✓ Update neededThe game is great in the starting stages, you really have to think about tactics and character progression. However there’s a handful of characters that are so stupidly overpowered, it just ruins the game as you progress to the higher arenas. The amount of times I have lost a after being 3 characters up, to get all of them destroyed by the pirate who just heals himself a stupid amount after each round. ✓ Fun but too much like Clash RoyaleI’ve enjoyed this game and have even spent a small amount of money to level up some cards. After a week of constant play, I haven’t lost a game yet, so I can see where it would be very much pay to win. I’m not as worried about that though. The fact that this game looks way too close to Clash Royale. The menu is the exact same. The arena idea, the deck building tab, leveling up your characters, the trophies you get for winning, the coins and gems page, the orbs and their unlock times, the clans page, how the clan can donate cards and communicate, the leaderboards, achievements, all mimic exactly what Clash Royale looks like. I hope you guys find some way to make this game your own without stealing ideas and making money off them. Other than that, I enjoy the gameplay and I will be playing for a while. ✓ Other playersThis game is pretty good but 100% pvp is a nightmare. When you prefer fast paced gameplay it gets completely ruined by most players who SIT-AND-WAIT forever. All the moves, even ones deemed complicated, are easy to see. If anything cut the turn time in half so people can’t stop ruining the pace, this isn’t chess. ✓ Disappointed with Latest updatePrior to the latest update there were quests to complete that refreshed after a given amount of time. It gave players a reason to log in more often. With the latest update you get one quest a day that can be completed in a short amount of time. Without the quests there isn’t much of a reason to log in as often. Hopefully they revert back to having more quests. The game is still fun but a lot less so than it used to be. ✓ Sone things that are bothering meGreat game with even greater potential but it’s a money sucker because it takes way too long to unlock the most basic orb and get some decent cards to upgrade character. At the most basic level it shouldn’t take over 6+ hours to upgrade a character because you’re waiting for a “common” orb. Also if you go first you probably win. Need to create more of an even play field.. some sort number picker to see who goes first. Another point is the option for buying cards..it only gives you 3 options at a time in the store..should have more of variety in the store to buy cards with coins. Especially as you level up. I have all elite and rare cards yet I’m still staring at a barbarian and archer so I’m again forced to wait 8 hours for the second tier orb. ✓ Has great potential, can come backWe all know about the update. I don’t care too much about that. I’ll spend money if good deals come out. You can only buy orbs currently. Now I’m going to get nitpicky. 1 A. RNG is huge. Even if the hero lineup is randomized, let us choose who gets to go first from the randomized lineup 1 B. Stuff like wraith and wizard shouldn’t be able to take out everything in one turn. Stuff like rocketeer can be absolutely powerful with the right lineup. For example, I hit my rocketeer 3 times in a row with my paladin. Next turn, my rocketeer instantly kills opponent’s wizard and almost kills the tank. Things can be too random. 2 A. Arena 7. Once we reach bronze reward arenas should change from then. Frozen lake constantly gets irritating. 3 A. Balancing, blacksmith and knight aren’t great while others are too strong. These guys need balancing as well as strong guys like wraith, rocketeer, and barbarian. Some characters’ abilities need tweaking. For example,Orc’s ability only works with two or more opponents. This can be useless when opponent’s team is spread out. And lastly, the “why did this happen” stuff. Druid got nerfed big time when no one cared about him. In any arena he was very underused. ✓ New update is greedyI’ve played this game off and on for years. YEARS. Probably the last 5-7 years or so I go through phases where I play for quite a long time. It’s fun, it’s kind of mindless and a good time waster. I LOVED the update that brought in personal quests, and the rewards encouraged players to play the game. The newest update, however, is just plain greedy. It combined personal quests and the battle pass, so now you have to pay to claim the rewards that used to come from playing the game and completing your daily/weekly quests. I can’t even claim my rewards from personal quests that I completed before the update, so they will just sit in my inbox forever, unable to be claimed. It’s greedy, and takes away the incentive that was there for players to play the game the same way. I’m not spending 4.99 for my daily quests to give me decent rewards. I used to actually buy the battle pass every so often. I won’t be spending a dime on this game anymore. I’ll pop in to do my clan quests every other weekend, but that’s about it. I would’ve been happy to give this game 5 stars before this update, but not now. ✓ Really loved this game but now....This is a great game, working out the abilities of your Heroes, using physics to work out the best attack, there are a variety of quests to complete, all interesting. There is no need to spend money unless you really want, there is still the opportunity to succeed. BUT now the interface has changed and you have to complete one challenge at a time, dictated by the program where before you were able to build your team to attempt to complete multiple quests. Which takes many hours to unlock and also Which is unfair!.. It makes It nearly impossibly (very time consuming) for one to try and save coin in comparison to the price of upgrades each card requires! It would be best to allow more coin earned after each victory so that it becomes less stressful and more fair for those who wish to remain playing this game. ✓ Great Game but...I love this game and I’ve been playing it for the past few months but I’ve noticed a big issue with plateauing. This happens to many players and is mostly due to the need to spend money to receive epics and higher leveled cards. Many of my friends have abandoned this game due to the fact that they’ve just gotten stuck at certain trophy levels. This game is supposed to be fun and competitive once you reach the highest arena and get rewards after each season but most players never end up reaching it. Even just playing and opening orbs is almost useless at higher trophy counts. It would even be helpful just to be able to throw away blue orbs or even rare orbs because of how useless their drops are. You can’t even request epics from clan mates either which I believe is stupid. I’ve realized that you need to spend money if you ever hope to get an epics card to level 7 or even 6. I really hope that in the future you’ll be able to request epic cards from friends or at least make them rare drops from common orbs. At the moment people only play in hopes of receiving ultimate orbs (which happens at around every 200 trophies) which make their trophy counts skyrocket..Version: 1.8.0.3918

Once you hit about 1000 trophies (which you earn from winning matches) you hit a wall unless you’re willing to spend real money to continue to progress. I refuse to spend actual money in the store so therefore I’ve been stuck at the same level for about a week now and I haven’t won a match in 3 days. So the pay to win factor is becoming a very frustrating obstacle. If it wasn’t for the obvious pay to win issues, this game would be way better. I had 219 gems and I used 80gems to buy the 1000 coins. However, after the transaction I only had 39 gems left. It had cost me an extra 100 gems for no reason at all. ✓ Matchmaking brokenI have been playing this game for a bit. It is a great game to pass time and you can grind and move up ranks without spending money. Rewards are generous and clans make advancement easier. This being said matchmaking is a joke. They say it is because the match trophies up with the matches not the levels of player. This would be fine if the variance was in anyway comparable. The trophies may be the same but when you put the same characters up against each other such as assassins, a level 14 will hurt and 18 but and 18 will kill a 14 in one hero bounced hit. There is no defense for this as it is the first move and you have not even taken a turn. They really need to work on matches since you can buy your levels. Teams should be balanced with hit points maybe instead of trophies. Who knows. I’m not a developer so maybe there is a reason. As it sits right now I’ve put in enough cash for sure. Between battle passes and some character bumps but I always have to stop and think if it’s really going to even matter since the next guy has already just maxed out his character and I’m getting high enough that I’m getting matched with these guys consistently..Version: 2.1.2.5808
✓ Latest update nerfed the gameI’m so annoyed I’m taking time to write a review. Please bring back the multiple PQ. The quest orbs was a nice bonus but for me was more about gameplay. Now all I do is smash away, focus on one deck, wait forever to unlock an orb or for a new quest. Pretty boring. Having the season pass intertwined yet separate from the PQ’s added depth and incentive to purchase the SP and attempt to upgrade multiple decks. Guessing the old way didn’t drive in the revenues executive management was hoping, which is a bummer so I understand the switch. But when you sacrifice an element of exciting gameplay for maximizing profit under the guise of “simplifying” the user experience, Geewa insults it’s player’s intelligence and ultimately leading to less money spent. After researching I noticed tht ‘smashing four’ had taken £15 from my account only the day before. I deleted the game a month ago . Contacted Apple support and did not stop until I got my money back. Getting it back all good but.... thieves!!! What a cheek to do that. Who ever has this game be very careful.. change ur settings so no transactions come out without your say so. ✓ Weird progressionI started yesterday, and quickly went on a double digit win streak. The mechanics of the game are fun and simple, but now I’m already on phase 4 and I only have a handful of cards barely unlocking their level 4 ability and I’m being outclassed so hard. Now the only way to get back to my card skill level is to lose a bunch of times in a row (which I’m doing) but it’s definitely not fun and makes me want to quit. This may end up being a game I play only once every several hours to open an orb to see if I’m good enough to play again. That is if I end up playing again at all, because I haven’t gotten a new orb yet today in 5 games. 3 stars, there should be a “balance mode” where everyone is equal and it comes down only to the skill of your shot not just how much you have invested in your dudes.Version: 2.1.57.7182
✓ A good game let down by bad devsThis game has a great premise, however the line between acceptable and inappropriate is crossed with the way they monetise this game. It is pay to win all the way. There are at least 8 factors from the top of my head that showcase this douche-baggery. It’s too much. Currently, you will see the game plagued by the most unimaginative, yet overpowered, meta ive seen in ages. This is on top of the already garbage matchmaking, which ensures that you’ll lose to literal 8 year olds that have no actual cognitive skills. ✓ So close, but not there yetThis game has a lot of potential. The gameplay is fun but it’s got some problems. There is no indication about how to advance. I’ve put a few hours into the game and I still have no idea about the mechanics of the game. I’m still at level one and have no idea how to move forward. At level one I’m being placed in matches with other players who characters are far above my own. Often more than doubling my characters points. These matches just aren’t fun and more common than a closely ranked match. The biggest problem that I have is when the game doesn’t recognize when I have my finger on the screen. I would say this could be my iPad, but not to the degree that this is happening. It is constant and happens well beyond anything I have experienced with any other app. Given the problems I’v mentioned Im inclined to give this game one star, however it is so much fun to play when it works that I’m not just writing the game off as garbage. ✓ Updated ReviewWarning for those starting to play: DO NOT SPEND MONEY. Geewa / Smashing Four has all but ghosted the support communities they’ve setup on Discord and Reddit. Rumors of developers leaving, changes in ownership or direction, or really who cares, other than the game is limping along. The support chat is no longer responding, I currently can’t get a match to load, and the responses from the communities (Reddit, Discord) are looking dismal. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t play, but until things improve, I’m not confident that this game will be around and that YOU as a player will get what you want out of spending money. You’ll notice that the load screen is still stuck in Fall. While I understand general weather changes and is different around the world, historically we’ve seen a Fall, Winter, Spring type of schedule. There are 100s/1000s of inactive account now as well. My clan, recently inherited, is “Open” and has 40/50 members. We’ve had 2 new people join in the last 2 months (terrible) and more than 50% is inactive already. ✓ If you’re good they give your opponent an advantageThis game would get 5 stars if it wasn’t rigged. I have a very high win percentage and once you advance through the game with that high win percentage, they start to give your opponent an obvious advantage. I just played 10 games in a row to test this and look for things I thought were happening. Out of those 10 games I went first 1 time! They also allow your opponents to stay in the game after you‘ve eliminated them and don’t extend that to you. In those 10 games, I left the opposing player with no life in their 16 times and they were deemed to not be killed and allowed to continue fighting. Not one time did any of my characters show zero health and be allowed to continue. They also change the rules for proximity. During my turn I have left players overlapping my opponents and they didn’t allow me to register a hit a single time out of 4 times, however my opponent was allowed to register hits in the exact same situation or slightly further 7 times in those 10 games. ✓ A few issuesI want to start off by saying that I like this game. It’s fun, you can build your way up without spending money, and there are a lot of different and (for the most part) balanced characters to use. There are a few issues I have with the game though. First and foremost, matchmaking does not favor a fair match, especially in challenges. Players with much higher leveled cards are often placed against those who might have just started. This is not conducive to a fun, or fair, match. The same sometimes goes for normal matches. While I understand the need to base battles off of trophy amount, some battles end really before they have started due to the card levels. Another issue I’ve seen in this game is the inability to gain rare or epic cards from lower tier orbs. I think that allowing a rare card to, rarely, be obtained from a common orb and allowing an epic card, again rarely, to be obtained from a rare orb would allow for players that don’t spend money on the game to better enjoy it. ✓ Good game but broken shopA really good game, let down by the shop mechanics. Orbs are pretty prohibitively expensive from the start of the game and increase in price in line with your trophies making it impossible to earn enough gems in game to buy them. The cost of them gets so high I wouldn’t spend actual money for such a low return. I will say however top level characters are pretty readily available in game, can be bought with in game gold and epic orbs can be found occasionally. The problem is you’re better off upgrading commons and using them, a quick look at the top of the leaderboard shows that other players have realised this also. ✓ Wrong way!!!!!Addition.....I understand the need for card adjustments, it is needed ina game so that it does not become stale by seeing the same cards over and over match after match. But in the case like the yeti where you took it from the bouncy boss it once was to a basically useless dps with lots of health it eliminated it from being a viable card to use at all. Why did you remove the ability to keep the damage until he end of his turn? It’s still there for the barbarian, you even removed it from the description of his power!? ✓ New heroes aren’t balanced, ruins the fun of the game.The developers have a serious power creep problem, the new heroes are crazy powerful, which cause problems with the meta, they’re heroes you can’t afford to get, but they shake up the game. Such as the new one with the cat “Thunder Paws” literally just bounces off her teammates and can knock out 3/4 of your health on EVERY hero because they were grouped strange. It’s genuinely so frustrating. My main problems heroes: Thunder Paws: her thunder strikes can overlap and cause ludicrous amounts of damage due to an unlucky grouping: reduce thunder radius or make them only apply to one enemy Rocketeer: Too much damage added each hit. He’s alright, I really enjoy playing him, but he can be a little devastating with lucky bounces The crow guy: also devastating, annoying, crazy when paired with wraith, essentially rocketeer without the ability to knock people around. Champion: he’s really luck based, not hugely problematic, but he’s one of the most chosen heroes in the challenge mode for a reason. ✓ Great game if you pay them. Patch 2.1.50 death of f2pGeewa recently released 2.1.50 which effectively killed free to play progress. You used to have personal quests which would refresh every so often neting you some gold and points towards your bonus orbs. There were 3 bonus orbs you would get which would give you much needed cards to increase your levels. This change has removed the two bonus orbs. Instead you are now left with a personal quest that resets every 24 hours, gives gives you a little bit of gold and unlocks a tier for your season rewards(you already had this). At the end of the tiers is a bonus orbs which you must purchase the $4.99 season pass which resets every 14 days I think. So you know have to pay 4.99 every 14 days for a small chance at getting some extra cards you needed. Additionally, there is very little incentive to play. I used to work on my personal quests every day. Now you get 1 personal quest every 24 hours. This is just further pushing this great game to pay to win..Version: 2.1.50.7125

You’ll progress at an extremely slow rate unless you at minimum get the season pass. But in order to not get swamped by unfair team match making you’ll have to pay considerably more. This would be semi acceptable if there was a max level for characters ( so in theory once you’ve maxed a team you’ll not have to worry about facing much higher levels ) you’ll come to realise the devs routinely increase the “Max level “ meaning you’ll never escape the unfair match making forcing you to either play through pain staking matches you know you have no chance against or surrender. I attempted to speak to devs several times being a long time player and find they fob you off with how they’ve made lower level characters better to even if up etc, truth of it is you’ll be pushed towards paying to speed you the process of unfair match making. ✓ Suspicious kicksI have never written a review before but this was too annoying to pass up When I first got this game I immediately saw that this is just a knock-off of clash royals. However, it was fun, really fun. Until I reached about 600 trophies I realized something very suspicious... almost every-time I was going to win, I got a WiFi alert and was kicked from the game. What is funny, though, on the same data I never got kicked when I was about to lose only when I was about to win. And whenever I was kicked I had full data bars and immediately aloud back into the game. So it’s not the WiFi that’s the problem. Is it just preventing players from beating the game to fast hmmmm. ✓ New update is disappointingApologies for this long review, but I have loved this game for a very long time, but since the most recent update, it has just been frustrating and disappointing. The focus of the game seems to have changed... What I mean by this is: 1. The daily trophy challenge has been taken away. This was a big reason I came on throughout the day to play a few games saving up for an orb. Which I thoroughly enjoyed doing. 2. Free chest with cards and gems has been removed. This was also a reason I checked up on the game regularly. With regards to the gems.. 3. Gems, seems these have been taken out of the prize pools from orbs, thus meaning in order to ever get any, you have to purchase packs. There is nothing more aggravating than games that require constant purchases in order for you to get anywhere. Up until this point, this game has not been like that. You could save up for a few weeks and use the gems for something small. Seeing as I never felt like I was being forced to make purchases, I would buy a couple packs here and there.. I’d see this as a way to support the developers, and get a bit of a boost in gem collection speeds, or card collections. HOWEVER, now that gems are only obtainable through the store it feels like they are trying to force purchases from you. This does not sit well with me. I readily avoid games like this as I feel like it is purely greed and makes me feel ripped off if I ever do make a purchase (which I likely will no longer do). ******* So all in all, I have very little motivation to come on during the day for the silly little challenges they have brought in (clearly in an attempt to make you spend coin faster(eg. upgrade 2 heros, I see what you are doing there)). ✓ Love it, but....There should be a way to discard orbs. When you force us to either wait or pay for gems to unlock sooner you’re loosing allot of your fan base. When my orb slots are full I go ahead and close the game out. I would like to keep playing but I can’t keep collecting orbs so why would I? ✓ Solid gameThis is a solid game and like to play it. My only issue with this game, it seems that if it can go wrong it will every time. Seems like every move you make puts you in a position for an opponent move that decimates your team. Like every single time. I can be killing someone I’m playing and then out of the blue, after each move they make I have no moves I can make to do much damage. There is an ice board where ice boulders just appear before your move. Seems random at first but kill two opponents and then the ice boulders appear to block your move. I have opponents down to one character with minimal energy and I have 2 or 2 characters left. Before each of my turns the ice boulders seem to block and possible way of hitting my opponent.
