GOWOD for Negative User Reviews

Needs one tap for daily flowThere’s a golden rule in UX, it should be one tap to do anything important. Three taps and you’ve likely lost the person. It takes 4 taps to just do the daily flow. Why? I use the same settings every time. Can you please please please make this one tap? Even better would be a widget with daily flow from the Home Screen like Nike plus. Then i don’t even need to tap into the app. You could just deep-link into the daily flow. I’m a paying user. Would love to see the app improve. Happy to provide more feedback and change review if you reach out..Version: 3.0.6

Could be a 5 star appEverything is great about this app. I love the monthly tests for mobility and the daily flow. These things need changed for me to give a five star review: - More than five seconds in between changing sides. I need more than five seconds to come out of my pose and switch to the opposite side (banded pigeon stretch for example) - Be able to select more than one muscle group if I select stretches from scratch. I don’t know all CrossFit moves so I need to select the muscle groups I need when I’m doing just a lifting day. - Be able to select the exercises (above) and create my own flow from those selected and not select one exercise at a time to do. - Play the exercise video separately from the timer. I don’t know how to do every stretch and I don’t want time taken away from my stretching just because I’m trying to figure it out. - Randomize pre routines better. I selected completely different exercises two days in a row and got the same routine from the day before. Please randomize flows better or fix the things above (creating my own flow)..Version: 3.0.5

Need more difficult stretchesOverall GOWOD is a well thought out and put together. However, it’s easy to max out on the stretches in the daily flow. There needs to be more scaled and difficult options for more advanced practice..Version: 3.1.4

The new app is buggyEver since the app redesign, a number of bugs have surfaced in the “Daily” training protocol. If I select a 22 minute session, sometimes I get a 15 minute session. It’ll stop auto-advancing between exercises; this seems to occur more frequently if I skipped an exercise earlier in the session. It’s as if interacting with the session throws it off. Sometimes the labeled time and the timer do not line up; i.e. the movement could be labeled “3 mins each side”, but the timer will count down from 2 minutes. Finally, at the end of a session, sometimes it’ll end on a screen with a bunch of “undefined” labels. C’mon guys. All of these add up to a relatively frustrating UX, when all I’m trying to do is relax and recover. It’s doubly frustrating because the app was so perfect before the redesign..Version: 3.1.2

CrashesThis seems like a fantastic idea to have however I have had several problems with the app 1.) continuously crashes. I can’t even get through the mobility test even if I shut all the tags off and switch WiFi. Has anyone else has this problem? 2.) computer accessibility. It would be great to have access to use this program in both phone app and computer, for when you want to do your mobility work at home. Although this review has nothing to do with the customer service I am solely leaving this review for the actual product. The customer service has been fantastic. They have even contacted me though Instagram messenger..Version: 2.6.2

It’s very basic and hyped up by CrossfitI chose to use the GoWOD app for about 3 months because as an amateur crossfit athlete I decided that I needed to work on my mobility. As GoWOD’s subscription is cheaper than Romwod/pliability I decided to give it a go. Unfortunately I found the app very basic for the functionality it provides and expensively for what it offers. Let’s start with what it actually does. It gives you a timer for each pose to hold until your selected time is up. It gives you a ‘personalised’ routine. It also allows you to do a mobility assessment. What bugs me: - the mobility assessment doesn’t allow for the option of ‘can’t get into the pose’. - the overhead test is for the assessment is modelled for people…uhm…I don’t know who. I don’t know many people squatting without turning out their feet to make room for their midsection. Equally difficult for people with long thighs. - there are some spelling mistakes - it isn’t always clear what the exact pose is trying to achieve and sometimes it’s more of a strength exercise. - post wod programmes always require the gym because of equipment need - it’s far too simple for the price - I feels like the person who programmed this doesn’t understand how stretching works and how different bodies work - the routines don’t flow - some poses are simply inaccessible to some Tl dr: expensive overhyped tool that looks shiny because of affiliate athletes and brands..Version: 4.4.5

No Premium accessI was having issues right off the bat gaining premium access on iPhone. I requested support and got an email back very quickly. Their customer service is great. I followed the directions explicitly in the email to register for premium access external to the Apple App Store. The GOWOD app asked for my credit card info which i happily provided, stoked to finally use the app as intended. However, after I provided my CC info and submitted, it went to a loading screen and was loading for at least ten minutes before I closed the app. When I opened it back up, I still had no premium access even after I provided my payment info. That is extremely concerning to me. It’s clear others have had success with this app but for me it has been an enormous pain in the neck..Version: 2.8.0

Asking to resubscribe when money has already been paidI’m subscribed to gowod premium but can’t use the unless I subscribe again..Version: 2.5.3

Great appGreat app with awesome new and classic mobility movements and stretches. A few things though: 1) I wish the videos were more thorough, especially with the newer and more unique movements. 2) the workout closes/ends if you’re in the middle of an exercise and the timer is going and you open another app (ie Messages, email, Facebook, etc)— please fix this as not all of can just stare at a timer for 12 minutes straight (sad, but true). Other than that, great app.Version: 2.5.0

RubbishCan’t mirror to your TV or larger screen. Videos don’t sync to the timer. Trash..Version: 4.4.3

Not different enoughI’ve been trialling a few stretching apps in sequence to compare content, user experience and value. I had hoped that GOWOD would provide more dynamic stretching, but the programming, much like its competitors, was nearly all long held static stretching. The lack of audio cues (i.e. the deafening silence) in GOWOD would be fine if was more dynamic stretches. I also found it difficult fiddling with my device to move between stretches in the flows. I tried the auto play, but it moved too quickly. Final area - I’d prefer if it there was a browser option that I could access on my SmartTV. Unless I’m missing it, GOWOD only works on the app, so I can only peer at a mobile device screen without buying more kit that I don’t otherwise need..Version: 2.8.0

App has major issuesI was excited to try this app and paid for the premium hoping to replace my Mobility WOD subscription with a more robust option. After the initial use for pre and post wod, the app continues to crash, there is seemingly a delay when submitting forms that generates “problem occurred” and some functionality is so finicky that you have to replace email addresses with the same values for the app to work. Beyond frustrated with the app and website - I hope they figure it out, quick. Otherwise I will be cancelling my subscription during the free trial and going back to MWOD, happily..Version: 2.2.1

RepetitiveThe app just gives the same stretches each time, just seems randomly done and not the slightest bit ‘personalised’ Very few stretches given to include accessories such as bands, I think it’s worth paying a decent amount up front for something like the Mobility Manual or Tom Morrison instead..Version: 4.5.1

Very expensive but goodThis app is amazing for stretching but the subscription price for all options is way to high. I can’t afford that subscription but I wish I could because the app is really good.Version: 4.5.2

App Crashing IssuesI absolutely love the idea of this app. I am really excited to try it. However I have tried many times to complete my mobility test and the app keeps crashing every time I am almost finished. I’ve yet to be able to make use of the app because I can’t complete the test..Version: 2.4.4

Charged me after I canceledCharged me after I canceled.Version: 2.8.0

Would have even a great tool but now crashes and I can’t open itI liked how I can customize my daily WOD to focus on muscle groups. Nice reference video and information for isolated muscles. However, I used this for one week and theoretically it would have been great to compare my mobility test before and after I worked on it for a month....but now a week in I can no longer open it. It crashes every time I try to open it and nothing I do can get it to respond. Guess I won’t make it past the trial period..Version: 2.7.6

Great updateThe app now: - allows the phone to sleep in the middle of timed protocols - quits 20 mins into a protocol and gives you no time credit for completed mobility. App now is more aesthetically pleasing but functionally worse. Great job GOWOD. Def worth 15 bucks a month. NOT..Version: 3.0.3

One angle shot and too hardExercises are too hard for beginners. Also - the video is taken from one angle so you can't see a full view of some of the exercises..Version: 3.4.7

It does not workFirst it does not work. It says I am not connected to internet when I am. Anything else on my phone works but not this app. I paid subscription for a year which was a mistake. Second I can’t even put my gym on the list as if is not on apps list. It has been affiliated gym for years and it is on CrossFit website but somehow this app does not show it and one can’t do it manually, it’s annoying. I don’t know what to do it’s to late cancel subscription but frankly at least I can’t use this paid app.Version: 4.2.4

Looks like a scam! May be legit but very odd.Initial test is fantastic and give you confidence but when you try and subscribe they try and get you to pay them direct and bypass the App Store. I even considered doing this but then dogged a little deeper and worrying reports of payment issues, bugs and the app crashing or simply not working. Avoid and hope they resolve and use the App Store as it is intended. Shame it’s a great idea badly executed..Version: 2.8.0

I love it but!Ok, so the idea of this app is fantastic! I’ve only been using it for 14 days but I’ve learned so many new stretches and I seriously feel like I’m improving. I really want to give this 5 stars but there are a couple of things : 1. Many of the exercise explanations are lacking. I find myself unsure if I am doing something correctly a lot of the time. Please provide a more in depth explanation! 2. Some of the exercises are impossible for me to do in my daily protocol! Please provide an alternative button or a “I can’t do this” maybe something easier to get to the actually stretch? 3. I use this on my iPad and like to have it in landscape mode so I can see exactly what the teacher is doing. Unfortunately I can’t read the steps so I am constantly flipping it back and forth. Maybe have a voice over of what you should be doing so we don’t have to look up or read every single time? 4. The exercise data base is strange and lacking. Sometimes I am super tight in a certain body part and looking to stretch that area but I can’t find an exercise that corresponds with said muscle. Anyway. Aside from this I really enjoy this app! I think it looks great! The mobility yeast is awesome and the pre and post workout options are fantastic! Just need a little more refining :) thank you!!.Version: 3.0.5

No landscape modeThis app would be so much better if they allowed it to rotate to landscape mode. It’s not that hard so I really don’t know why they don’t do it. Working out from home would be so much better if I didn’t have to awkwardly balance my iPad in a portrait orientation since iPad cases are designed to mainly be landscape. Also when I connect my iPad to a television it is still in portrait and won’t expand because of the lack of landscape mode. Make the change and I’ll give it 5 stars..Version: 3.0.2

App crashes all the time not worth itApp continually crashes can’t even use it.Version: 2.4.0

What a scam! They will incentivize you to register for the same premium service on their site and charge your double (website in addition to the App Store) even if it’s all under the same account (e-mail). No billing information will be notified through e-mail. Totally unethical practice. What a scam!.Version: 3.2.9

Overall great app except for one feature.Overall the app works well, the exercices are useful and it’s good to have structure around your mobility programme based on your own weaknesses. However, for a paid app, it’s still embarrassing to see that half the time when you leave the app for a few mins, the apps shuts down and brings your back to the home page, thus erasing your progress so far..Version: 2.8.0

Constantly crashesGreat app. But have to keep deleting and re downloading every few days cause it keeps crashing..Version: 2.4.4

Sticking with RomwodI decided to give Gowod a go as I subscribed for the 40 day free trial. I wanted to compare it against Romwod, which I had been using for a coupe of months. I will now be sticking with Romwod despite it costing more. For me Romwod is easier to use & prefer the daily routines. More recently the gowod app doesn’t load on my phone & the mobility test keeps crashing..Version: 2.7.5

Very expensive for what you getGowod is $14CAD a month for stretches that have 3 sentences of poor instruction below a video that cannot be restarted to see how to get in to a stretch. Once the video starts you need to wait anywhere from 1 to 3 minutes for it to restart to see how to start the stretch. How this app is rated so high on the app store is beyond me. When searching for a mobility app, this is always the top recommendation, and I'm baffled. The mobility test with score and areas to focus on it nice, it will even provide the stretches to improve, that's a cool feature... but it doesn't justify the cost. If this was a one time purchase I would rate it much higher, but this is $120CAD a year... It's insane. You can find the same stretches on YouTube with better explanations and a handy pause button. You could even look for a yoga pose that you cannot complete to test your mobility monthly against. I'm very disappointed..Version: 3.4.7

Potential, but it won’t workI have not yet been able to try any of the wods, as the app keeps crashing. I then had to re download the app. Once I did this I was finally able to access the app, however when I tried to do one of the daily wods for example, it would just freeze and I was never able to get to the actual wod. These issues need to be able to be fixed ASAP, as I cannot even use the app at all..Version: 2.2.1

Subscription problemThe app overall is good. However, after doing the free trial it is charging me the month to month rate. I want to subscribe with the year to year rate because I really like the app. However when I go into the premium section my only options are to continue paying the higher rate or unsubscribe. When I try to contact someone to fix my subscription the app doesn’t work. There seems no way to fix my problem but to just cancel my subscription. This makes me sad. If I go online with my computer it tells me to sign on the app. Ran out of options to troubleshoot..Version: 3.1.2

Could improveGreat concept and application. Nice setup, easy to use, lines up all the steps from a few simple choices. Wish it would actually target the exercise I did that day, which I thought was the premise. No matter what WOD I entered, I always got the same or very similar exercises and movements. I liked the timer, good ideas there, but the alert wasn’t loud enough in the gym. Need to allow changing alerts sounds on the fly for various locations. Good app, but poor execution for the monthly subscription you have to join..Version: 1.7.0

App layoutThe info displayed on the screen is wonky.. I can’t even get past “what are you looking for” when selecting a program because the “next” button is cut off.Version: 3.0.7

Helpful at firstI dedicated 22 minutes a day starting on January 1 to improve my mobility. Within the first 4 months I saw great improvement. I retested each month and followed the program to a T. The last 4 months has been regression. I attribute this to the stretches not changing all year. It feels like I’ve done the Sampson stretch everyday. Recently they boasted a rewrite of the app to include 60 new exercises, but I’ve never seen them. My program still is the exact same stretches every single day. Looks like I’m going back to romwod..Version: 3.1.4

It’s okJust give them your money! Why would you want to save for a future where your stuck in a bed, give them your money it’s probably better than meth. And the developers likely need more money since they make more in interest in a day then anyone who has to pay for this. But for what it is it is fricking amazing!.Version: 2.5.0

App could use some usability improvementsSo I love the concept but for the amount being charged this app needs some love. First off the videos don’t always stream and the spinner just spins while you are waiting. It blocks my ability to click on the go button so I can’t do anything. Next when I click the back button and I’m doing bilateral exercises, consider each side as a separate exercise so I don’t have to restart the whole sequence, just the one side I missed. Also switching out of the app while the timer is running often freezes the timer or even worse resets it. If I want to start some music in the middle of a three minute stretch and it resets my timer that’s really frustrating..Version: 3.0.7

Overall a good appThis is overall a great mobility app. I’ve tried a few and this is my preferred. There are aspects I really liked about pliability. It wasn’t just CrossFit focused and focused on all the other sports that I play. However, the UI of GOWOD is so much better. The only thing I wish they could improve would be adding more common lifting exercises I don’t always do Wods or CrossFit style workouts. So having the ability to enter more bodybuilding type lifts would be awesome. For now I have to type in a movement that most closely matches common lift that are not done in CrossFit. Like calves, dumbbell or cable, leg extensions and leg curls etc. Having these types of exercises in the data base would bump this up 2 stars easily..Version: 4.7.0

Great app until it doesn’t work!Great app, videos are well done, content is great. I have been paying for the premium version every month. When I opened it this morning before a workout, it said that I had to upgrade to the premium version, even though I have been charged for it every month! Romwod here I come..Version: 2.8.0

Connection errors and pricing complaintI downloaded this and did the test. I then signed up for the free-trial HOWEVER, the app will not recognize the purchase. I believe it is due to being signed in via Google but the app uses the App Store for subscriptions. These are very different for most people. Also, when attempting to find a way to fix the above issue, I noticed that the monthly price listed under the “premium” tab in settings was $2 less a month AS WELL as with options for 6- and 12- month subscriptions. These are not offered via in-app purchase. This app might be great, but there are too many programming flaws for me. I am deleting and cancelling the subscription - yes, it went through on the Apple side of the equation. May try another day if you fix this issue..Version: 2.8.0

Can’t sign up/log inI’ve tried Facebook, google, and creating an account. All say “An Error has occurred”. Terrible quality of an app. Instead of spending the years budget on marketing why not spend it on creating a half decent app? This entire thing seems rushed and lacks any software testing. I was looking forward to using this app but clearly it isn’t quite there yet. Seems more like a beta..Version: 2.2.1

Unexpected error occurredWhat’s going on? I cannot get into the app. ^^ that’s what keeps coming up.Version: 2.8.0
