✓ INCOMPATIBLE-does NOT work on iPad mini 2So 1 star ONLY because it doesn’t work on iPad mini 2 DESPITE the description saying ‘works with this iPad,¡ down in compatibility. I double checked before downloading to see if it would be compatible and it said it was fine. If it’s incompatible then WHY did it let me download it? It’s so baffling-I just downloaded it 3 days ago and have not been able to play. When I open the app the screen says it’s not compatible yet I ask once again: why could I down it in the first place if it won’t work on iPad mini 2?? It makes absolutely zero sense!! ✓ Give me the original any dayWhat I wanted, what I hoped for when I downloaded this was a mobile version of The Witcher 3 Gwent game. Something I could play whenever I wanted without having to fire up my games console. Something that while graphically spruced up with slicker visuals and pretty animations would, at its heart, be the same game. It’s not. It’s too complicated, with too many variations of power-ups and power-downs. You spend too long reading all the descriptions and trying to work out what can do what to who. This isn’t Dungeons and Dragons, it’s a quick fix mobile game. There’s also no ‘seige’ row (I assume a product of the smaller screen size) which takes away another significant element of the original. Such a shame as I really like playing Gwent, so I’ll just have to sit in front of my TV to do it..Version: 7.2
✓ Account recovery/set up issuesI had signed up for the beta for this game and I thought it was great-minor issues to be worked out but great experience. I stopped playing after I figured out my skill level was a bit too low for this game. After looking for another app today I ran across this game again and decided to download. I wanted to create an account on my iPad Pro, and it wouldn’t recognize my Smart Keyboard or my Bluetooth keyboard. I tried making the account through apple, and it half worked the first time when I removed the iPad from its stand and used the touchscreen keypad. When I entered my chosen user name it wouldn’t allow me to create it since I had already used it for the beta, so I thought of the great idea to go back and try to log in with my old log in info for the beta and it wouldn’t let me. It said account was non-existent, and when I tried to go back and creat an account through apple again, it wouldn’t let me type- not even with the touchscreen keypad. In super simple words, the one thing keeping me from playing this game is the fact that I cannot recover my account or create a new one..Version: 6.2.1
✓ I want to like this game.I enjoy the Witcher books, games, and show. I was excited to play this game and for a few days I really enjoyed it. The music and artwork are amazing. It’s a great way for me to enjoy the experience of the Witcher world without taking up hours of my time. It is obvious that a lot of time and effort went into the making of this game and I appreciate that. The issues I have are with the game play. This is not chess. You can strategize all day and still get obliterated because your opponent has better cards. Yes, you can buy those cards. Yes, they are in loot boxes. Yes, that’s how pay to win works. You still need half a brain to play the cards correctly but I was hoping for more than the same old cash grab that is becoming all you can play on anything now. I get it. It’s a business model that makes a lot of money but I was hoping for more from CD project red. I can live with that. What I can’t overlook is lag issues on a game with time limits. On the special game modes there is a faster pace which I like because standard mode can take up to 10 minutes or more to complete a game. I don’t that much time for a round of gwent because I mostly play when I catch a break at work. It is incredibly frustrating to have a card disappear as I’m trying to play it. It can cost you a 5 minute match in a matter of seconds. This has happened multiple times. I hope is resolved because as I said I really want to like this game..Version: 9.4.1
✓ No region lock and disconnect ends in lossThis game likes to pair you up with people that live on the other side of the globe, where the lag is traumatising. Most of the time you’d sit there to be inevitably disconnected and the game will 100% counts it as a loss. There is no way to guarantee region lock, and even though I live in NA, I have been paired with people from China for about 50% of the matches. Why do I think they’re from China? Well, here’s my theory. First, if not obvious enough, they have Chinese usernames. Second, because China censors and have their own system of internet, players have to use VPN in order to play this game. Why they would set their region to NA is beyond me, but I have a strong belief that this is the case. Depending on the time of day you play this game, the frequency that you’d encounter Chinese players would vary. If you work night shifts like me and play this game at odd hours, the number of Chinese players you’d encounter is abysmal. I have had 5 games back to back where the game just lags to a disconnect and the players usernames are indeed in Chinese letters. DO NOT mistake me for being racist or hateful of the Chinese, I love them and they are awesome. However, it is hard to enjoy a good game of Gwent with them when the game barely responds and gives you a loss because of network issues. Something has to be done..Version: 4.1.1
✓ Worse than I fearedGameplay is fun, and the detail on cards & battlefields is excellent... However... It quickly becomes pay to win, £30 quid per ‘pack’ which give you x number of chances to get random cards across all faction decks. As a result levels 1-5 are fun (they ask for a review at level 5, after giving you a free loot box, which is probably why so many reviews are positive. After 5 people who have paid have a huge advantage + syndicate deck is way OP, so you can’t really play any other faction if you want to win. I’d pay good money for a gwent game that gave everyone an equal chance that scaled with level and had an unlimited offline AI mode. Instead we get this hot trash. There are loading screens between all menu options, which is a minor gripe, but still very annoying. Pay to win means this is a no go, save your time. I expected more from CD Projekt Red, they should be ashamed of themselves going down the same route as EA and other megacorps..Version: 4.1.1

✓ Let down by lack of friend support in gameA fun game though I prefer the version in Witcher 3. One of the biggest issues with this game is the lack of a social menu in game to add and challenge friend in game. Nearly all other multiplayer games have social options in game. I don’t understand how this has been out for so lack and it’s missing such a fundamental aspect needed. You shouldn’t have to log onto a website to add friends separately and invites.Version: 10.1

✓ Simple game, f2p pricesThis game is simply about winning more rounds than your opponent. So you want to make them overcommit in the rounds they win, and you want to only commit just enough to the board to win your rounds. You have the unpredictability of what they have in hand... at least until everyone is just using meta decks, then the decks are utterly predictable. Card effects - like weather - that alter a row’s stats make the game slightly more interesting than it would otherwise be. But like most ccgs this game is full of bloat, cards that are similar/basically the same as many others. But you gotta collect em all right?! Especially for those beautiful £20 card pack price points. Not for me. Too expensive for how much fun I’d actually have playing a simple game. But for others, it may be a relatively cheap ccg - I mean mtg still makes tonnes of money and it’s the most ridiculously overpriced nonsense I’ve seen in games - so if you’re looking for ccg alternatives, sure, why not? Or maybe just look to games that are more rewarding and tactical than these oversimplified ccg cash grabs targeting naieve young people?.Version: 4.1.1

✓ Had to delete. Caused severe battery drain.The game seemed nice. Game rules are Different in some ways than in Witcher 3, but the reason I deleted was it sucked the life out of my iPad Pro battery even when running in the background. Recharge time from 26% to 81% was over 4 hours. While I was sleeping with the iPad unplugged, the case closed, and in airplane mode, the battery drained from 81% to 56% in 2 hours. ✓ This isn’t really GwentThis really isn’t Gwent, there’s no infantry, ranged and siege lanes its more like that stupid hearthstone which I hate. One of the main reasons I like Gwent is its super tactical on the pc version and also on the Witcher 3 in game. I think its really a big let down this version as it lacks the charm of what makes Gwent good. Was really looking forward to playing this with my friends and getting them into it but alas, I wont be recommending this to anyone. ✓ Game is fun but controls are unintuitiveI enjoy this game and have a few decks I can pilot pretty early. However, the touch controls leave much to be desired. Order abilities are sluggish and using a leaders command or orders with multiple charges has cost me multiple wins specifically on tablet. My main gripes are the following: 1. Using orders with multiple charges puts you in some kind of “command” mode where the game says “You did this once? How about you just do that again. I’ve over used abilities because of this and it’s happened more than once. 2. I frequently have the chained button reminding me to play something after I have played a card for my turn. 3. Card changes for cards I own aren’t noted. I only found out about some of the card changes after I have played them incorrectly. This problem is exacerbated on tablet because the card text is not displayed in a match to save screen space. You can view a card’s text by selecting them, but if I’ve played a card in my deck for at least 3-4 matches, I’ve already memorized what it does. Please tell me when they’re changed!.Version: 8.2
✓ Fun game ruined by connection issuesYou’re in the third round of an intense game of Gwent. You’re opponent is good, and it’s been a fun fight, but it’s looking like you’re going to win. Another CONNECTION LOST window pops up, but it’s happened so many times that you’ve gotten used to the disruption. This time, though, it doesn’t go away - and after a minute or two of spinning, it informs you that you’ve automatically forfeited the match because of connection issues. The above scenario has happened to me 5+ times in the last couple days. When you’re only playing 10-12 games in the same span, that’s way too much. Even without the game-ending failures, the CONNECTION LOST window often pops up several times during the same move, making it frustrating, laggy, and sometimes difficult to complete your turn before the timer runs out. This morning, two matches ended within the first 3 moves (I won one because my opponent had the same forfeit issue), and a third game got to the third round and then got stuck spinning (never even made it to the forfeit screen). I really like this game, but if the server / connection issues aren’t fixed then it’s basically unusable. I’m guessing from the reviews that this issue doesn’t affect everyone, but I’m also guessing that I’m not the only one affected - at least one opponent had the same issues. ✓ It’s Kind of Gwent?Firstly, huge fan of the Witcher series, huge fan of Gwent. Came in expecting a slightly expanded upon version of the main game’s mechanics and card choices. That… is? What this game is, but it’s not the Gwent from Witcher. I don’t know if they thought the version from the game was not robust enough to release as a standalone, or if they just wanted to create a new version of something old, but where this ended up is unsatisfactory and feels departed from the Gwent I know. Even to look past my personal quips on their game changes, the functionality of this on mobile is terrible. Using leader abilities is very fickle, the sliding of cards onto the field tends to slide up to the phone’s home screen, cards will lag out and then teleport onto the battlefield when you did not intend to place them. Not a fan of this, greatly disappointed. Was looking forward to a few rounds of cards..Version: 10.2

✓ Terrible match makingI’ve had to forfeit more games than I’ve played. You are matched against people with custom built, advanced decks whilst you are still using starter decks. I need 5 wins with a northern realms deck to complete my very first daily challenge and have tried over 40 times for 2 weeks. Nothing. Most games I forfeit only 2 cards in, I’m already outclassed. ✓ Needs balancing 🥺I thought the trick I found out with my skellige deck was pretty OP using Blueboy Lugos as a punching bag to damage the enemy. But CDPR, that was nothing compared to the absolute BS that some monster decks can whip up. Thrive and the death wish are so easily abused it makes the experience for the other player a joke. The monster deck doesn’t care what you’re up to they’re too busy cooking up a cocktail of broken cards and leaving very little enjoyment to be had. It’s not a battle of wits (like in the console) it’s a battle of who has the more broken card. Come on CDPR, give each player a more equal ground because at the moment there are some seriously broken tricks up some players sleeves..Version: 4.1.2

✓ Good game but plenty faultsThe game and visual aspects are fun. Problems I’m coming up with are either. My connection forcing me to lose a match or the opponents doing this. The other issue I have is the vast majority of players I come up against seem to have a lot of the best gold cards that I don’t have due to being a new player. When paying premium and buying other items I do expect some form of fair opposition ie similar cards/cost. Hopefully through time I will unlock many of the great cards to compete. ✓ New updateChrist, this update is so over powered, and rather than players playing through their faction they’re now almost entirely Witcher based, making it extremely difficult to win. I’ve won 0/8 of my last matches because these random cards become too hard to beat. I mean, I get cards from each faction are meant to feed off each other, but these cards are too good at feeding off each other and make the game less dynamic. Like where is the Graveyard? what are the differences in melee and range bands? how do I review my starter deck to know whether i should take the options on switching out cards? worst was the frequency of times when i pressed the "Pass" button for a turn only to have my next turn also passed - prohibiting me from playing a card and therefore losing the round. happened 3x in my first post-tutorial lesson "Monsters". That is a TERRIBLE design flaw. it's honestly hard to tell how long to hold the Pass button down - and if we are registering multiple passes blindly, for pete's sale, issue a warning..Version: 6.1

✓ Constant connection issueI really want to like this game. I’ve been playing hearthstone for 5 years and this game has fresh mechanics and beautiful artwork. I also love that the heroes each come with 5 game impacting special abilities to choose from, compared to hearthstones single hero power, keeping the game fresh. 3 rounds is also a unique mechanic that introduces another layer of strategy. I even poured $26 into packs. But in the end, I have had way too much lag and way too many connection issues. Many games, maybe half, are smooth like butter with no problems whatsoever. But the other half of the time , I’m stuck waiting to be able to make a move and often cannot even make a move and I’m forced to lose through no fault of my own. This is extremely frustrating and renders an otherwise awesome game basically unplayable. Please please fix this. I don’t understand how this game got 4.8 out of 5 with these major connectivity flaws. Hearthstone doesn’t have this problem. I wonder if there are intermittent issues happening only this week or this is just how it is always. Some of the reviews are complaining about it but not nearly enough for the extent of the problem so maybe it affects people differently or this is just a bad week. I’ve only had the game a week. ✓ Beautiful game, disconnects too often!I have been playing Hearthstone for the past 5 years and I wanted to try something different. I was excited to find out that Gwent had recently come out on iOS as I had always wanted to try it. My first impression was that Gwent is a beautiful game. The art especially the premium cards are awesome. The gameplay is also fair since each player only plays one card per turn. You really do have to conserve your resources to win the match and I love that aspect of the game. There is more strategy and wins are more satisfying compared to Hearthstone. Economy is also very generous and you can amass a decent collection just by winning your 6 rounds per day. Unfortunately, my game client disconnects (and I lose by default) on a daily basis. I am a patient person, but I am at my wits end and about to quit the game because some days the game is unplayable. This never happens with Hearthstone so it is a Gwent issue. Other smaller gripes: 1) Gwent devs don’t communicate well and players have no idea what is upcoming in the game, 2) Nerfs are brutal and cards can be changed completely without a scrap refund, 3) I should have gotten titles for winning 100 matches per season, but never received them. I don’t really care about titles, but don’t promise something that you can’t deliver. It just looks sloppy!.Version: 6.2.1

✓ Can’t even make an accountEither this game is absolute garbage or they shut it down. I can’t even make an account to play no matter what I try. I’ve even tried contacting the support chat and it’s just automated responses that don’t help at all. Don’t bother downloading it it’s a waste of space and time. If you can’t even get into the game after downloading it why is it still on the App Store? It was updated an hour ago so obviously it’s still running. Fix the game or take it off the App Store. I give up after another time I killed my strongest unit, because my finger instead enemy unit targeted my own unit. It should not be allowed. ✓ Expensive and grindyA nice idea for a game and with beautiful graphics. They are the good points. As a new player you have no way of getting good cards without spending extortionate amounts of money, but even then many cards are locked. Slow progress can be made by playing other players but as a beginner you stand no chance so a frustrating process. Matchmaking options are non existent and there is no progress through playing the built in ai. This is a dead game still taking money but would be good if there was a viable progression system.Version: 11.9
✓ In-app purchases ruin free playThe game is fantastic and brilliantly designed, but unless you have a large and disposable income to spend you can barely get anywhere. I cannot win a game now even after a few days and that’s because for better cards and rewards you need to spend (real) money. Those that have forked out can buy far superior cards, so that those like me - who just want to play for fun - haven’t a chance at winning! ✓ CRASHES ALL THE TIME!!!!I used to really love playing this game and I have been playing it since 2019. But here lately, (since last performed maintenance for iOS) the app has been crashing. It used to be very rare for me but now its like every few games. Which is frustrating bc I am missing out on rewards and exp points when this happens. Numerous times I have been in a really GOOD match then BAM… suddenly I am looking at my home screen. I have restarted my phone, reinstalled the app, deleted unused apps etc etc… and still having a major problem with crashing. I have sent email to support about the issue, but they have yet to get back or resolve the issue. So if the developers read these reviews, it would behoove them to fix this ASAP or they might start losing players as I am sure I am not the only who could be experiencing these frequent app crashes..Version: 10.5
✓ Great, when it actually worksGwent is a great game and fun to play. I’ve only had it for a few days but it now keeps throwing the “Unsupported version” error whenever I try to open it. I’ve already tried refreshing the app store for updates and restarting my phone, neither fixed the issue. I also can’t seem to report the technical problem to app because it refuses to let me report a quality issue. Please find a way fix this. A lot of players experience the problem, try the afore mentioned fixes, but they didn’t work for me..Version: 10.7
✓ Not The real GwentI really would rather they brought out Gwent like in the Witcher game with the proper graphics on the cards and the same way it is played in the Witcher game. For me this is not Gwent and they have recked the game. What happened to the third lane. What happened to only being able to put curtain cards in curtain Lanes. Plus the game is to easy and very disappointing. Should have made it just like in the game. I have been waiting so long to play Gwent on my phone to play outside the Witcher game, hopping it will be as good, This has been very disappointing and I will only play in Witcher game now. ✓ Price increased???I recently started playing Gwent, had some fun and invested almost 100aud to it in deck building. Today I realised that the prices were increased by another 10% after I initially started playing. I am not sure whether it’s a bug. It’s really tough to play ranks without a good deck and I am stick with an underdog faction, so hard luck. Otherwise, I enjoyed this game a lot..Version: 7.1.2
