✓ This app would be great with cinema stabilization.This camera app could quickly rise to the top of the camera app food chain with 10 bit Dolby Vision. It would also benefit immensely from Cinema 1 / Cinema 2 level stabilization by tapping into the IBIS hardware / sesnsor shift technology of the iPhone 12 Pro Max. You should also consider adding ISO control, shutter speed ,white balance control and 24 fps. I hope some of these items are already scheduled for inclusion in your next update?.Version: 1.2.4
✓ Decent App… But Not impressedHas some nice features but I got this primarily for the blur background feature. Which is basic and static. You can use the blur feature if you purchase the app and once you edit in the blur, the blur doesn’t adjust with your movements. Also if you record using the app.. There doesn’t appear to be an option to delete recorded videos. Overall barely impressed by this App..Version: 1.4.5
✓ Nice bokeh video, but editing is absolute nightmareFinally got the bokeh video to work, but trying to edit my video with additional clips was a nightmare. They kept getting reordered and the automatic ripple delete was a pain because it would move clips that I didn’t want moved. I’ve worked with other video editing apps and have never had this many problems. I’ve had to constantly rearrange clips that seem to jump around. I want to like this app and invest in a subscription, but the editing experience needs to be vastly improved..Version: 1.3

✓ Re-purchase issueI’ve just been using the app for a couple weeks now. It’s been great. Although I’m torn between purchasing the pro version as I want access to other things. ✓ Must pay.This app is not free. There is no way to use or even try its features without signing up with a credit card for a week trial. It’s really frustrating to not even have access to any features before paying, I don’t like paying for apps and then being disappointed in the features so it seems more fair to allow one or so features (maybe allow people to take new video but not edit uploaded ones without paying) as opposed to hiding everything behind a paywall. If I click anything in the app it takes me to the paywall. Just charge folks a flat fee for using the app if there’s no way to use it without paying..Version: 1.5.3
✓ MehLike the early version of Focos, with photos. This app only works on portrait videos, or videos you take directly from the app. You can't just use any video in your album, if you want to use the Aperture feature. Using videos I already have, doesn't bring up the Aperture icon when I tap on parts of the video. I gave it 3 stars, only because when you do use/take portrait videos, it does a decent job of DoF. ✓ Way too many bugs.I’ve used this app for a while and the more I use it, the worse it seems to get. Sometimes you cannot use chromakey without soft locks, frame rate stutters, and the more layers you have in the timeline (which every good video editor utilizes), the more bugs will appear. I've edited my current project for about 10 hours and now I get a “cannot complete action “ error in the middle of the export. It just isn’t worth the hassle. Stick to PC editing if you want it done right, although I give this 2 stars for the amount of features it has..Version: 1.4.6
✓ PricingI would have bought this permanently but unfortunately, the developer has decided to charge on a weekly basis. This is contrary to pricing offered when browsing the pricing options in the App Store. I won’t be purchasing the app for £3.99 a week, that’s for sure. ✓ I would like to see more control for professionalsMaybe I missed some settings but it would be great if Focos Live gave you the ability to select your: - Frame Rate - ISO - Shutter Speed/Angle It’s a really impressive piece of software, but I would love to be able to work with it in 24p. ✓ Do not installSo I tested it out and it's literally the same as your normal camera zoomed in try it and you'll see yourself no difference. ✓ BadI got This app because all my friends had I phone 11s and there cameras were amassing because they had portrait I have I phone 8 so i looked for camera apps on my phone and found this the first problem was the notifications constantly then on the app despite it being called portrait didn’t DO PORTRAIT so I tried to delete the app and it made ME DISSALOW all the things it told me to and it still didn’t let me then i lost a load of data on notifications I do not recommend maby it was just me but I wouldn’t risk it I still have it now.Version: 1.0.2

I loved the camera features with the depth of field and cinematic options - used it loads for quick video intros and everything was fantastic Now, I can’t even get into previous projects and it’s making me pay a subscription? ✓ Almost Great!Such a bummer. This app is the most user-friendly of its kind and does exactly what you need. Makes your old iPhones camera a worthy opponent to the iPhone 13/14. The downside is that they’ve taken away the lifetime subscription and yearly subscription and now all that’s left is the weekly subscription… I don’t know about you, but I’d rather pay once, or once a year rather than weekly. ✓ Good app but subscription model is a deal breakerGood app for applying effects with an iPad but I hate keeping track of subscriptions. They bait you with an unlimited lifetime access but greed has taken over and another cheesy gym membership model has come into play. For me subscriptions are a deal breaker but if you like accumulating financial outflow this is a good app to help with the drain $10 a month/$120 a year. From Developer I can’t subscribe to the lifetime plan. How do I do this? Since the recent updates of the app, the lifetime subscription option that used to be offered in the past is no longer available—at least for the time being. We’re sorry if this doesn’t live up to your expectations! As the cost of the app may vary from time to time, we suggest that you always refer to the information visible on the payment screen in the app to know exactly what’s the offer that you can take advantage of. ✓ Portrait to cinematic??I can’t get into the app because it keeps saying it’s “converting all portrait videos to cinematic mode” and I “can’t exit the app until it’s finished processing”. And I realize it’s transferring all my videos to my phone . I have an iPhone 11 so I’m not supposed to have cinematic mode. I’m not sure why it’s doing this and I haven’t done anything differently. ✓ Latest release broke bokeh in videoIn earlier versions the app was doing a pretty good job to add bokeh in video. In latest version you see a boundary around the person that is not blurred even though the person is at least 8 ft away from the background. This is while using iPhone 12 pro with LIDAR and using the correct back camera. With LIDAR depth info, it should be obvious which pixels are in front and what is in background. I know the review sounds critical but it was improving so well and latest version made it unusable for bokeh in video. Please fix the issue (at least for stationary subjects in foreground ). ✓ Alright at first…I used focus live for about 2yrs and had some decent projects on their, but then they removed the free part and I’ve lost all of my projects! It’s a real shame as well because this was my go to editing app.Version: 1.4.9
✓ Aperture feature does not workEvery single time I tried to do exactly as the app instructed, taking video using portrait mode, I always got an error message saying that the aperture feature (which is really the whole point of this app) only works in portrait mode (which, again, I tried multiple times). More frustratingly, aperture as an option would completely disappear from the menu until I literally removed the app, reinstalled it, and started over, only to encounter the same problems. Considering the $15 dollars I just paid for this, it is a downright outrage. I want my money back. The unfortunate thing is that this app, in theory, seems like it would have some really useful features, but I no longer trust that this app will ever work. ✓ On the surface it’s perfect, but has many flawsPurchased the pro version, because I thought this was perfect at first. But after I had a look at the footage I took on a large computer screen, I noticed there is very obvious ‘blocky glitching’ in the background in areas that aren’t in focus. This is far less obvious on the iPhone 12 Pro screen. That is very disappointing since the purpose of this app is surely to make videos look more professional. On top of that, the bokeh does not seem to wrap around the edges entirely of people in focus, making it look very artificial. Again, this is more obvious on big screen. FYI, I export in 30fps at 4K on portrait mode on an iPhone 12 Pro, but the exported footage does not look 4K at all. Since then, I read the developers response to a review stating “The portrait video only outputs to 1080p, and there’s no way to export the 1080p 4K with better quality.” But the Pro version claims “Choose 1080p & 4K as export resolution for portrait videos & photos.” 🤷♂️ This comment was made before the release of the iPhone 12 so I don’t know if it is capable of being exported at 4K now, but it does not look it. Lastly, I don’t like that it is not made clear what resolution you are recording in. I can change the frame rate but not the resolution. Is it locked in at 1080p? 4K? Why can’t I change it to 720p? It feels like this is something that should an option like any other camera app..Version: 1.2.4

✓ Decent, needs some workBokeh effect is decent but isn’t great. It doesn’t do a great job of bringing the face into focus sharply against a background with patterns (like trees). It also has a quirk where you film a bunch of clips and then it forces you to wait until it processes all the clips (even the ones you don’t want) before you can edit the ones you do want. You should easily be able to discard the footage you don’t want and not waste time, battery and energy processing the garbage. Exporting works well and overall video quality is solid. ✓ Improvement neededIt’s an only app of this sort but needs quite a bit of improvement. Way to often some functions are not responding or not working for no reason. Some files are not get processed so when filming few files in the row some of them finally might not get processed and will be unusable. Processing takes quite a lot of time. ✓ Audio not being recordedThe app’s bokeh effect and editor are really amazing but I keep coming across videos being recorded with no sound. I would record a video with sound and right after I try to record another video without changing any of the settings and the video ends up with no audio. ✓ “Minor” issueI would like to start off by saying that this is a great app. I have been using it for a while now and bought the lifetime license not long after I started using it more regularly. Then came along the latest update. And in the release notes, you know, it looked like your regular semi-major update to an app, nothing out of the ordinary there. But then I tried copying a Cinematic video (The Focos Live version, not the Apple version) from my Mom’s phone to my iPad Pro. The first time I tried it, it worked; I opened the Focos Live app and the video I had copied over showed up as a Cinematic video. The second time I tried doing that, the video seemed to transfer just fine, but when I opened the Focos Live app, I was surprised to see that the video I had copied over had not registered as a Cinematic video. Instead, the Focos Live app thought it to be a regular video. And moving forward, this is the result I got every time. I was not, and still am not, able to copy a Cinematic video from one device to another and have the Focos Live app on the recipient device think it to be a Cinematic video. There’s even a warning to shoot cinematic in portrait style for best effect. The render time is more than double the vid time. and it failed to convert a 20 second video. The cost has skyrocketed to 5.40 per week Canadian. That’s $259.20 a year folks! And you don’t even own the app😮 Take away: If you are shooting short video for Instagram or TikTok and have somebody else paying your bills, then go for it. ✓ Great uses, terrible pay structure.I tried FocosLive during the first free week trial and quite liked it. It has a great “Blur” feature for videos, which is a “Pro” feature. I would be happy to pay an upfront amount for full app use — say, $50/year, as an example, but it is structured as $2.49/week and cancel whenever, but that seems to be the only option! $130/year for an app seems ridiculous. I don’t want to pay $2.49 every week I want to use the app! Instead, I will just delete this and look for others with a better/one-time payment structure with similar features..Version: 1.4.7
