T:connect pros and consWhat I like: Yes, I can now bolus from my smartphone and the info provided on the state of affairs is good. What I don’t like: t:connect seems to easily lose connection to the G6 transmiter unlike the Dexcom G6 App which rarely does (operates concurrently with t:connect). t:connect seems to cause battery life to suffer on my iPhone 12. The glucose value is often displayed on the dashboard as the first digit of the value followed by three dots, i.e. “1…” and rather than try to figure it out from the graph I go to the Decvom G6 app for a nice big display of my current value and unobstructed trend. If I had to choose I’d take the Dexcom App for good connectivity & value display and t:connect for remote bolus, however, t:connect bolus access is far too tedious to use easily…to many security layers. All in all it’s ok but still room for improvement..Version: 2.3.1

Kills My Battery LifeI’ve used this app on two phones, a brand new SE 3rd Gen and a handmedown iPhone 11 Pro. On both it drained a ton of battery life, especially the SE, I could only get through half a day of minor phone use (texting, a bit of safari, weather, etc) without it dying. I actually sent the phone back to Apple, thinking there was a problem, but they didn’t find one. Later it occurred to me to delete the T connect app and see what happened, problem solved! And I’ve had similar but not as extreme battery life issues with the iPhone 11 Pro, which also went away upon deleting the app. It’s a bummer because I love what the app does, the more detailed view of all the bolus and basal rate changes throughout the day, and the easy upload to the doctor’s office..Version: 2.4.2

New version is terribleI’m really disappointed with this version of a previously good app. I loved the last version of this app, but the new version has many display issues. It seems to want to redraw every time I open it (I mean open, not just start up). It looses history regularly and eats up my battery. I wish I could go back to the previous version or that they make a fix to this version QUICKLY. Tech support contacted me and had me uninstall and reinstall the app. It is still having display issues (although not as often) and crashes regularly causing it to loose my history. I’m still extremely frustrated and disappointed with this version of the app. It didn’t give me any new features that I needed and is now a major problem in managing my diabetes..Version: 2.7.1

Usually great but last update buggyEdit: Dropping from three stars to one star. A week later and I woke up to my pump no longer connected to my Dexcom or phone and it has Bluetooth settings deactivated with no ability to even enter that menu. I was relying on control iq overnight for lows while living alone. This is very concerning. I don’t understand why tandem isn’t communicating with their patients proactively. I shouldn’t have to come to the App Store reviews to see other people having the same problem. —- Usually great but the last update is causing my blood sugar dot graph to disappear. Force closing app then refreshing usually makes it better. Graph is normal on pump. Also destroying battery. Went through 45% of pump battery today rather than normal 10-15. Again, app is usually stable but something is wrong atm. iPhone 13mini iOS 17.3.1..Version: 2.7

When it works, it’s greatGenerally, I love this app. I love that I can bolus from my phone without dealing with my pump. However, it needs work. Anytime your phone’s battery dies, you have to delete and reinstall the app, because it will refuse to reconnect with your pump. Every time you go to give a bolus and your BG isn’t at 115 (if you’re using control IQ) it gives you a pop-up either asking to add a correction or letting you know the bolus will be reduced to adjust to your BG. I don’t need a pop up for that. I do not need to acknowledge that every time I give insulin. Give me a button to add a correction and leave a permanent note on the page that boluses will be changed based on BG when you push that button. Otherwise, leave me alone! Let me do my diabetes!.Version: 2.4.2

Fix updateFeb 20 update drained my iPhone iOS 17.3.1 by end of day and my pump battery went from 100% charged to 25% after this update within one day. I immediately closed app and have not attempted to use since and both phone and pump battery continue to behave normally. Data would constantly reload and not show or app not be connected to pump. Had no issues prior. Tried app again after next update about a month ago: was working ok for awhile, data still would disappear randomly, battery life not great, but wasn’t worried about battery draining and pump shutting off overnight. Until very recently; don’t know what changed but pump went from being fully charged the night before to 20% critical battery alert in the morning. I tried using app again during the day after a full charge, and watched it consistently drop 10% per hour until I gave up, disconnected the Bluetooth. I cannot risk using the app, nor waste my time until whatever problems are resolved..Version: 2.7.1

5 stars - until recentlyThis app does (did) everything I want it to. No issues, no complaints. Just recently they added a note not to upgrade to IOS 16 or you would lose bolus from phone feature. I turned off automatic updates and held out as long as I could. Like many people, I use my cell phone for work. Like many companies, my employer uses security software on our phones to make sure they are safe to connect to corporate resources. They required me to update for security patches. Finally I was forced to choose between using my phone for work and ability to bolus from phone. So, I have no more bolus from phone. I know this is a new feature, and not a necessity, but I really miss it. IOS 16 has been out for some time. I’m sure as a developer Tandem had early access to it. How long before this issue is resolved?.Version: 2.2

This app was poorly designedFirst, the app will not work with iOS 16. iOS 16 should not have been a surprise. Why didn’t Tandem’s developers prepare so that people that want to upgrade their phones would be able to? Second, the app does not perform all of the pumps functions. For instance, the app allows you to deliver a bolus, but it does not allow you to deliver an extended bolus. Tandem should have included all of the important functionality when they released this app. Instead of the extremely limited functionality that they included in the app, they should have had the app display exactly what is displayed on the pump screen and provide buttons that mimic what is on the pump. Not including the ability to do an extended bolus is really a serious design flaw. Third, the chart displaying Dexcom data is terrific, I love the way that it shows basal rates and boluses, but it would be far better and more useful if it showed more than just 24 hours. Tandem should consider hiring diabetic people to participate in the design and development process of the app and pump features, and also have diabetics try the features before releasing such a poor app. I am a diabetic using the t:slim X2 pump, and I am also a Tandem shareholder. The remote bolus feature and app are a real disappointment..Version: 2.2

Latest app update is a WRECKThis app used to be so consistent, it was better at displaying current CGM data than even my CGM’s own widget was (Dexcom G6). As of the last update, however, it’s a wreck. It’s not loading history, or doing it sporadically, and trying to close and relaunch makes it worse not better—deleted what was there and often still does not reload in any reasonable time frame. If I give up, move on, then come back much much later it has (usually) reloaded history but often not the most recent 3 hours. It’s also now crashing on a regular basis when before that was extremely rare. Thankfully bolus from app still works, but if it won’t pull current CGM reading it can’t do correction bolus calculations. Every once in a while the bolus function disappears so i must relaunch to get it back. This glitch has existed for a long time, ever since they rolled out that capability. But it was rare and behind this latest update there app was otherwise very reliable. Now it’s bordering on worse than useless. This release was NOT ready. Way, WAY too buggy. There’s no way it was tested adequately before release. Love this pump and—until now—it’s app. Please give me back my good, solid, frustration-free experience!!.Version: 2.7

Modern diabetes options finallyGreat first iteration of this app. Overall happy with it and being able to see at a glance what my pump is doing. Some things that need to be added/fixed. 1.) The control iq symbol should be displayed top left of the graph like on the pump. Currently you have to swipe down to see if it’s active, on etc. 2.) should be able to control the pump from the app for clearing notifications at minium but long term for bolusing, adjusting settings etc. 3.) Apple Watch support!!! We need complications on the Apple Watch so we can see at a glance what our pump is doing but also control it from the watch and clear notifications etc. 4.) Apple health support should be supported already. It’s a couple of checkboxes in Xcode when writing the app and it’s a big fail that it’s not supported already. I should be able to write all the carb, blood glucose and insulin data that the app already knows about into health so I can then use it in my other apps as I see fit. It’s my data give me access to it. 5.) widget support so we can quickly swipe down on the iphone and see at a glance what the pump is doing. Overall great start from the only diabetes company willing to push common technology into the type 1 space..Version: 1.1.1

At firstI loved this app. Very informative. I was actually happy that I could see all the information on it. But. Then came the “lost connection make sure phone and pump are near each other” okay whatever. No biggie I suppose. Maybe it was close at that time. Even thought I had my phone on my night stand. Then I got more alerts like this. I’m like wth, my phone and pump are right beside of each other. Guess what? Now it shows they need to be near each other again. My pump on my shirt. It’s there with a clip so it’s not going anywhere. And as you see, my phone is in my hands. So they are near each other. These things are always near each other. Right now it’s telling me that my pump has lost connection over a day! This app to me is trash. It’s a good thing I have the other app that alerts you if my blood sugar goes to high or low. Because this app, is useless!.Version: 1.5

Issues with Tandem t:connect mobile app - after recent upgrade to v2.7Following a recent app upgrade to v2.7 (after holding off for a few weeks), I immediately noticed several negative app behavior changes: More frequent interruptions / gaps of displayed 24-hour BG and dosing history, requiring app close and reopen to resolve issue short-term (adverse app behavior returns after this corrective action - multiple times per day). Greater app stability, reliability, and expected capabilities is much preferred over T1D patient “babysitting” an unstable app. Prior to this app upgrade, I was able to touch a dosing icon (sun shape or teardrop) on the 24-hour history display - to display details on that dosing. This simple and useful feature no longer works after the app upgrade. Even after an iPhone power off and reboot. Really? Estimated release date of next bug-fix app version? Will fixes to issues stated above be included in this next released bug-fix version? How can I easily revert to the prior app version v2.6.2 (had lesser issues but was relatively more stable), preferably without having to re-enter t:connect credentials and other first-time app setup / config info again? Mobile device: Apple iPhone X OS: iOS 16.6.1.Version: 2.7

Keeps closingI’ve had this app several years now. Since updating to mobile bolus option I’ve hadnothing but troubles. It will not stay running. When I open the app it automatically closes out. I’ve tried rebooting my phone and closing reopening the app. It comes down to having to uninstall and reinstall the app, here lately almost once a week. It’s done it on last 2-3 phone software updates as well. I’ve not updated my phone and updated, makes no difference. Back in August when it did this it was not showing as running in the back ground but was draining my phone. My phone was so hot it hurt to hold it. When I opened settings to see what was draining it, this app was using 80% of my battery, but not showing as running in background. I went from 100% to 30% in 45 minutes with no other apps running. After uninstalling app my phone was normal again. Last time I talked to tandem in august they said nothing wrong with app. Well here it is April and I’ve uninstalled and installed several times and went without the app for periods of time hoping maybe the glitch would be fixed. To my surprise, it’s not. It’s been doing same thing for last 2 days, finally took back off my phone this morning. I’m beyond frustrated. I was so excited when the mobile bolus option finally came out. Just wish I could use it for more than a week (if that) at a time. Without having to go through the process of uninstalling/reinstalling and having to repair my pump every time..Version: 2.3.1

It doesn’t give transmitter life.Do not trust this app to tell you what life your Dexcom transmitter has left. On more than one occasion I have replaced the sensor, and then been notified a few days later that the transmitter needs to be replaced. If I had a way to know how much time had expired, then I would replace both at the same time. Which would save me time and the cost of having to replace a brand new sensor. There is nothing on the pump or the app which gives you this information, which means that you have to run it concurrently with the Dexcom app. All the while eating up your phone battery and giving you multiple warnings from multiple apps and devices. I was told by the Tandem trainer not to bother with the Dexcom app as everything needed to be done from the pump. I think the company needs to straighten it out, and train the trainers as well. What a waste of time, effort and money..Version: 2.6

Started crashing on launch several days after iOS 16The app had worked for several days after upgrading to iOS 16. However, in the last day or so, the app has begun crashing on every launch. Restarting the phone & force-quitting the app have not helped, either. So now I can’t use the app at all on my phone. When the app used to work just fine on iOS 16 and then suddenly stops working with no apparent change to the operating system, it feels like Tandem broke the app intentionally using a server-side switch but I can’t come up with an plausible reason for doing so. I understand there are risks associated with initiating boluses on an untested operating system, so I am willing to tolerate being locked out of that functionality. As a software engineer, I still think it’s a dumb policy, but there’s nothing I can do about it. That said, if Tandem is going to continue with this policy, they really need to reduce the amount of time between operating system update and getting the software reviewed & approved. Lengthy delays put users at risk of becoming victims of security vulnerabilities that have already been fixed. Recommending users turn off auto-update functionality is a bad policy for users and this decision should be reversed..Version: 2.2

Cool potential feature. Extremely limited implementation. Mostly lame.Sure, it’s neat to be able to give yourself a bolus from your phone, but don’t be fooled, you’ll still be FORCED to interact with your pump more often than not. For one thing, you can’t do square or combo boluses via the phone. You can’t set temp rates or different activity profiles. Want to suspend your pump for a bit? NOPE! Can’t do that with the phone. But surely you can at least clear those annoying (and frequently unnecessary) pump alerts (e.g. “high glucose entered, please check blood sugar”) with your phone, right?! NOPE!! Now, if all those features are rolling out soon, then I’ll be happy to change my review as soon as they do. But until then, this is a neat feature with great potential and pretty lamely limited implementation..Version: 2.1.3

IPhone 14 Bugs!I just recently upgraded to the iPhone 14. The app no longer syncs pump data with the online portal. The dots show up as gray in the app. I keep the app open in the background with no luck. When i go to the account options in settings, it says i’m not signed in. When i sign back in, reconnect my pump via bluetooth and sync pump data, the dots still show up as gray and the data still doesn’t sync online! When you check the Profile menu in settings, it says i’m not signed in again… Additionally, the new bolus feature dialog box always shows up every time i open the app, no matter how many times i hit dismiss. FINALLY, there is a huge problem with the pump connecting with t:connect and battery. I noticed that the t:connect app when paired with my pump via bluetooth has been (on the most recent update) draining my battery very very quickly. My pump lasts less than 24 hours on battery when connected to the tconnect app!! One night i fell asleep and my pump died in the middle of the night causing my BG to skyrocket. Once i disconnected the app from the pump, I no longer had this problem. Please fix these issues. I will not use the app until these issues are fixed..Version: 2.3.1

Good in theory, but recently causing serious battery drainWith the last several updates, this app seems to be causing a major battery drain on the pump itself. It’s really striking. My pump will be fully charged in the morning, and an hour later will have dropped by 20%. Also sometime the app will appear glitchy, stuck in a refresh loop with “refreshing” flickering repeatedly at the top of the screen. Frequently upon opening the app, it will display a full screen notification describing the remote bolus feature, requiring the user to click “done” to move on, as though it’s my first time opening the app. Very concerning. Hopefully this gets resolved soon. I have already deleted and reinstalled the app once; just tried that again so hopefully it makes a difference..Version: 2.3.1

UnreliableI have been using a tandem pump for 4.5 years and this app is terrible. If I read an article on my brand new iPhone the app goes blank and I lose the information from the previous 24 hours. And they want me to use this app to deliver insulin? Sometimes it just crashes as soon as I open it in the morning to look at my blood sugar. The screen disappears and the phone goes back to the menu and all the previous information is gone. Thankfully the Dexcom app has the blood sugar reading, but it doesn’t track insulin delivery levels. I hope they fix it but I am not optimistic about that, since I have called them multiple times and they know exactly what I am talking about but offer no permanent fix. It’s very frustrating. I depend on good data dealing with type 1 diabetes..Version: 2.7

I want to like it…I like the app layout and the ease with which you can scroll back and see blood glucose levels throughout the day. However, my information rarely appears. The app shows me my current blood glucose, but has large gaps of information throughout the day. Sometimes, it shows me my glucose level and tells me I’m disconnected at the same time. I reached out to customer service and they told me to make sure the Bluetooth was connected, it was. They told me to delete app and reinstall, which I did, and it still doesn’t work. Then they reassured me that the data was there on their end, so I didn’t need to worry. Well, I still can’t see it. My dexcom app has all of the data present on its mobile app, so I don’t think it’s a connectivity issue. I’m running a new iPhone and I always have my phone in the pocket next to my pump..Version: 1.6

5 stars when it worksUnfortunately, although the current settings update, it often doesn’t update the graph making the viewing of trends impossible. (Fortunately the dexcom app still works to view CGM trends.) Additionally, it would be great if there was an easy way to view recent bolus history on this app (especially since the interface for viewing bolus history on the pump requires too many button pushes and doesn’t display the information in a convenient way; the Medtronic pump has a better interface for viewing bolus history). Also, although the graph for basal rates is helpful (when it loads, which it often doesn’t as noted above), but it would be nice to be able to see what the actual rates are without needed to log into the web portal..Version: 1.6

Pretty good, but alerts are mostly irrelevantI really appreciate being able to bolus and check my CGM reading from my phone. The alerts need some refinement. I keep getting a “please verify the time on your pump” alert when the time is just off by a few minutes. It’s so noisy that I disable alerts from the app and only enable them when I’m riding a bike and am willing to deal with these annoying time alerts in order to get blood glucose alerts, which is what I actually want. Even then, it is very distracting to get all these time alerts. And I’m not going to regularly dig into my pump’s settings to update the time by a few minutes. A much better approach would be to have the app update the pump’s time automatically and not show an alert for this..Version: 2.7

Improvements PleaseI have been using this app and from what I can tell it is mostly a waste, unfortunately. Here are some issues: 1- you cannot adjust the pump from your app. I understand the potential issues with this considering it is a medical device and all. However, it would be great to have a pin or something I could input to pump insulin from my phone. This could create that confirmation attribute that is needed to prevent accidents. The pump is almost annoying to pull out every time I need insulin. 2-why on earth can I not remove notifications from my app. What is the purpose of this app if I can’t even remove the notifications that alert. Many types just say remove from pump. That would be fine except it kills my battery to clear these things. 3-keep it from KILLING MY PUMP BATTERY! What I mean by this is simple: because of the lack of interface on the app, I must interact with my pump physically which creates screen time and drains the battery. I can do without a phone…a pump not as much. This app is only good for sharing. I’m not all that concerned on the dr seeing something that me - a diabetic of 33 years (pump for 17)- won’t see and adjust before our next meeting. What I need is freedom and independence from the physical touch. I will almost definitely delete this thing soon if nothing changes….Version: 1.6
