✓ Awesome Pirate RPG!Like Sid’s Pirates(which I loved) only a more mature tone, a dash of magic/monsters and truly STUNNING 3d graphics. If you can think it, you can pretty much do it in this one.. and every update just keeps adding MORE. Great game from a great dev. So if you missed it on Steam grab this gem ASAP. ✓ Some more content would be niceIf the developer were to ever respond to this review, I would suggest you go take a look at another mobile pirate game, called “the pirate Caribbean hunt”.This game does a lot of things better than that game, but I feel like it would be nice if you can add stuff like ship blue prints and open world ship wrecks. ✓ Really, really great gameThis is by far the best pirate game in the App Store. I highly recommend it. The only things that would make it better is being able to walk around your ship freely whenever you want. (Sort of like sea of thieves) And maybe being able to sleep during night. ✓ Review on the newest update (March 2022)Great game and a good new update but there are some things to fix like the 3rd person perspective. That got worse and I don’t know what happened to the guns, they just don’t work as well as before anymore. That also got worse. But other than that everything else is good. Naval combat got a lot better. One thing though talking about naval combat is when you get a good hit on an enemy ship you can’t use the crystals when the cut scene goes on. ✓ Great game, some technical issuesThis is a great game and well worth the money - so do buy it. Having said that this only receives 4 stars because there are glitches, especially on the later missions which unfortunately makes the game crash and you are unable to complete the missions. ✓ Lots of depth and funI have only sunk (no pun intended) a few hours into the game so far and I can see already that there is a lot of customisation for both ship and crew in this game. As well there is a large variation of repeatable quest on offer. The combat is classically repetitive but still fun and has a verity of types of cannons, ammunition and other upgrades. There are multiple fractions to join or anger I have only met 5 so far which is a good amount. The game is very much like Sid Meier's Pirates which is an excellent game. This game has a lot of excellent elements in it and is one of the best games i have played on iPad. The only criticism I have is that the lore and narrative of this created world in unclear and not well presented and while traveling in map mode I was unsure if the icons at the bottom where attackers, friend or foe or people I could attack. In all this is great game with a lot in it and one of the few games worth time and money on iPad. One that will be on my iPad for a long time alongside Pirates and FTL. -The developers have also been very good with customer feedback some thing I did not expect and has made a very excellent game that more enjoyable to play..Version: 1.4
✓ Very good game!This game was very addicting for a while, there’s a lot to do and many storylines to play. I’ve been playing this game for a couple months now, and just recently I got an iPhone 8 and with the most recent update the buttons don’t align with the screen. The buttons look larger than normal and I can’t even hit the ones on top or bottom of my screen. I noticed some other people had problems button sizing/UI with the iPhone X, and supposedly the new update fixed it. However, I have the most recent update but my iPhone 8 still has button sizing/UI issues. Please fix this soon, the game is already amazing! ✓ Visually stunning and great gameplayOne of the best age of sail RPGs I’ve ever played. Really enjoy all the storylines woven into the game and how so many missions can take quite a while to accomplish, excellent playability, I’ve spent hours in this game and am still finding new content. Once you have the resources to spend on ship customisation, it gets even better looking. Some odd little glitches such as my warehoused goods are not always in the port indicated in the journal, sometimes they are in another port on the same island. Also had one very happy glitch when I seemed to have an unlimited number of captured Barques and sold dozens of them to buy the Queen Battleship, once I left port the glitch was gone and has not reoccurred. ✓ Amazing game if you like the open seasThe game is fantastic for everyone who loves the idea of naval combat or the age of sail. You can play as a trader or as a pirate giving you lots of options. Originally you pretty much had to side with the pirates but as of more recent versions you can associate with whichever faction you’d like. The main thing that I’d like to see in the game is controller support. Currently when in the 3rd person boarding combat if you tap the screen a certain way your camera will reverse likely causing you to get stabbed in the back. All in all a great game that I’ve had a lot of fun with!.Version: 1.64

✓ Good Game, Disappointing DLCsI am tempted to give a lower score, bing currently annoyed by the DLCs, but that would not be fair. It is a very good base game, and. Have gotten hours of enjoyment out of it. Sadly, the DLCs do not really seem very well-thought-out and are not similar to the base game. The land quests are just a bad idea. Melee combat is not very deep, already, and the DLCs add a LOT of melee, land combat. I don’t want to spend 5 minutes running through boring, procedurally generated jungle, doing nothing but running, only to then die in combat with a camp of 20 enemies shooting at me (especially since mobile controls are imprecise and clunky). Why would a pirate captain with a giant battleship full of battle-hardened crew be trying to heroically take out camps of enemies all by himself anyway? If the DLC had added more quests like the lengthy “legend” quests in the main game, a new faction, and basically just a new map with quests comparable to the other maps, it would have been perfect. PS. Also, who thought it was a good idea to make all of the artifacts and high level items you spent hours acquiring easily buyable in the new DLC? After I spend hours following a long chain of missions to get a fancy artifact, I don’t want to roll up into the DLC towns and see it just sitting there, for sale..Version: 1.76

✓ Galaxy on Fire, pirate version!!This is the closest thing I’ve found to the amazing GoF game which is still the best iPad game ever, before the freemium sequel ruined the brand. It’s an open world with trading and good fighting mechanics, lots of fun. It’s definitely not up to par with GoF, feels more like a Beta version with a lot of refinement and fixes needed, but a good start. Any game even half as good as GoF gets five stars..Version: 1.67.1

✓ Great game with one issueDefinitely the best pirate-themed game for the iPad (by a large margin). Picture it as a very polished Sid Meier’s Pirates! but with 25x the missions, stronger graphics, a fantastic score and 100% less redundant ballroom dancing. So why only 4 stars instead of 5? In a word: land. This game has about a half dozen land quest types (they rotate randomly). And its during these quests where the polish is tarnished. A prime example: on a mission to save an Emperor’s daughter, you run to a pirate haven to save her. Often, the haven doesn’t render until you’re in the middle of town where you promptly get blown apart or trapped in geography. Likewise, some trees don’t render and you’ll get stuck on them. Perhaps the most common issue is the camera panning 180 degrees in the opposite direction of a fight because of some object behind you that you’re stuck on. Additionally, your pirate will move a bit oddly through the land missions as if on rails (randomly). If the developers could fix the issues with land quests (giving them the same polish as the vibrant sea battles), this game would be an easy 5 star winner and one of the best games on the iPad..Version: 1.75

Gets grindy and so ultimately pretty dull, I've bought a bigger ship and it somehow seems worse, it's pretty difficult to get cash and some missions are pointless until later. Boarding... I just stopped, it was a bit messy. You can also upgrade your crew AND captain. There are mysteriously powerful artifacts to find, mythical sea monsters, and a budget for all of it..so venture wisely. Otherwise, the graphics and camera angles matched with the realistic sounds give this game movie-like qualities...just zoom in on deck and sail for a while with your friends, it's a blast! Then cooperate in pirate battles...it's a literal blast! Sixth Star!!! The 6th star goes to this game because the developers have gone above and beyond providing excellent customer service. It is kinda like The Pirate: Caribbean Hunt, but with sea monsters and magic crystals. I love being able to board other ships and have an epic fight against their crew, which is one thing The Pirate was lacking in. ✓ Good game, bad DLCI’ve been thoroughly enjoying this game. There’s always something new to do, with many factions and quests, ships to buy, and sea monsters to find. Quality has improved significantly since I started playing years ago. A minor issue: text sometimes disappears before I have a chance to read it, so I could really use a log of some sort. Unfortunately, I believe the DLC is not worth the money in its current form. Land battles are nearly impossible because my captain dies after 2-3 hits. The only possible strategy is a prolonged hit-and-run, which is no fun and still fails if I get shot by an enemy I can’t even see. Many of the new quests (especially Emperor’s Daughter) are blocked by impossible land battles. And the Pirate City just doesn’t really add anything to the rest of the game. Hope the developer will fix these issues, because the core game is a masterpiece..Version: 1.410

It covers a whole spectrum of experiences, from first person, trade, and of course pirate ship battles. There are however, many many bugs abound. The storylines are entertaining and interesting and worth the pursuits. If I had a criticism it is that the pop-up windows can be accidentally dismissed so easily. The windows that tell me about a certain event or give me information after completing a quest, pop-up when I have my fingers on the screen and since you dismiss them by touching any part of the screen, they go away so fast that I rarely am able to read them. Maybe if you had to click on an “X” to dismiss the windows it might alleviate that. But otherwise I love this Pirate Sim - it’s the best one out there for the iPad that I’ve come across..Version: 1.64

✓ Great gameThis game is very enjoyable. Endless things to do, great ships, and great concepts. It is short a star due to issues with the DLC jade ed. When trying to go upon shore, 50% of the time I get put underwater and controls are useless, forcing me to close the game. My other concern is the quests upon the shore. Cleaning out the pirate camps of 6+ pirates with my 1 character is impossible. I would think that you would be able to take some of your crew with you, but you don’t. The paradise locations are do-able because at the most you face three skeletons at a time and they don’t have pistols. ✓ Overall a good game but with a few issuesA nicely presented pirate RPG with excellent graphics and good depth to keep you going for a long time. I did have some problems with the quests though. Sometimes a quest can not be completed no matter what you do. For example the Tell tale tongue quest, I battled countless ships back to back but the quest would not complete. Not sure why but this needs to be looked into..Version: 1.64
