Kauldron Synthesizer for Negative User Reviews

AUv3 implementation terribleI really wanted to love this synth and as a standalone it sounds pretty good however, I only bought it to use in Cubasis/GarageBand as an Audio Unit Plug-in and although the description says it is an AUv3 it’s flaky at best. First up it just randomly crashes inside the host (both GarageBand and Cubasis) and also when you have multiple instances (in fact any other software synth loaded) when you play the midi controller keyboard it plays every single instance of it at the same time along with any other synth loaded even when the track is not armed - none of my other AUv3 plugins behave this way at all. The same happens with your KASPAR synth too so there is something inherently wrong somewhere..Version: 1.0

Both Magellan And Kaspar are betterOverhyped... Uninstalled. I own every Yonac app and IAP... You can skip this one unless you like the idea of the Yonac sound sans what it’s other synths bring to the table but.with AU thrown in (even the Randomizer on this one isn’t as good as the one on Magellan... or maybe it’s just that it has less to work with)..Version: 1.0

Needs updatingMidi learn functions not saved. Am I missing something? Sometimes glitchy.Version: 1.0

Alright Sounding SynthIf this had come out a couple of years ago, I might have given it 4 stars. However, the world has moved on and with the likes of Model 15, Zeeon and DRC on the market, this just doesn’t compare. The sound just lacks the “analogue character” you get with the more recent releases. Saying that, the low price point makes it worth a look if you’re on a budget and don’t already own the synths mentioned above..Version: 1.0

Won’t load into Logic ProIt’s been working and all the sudden today it says it can’t load into Logic Pro and to contact the manufacturer..Version: 1.1

Still no fix for the AUv3 bugKauldron is a great standalone iOS synth. Unfortunately, it’s effectively useless as a plugin due to a bug that I reported over a year ago. When loaded as an AUv3 (I’ve tried it in BeatMaker 3, GarageBand, NanoStudio 2) with a MIDI keyboard connected over Lightning, Kauldron doesn’t conform to the standard behavior of only receiving MIDI notes when its track is selected. Instead, it receives notes regardless of the current track. So if you record a bass line with Kauldron and then try to record a lead with Zeeon, Model 15, or any other AUv3, your lead also triggers notes on Kauldron. As I said above, I reported this bug over a year ago, and never received a response. It’s disappointing because Kauldron sounds great! I’d love to use it in my iOS production, but I can’t with this workflow-breaking bug..Version: 1.0

A stunner at the price, but in the scheme of things...Quality-made, well-functioning app, but lacks the oomph of Model 15 and Zeeon, the analog-modeling standard bearers. Like Kaspar, in my opinion this synth is lacking in personality. Just like the other, it has a hard-to-describe ‘sheen’ to it that keeps the synth from busting out and sounding truly organic. There’s no oomph. Having owned all the other Yonac synths, this is something common between them all, so if you’ve liked that ‘Yonac sound’ in the past, I’m sure you’ll be satisfied. Still, this doesn’t offer anything new other than an excellent random feature. I don’t think you can do better for $4, but at regular price ($10), see Zeeon for your analog-modeling needs..Version: 1.0

Strange behavior, no tech supportI adjusted the filter, including the adsr to something approximating a brass sound, with Osc 2 and 3 off. Then I applied some glide and suddenly the sounds became low volume beeps and there was no way to recover, no reset to default seems to exist, couldn’t find it in the manual either. Exit the app, leave it alone for 24 hr, and it seems fine, glide works the way it should. After reading the manual, which is more of a list than explanation, I got more ambitious and added the other Oscs, fooled around with the second set of adsr and drift and voices, things seemed to work, although the second adsr set is a bit weird. I had written to Yonac about Kauldron a week before, got no form reply nor tech support. I think I could rate this app four if I thought there was any support. I haven’t tried presets yet but I think I will have to, because the app certainly doesn’t load with your last settings, in fact some knobs are not where you would think they would be and others have stayed where they were. Default behavior and reset are not in the manual, nor is there a a good discussion of all adsr behavior. The filter settings don’t have any meaningful indices that I can see, you don’t know where the resonance is, and there is only one (steep) roll off so you really can’t do brass effectively. EDIT: I have again used the Yonac website contact form and received no acknowledgement or response, so I have to conclude that there is NO tech support, so I have reduced my rating to one star, because you can’t do no stars. Second EDIT: I actually got a response after two days, to my 3rd email, but the tech seems not to have read the manual. I have replied but don’t have much hope for a real answer. Third Edit: I have written to Yonac at least four times, and received one reply mentioned above, so I really can’t understand all the rave reviews, the ADSR is goofy and uncalibratable, for instance if you set what you would think is a very short attack and set what Yonac says is a high amplitude, it takes seconds for a tone to reach peak. This is ridiculous. Fourth edit: There is no version history, there is no tech support, I have to believe this app has been abandoned. You can not get into the Yonac forum on iOS, but I have posted from my Mac and there have been a few views but no response, so I have to think that it didn’t sell, and that some of the problems I have described have been experienced by other who also got no response and deleted the app. I am not ready to give up on it, but I am absolutely you can not synth brass adequately, because the adsr is crazy, the cutoff is way too steep, and you can’t place the resonance with any certainty. There does not seem to be a brass instrument in any of the many presets , which would seem to make my point. I notice there are only a few developer responses in the reviews and they are all canned..Version: 1.0

ModulationHow do you define Mod control 1-4 in the modulation matrix?.Version: 1.0

Fail, if you use a iconnectivy interfaceI have a lot of synth apps, and they all work with iconnectivity....except this one. So it’s worthless to me. If they convince me it does work, then prove it and I’ll change my rating..Version: 1.0

Not working on latest iOSStarts and quits.Version: 1.0
