✓ Money pit with no end game and back to back addsHaving spent a fair few hours playing this game, I rage quit with the realization that there was no end game and the deeper you get the more repetitive and pointless it becomes The saving grace is that the first couple of hours was fun.Version: 1.10.2
✓ Ads everywhereThis game is fun and does a good job of making one of my fav games i have ever played even better. I originally played “grow castle” which is the same as this. But this one is much smoother and cleaner, the subscription they have is decent and I dont mind it at all, as all good games need to make some money. My problem is with the ads, its very very VERY ad heavy. Its mostly optional, but the reward for watching the ad is just too good to pass.... and there lays the problem. Every action you make to get the in game currency “gold” always has a “watch ad” option to potentally earn 4 times the amount of gold you would have made. Which takes away from the fun, the gold you make from each wave seems like nothing when you choose to not watch the ads. The ads literally take the fun out of the game. They made it so that if you want to excel at this game... you’re almost forced to watch ads..Version: 1.11.3
✓ Path To Reward MissingI usually never write game reviews, but this game is simply amazing. I loved it since the start! However, a couple of days into the game the "Path to Rewards" button was missing, even though it was there the day before. As you can tell, this puts me at a severe disadvantage and overall kind of ruined the game experience for me. I'm missing out on so many good rewards it's honestly unfair. I even tried deleting the game and downloading it again, but it didn't work. PLEASE fix this, I LOVE this game, but the missing rewards is kind of disappointing. ✓ BummedBeen enjoying the game quite a bit so far but I’m f2p and was really disappointed in the nifty little way you let me upgrade my tower once with gold and then quickly switched to a pay by chrystals upgrade in the same exact spot immediately after I clicked once. I knew I needed to upgrade my tower a couple times because I hadn’t in several waves so I went to click pay by coins a couple times quickly and was pretty disappointed in that handy little switcharoo. It feels like you intentionally cheated me out of my hard earned crystals and I’m not really excited to play the game anymore like I was. That was a cheap shot. Game was fun, but things like that really aren’t. Edit: I do really appreciate the game creators reaching out to me about my problem with the upgrade mechanics. Regardless of whether or not your team fixes the issue, it meant something to hear from you. I don’t know that I’ll be playing the game anymore, but you at least deserve an updated review as it appears you care enough about your fan base to reach out to someone who had a poor experience. ✓ Decent game ruined by expensive pay-to-playStarting off likely the game then after building units and tower it became too expensive to progress. The different game play is also good, but same issue. Pay-to-play! Even joined a clan but noticed that less than half of the clan have been offline for weeks. There are different in app purchase models that the developers should consider or even just reduce by 75-66% may make people want to come back and play. After spending 4 days patiently upgrading units and collecting gold. Still can’t get past level and doing worse than before. Game is unfortunately designed to P2P and subscription model. To developers response: unfortunately to play basic game concepts you are still charging £9.99 per month to play. As a subscription this is more than most TV or streaming services. ✓ Was enjoying the game until the latest updateI do like the challenges that were added to map. It’s a nice feature to get more loot to craft and upgrade. The issues is that the challenges have taken away from actually playing the game. I am not sure why but on level 9 of the archer only the difficulty went through the roof. I have spent the last week saving and upgrading my archers. I was able to get to level 9 with a group of archers all under level 50. I can’t get past level 9 with archers all at level 65. I am over sitting and waiting to gain money to level up and still not get anywhere. Pretty much ruined the game altogether. I image the same thing will happen with the other 2 challenge levels. It was fun while it lasted but like so many other games a single update kills the fun of the game..Version: 1.6
✓ No warning when spending gems???Most games when spending premium currency they ask are you are you sure about buying the item. This game does the exact opposite instead they leave no warning whatsoever and when upgrading you tower the game replaces regular upgrade button with the premium currency one every 2-4 upgrades making you spend your gems on a useless upgrade. Lost about 80 gems doing this and I know many others have as well if you can give a refund or compensation for people who lost gems because of this it. I would greatly appreciate it and would probably give this game a higher star rating but until I’m going to drop this game. ✓ Good, difficulty is unevenThe game is good but the difficulty of different levels is disproportionate. I am at Wave 610 and haven’t been able to beat a caravan since I was at wave 300 (and it’s not even CLOSE, like the caravans are insanely hard and it’s unfair). Because of this I have been slowed down and lost progress. Now, even worse, wave 610 is, and I cannot emphasize this enough, IMPOSSIBLE TO BEAT. I have spent over an entire day trying to beat it. Nothing. Different combinations of units, all my units have been leveled up, I think I have leveled up my tower over 100 times. Turrets have been leveled up. The problem is, I can barely even make a dent in damaging the boss for this level. I can’t even get his health down by half. Ridiculous. I’m not happy, and I’ve paid the $10 to be PRO. ✓ Atrocious ad practicesI enjoy this game but i can say that the amount of adds that you have to watch is atrocious. To make it even worse the latest add for a condo building near me won’t let you out of the add until you actually fill in info ti be contacted by them for which I put fake info in twice and it immediately let me out of the add only not to record that I watched the stupid add but then when I go back in it repeatedly gives me the same ad. ✓ Honest reviewThe game starts of good, it gets you involved and keeps you playing. Unfortunately near level 350 it starts to slow down, above 350 is where it really starts to slow down and leaves me bored. The grind is kong and arduous and there isn’t much in terms of satisfaction for completing each wave any lore. The castles to attack start to have massive gaps between the levels which further slows down progress. ✓ Can’t play this game anymore, but thanks.This game was fun for me but got very dull after I hit a grind wall at level 50, I’m now level 95 and Geeze the grind just gets worse. The way to grind is by countless zombieing though losing on the main waves and watching the add for the extra gold bonus. That’s one star In conjunction with this, a game that allows you to play to progress instead of paying real money, is nice....the flip side is is you spend about 30 sec per ad some longer and very few short ones. That’s another star. The same music over and over is very stale, nothing feels like a boss battle or anything new. Another star The game is visually stunning I enjoy all the animations and effects. Overall I can’t play this game anymore due to the fact the way to progress is by losing every fight until you have enough gold in game to upgrade to actually beat the wave you are on. It’s pointless trying to fight a wave you just are are clearly not going to do even if you do everything by the book correct. In the end it comes down to why am I wasting time fighting a losing battle when I can just spam loses and get the same reward? ✓ Fun game but also buggyI’ve had this game for about a week and its really fun, however im getting this bug where my gold mines and my outpost things on the map aren’t producing anything when I go offline, for example I stopped playing at around 10pm last night and now (12pm next day) I only received 1.4k gold from my city’s mine, despite it being level 8 amd my storage level 9. I don’t always get this issue, but when I do its very annoying because I can’t progress in the game because instead of having the usual 1.5mil gold in my storage when I wake up, I only get 1-6k, which is nothing. You can’t exit a battle without the need to interact and opt out of and advertisement. And the rewards if you opt out are so small that it appears the game is designed around needing to view the ad to proceed without grinding. And I just encountered the crappy design of the gem upgrade button being in the same place as the gold button to upgrade troops. All my gems are suddenly gone. ✓ Glitchy, deceptive design, pay-to-winI really want to like this game. I played it for six months before giving up on it. First off, it’s really glitchy. It frequently gives connection errors that require quitting out of the app and reloading. A number of my clan mates hit a bug where their account is randomly set to a super high wave level, making it impossible to complete anything. One has his account reset by support, but lost all of his artifacts in the process. The game is also designed to trick you into spending gems. It will change the upgrade button from using gold to using gems. If you’re not paying super close attention, it’s really easy to accidentally spend a sizable number of scarce gems on a paltry couple of levels. Many of the really good units, such as the light archer, can only be purchased for $10 apiece. Once you realize that the game is so repetitive that you put everything on auto play, like me you’ll wonder why you’re still playing and quit..Version: 1.10.1

✓ Great if you like watching adsAs with all these freemium games you start out making good progress, accept the occasional ad but quite quickly as you move up the levels to make any semblance of progress you need to watch ads after every battle, every map or mine gold collection to get the x2 bonus just to afford to upgrade and progress. You probably spend 2/3 of your time watching ads to keep your tower and characters levelled up. ✓ Crash crash CRASHIf you have infinite amounts of time, and don’t mind the 20 seconds it takes to reload every 47seconds....then by all means, the game is cool...you JUST might manage to actually make it through two battles before it crashes, that’s when it’s working well. The watch video for double rewards USED to be pretty awesome, because it would just autogive it to you, and the vid never loaded (it also didn’t waste any time trying to load vid, just boom), this was the best part...now granted, I know that doesn’t work for them as they’ve got to grub that money from ads...and of the ads don’t load, they lose their scratch, but NOW - now that the ads actually load and you have to watch them to get dubs, the thing crashes 97% more, you are GUARANTEED to crash with this trash..Version: 1.5.2

✓ Obvious attempt to trick users to spend currencyA recent update has changed the UI so that when you’re upgrading things for gold the button that spends gold will change to be a button that spends diamonds (what they want people to spend real money to buy). And adjacent to that will be the gold button. Usually that isn’t the case. If you need to level something up a bunch you tap on the level button to spend gold a bunch and there is no problem. Now, suddenly you click to spend gold and then that same button on the screen spends diamonds with another button elsewhere to perform the same action. This is a disgusting attempt to burn through a player’s diamonds. Because what everyone wants is to use a button repeatedly that changes location on screen ..... Have been playing a while. Just deleted the game. I have no patience for game design like this. There are plenty of games made by people with morals..Version: 1.6

✓ Unethical UX DecisionsIt’s a common scenario in this game, and those like it, to upgrade stuff. You save up some currency, then you tap an upgrade button repeatedly to upgrade something, a lot. I was doing that very thing when the upgrade button switched to a new button - “+3 levels for 25 crystals”. So I was forced to spend the premium currency without any confirmation or any ability to undo. I think we can all agree that replacing the upgrade button (EXACT same location) with a button that tricks the user into spending premium currency, then not requiring a confirmation or providing an option to undo is very unethical. I contacted support days ago and I’ve received no response. Despite being a decent game, I don’t like to deal with unethical developers. You should know the type of developer you’re dealing with before you invest in this game..Version: 1.7.1

✓ Fun but supper buggyI played this game for 5 days I got up to lvl 66 and I was enjoying the rate of progression the game had. I joined a clan and I decided to try to do a battle with a clan member but nothing happened. This was when the problem started. When nothing happened I just decided to continue with the waves and right at the end my game froze. I closed the app and got back on and I was suddenly at wave 1358. I thought that the game would correct itself but it didn’t and I even did some battles but a good bit of the would freeze. I don’t really know what happened with that and honestly concerned that my account was hacked. I can’t think of any other explanation for why I suddenly jumped up in level and got basically unlimited gems. Before all this the game was smooth and fun I just wish I can get back to where I was..Version: 1.9.1

✓ Poor design and bad user experienceFirst of all the game isn’t too bad. Might get old soon but it is very enjoyable until then. There are quite a few bugs and glitches in this game but so does any game, so no problem there. The biggest problem that I have is the gem upgrade design flaw (or probably intentional)that tricks you into using gems instead of gold to upgrade. I have lost a lot of gems this way and their support team doesn’t care about their player base to either fix it the right way or compensate users unlike most successful games do. This is so frustrating. They said they fixed it and there are still scenarios where it happens. With this being the biggest problem they still cannot fix it and that makes me feel like they have a very poor design and QA team, which only means that this game is not going to last long and I wouldn’t spend any money on it anymore. ✓ Devs have ruined this game for me.I had to move my account from my work device to my personal, so I asked the devs to transfer my account. Easy right? This took them one month to do, and when they finally did, they stripped all of my module levels and all of my artifacts, took away all of my resources so I can’t craft any artifacts, took away all of my towers but the classic, and took away all the units I had spent gems on. They took away all my gold and left me with ten gems, so I can’t upgrade anything. In addition they didn’t transfer my fully upgraded training field, mine and storage. This game is unplayable for me. ✓ Devs don’t listenI’ve played this game since release, was in the top clan in the game, now lead one of the top clans that I started. I am one of the few that are the highest level waves (3000)...if you want to do well in this game and help out your clan, DO NOT spend money and stay a low level. It’s the only way that you can participate and win clan events and the new clan battles. I asked for months for them not to impossibly scale clan events to where high levels auto lose and devs said they were fixing it. That was two months ago. Now not only did it not get fixed but the newly released clan battles scale to where those of us at the highest levels lose to even level one nodes because they scale to impossible odds against us. So, if you do play this game, stay at low level, no need to spend money. Also, they banned an American clan for cheating within a couple days and a month ago we called out another clan for cheating even more obviously and devs said they were handling it. They did not and that clan is basically number one in the world. And it’s a Russian clan and this is a Russian developer. Probably their clan. ✓ Not the best or worstI like the game and the concept. However, to play without spending any real money, the game is VERY time consuming. It can take several hours of losing battles to get enough money for some of the upgrades so progression is too slow. This puts me off trying to get any further in the game. Also, regardless of your castle level, even if you’re higher than the opponent, they can still beat you by a long mile. The castle level should determine strength for the AI opponents so that they’re not stronger than you are. Otherwise fairly good..Version: 1.5.1
✓ It’s alright for what it is...Pay to win.The game is pretty decent at first and if you’re just going to download and play for a couple days you may not notice many of the problems. The biggest issue, in my opinion, it’s just that the Developers are terribly greedy, especially for a game that’s not even close to original. Most of the best units are $10 EACH and many of the nice features in the game are gated behind a $10/MONTH subscription. You can build pretty freely early game but are forced into one or two options of you want to make it to a decent level. The art is pretty basic but also still enjoyable. ✓ A game with huge potential that is ran by a group of disappoibtmentsThe underlying game is great, but seriously the design is to just deceive you into spending money. Gems, a rare currency in the game, is intentionally being scammed by unnecessary buttons that exists across the game without any sort of confirmation in the transaction, leaving you with a tedious grind to be able to afford any items that you want unless you are willing to spend in real life money, which is highly encouraged by the game through its constant “deals” rubbing into your face, and a user tier system base on the rare currency that you spend. Moreover, there are essential characters in the game which (is) vital to a player’s progression that can only be bought using irl money. If one is to be determined into making any progress in a realistic timeframe, be prepared to spend half your playtime viewing ads. However there is a bug which somewhat ruins the experience, we’re every other game I play I won’t be able to use any of my characters ability’s no matter how much I click. You might actually stare blindly at the ads longer than the super simple battles actually take. And don’t forget to shell out at least $20 for those fancy units! ✓ Good game but too much pay to winThe only way to progress is either wait for days while regularly checking the game to collect gold and save it to upgrade the gold collection rate and storage or pay for crystals. Watching ads doubles the gold you collect. But even that’s not enough. For example, my max gold storage is 7M (14M after ads), but next gold collection rate upgrade of 15% is 50M. You need the gold to upgrade units and modules that are around 300k per level right now. You need to upgrade the training camp every so often because it gatekeeps you from upgrading units further. Training takes a bunch of gold and time. Long story short. Around lvl 100, you end up playing the game in bursts of 10 mins so you can get as much gold as possible and do the easy missions. If that’s what you’re looking for, great. Or you buy a bunch of crystals. The pro subscription just gives you the ads rewards without having to watch the ads. You still want the crystals otherwise everything takes too long..Version: 1.6
✓ Great concept, ridiculously buggyLove the game play, although the clan element could be better. Rewards for clan events are pretty pathetic. Biggest issue though is the major bugs. In short, you can’t get very far without watching ads. And sometimes you can watch 10 or 20 ads and get sod all for it. Either the game crashes, or the ad ends and you don’t get the reward you should. Pretty poor really..Version: 2.1.2
✓ Fab game fizzles out after a whileThis game is brilliant. It is highly addictive and compelling. Game play is easy to learn and the art and graphics are impressive. So why not 5 stars? It claims to have a RPG element, but it does not. There is no story to progress of any kind. So it is fight after fight after fight which after a while gets a little repetitive. The battles are in nature basically the same. You can mine gold but you then need so much to upgrade certain elements it makes waiting a little boring. The game got me and I purchased a number of in-app bundles, spending about £20 over a couple of months. But I ended getting a little bored with the repetitive nature of the game. It needs a story element or something to aspire to and develop..Version: 1.10
✓ If Just Getting the look at thisReally like the game and art of it, but it has a lot of problems with it, whenever I go to the map 80 percent of the time I get kicked out of the game, and I just recently got a glitch were I can’t upgrade my towers, Also I know this is a really good way to make money but i just don’t really like that it’s semi-pay to win, overall very good game but the glitches is why I have it a 3/5. ✓ Scams you out of your crystalsGame rarely gives you crystals, but you can save them up. However when upgrading your tower or units it will randomly move the upgrade with gold button and put the buy with crystals button in its place causing you to accidentally spend 97 crystals on 3 tower levels which you takes like 2 weeks of playing to get when you can get 3 levels worth of gold in 20 minutes. I have a hard time believing this isn’t an intentional design. I didn’t even notice the first time it happened because there is no confirmation or notification that you’re spending crystals. I only notices because it asked me to buy more crystals because I was out even though I saved up over 100 of them after I lost probably 70 or more the last time this happened. I went back to check, and yes I am down to 8 crystals. Graphics are good and the game is pretty fun, however repetitive. Higher level unit upgrades take 12 hours to upgrade which seems excessive..Version: 1.6
✓ It needs some workPlayed for over a month - was subscribed to pro Honestly I can’t deny that I haven’t enjoyed the app. It’s been really fun working with my clan to keep pushing higher and higher up the leaderboard. For me and a lot of people the game is now dead. The lack of fresh content to keep us engaged is the leading reason for the decline on the game. By all means download this app, you’ll have fun for a week or two playing and upgrading your units. What I like most is you don’t actually have to spend any money on this to go far. I’ve seen people at 1500 without spending a penny, granted it’s taken them longer. My suggestion and what would make a massive difference and is a quick fix. Make triumphs achievable. We’re rank 1 in the world as a guild and can’t even pass the first reward??? It’s dead content if not even the rank 1 guild can complete it. This would give us incentive to log on every hour to take part in the event. For now I’m putting down the game until the new update hit in the near future. Maybe I’ll update my review following them changes. My final note, It you’re looking for a long term investment of your time, this game isn’t it.Version: 1.5.2

✓ Rigged to get moneyGreat gameplay despite all the glitches. Only problem is if you don’t spend money the game is rigged against you. The higher your level the more difficult the enemies are getting, more frustratingly in clan games. Even as a pro player (paid membership) it wants you to spend money on upgrades. If you don’t you will just be stuck losing indefinitely. Extremely frustrating when you get to around level 900. Many hours wasted....Version: 1.14
✓ The ad’s are becoming very intrusive.The game itself is pretty good - enjoy it for what it is. If you’re looking to become king of the world without watching ad’s or opening your wallet you will be disappointed. However, the ad’s are now sending you over to the AppStore without warning or permission. I can feel a game deletion coming on. Ads are throwing me out of the game to the AppStore. ✓ Good Game That Needs ImprovementsTo be honest, this game is good for time killing. But the time killing is achieved by endless ad watching. Which I am ok because I choose to not to pay to avoid ads. However, the mid-end game team line-up is owned by archers. Mages, summoners have no good performance since mid game(1500 waves approximately). So although it may take player months to gather all resources to lvl up most characters, experienced players have already lvled up all characters and proved that only archers rule. I wish if the game can re-design the balance so mages, summoners, throwers can do well as well. Unbalanced make me feel like going through the same path everything had gone through. ✓ Clan events rigged for lower levelsI've played this game for about a month and at first I loved it, was a very well designed game. However, as I've gotten higher in levels, I've realized that the clan events are totally rigged to make it way easier for lower level players to win. I'm no expert in game play design, however I'm pretty sure that there shouldn't be serious consequences for getting higher in levels. I really want to get higher in levels but I also still want to help out my clan. Just seems wrong to me that a clan with all lvl 50 players have a much easier time getting the highest rewards from clan events then a clan with all 1000+ lvl players. Where's the reward in that? For now I'm sad that I've hit this wall and will probably stop playing until this issue gets fixed, and I'll update this review. As an aside, I am impressed with how this game is so well designed in the aspect that it is very reasonable for f2p players and that they don't force ads on you (unless of course you want to watch them for rewards which I've done quite a bit actually). I do think $10 is a bit much to ask per month for being a pro player but I digress..Version: 1.8
✓ Ad-necessary but also buggyAfter the first several hours of playing, you need to watch the ads to get enough money to progress. However, the majority of ads are buggy and freeze the game, or just cause it to close down entirely. My iPad is fully updated so I don’t think it’s a problem with my hardware. It’s just terribly frustrating… almost forcing you to pay the extortionate monthly subscription fee to clear the ads. I almost subscribed until the bugs with the ads started appearing. That and the many spelling and grammatical errors throughout the game. Just doesn’t seem like I’ll be kept interested in it long enough to warrant paying the subscription. That being said, the first few days (depending how many hours you play per day) are incredibly good fun! It keeps you wanting to continue and is quite addicting! But it isn’t worth the frustration of those bugs when you watch the ads. If there weren’t any bugs, I’d happily play this game more..Version: 2.0.1

✓ Good game, bad micro transactionsThis is a solid game with good art but the micro transactions remove the fun from the game. To put the battle speed on a higher speed than 1x you need to pay 10£ a month. The normal game speed is way too slow and takes the fun right out of this game.
