✓ Not too badThe good: Pretty graphics. Many of the bosses do feel rewarding after finally winning after the 100th try. Nice music. Nice variety of enemies and weapons. Nice upgrade system, simple and well implemented. The bad: I have the newest iPhone and experience slowdown if there are too many enemies onscreen. This becomes frustrating when many of your button presses aren’t registered. The difficulty on some bosses feels like it’s hard because the game is unfair, rather than hard because the player isn’t skilled enough. The player’s button presses feel delayed, it doesn’t feel like the player has the mobility needed to really feel in control. The game also feels like it’s difficulty isn’t really linear. You’ll have a boss that’s nearly impossible because they unavoidably jump on top of you or run at you while two fast minions carve you up. Then the next level will be a piece of cake. Overall, I would have liked a game with no slowdown (of course it doesn’t slow down with minimal graphic settings), a game where I feel that my losses are my fault rather than enemies using cheap attacks and maybe a better progression of boss difficulty. For example, why the heck are you putting that sword knight at the very beginning of the game? Also, multiple enemies should be able to hit each other , allowing the player to strategically place them to only battle one at a time. Anyway, these flaws make what could be an amazing game , an average game..TrentVanoVersion: 1.0.4

✓ Unfair In App PurchasesThe game itself is great, however when you run out of revives that it! You need to pay 2k Gems which cost £9.99, there should not be IAP like this in a premium £7.99 game - End of!! I’m at a level where I have 0 left an they don’t rest & I’m stuck.EufeionVersion: 1.0.4

✓ FlawedI’m writing mostly to the developer of this game. This is very much a Soul’s inspired game, but unlike its progenitors is mired in artificial difficulty. I say this because the dodge mechanic might not even be there because there are practically zero i-frames. And then you have the bosses which attack at the speed of light while you are still winding up for your own attack and then eating dirt. I would challenge the dev to make the bosses telegraph their moves a lot better rather than basically instagibbing you instantly. I’ve played Ire which with its same faults is not nearly as heinous as this game. In many games there is fairness while being difficult, but this is not one of them..Based PootVersion: 1.0.4

✓ BoringFeels like you’re playing the same thing over and over again. Controls are clunky to say the least. No real physics engine during battles, sloppy response. The environment is the worst, rehashed sameness every level. If you’re going to make battles the entire point of the game, why not actually make said battles actually realistic. ✓ This game is too hard for people who aren’t die-hard fansI don’t have a game controller and was looking for a little bit of a challenging game - definitely challenging in that I, a regular gamer who has never touched dark souls or anything like that, simply cannot beat even the first boss. There is such a thing as too hard. I’m sure I’m missing something, but it’s really hard to tell what it is, as the “tutorial boss” is the one I can’t beat. ✓ AwfulThe game is not even remotely close to Dark Souls. Very bland environment nothing to look at. But this is not the main problem. He problem is that the game costs $9 and yet they have micro transactions without which you cannot proceed further in the game because you actually need to pay more money to upgrade your armor and weapons. ✓ There’s something here but not enough tutorialsThere’s something special here, a challenging and skill based game. But there’s simply no documentation, tutorials or explanation. Casual players will hit a wall and quit. A developer response from an earlier review contained excellent and vital information. However I shouldn’t have to come on the review page to see it and learn how to play the game . I’m going to trash this game for now. ✓ Don’t buyThis game’s graphics and story line are well done. If you like to spend lots of money on a game, go ahead and make the developers rich. I spent money to buy the game and then found that I had to keep spending MORE money to advance levels. Every boss gets harder than you can beat without spending money for upgrades. ✓ DisappointedMaybe I’m spoiled by how well the Dark Souls series feels but the controls fee stiff and unresponsive. Collision feels off, I feel like I’m getting hit when I shouldn’t and that makes the micro transactions seem in bad taste. ✓ Broken halfway throughThe first few areas are amazing. It was quickly becoming my favorite mobile game ever. About halfway through the map there’s an enemy called warrior of lightning. The boss wields a sword like the black knights greatsword in dark souls, it is stronger than any weapon you have yet it swings faster than the lightest weapon. It makes no sense especially considering before this point the game was great. This enemy’s hit boxes are completely broken in dark souls the bkgs is very easy to dodge. ✓ NEEDS UPDATE!!The game crashes a lot, and it lags a lot causing your attacks to not register. This happens even when using the low graphics option. This can be infuriating! The concept of the games is good. A little Dark souls/Diablo challenge but can be overcome with the right gear. ✓ Good idea, clunky controls and microtransactionsI am an avid player of the dark souls games and have played and finished every game in the series at least twice including bloodborne and demon's souls, this game is a great concept, I love that this game is a little like dark souls on your phone, however the controls are clunky and feel a little unresponsive for a style of game where it is a necessity to react quickly. My other problem with this game is that it has microtransactions, which would be fine if the game was free but considering it is in the territory of being a more expensive game on the app store, it is disgusting that microtransactions are being forced at me. ✓ Like a low rent souls.Animations, controls and graphics need polish. Player runs and walks in too brisk a motion. No shadows makes your player and the monsters look like they’re floating. There’s a ton of on screen buttons and the tips at the top are not enough to explain wth is going on. I suspect the developers really enjoyed the mystery of Dark Souls not spoon feeding you everything. Well in this case is appears to be an excuse to leave out a tutorial or even basic image with the buttons explained. Even then, can I dodge left/right or only back? Finally, there’s zero justification for the boss names. There’s no story or reason for calling the first boss the Sunken Knight. It’s unnecessarily overly ambitious and ends up being surface level to the depth that Dark Souls offered. Look, I’m not comparing you to DS, you’re the ones trying to clone it. Souls-like is one thing, this is a poor attempt to clone it. I’ll keep going to see if it the gameplay ends up working, but I’m tired of dying because Touch screen controls aren’t suitable for a 10 button action game.
