Santorini Board Game for Positive User Reviews

One fatal flawOverall I love this game and am very happy with it. Clean and well executed in almost every aspect. However, when playing against the AI on “Godlike” difficulty, the AI takes MINUTES for each move. It’s so slow it makes it basically unplayable at this difficulty..Version: 1.113

Santorini don’t you be a meanieLove this game; it is one of my all time favorite board games!!.Version: 1.0

Great gameGame plays well, there is the occasional stutter but nothing too game breaking. This game is abreast strategy game and the AI does make this game pretty challenging. Would greatly recommend..Version: 1.03

Great Game! REALLY Tough, but fun!The “tutorial” is a series of videos, so beware. The gameplay is pretty straightforward, but each god has a twist, so I think it took me 30 games to win one, but even at a 30 to 1 loss rate, the game is still really fun. The sessions are short, which is perfect for mobile. I’ve already purchased all the DLC packs, and the new gods are a blast! This is the ultimate “simple to learn, lifetime to master” game. It is a battery killer, so beware of that. Kinda unavoidable in good premium games..Version: 1.0

Fun gameThe AI can be tough even on lowest level. I have the board game so decided to pick this up..Version: 1.02

Amazingly good, missing one featureSantorini the board game is possibly among the 5x5 board is the perfect size and the gods abilities are well crafted. the only flaw i see in this game is the lack of a “random, god only” choice: the random pick might match a god up against a hero (which have single-use powers that don’t balance)..Version: 1.81

An outstanding conversionI've been a huge fan of the physical board game, but this conversion is a really great step up. The campaign and multiplayer are fantastic and have kept me entertained for hours at a time. The play with friends option could use some work as the 'code'mechanic feels clunky, but this is a minor point in an otherwise stellar release!.Version: 1.03

Great game but can we have portrait modeA portrait mode would make it much easier to play on mobile..Version: 1.03

Missing play with friendsGreat game, really love it. Apart from the long queues for ranked (what can you do, hope it gets more popular), the only missing thing is play with friends (from Game Center) without a turn timer (Carcassonne has it implemented really well, for example). The private game function is not the same..Version: 1.01

One of my favorite board game adaptationsWhen I first played Santorini in person, I was enthralled. It is one of my favorite abstract games ever. It has the right amount of depth, whimsy, and replayability to keep me engaged for long periods of time. However, I always worried that an iOS version wouldn’t do the game justice. It would be too hard to visualize the 3D board and make good decisions. The AI would be too complex with all the various God Powers. So it is with a huge sigh of relief and loud foot stomping that I am sooooo happy to report that these worries were completely unfounded. The game looks amazing. Rotating the game board to get different views is organic and natural. The colors are fabulous. The artwork is spot on from the original. The AI is devious with all god matchups. I am just gushing about this game right now. Sometimes the AI plays a god power and I get whomped. It’s too unfair. That matchup was impossible!!! And then I swap sides and watch the AI toss my unbeatable god power aside like a used toy. The AI knows what it’s doing and does it ruthlessly. I play at the Expert level. I’m too chicken to challenge God level yet. But I love watching the AI execute a god’s power and see different takes on how to gain advantage with it. I can definitely learn from this game. Lastly, I’m happy to report no crashes. At all. A few god powers are missing from the board game, I think. But maybe some just don’t make sense for the handheld version? Regardless of a few missing god powers, I think this game is a winner. It’s perfect for late night game sessions or quiet lunches. Real-time online play is nice, too. Some suggestions as of Aug, 2019: 1) I’d like my previous game settings to persist between sessions. I don’t like having to re-select an AI player every day. 2) Option to be able to study the board after the game is over to see what other moves I could have missed. 3) Ability to step through the game after it’s over, from move 1. 4) Randomize start player, or at least make it an option. 5) Can we have stats? ELO? Community win/loss rates with certain matchups? 6) Here’s a minor suggestion. Please leave the God names on the screen even when their god power instructions are hidden. 7) I don’t need it, but in-game rules would be nice for new players. It’s fairly lame not to have them. Literally take screenshots of the rulebooks and paste them in the game. It’s not hard. A+++.Version: 1.03

Impressive and well worth the cost.Super impressed with this board game adaptation. It’s so well done. Fantastic AI (almost too fantastic!😜) So much replayability, even without the extra gods. And it looks and sounds great. I haven’t encountered any bugs either and despite it being very early days I’ve gotten a match for an online game most of the times that I’ve tried. Just had to wait a minute or two. I don’t get to play physical board games very often so, sadly, my copy of Santorini doesn’t hit the table much; so I’m grateful this exists. 🙂.Version: 1.01

Great SoloI love board game apps, and this is a very good one: easy to navigate, crisp graphics. Honestly, I don’t play much online. I prefer solo play and this version of the game scratches the itch of a quick challenge when I can’t play the actual game...which is often. Great job!.Version: 1.115

Very well implementedGame plays well and great if you don't have time to being out the actual game. Can be a little jerky on iPad 3 but playable. Plays well on newer tablets/phones. Very long wait times for an online play, at this point not reliable as an online play with random people..Version: 1.86

Stunning implementation of a great gameSantorini is a wonderfully simple and and tactical abstract strategy game and this implementation is fantastic! There art is breathtaking and the user interface is highly usable on smaller devices like phones. There were some issues losing the video tutorials from within the app last I checked, but you can find them online. My only request would be that they do PC port. I’ve been burned one too many times by iOS changing things and games become unplayable because developers aren’t generating enough new income on older titles to justify the update. Please release it for PC!.Version: 1.119

Amazing game and amazing app!Love the board game, and now I love the app! Amazing job!.Version: 1.01

Stunning!I am ashamed to admit I am generally lazy when it comes to reviews and rarely take the time to write them, even when I’ve had a good time with an app. In the case of Santorini I felt compelled to do a review. This is because of a simple reason: the attention to detail on display here is just mindblowing. From just the pure visuals which are not only faithful to an already beautiful physical board game, but bring it to life in the most well executed way, to the fact that each god power seems to come with its own animations for the workers and effects for special powers (🤯), to the lovely music, which, get this, when a winning move is within reach, crescendos to a more triumphant loop. I mean... it’s just crazy! This is an approach usually reserved for AAA games, no doubt the game would be perfectly playable without this level of polish, but personally I have to just take a bow when I see this uncompromising passion put into a product. The fact that in this case it’s not a console holiday season blockbuster, but a digital conversion of a somewhat niche (albeit awesome) board game, is both slightly amusing, but mainly extremely commendable. Hats off to you devs, thank you for the love you’ve put into this conversion and I hope this review does its bit to help your game achieve the reach it deserves..Version: 1.116

Great game, amazing app!Love playing this strategy game with my kids, but with the app the ability to try out the various god powers and truly understand how they are supposed to work is outstanding! The game plays very smooth, but unfortunately doesn’t work on my kids iPad mini 1. Would be great if there was a “reset view” button..Version: 1.03

Love it, wish for just a little more helpAs resident board game geek in my house, it is useful learning as well as humbling to be able to play against the AI after playing the physical board game with my family. I do wish the helper portion of the game had a map section that would track your piece movement play whenever you are using a god who would otherwise be using the shield/hidden map options (e.g. Hecate). I know you can play a parallel 2 human game on your phone to track things in the board game but I would prefer not to have to pay to unlock gods again on my phone when I’ve bought the physical game already..Version: 1.120

Fantastic game, Fantastic digital implementationI’ve loved Santorini since I picked it up at Gen Con the first year it was released. I was so excited to see that it popped up in the App Store. This app does not disappoint. The graphics are beautiful and the interface is intuitive. Definitely five stars!.Version: 1.02

Great fun, great varietyExcellent adaptation and even better now that speed fixes are in place. Base game is great alone and having almost 60 fairly balanced characters to choose from gives it excellent variety..Version: 1.86

Love Love Love It!!I love this!! The board game is one of my favourites!! Super excited to have the electronic version for Santorini on the Go!!!.Version: 1.0

BrilliantCan’t sing praise enough for this game. Easy to understand, with tons of solo play content to get through. I’ve barely scratched the surface with multiplayer. One feature that is missing is iCloud sync. I can’t play with the same file synced between my iPhone and iPad..Version: 1.115

OnlineOnline feature is a work in progress :) join discord to make it easier.Version: 1.100

/-/Good game, very little players online - long que times.Version: 1.0

Great mobile versionThis game is great and the mobile adaptation is solid. Love it!.Version: 1.120

Love the app, looking forward to more content. The digital implementation of Santorini is excellent. Everything that I love about the physical board game is represented in the app, plus SO MUCH MORE. The ability to play against the AI takes it to another level. Playing against friends online it great too, I just wish it was easier to share an invitation code. It would be great if there was a button to either A) copy the code to the clipboard or B) automatically populate the code into a text message..Version: 1.0
