Magellan Synthesizer 2 for Positive User Reviews

Great app, but....This appears to be a great new synth app except for the surprise the second time I used it. It starts with 366 presets, but eliminates 261 of them the next time you use it, so plan on the additional $6 IAP, especially when you have no idea which of the deleted presets are on which IAP. Please disregard the above as I opened the app again to find all of the presets were now working again. Obviously some user error here. I then purchased an IAP and received an additional 64 presets for a current total of 430 presets. Rating is now 5 stars. Good job, Yonac..Version: 1.0

Very nice synthAlthough it is quite complex and has a lot of controls the interface is nicely done and easy to understand. The Spawn function is great for coming up with unique sounds which you can further modify. A lot of these sounds it comes up with are really quite surprising and not something I would be able to program so it is great for a starting point. The overall sound can be thick and lush so great for pad and atmospherics but can do any all the usual analog synth stuff with the advantage of having dual filters and a FM modifier with its own envelope. I already have more synth apps than I need but happy with this purchase and am having fun exploring it..Version: 1.0

I adore Yonac apps- Game changersI will say sometimes I get bummed that Yonac releases sequels instead upgrading current apps (but the apps are never over priced and they NEVER pull the subscription model). They are smart and have been in the iOS game since early days. Their apps have always been easy enough for beginners, deep enough for power users, and truly make use of iOS real estate. Bluetooth audio works intermittent for me but not a deal breaker because most of the time I am hard wired but it works sometimes and sometimes it doesn’t. Still a killer app. 🤯😀🤯👍🏽.Version: 1.0

Wonderful remakeLovely remake of the original now with AU. The layout is top notch. Yes, the odd quirk but nothing you won’t get used to and for such a large amount of control area needed, the designers should be commended. It may be a remake, but it is well worth buying a second time imo. Have always loved the fact that you can turn down all the fx so easily. Would recommend everyone buys this, even if you have plenty of other subtractive synth apps..Version: 1.0

I stopped writing reviews but this is amazingI’ve had the first version since day one, I can’t believe so much time has passed, that said, the MPE implementation is better than Roli! Thank you for continued development of a great offering!.Version: 1.0

Love this synth!Absolutely love this synth. The sounds are amazing. Just a question, is there a way of transposing a sequence live? Or inputting an arpeggio that’s literately one note repeated with a couple of rests? (Eg, C, rest, C, C, C, rest, C, C).Version: 1.0

Solid sounds, tape machineYou'll like it. Things sound sophisticated, not what you expect from an app..Version: 1.0

Even BETTER than I anticipated!!I would give Magellan 2 five stars even if it were identical AUv3-supported version of original Magellan synth. I was sure it’s coming because, well how could it not have been, it’s Yonac’s best synth! So I was 100% sure they were working on converting it to AU but I must admit I did not anticipate *this*... I wrote a 5-star review for the original version too for it’s great sound quality and beautifully designed UI. What they’ve done here was, they went back to the drawing board and redesigned it to look great as an AU instance. Most synth look much better in standalone than AU version (inside AUM or Cubasis etc) so I usually design sounds in standalone and only do minor adjustments in AU mode. This one looks awesome. Large enough controls, smooth scrolling, just really pleasant to use in AU as well as standalone mode! The scrollable top navigation bar with ability to jump to specific sections is brilliant. (I actually suggested this in my review for TeraSynth some time ago, but I don’t want to brag ;) also a must-have synth btw. There’s really no adequate review on YouTube at the moment illustrating it’s true capabilities, it keeps surprising me!) The range of sound Magellan 2 covers is broad enough + amazing UI - so I would highly recommend this synth to anyone because really, who could ask for anything more? ;) Oh, and it’s pretty efficient as AU, which is a big thing on iPad, because the more things you can run simultaneously the more fun you’re going to have! Another great app from Yonac is Kauldron. Also pretty efficient, got good sound range, and excellent UI. I used it in several of my tracks. Now that Magellan got AUv3, I’m gonna use it a lot more often too!.Version: 1.0

NOICE!!! Love all Yonac Apps and this one is immediately a favorite... only thing is...It’s not showing up as AU v3 or inter-app or anything... also bluetooth headphones are disconnected as soon as I switch to Aum, Garage Band, or Cubasis... not sure if it’s a bug for everyone or a setting on my iPad glitching out... either way figured I’d share... Also, both preset packs available as in-app purchases are great. Really loving the sequencer-arp feature as well.... plan on exploring mpe preset pack as well. Thanks for all the great releases. Any chance we can get a throwback of Thereminator??? Loved that app.... not sure why you discontinued it but would love to see it again if possible. Thanks!!!.Version: 1.0

ExcellentBut my purchased sounds of horror 2 doesn’t show with the others purchased.Version: 1.1

The bestThe best Yonak synth, and arguably the best analog synth on iOS. Nice and warm analog sound which can be customized to taste thanks to a variety of osc/filter/envelope options. And this is what really sets this synth apart from the rest. Love this approach so if there’s a Magellan3 in the future with even more features and options I’ll keep buying. What i’d like to see in a Megellan3 is Filter FM and another even punchier envelope option. The synth uses so little resources so an oversampling setting would be nice to have too..Version: 1.2

Still Awesome and the most stable synth.Just came back to say that this is the most stable and most reliable synth in my vast Cubasis3 list, I have used it constantly since last October, the sounds are amazing, it has never crashed, never needs to be relaunched like most synth apps, I usually have 2 or 3 Magellan 2s running in the same project without any problems, a perfect must have for all serious users👍 the user manual is also very informative. I still say “Money Well Spent”. 24/10/20 I purchased Magellan 1 some years ago and have used it happily on my iPad 2 (processor permitting!) but it did not work with Cubasis 2 on my iPad 8, so I upgraded to Magellan 2, I’m so glad I did, the quality of the sounds are truly is awesome, all bank/program and control change parameters can be programmed in Cubasis 2, making it ideal for live use. Money really well spent IMO 👍.Version: 1.1

Love itAll around great monster of a synth..Version: 1.0

Deleted Magellan...after 10 years!!But Magellan 2 is replete with amazing improvements and expansions on the same classic features we’ve cherished all this time. The MPE integration is working very well with the Roli keyboard. It’s a testament to good design and programming when an app is kept alive that long, looking forward to the next 10 years with M2! Ps. Indeed I’m hard pressed to justify yet another synth looking at screenfuls of them, but this is too outstanding to pass up. Get it!.Version: 1.0

Broken when I bought it, its fixed now thanks. Some of the features of this app barely work since it crashes every time you use them. This app is very buggy, if you mess with the FX it immediately does this weird cracking noise and mutes your sound. You also hear a crackle sometimes while playing any of the existing presets. ^ All of that has been fixed and works as normal now..Version: 1.2

Ok , so what's V 2 gonna bring ?Whatever it is , it's brought it! Interface is simply beautiful, beautifully though out . After listening to JUST two patches the power of this synth is apparent..Version: 1.0

Yonac makes great appsHonestly, for the .99 deal buy all of their products. I owned this one, Mag.2 and ToneStack for full price, and I would suggest them for that price completely. A great company and great products..Version: 1.1

WhoaThis app is amazing. Great sounds and UI. Feels like i am using actual hardware..Version: 1.2

Bullseye! They’ve done it again. First rate synth, and some. Well done Yonac 😀.Version: 1.0

Great MPE Synth for iPad!I have quite a few Yonac synths. Started with Kauldron and most recently discovered the original Magellan. Such beautiful sound came from that old synth, but I wished it was auv3. And ever since getting a Linnstrument, I’ve been wishing for more great MPE-compatible synths. Well, this synth does not disappoint. Lush sounds. Excellent and diverse patches. This one is fun to play!.Version: 1.0

Just WOW!I would have never believed you could do better than the original Magellan. I was wrong. This, is, awesome!.Version: 1.0

BugWhy does the app load multi banks of the same bank? Like sounds of horror goes up to 138 from # 16..Version: 1.1

Back to the futureAs it says on the tin, a classic reborn. Synths have come and gone from my iPad, but Magellan has always remained. Because it passes the acid test of being capable of sounds like nothing else. Now, at last, it has been brought up to date, including AU3. All that is missing is a way to import/ transfer my previous purchases from the original Magellan. Nic.Version: 1.0

Excellent synth, sets a high standard. This is pretty solid, and well programmed, the sounds are great, it has pretty much everything covered. It seemed really, really good, then I realised the oscilloscope wasn’t just for show. AUV3, as well as standalone, Magellan 2 is possibly the best synthesiser in the app store, it just isn’t the most expensive! Managed several instances in a garageband song too..Version: 1.1

FinalllllySuch a flexible useable tweak able synth yeeeahhhh now Auv3 woooo.Version: 1.0

Needs to be updatedIt worked great in iOS 13 and a few versions of iOS 14 but in iOS 15 it not longer works fully as an AUv3. It crashes in Audiobus 3, BeatMaker 3, Keystage and Camelot Pro in iOS 15. I reported this to the developer through the support page on its website and on Facebook but have received no response. Some communication on this issue would be helpful. Edit: Yes, thanks so much for fixing the issue. It’s working great now!.Version: 1.2

Great SynthThere really is so much here for the price: lots of sounds, effects, a powerful ARP generator, a sequencer, and more. Recommended..Version: 1.2

My favorite since first versionI love this synth. It rarely has issues. The thing to do if you find any problem is to contact the developer by email. NOT HERE..Version: 1.2

Nice but..I had the first Magellan and bought all the expansions… but now I can’t download the expansions into the first app as it crashes when attempting. I’ve had this second installment since it was released and bought the expansions here… but now I’m wondering why my old purchases aren’t available as a restore in this one since they seem very similar to each other and since It will not let me restore them into the old version.. maybe this issue can be visited and hopefully a solution comes out of it.. holding my breath..Version: 1.1

FANTASTIC!!!Enough said..Version: 1.0

ValueAmazing features. Really great synth. Tones, adjustments, and intuitive controls. One of my favorite synths to open up an idea. Worth every penny!.Version: 1.2

A Pleasure to UseReally clicked last night how streamlined and fun this thing is to create with, and the sounds are great fun to explore. I won’t hold you hostage with one star, because that’s kinda messed up, but I do have a true request: Could you implement recording in from the keyboard to the sequencer? This would speed up the process of making sequences tremendously.. and less tedious on smaller screens. Thank you for a great synth..Version: 1.1

TAKE MY MONEYDon’t even hesitate on this app.Version: 1.0

Magellan 1&2Meg 2 works great no problems great selection presets, but Meg 1 when put my iPad on and I open it it played fine then put it off and put back on there is no sound, then I use garage band it plays fine I’ve contacted Yonac they sent me some help but I didn’t understand what they were asking me to do if there is anybody having the same problem, then write another review because I don’t want to give my email address.Version: 1.1

100% worth itThe test of a soft-synth, for me, is whether or not I can make it sound like my analog synths. I’m blessed to have some actual hardware synths, and soft-synths usually show their limitations pretty quickly in an A/B test. This app replicates my best go-to hardware synths so convincingly that I couldn’t consistently tell the difference between the two - and I pride myself on my discerning ear. I recreated all my default patches for every piece of hardware in my studio, and use them for songwriting on the iPad itself. That’s pretty amazing stuff. Now that Logic Pro is coming to iPad, I’m seriously rethinking having a hardware setup at all. Hats off!.Version: 1.2
