✓ Best card-based tableau building gameExquisite card game. Build an empire by purchasing tech, colonizing worlds or farming resources. Each card in your hand is something you can do, but you’ll have to pay for it with the other cards in your hand. Genius buy system means even techs you don’t want are resources you need to build what you do want. Genius iconography and balance mean game is hyper replayable. Base and first expand are amazing. Brink of war adds purple tokens which makes the game a bit swingy and less strategic. Hard level Ai is super challenging. Supports 4 player games but I play 99% in 2 player mode. This game is absolutely Worth the effort to learn. Has provided me dozens of hours of entertainment. 5 stars, August 2018.Version: 1.08

✓ Great board game Port to iOSI wanted to learn to play this board game so I purchased it for iOS and I was not disappointed. It is a very interesting game with many different ways to win. My only complaint is it is a bit of a challenge to play on Iphone plus as when u wish to view cards up close, the cards are still not as large as they could have been. That aside, it’s a fun addicting game to play. I play primarily solo against bots but you can play online. Recommend to board game fans who are interested in the theme..Version: 1.09.2

✓ A dumbed down version of Keldon AIThis is a fine adaptation to iOS of the excellent (and free) Keldon AI which still runs in Windows. Takeovers in particular are handled very well. I own GS and RvI expansions only. However, there isn’t a fraction of the functionality present in the ageing free version. For example: - why can’t I look at the final game state after game’s end? - Why can’t I rewind steps in the game to see if a different strategy will win. - the card select/discard could be streamlined ( if a purchase costs 6, and I only have six cards, why not an option to “discard all”? - there were other scenarios apart from RvI present in Keldon AI. - All the expansions would be great..Version: 1.09.2

✓ Good but notification issuesThis game is fantastic in every way but one - I can't get turn notifications to work! I have background app refresh enabled and notifications completely enabled for it, but I have yet to receive a single notification during online games when it is my turn, meaning I have to just keep checking back for info. If those turn notifications worked, this would be a 5-star review easy, as the game is fantastic and implemented very well! Edit: changed to 5 stars with latest notification fix!.Version: 1.08
✓ 4.5: Great game with one bugIf you like engine building card games this is fantastic. And the app runs smoothly. But in at least one game my final score didn’t include certain victory points granted by special cards. It’s fun to play even with thus flaw but accurately counting victory points seems essential to the game. Update: I was wrong. The scoring was correct but not transparent. It turns out some card values are variably scored behind the scenes. But this isn’t explained to the user which is confusing. I thought I had a card worth x+y but in fact it was just x. In general the brief rules explanations are enough to get going but not enough to understand gameplaying mistakes..Version: 1.09.2

The only knock against the app is that it crashes every 10 to 15, maybe due to memory leaks? ✓ Speedy EurogameRace for the Galaxy is a souped up, sci-fi themed variant around San Juan (and both are descendants of Puerto Rico): this immediately suggests a certain Euro style. All three titles are now good iOS apps and should tempt the odd casual gamer too. Better games (in my opinion) are quite different in structure. I can’t speak to online (yet) but I like the app enough in solo. It’s a quick diversion and no brain burn. It also has excellent production values that justify the slight price premium..Version: 1.08

✓ Great game, one glitchThis rating would be a five star if it weren’t for my a recent glitch. First off, I’ve been playing for some months now and this game is awesome! Love the concept and the multiplayer ability. So my problem is that I’ve experienced a glitch that would allow me to proceed with a game. It is requiring I use a consumer power but don’t have any goods to consume. So I’m effectively in a stall with a multiplayer game. Would love it if the developers could address this for future play. ✓ Great Game Standing The Test of TimeI have just picked this up for the first time after seeing so many positive reviews on board game forums, including boardgamegeeks where it is ranked highly, and am glad I have finally been able to play this amazing game. It is a very deep and tactical game and is a complete port from a classic physical board game, including promo cards, which was released in 2007. Race has been around over 14 years and it is still popular today. The digital version handles all of the housekeeping and provides written references next to the iconography on each card which significantly reduces the learning curve when compared to the physical game. This allows new players to get into the meat of the game much faster without first having to get their head around the iconography which overcomes one of the main gripes new players have learning the physical. The mobile version is an excellent version as each game is relatively short and can be played in short bursts. Also the AI is very strong and its fun to play against because there is a lot to learn by watching how it plays. I can’t recommend this game enough and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys deep and tactical 1v1 games with minimal luck and maximum skill?.Version: 1.09.2
✓ 👍Most of the negative points I see written in the reviews I can't agree with. Multiplayer is the only way I play. Notifications work... Too well even. I get notifications on another device when I have it open even though I have it open in one. The interface, in my opinion, is good given the space limitations of screen size. There is a score breakdown but you have to decode the symbols. One request: add an optional undo. For multiplayer it could be a selectable option, for friendly multiplayer..Version: 1.09

✓ Fantastic GameThis is an amazing board/card game I’ve played over the years and come back to once again just recently. It offers very tight and tactically deep gameplay of card/deck management where you have to tactically make hard decisions with regards to which cards to play and which to discard as payment for your paid cards. There is a good depth of asymmetry between the different ways of winning (production, military, developments), and there really is a sense of a “Race” to play optimally to squeeze out a win. You need to observe what your opponent is doing and adjust and take action accordingly. Not many board games offer this depth. The app implementation is solid. Brilliant game. My only wishes are that it were updated for latest device screen sizes (currently letterboxed), and the more expansions were included. Unfortunately with how long this has been available, I expect that will never happen. Regardless, simply awesome game. I hope this game and Roll for the Galaxy get all the expansions..Version: 1.09.2

It’s one of the few board game apps I’ve come across that actually has competent AI players (at least at high difficulty). I was having crash issues for a while after installing the Brink of War expansion, but after a phone restart and iOS update, they’ve disappeared, so the problem was likely on my phone’s end. To the developer’s credit, they did reach out to see if they could help fix the issue, but since it went away on its own there wasn’t anything that needed to be done..Version: 1.07

✓ Fantastic app, fantastic gameI've never played the game in card format, but the app makes the basic rules clear and after one game to orient yourself with the board, it's easy to carry out your plans. There are so many ways to go about winning each game, that there's as much fun to be had devising different strategies as there is to becoming ruthlessly efficient at them. The only 'problems' I've run into are: - I wasn't clear that you need 'takeover cards' from the takeover rules in the DLC (so much frustration passing on Settle turns for no good reason...). Simple example tutorials to explain new mechanics would be great. - Before buying the DLC I assumed I was using the New Worlds expansion by default - it wasn't clear that the 'NW' was a button to be tapped. - I might be a little bit addicted..Version: 1.01

I first noticed this by accident clicking on a "waiting" game. Now I have to check them all every day. Every day I find at least one that's on my turn. ✓ Great ImplementationIt's fantastic. BUT R&D Crash Program card is doing all kinds of strange things! First time I used it it didn't remove itself from my tableau Second time it discarded the card I wanted to actually play... Only bug I've found though. Can't wait for the other expansions! Although no idea how they'll implement the whole Orb nonsense... UPDATE R&D has two functions so it could be that it's easy to think you're using it for one thing whereas it's using it for the other. ✓ Excellent, but still some issuesI've really been enjoying the single-player against the AI and have spent more than enough hours playing to be happy with the purchase (273 games so far). My biggest complaint is that it keeps me up late playing. One oddity is that playing a card you pay for with cards or activated abilities you can undo; if it's free (e.g. Military planet) you can't undo. It crashes infrequently, and usually restarts with no problem when it does (though you may get different cards), but twice now it's actually corrupted my profile such that any attempt to start or resume a game crashes the app; all I can do in those profiles is view stats. It is easy enough to make a new profile, but frustrating if you like to looking at your stats. Even with those issues it's well worth it. I have the base game and 2/3 expansions..Version: 1.04

✓ Good implementation, could have been greatThe game and expansions are very well implemented in terms of precisely reproducing the game in a well-executed digital format that looks great and has a good user interface. It is as ever, a phenomenal game. The Hard AI also represents a genuine challenge, even to strong players. There are also plenty of online opponents to play against asynchronously, or sometimes in live games. A couple things that could be improved: - It has started to crash on occasion in single player mode, causing me to have to ditch games. This on an iPhone XR. No bug feedback mechanism in-game. - The multiplayer is extremely basic - no chat, no player rankings, no ability to see other player stats. I play the same people routinely and would love to say “hi” at least. Also when one player pulls out of a game it terminates. They should be replaced with an AI to let the other players finish. - No achievements, scenarios, or anything to give the satisfying illusion of some sort of ‘progress’ after playing the game a lot. See Through the Ages app for a superb example of this done well..Version: 1.09.2
✓ Still playing after 720 games, 387 wins, and zero ties.During this time: Earned a total 5455 VP chits, Apparently my favourite start world is Alien Research Team with 88 plays, a max points of 22 earned using Uplift Code, and earned Expansion Leader 102 times. Sure, a game corrupts from time to time, but this boardgame version is beautiful & fast, multiplayer works like a charm, and did I mention all the gameplay stats? Sure beats manually shuffling 300+ cards just to play this game around the table with your friends...we all just play this electronic version instead...and we get to play five games in the same time it takes us to play the actual card game once. Kudos to the support team. They are very responsive..Version: 1.09.2
