D&D Beyond for Negative User Reviews

Latest update made books unreadableThe most recent update has made it impossible to read any of the books I have purchased. Thankfully everything still works on the website but I would like to be able to use the app for convenience. I would have rated this app 5 stars before the most recent update..Version: 2.32

Well, I guess…Apparently the money they saved by firing all the staff didn’t go to improving the app..Version: 2.45

RmdmeksmHavent used much but when creating character the next and previous tab with scrolling with me when i scrolled down and it would block words..Version: 2.24

Excessive amounts of missing content even after purchasesOur group are about 3 sessions into the Pact of Phandelver campaign, and already numerous issues have come up making the app basically useless. Despite having purchased numerous downloads apart from the PoP, most of the content refuses to load into the app. On top of that, there are no available methods to add in these missing items, spells, and feats. The calculations in the app have my AC down by 3 points, I’m missing access to several spells and cantrips that are inherent to my class and race, and there are several magical items included in the campaigns and DnD books that don’t exist in the app. I hate the space and time that using paper, pencil, and physical manuals and cards takes up, but at least it makes it possible to play the game, unlike this app..Version: 2.45

Extremely FrustratingThis app is really good for beginners but once you get more experience it is really hard to make characters and host campaigns. You can only do so much unless you purchase a whole bunch of books and premium options. I also think it’s very unhelpful in trying to find basic information cause you have to purchase books to get that information. Also I had to change my email, I reached out to customer support and they didn’t reach back to me. I now have to remake my entire BBEG on a completely new account without any access to my old stuff. I had purchased so much and it is so frustrating that all that money went down the drain. My players and I all agree that it’s so limiting and hard to make actual characters we want. It is so much easier to just make it yourself without the help of D&D beyond. I’m really tired of fighting with it and wish that there was an easier way to do everything..Version: 2.7.1

Do not purchase until they improve the included documentsThe application advertises that it comes with the basic rules as part of the subscription. Like most players, I assumed that the basic rules would include the three primary source books, the Players Handbook, Monster Manual, and Dungeon Master’s Guide since most dungeon masters would already have them and they are essential to playing the game. I was frustrated and angry when, after spending many hours building a campaign in DnD Beyond, that I had to purchase an additional $90 worth of digital versions of books I already had in order to play the campaign I had already built. DnD Beyond has recently been purchased by Wizards of the Coast, and I hope that they will fix this. Until that time, however, I would say don’t buy this product unless you have an additional $90 to buy stuff you already have..Version: 2.10

Significantly less user friendlyThe D&D Beyond app used to be amazing. It was easy to use and customizable so I could have easy access to the information I needed quickly. Now, the app seems like it is more focused on selling you books, with a huge "BUY NOW" banner on the front page before you can navigate to anything else, than actually being useful. The pages bar is no longer customizable, and the first page is now totally redundant. It used to show you your purchased books and each other page showed the other content. Now it only has a small section for books and shows all of the same content you can get already access via the pages bar at the bottom of the screen (character sheets, campaigns, etc.). Please make the app more customizable so I can access the information I need, and give me the option to remove the purchase banner. It's already cluttering the actual website. I don't need it on the app too..Version: 2.45

Slow and not very user friendlyThe whole app is slow, the search function takes forever to find results. None of the navigation is intuitive and half of the Beyond functionality is unavailable in the app. It’s a poor offering for what should be a flagship app..Version: 2.33

Please get rid of the snowflakes!A little clunky with adding do and with magical items with use slots. But overall very helpful. I was hoping this last update would get rid of the snowflakes that really delays gameplay..Version: 2.6

DisappointingThis rating is based on the use of the app as a DM. For players it's a good 4 star rating. But as a tool for Dungeon Masters it is woefully lacking, particularly for those on an iPad like myself. As an app for DMs it makes buying the books in a digital format useless, other than as a reference source. You cannot create Campaigns, Adventures, Items, Spells, or anything. This makes this app far less useful than even free apps I have downloaded. It's a great source for players & creating characters, but that's it. I cannot be as generous as some others that mention these issues as well, typically giving it a high rating for some reason. As a DM tool this app isn't very useful though, so I have to give it a rating of 1. As much as I wish I didn't have to, but I have to be as honest as I can be in rating this..Version: 2.3.2

Digital dice are blurryThe app is nice and all, but when do you intend to fix the blurry digital dice? It looks like iOS and iPadOS have trouble scaling the WebGL canvas and as a result the digital dice becomes blurry and pixelated like a game from 2005. Am I the only one who finds this frustrating? A little hint for the developers: Try doubling the drawingbuffer size to match the size of the canvas. It would be greatly appreciated by the people who pay for dice skins if you could fix this. Thank you!.Version: 2.7

#opendnd#opendnd.Version: 2.24

Buggy and expensivePoorly designed app and the source books are overpriced copy paste text. Pay an extra $10-$15 and get the nicer physical copies with all the art work..Version: 2.29

IOSWill not load characters in the iOS version at all..Version: 2.24

Deleting the app because of the OGLI’ve brought hundreds of dollars of books and game materials for myself and my player I’ll be deleting my app after this and I will recommend my players do the same. What you are doing is wrong it’s greed and spite filled and If all Wizards cares about is money then I’ll use mine to say I’ll find another RPG system for myself and my players..Version: 2.24

A good app that could be greatThis app has many fantastic reasons to use it but needs way more quality of life improvements to be a great app that I would recommend over a paper character sheet. The ability to edit on the app and delete characters is something that is beyond required. I understand you can go to the site and make edits but if there’s an app for this why make someone visit the site. As well the fixed HP value still seems to roll still rather than give max HD + con mod. Maybe that’s on me for a misunderstanding on the terminology of “fixed” but I still have issues with it. Either way the app is fine but it’s not great, I’ll up the rating if we see better QoL features on future updates..Version: 1.3.0

Offline mode doesn’t work rightDND beyond is a good price of kit when it works, but what is really horrible is that they say the app has an offline mode, but it really doesn’t work well. When I play D&D, it’s in an area with low mobile reception, you would think offline mode would work, but all I get is constant loading loops on character sheet like the app has failed to cache the data. I’ve tried uninstalling, reinstalling, turning my device on and off, swiping down on the character sheet menu to see if it does anything in the background. Still nothing. The weirdest part of the app is that it has this “accept tracking” feature, I try turning it on, takes me to the settings but it doesn’t have any feature where I can switch that on (if it resolves the problem)..Version: 2.2

Good app, TERRIBLE COMPANYDnD beyond used to be a great company and app before I was bought up by WotC (and hasbro). Recently (jan 2023) the owners have been trying to dismantle and cripple the very community they created through an open gaming license. They are actively trying to destroy the creative foundation of fans to get a slightly bigger slice of the pie and I cannot support that in any meaningful way. I will be stopping using this app as soon as I can and looking at other gaming systems. SCREW WotC and Hasbro, you have done more than shoot yourself in the foot with this decision, this is a passionate fan base that will not accept what I’d being done to them, and they will leave in droves..Version: 2.24

Google login doesn’t workWhen I try to login with google it says that I need to turn on tracking and when I take me to settings the option for tracking is not there.Version: 2.40

Not sure if I like thisAs a Newbee this seems rather Jenkee again I’m a Newby, so maybe I’m wrong about this, but again I’m in newbee wouldn’t be logical for it to be relatively easily understandable not gonna lie you go to search something up and it says you don’t have it. You tried to buy the thing that you want to get and can’t find it. I don’t even know where to go to looking and as far as I can tell the app doesn’t even tell me and as for what I was looking for, I was looking for a “rabbit” race that can talk I guess.Version: 2.35

Usable, with some IssuesFor creating a character, especially if you’re new to DnD (like I was when I first used this), it’s great. It provides a step-by-step basis for it, and a lot of the PHB backgrounds, races, etc. are explained when you select them. One is that it can be quite slow to load your character sheet, for no discernible reason. Also, unless you’re willing to spend money on the online version of the books here (or you’re in a campaign where the DM has bought them), you will not have all the options for characters available, so it could be restrictive on what spells it allows you to use, etc. if you rely on it solely..Version: 2.40

D&D Offical App Terrible, Use a 3rd Party OneCan't delete old/unused characters. Better 3rd party apps out there with all the same game info (rules, spells, content, etc) that you don't have to pay for to access..Version: 2.1

DownsideBiggest down side to this app is you have to buy all the online books to be able to use the content which is really annoying when you already own the books.Version: 2.10.1

REQUIRES TRACKING TO SIGN INAny app the REQUIRES access to my iPad data simply to login is sketchy af. I’m sorry but why do you NEED my info to login to an account I have already made and used many times? I’m just trying to play dnd with my friends , not sign over the info to MY PERSONAL DEVICES DATA!.Version: 2.35

Jan 12 UpdateSince the update, I can’t access any of my characters on the app. Coupled with the OGL issues which remain on-going, this isn’t a good look for dndbeyond, WotC, or Hasbro. Get this fixed, because my table is already looking at other systems..Version: 2.24

Latest iPad update replaced the library with a “home” pageOkay, c’mon y’all—I’ve given you over a thousand dollars for digital content and currently pay for your most expensive subscription and yet now: - Every time I open the app the first page I see is 50% filled with ads. This just feels embarrassing. At least drop this for master tier. I’ve already demonstrated that I’m going to buy just about everything—stop nagging me! - There is no direct link to the library at the bottom anymore. The books I “own” feel buried by the navigation. - Information density is really bad: half of a page of the home screen is characters, yet it only displays three and each has only five items of information (name, level, class, race, campaign) **on half an iPad screen!** A quarter of a screen is dedicated to my campaigns and yet only fits two, and they only have four pieces of information each (name, role, created date, number of players). This was potentially a good idea marred by dozens of papercuts. DMs need easier access to stuff—having a place to organize relevant contextual groups of things would be incredible! But this new home page is not that. In practice it’s just an terrible waste of a screen. I’m all in favor of you all continuing to update the design of the app—but this is half-baked. I know you can do better!.Version: 2.45

Was a great app until…Love the app however multiple sessions have been slowed or ruined with the recent server crashes we had some trouble even getting pdfs for character sheets and then the server crashed on an encounter we were running and reset all my bad guys hitpoints. I don’t mind going to paper however this still was quite a nuisance..Version: 2.30

Wizards bad but good app🤌.Version: 2.45

Too many missing class features and spellsThe app is completely useless because I can’t even set the abilities of the character I already created (using the books I own) and have played with enough to reach level 4 with a feat. I downloaded the app to make it easier to keep track of all my spells and abilities. But the app won’t even give me the option to set my paladin’s sacred oath or the spells I had prepared at level 3! That means I can’t rely on the app when I play, completely defeating the purpose. The developers should at the very LEAST allow the building of characters according to all options in the Player’s Handbook. This is very disappointing. I suppose it would be helpful for beginners starting from scratch but that’s about it..Version: 2.33

Lacks a lot of website functionalityCannot create campaigns on app. It is convenient for character creation..Version: 2.41

Bad companyI love this game with all my heart, but I c an no longer support it with the new OGL announcement. I’ve deleted the app and my subscription to DnD beyond in retaliation for them trying to ruin the game and capitalize of the creativity of its players without paying them a cent. I’m switching to a new TTRPG system and I advise everyone here to do the same. WOTC don’t deserve your support..Version: 2.24

OGLShame.Version: 2.24

Anti - consumerWizards of the cost is abandoning their loyal audience for a monopolistic approach to the industry. Instead of providing a better service, they’re removing others ability to provide service and increasing the cost of their own brand..Version: 2.25

Bad business practicesApp is fine, company has bad business practices and fire people just before Christmas while ceos make millions a year..Version: 2.45

Bad PracticesOn principle I’m leaving a one star review until the leaked OGL is retracted and there is proof of a proper step forward put in place. The app is alright for character sheets..Version: 2.24

Update broke my dice rolls :((Most recent update broke my dice rolls on the app :((.Version: 2.11.1

Accessibility issuesThis app could be a really great resource for players with visual impairments reading the rules, but if they cannot use it then it becomes useless. You need to put the time into making it accessible with voice over, it really wouldn’t be that hard..Version: 2.0

Officially Burning BridgesThis Official D&D toolset is now part of the horrendous garbage fire that is Wizards at this moment. I’ve deleted this app because Wizards is intent on burning their company for their investors pocketbooks. If D&D and MTG die in a garbage fire I won’t be surprised, but I’m no longer giving my money to them in any form until they are either non existent, or become a sane company to get behind again. I hope they limp their way out of this and realize their mistakes. Until then try out FATE, try out GURPS, give Paizo the last bit of monetary support they can take before they are destroyed by Wizards. Look into TRPGs other than dungeons & dragons, because Wizards doesn’t want us here, they just want our money. Also tweet @Wizards and Cynthia Williams about any displeasure they’ve caused you via #OPENDND. Can’t wait to try out the other ttrpgs I have bought, because D&D is dying, and it’s their fault..Version: 2.24

Good gameMy game broke during every update you need to fix that apart from that everything is good:).Version: 2.13

Does not show all class informationSo I want to say I love this app as a DM. It is super useful for creating characters as most of my players are new. The character creation process is super simple and streamlined. My concern is that not all class features are easily identifiable. For example the infusions a player picked for their battle smith artificer is not shown in their character sheet. This requires them to go into edit just so they can see all the infusions listed out instead of it being readily available. In addition the steel guardian stats are not readily available in the character sheet. I have seen this with some other classes as well. It is more of an inconvenience but can waste a lot of time when I need to go looking for an item that is not included their character sheet. Otherwise this is a great app and I hope they continue to bring new features to it..Version: 2.11

Terrible, needs to change! So I have to re buy all the books I have to get this content on the app. I play a tabaxi and have to pay another £30 to be able to use this app. Awful! You should make a feature that scans barcodes to verify books. I have nearly all of them and would like to use this app but can’t. Please fix this..Version: 1.5.1

"D&D is undermonetized"... says company that charges hundreds of dollars for books and subscription fees. You could've made extra money selling figurines, dice, and other merch, but instead you went for the throat by trying to exploit the people who make this nerdy, awkward game enjoyable: the creators. My local group all just agreed to spend the next month trying out a competitor's product. Have fun turning D&D into a microtransaction-filled video game. Nobody is buying your "retraction" of the OGL 1.1. You've already killed the golden goose. I hope Critical Role walks out on you. And to be clear, I'm talking directly to you, WotC executives. Your creators and staff deserved better..Version: 2.25

OGL 1.1 is ruining the communityDeleted my app and will not re-download or make any purchases from wotc. All they care about is taking your money.Version: 2.24

Good, but wish there were more optionsI really with there were more options for layout changes. While I use DnDBeyond for all my D&D needs, one thing I don’t use is this app. Typically, I download my character sheet, open the PDF, and edit a few things, like the abilities box, to give myself cliffnotes on my character so I have the majority of my character visible on one page. I remove my Armor and Weapon proficiencies (keep Languages) and list my spell slots in that space. My second page is the more detailed information on abilities and feats. And then spell cards behind that. I want a DnDBeyond option in the app to view the character sheet and still be able to edit things, while also having easy tick-boxes to check off as you use an ability or spell, and be able to see as much condensed information on one page as a printable character sheet does..Version: 2.21

OGLWizards have become lazy and no longer care for their consumers; they are jealous of 3rd party content and want a slice of their profit with 0 work done by wizards. #opendnd #stopthesub.Version: 2.24

A massive problem. Now, this is a great tool for looking up information on the fly and a convenient way to keep track of your characters… but oh dear god is a certain glitch annoying. See, sometimes you’ll click on a book and be told you need to “free up space” on your device. When that happens, it’s like all of the formatting and background is gone, leaving behind plain black letters that don’t change to accommodate dark mode, images that don’t resize to fit a mobile phone’s screen, and absolutely no way to fix the issue beyond deleting and reinstalling the entire app with all the stuff you’ve downloaded. Can somebody please take a look at this?.Version: 2.40

Fine but limitedIts a grand way of checking a character sheet but it lacks alot of the dnd beyond functionality and i struggle to see why anyone would use this currently, instead of the website. The biggest gripe for me is its useless to DM’s and you cant click for details on any of the spells or items, which as a player makes it very annoying. As a replacement for a paper character sheet, its fine though..Version: 1.0.1

Great Start But...Hey Guys, I hesitate to give this 3 Stars because I’m so thankful to have it and believe with a few patches it’ll easily be a 5 star app in my opinion. The app, as it is right now, is polished in appearance and very user friendly. However I feel it misses the mark in how you can’t edit aspects of the character sheet or read spell/item descriptions unless you go to “View Character on Website”. This feels like an extra step and almost defeats the purpose of the app. As in, why not just pull up my character sheet on Safari instead? I’m confident this will not be the case it future patches but for now it’s kinda inconvenient and feels self defeating. Hate saying that because, once again, I’m thankful to have this and believe it has great potential. In due time I suppose!.Version: 1.0

Expensive and clunkyYou can buy a book for the same price. Why would I shell out that much to have it on an app? Plus modifying your character you have to log on to a website. Why not through the app? Isn’t that what this is for? Ultimately I will not shell out $40 for digital content that I pay as much for a physical copy of.Version: 2.0.1

A Solid StartThis app is very much a combat tracker at the moment. You can track HP, used spell slots (but no spell descriptions), rests, per-rest abilities, and conditions, but not much else. You can’t level up or un/equip weapons or armour, nor can you change your inventory, or view notes or character description. Also, no in-app dice roller. It does have an in-app browser that takes you to your character sheet so you can make adjustments there. Not, of course, the point of an app, but DDB has been a reliable, if slow, developer and I’m confident all these features will be added over the coming months. The iPad app uses the mobile (phone) layout instead of the desktop web layout. I guess this is understandable. The extra screen real estate makes it easier to use than on the phone but a dedicated iPad app would have been nice. (I doubt it’s worth the developer resources, however.) If you’re new to D&D Beyond you should go check out the website And start there. If you have an account, this will be a useful adjunct for those times you can’t get online. I look forward to it growing and expect this to become a 5-star app soon..Version: 1.0

Updated into obsolescenceWell marvellous. This update means because I’m not using OS 13 I can’t use the app anymore. Even though it says I can download an older compatible version I can see no way to do that. Back to using the website..Version: 2.0

I’m not sure if I’m incompetentFirst off I want to say I love everything that D&D Beyond is trying to do, and I understand that great things take time. I am a DM, and I love that I can have all the books in one convenient place (in this case, my iPad) but right now that is quite literally the only thing this app lets me have. I payed my friend the CAD $70 to share his content with me and my campaign, so it’s really great that we’re able to all get access to the books without having to all pay for it. However, the reason I am giving only one star, is because I’ve sat here for the last 3ish hours trying to figure out how to level a character up through the app, my own fake character that I decided to use to test the app out a bit. I also cannot access my campaigns through the app, unless I view my character online, and open it through your little pop up window, but even then I cannot go back to any page once I’ve moved on. I also cannot add an unassigned character to my campaigns without the pop up crashing and forcing me to go back through all of those steps. I am disappointed that after you merged the two apps, it really doesn’t feel like anything has changed for me as a DM. I am looking forward to you ironing out the glitches and making this a more DM/GM accessible app, and when that happens my review will no longer be 1 star. I really do love your system, and I hope to be able to utilize it more in the future. Thank you for your time if you’ve read this to completion <3.Version: 2.0

Clunky and awkwardHonestly, I want to like this a lot, but until it gets some QoL updates I’m giving it a miss. It feels awkward and annoying to navigate, slow to update things like character name changes, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to increase my AC or “equip” a weapon, as despite selecting a greatsword in the character builder, the sheet only tells me the stats for unarmed combat. It’s also slightly annoying I have to continuously go back to the website through the app to update anything. Not very impressed with the UI either. On a tablet I can see it working, but on a phone there just isn’t enough on screen at once. I’ll be sticking to paper sheets for the time being, but I’ll keep an eye on this app in case it improves..Version: 1.2.0

Was ok until latest updateIt logged me out and when I try to log in via Google it says I need to allow tracking. Why do I need tracking on to log in? Let me just type my details. There is also no tracking option in the setting so even if I did want to allow this I cannot.Version: 2.40

App is very convenient, but still lacks some much needed QoL improvementsI switched from pen and paper to the app, as I wanted to save paper and also have everything stored in one place. I can definitely say that the app has become far more convenient and easy to use than trying to remember everything on paper. You have your characters, stats, and all the knowledge needed in one place. However, the app also lacks some critical QoL things that definitely needs improvement, and I’m baffled as to why they haven’t added/fixed these things yet. The most annoying issue for me is the fact that you can’t create a proper custom item in the app. You only have the option to give your custom item a name and description, but can’t give it a coin or weight value. To do that, you have to go to the website version through the app, which is NOT optimised for phones, and makes it a huge pain to add custom items to your character. Additionally, even in the website version, if you create a custom item, you can only use decimal place values, such as 0.5, but if you add an official item and customise that then only then can you add those specific values, but then you’re stuck with the official item description. It’s such a huge pain and makes me want to go back to paper, but all the other conveniences of the app like automatic weight calculations and knowledge keep me around. Just let me add a fully customisable item in the app version, PLEASE!.Version: 2.38

Issues with appBeen trying to login the app with an already made account but for some reason app doesn’t allow me to log in through the “continue with Google” option, not sure why it doesn’t allow me and simply trying to request any help as to why this happens.Version: 2.35

Broken classes that they've no intention to fixDnD beyond and WOTC have a great product but they don't care a bit about it. Broken classes are a killer. Aberrant mind and clockwork sorcerer are broke as hell and they've got no intention to fix it. They even promote them on the website..Version: 2.26

Boycott Wizards of the coast until OGL is restoredThe new proposed changes to the OGL is an attack on the DND community and I will not buy any product they sell until the original OGL is restored. These changes will negatively impact dnd content creators as well as DM’s and players alike, by allowing wizards of the coast to use any published content and shut the original creator down. The dnd community will not stand for these changes..Version: 2.24

Slow, crashes, buggy - website only slightly betterGreat concept but the app frequently pauses or crashes, loading times are very long. You will find yourself uninstalling and reinstalling frequently. On the bright side visiting the DND Beyond app store page so often reminds you to leave an unkind review... The bug-du-jour is the 'Cannot load your characters' error message, which has displayed for more than an hour now. Luckily I had an old screenshot of my characters stats from two months ago, which is better than nothing..Version: 2.41

Why don’t you do the things you should do?This app is frustrating. You can’t edit your character... in the app. No, you must open what is basically the webpage, from within the app, which is so buggy I can’t even get it to open, I had to go to the actual webpage, which is its own train wreck. Can’t add gold, can’t add experience, can’t add items??!!!! Why though? This app basically, and I mean very basically, only lets you “view” your character, which while done competently enough, was not why I invested into this app. And by invested, I mean unless you want a feature-barren character build, your gonna have to go drop serious money on digital books that you probably already own physical copies of just to recreate your character in a backwards digital format. 😤 Would not recommend..Version: 1.3.0

Don’t getCool idea but you have no options for creating characters other than the starting Gide. I had already purchased the players handbook and dungeon masters handbook but if I wand to use something from said books I have to buy them a second time.Version: 2.32

Predatory practicesPlay a different system.Version: 2.24

Big changes are coming for your wallets! Not only am I vehemently against the move by Hasbro/WotC to choke the life out of 3rd party content creators who support their system, but if recent leaks are to be believed, the subscription service will change to $30 PER PLAYER, PER MONTH! I refuse to walk this path of nickel and diming from corporate suits, and will find new games systems to play. #OpenDnD.Version: 2.25

Needs DM ToolsIt’s fine for what it is, it’s a better book reader than the old app was, if lacking in the D&D style & feel because of it. However it’s not useful for running a game of D&D at all. How could they have forgotten to build something for access to my campaigns?!?.Version: 2.0

CrashesWill not allow me to create new characters or edit old ones as it keeps coming up with a crash or error screen..Version: 2.26.1

No longer useableLove d&d beyond but new combined app requires iOS 13 making all older devices most of my group had dedicated to gaming unable to use. We don’t want to roll dice just check rules and use character sheets and maybe combat tracker one day (I’m assuming the digital dice are the reason for incompatibility). Guess we will use the website through safari to access again also limits use of chrome extensions for beyond20, just overall disappointing..Version: 1.4.0

Dnd BeyoncéIt’s handy for quick reference but still clunky. Still won’t be deleting it any time soon.Version: 2.20

Better than it wasThe recent changes have made considerable improvement to the user experience. The best change since launch has been the addition of speed descriptions when they’re selected. Not having to reach for additional resources is my biggest “must” in a character sheet application. I would note that spell and item descriptions only come up when in the equipment or spells menu; you can’t view weapon or spell descriptions from the Actions page. I would like the ability to edit my Notes instead of just view them so I could add to them during the session. Toggled check-boxes for spells and equipment still have lag, and while it’s lessened since launch it’s still noticeable. My favorite thing about the browser was the character sheet portrait mode, I could use my tablet and have so much information on a single page. Unfortunately, until the app has a more comprehensive landscape arrangement I won’t be using it in sessions..Version: 1.3.0

Just getting into the hobby, then 4 starsI don’t want to buy a digital copy of books I already own so that I can use this app… I know you hear it a lot, but I just wanted to use this app as a bit of a character creator and maybe some of the other functions but all of the character creator stuff is locked behind buying the players handbook. It is a bit more frustrating that all of the classes and subclasses information can be found online already with very little effort for free anyway. I was actually going to buy the digital copy in the marketplace when I got an error, I would like to thank the server error for saving me some money. I am sure this is great for someone getting into the hobby, but for people who have all the physical supply already it is a tall ask. An idea could be to allow access for all of the feats, classes, sub-classes and whatnot to be available but to restrict the items or some other feature so people could still experiment with your character builder without immediately being hamstrung… at least put the player handbook stuff in there is it really that big a deal to hide the various cleric subclasses behind a paywall?.Version: 2.1

Terrible CompanyApp is fine but your racist member sharing Caucasian people for simply existing and the shut pulled either the License means I won’t be financially supporting WOTC anytime soon..Version: 2.26.1

Realy nice apps but…Translation of all book and interface i think in 2023 is the minimum you can offert to your subcriber. Out of that the apps are well done!.Version: 2.39

Somewhat unsatisfiedOk first of all, in terms of user interface this is basically just a web browser that only goes to DND beyond’s website. Editing a character is fairly difficult, requiring several steps to even add an item into the inventory. Near as I can tell it also just doesn’t translate character background abilities and features to the user interface. Add into that the fact that this is a feature that users have been begging for and expecting since DND Beyond’s release several years ago and what we get is a half finished effort with no note taking section or description section, and I’m very disappointed in this app. It’s saving grace is that DND beyond has the specific races and backgrounds that I wanted for my character builds, or I would most certainly be using a different app..Version: 1.2.0

Why do I need to buy books twiceI’ve recently started collecting the DND rule books for my group but I don’t have the money to buy the digital versions why isn’t there a way to scan in the real life books to get the digital versions..Version: 2.40

SettingsI can’t access or even see it in my settings and when I search it up on my settings it doesn’t show up Don’t know if I’m being dumb or if it’s genuinely a problem and can’t allow cache because of this.Version: 2.1

What A DisappointmentIt’s kind of baffling that they made the app so clunky to use. All the problems with the web version are carried over, plus a whole bunch more! There isn’t a better tool to use, but boy is this one still awful.Version: 1.3.0

Decent app butDnd beyond’s character creation usually means you have to buy the other books for upwards of 40 AUD which you might need for your character and it is very annoying, among other things, the company behind the app also isn’t the best (if you don’t know just look up the WotC OGL). I personally just don’t find it convenient with the characters I make from many source books and all of the homebrew..Version: 2.45

Rip offOh you have the physical books? Oh yeah you will have to buy them again at full price if you want to use any of the subclasses or any decent feats on your character, this app was never designed to be used in tandem with the books or homebrews.Version: 2.45

OGL should stayI love what D&D brings to the people who play but I cannot support a company that tries to control 3rd party content just to make more money. They are complacent and the game has been suffering due to it. The books that have come out thus far are lacking what made the game fun in the first place. Half of the modules given to you are basically telling you to make it up as you go along. With this being said, I will no longer support the company in any future developments/projects.Version: 2.24

Poor accessibility for the BlindThis app is incredibly clunky and difficult to use with VoiceOver on the iPhone. Some things are labelled, some things are accessible, but overall it is very poor quality. Some of the boxes and windows overlap one another, making it difficult to understand which screen you’re on, and general reaction times from moving around the app is incredibly sluggish. I cannot even create a character using this app..Version: 2.32

So sad to be leaving this review.I love D&D but I will be canceling my subscription until something is done about the OGL. Wizards of the Coast have shown again and again that they’re too greedy and outright lazy to change. They’re complacent and the game is suffering because of it. The quality of the books coming out has plummeted. Half the modules tell you to make stuff up yourself and books where shipped with blatantly racist imagery that somehow made it to print. Until the D&D team pick up the slack, I’m done..Version: 2.24

Fix the books pleaseThis is a good toll for anyone who is interested in D&D especially if you don’t have any books or prefer ebooks. BUT if you’re a veteran of the game have a bunch of the books or like hard copy’s better it’s got major flaws. The books, the books are my biggest problem with this app, if you have any of the books you have to end up re-buying them because you can’t get all of your resources because the app wants you to buy books again. there should be some way that I can scan the books that I already own so I don’t have to buy the books and spend even more of my hard-earned money. Plus I don’t like ebooks I prefer hard copies. Please I’m begging you to fix this! I make a limited amount of money (I’m a teacher) and can’t spend 30 to 50 dollars on a book 2 times! Please make a way for me to Scan the books already bought so I can have all of my resources to create characters. Other than that this is an amazing resource if you love D&D but struggle with character sheets..Version: 2.35

The app is functional, the company is notTo be clear, the app is solid and functional. I do not use it often, and do not have a subscription. I have been playing 3.5 for a good, long while, and I don’t expect that to change. However, without a subscription, I can also not clearly state to WotC how saddened I am by the company’s most recent approach to their business. So, it will go in a negative review of the app. A company has the right to do what it will with its property. I feel most of my fellow community members will gloss over this for the anger they feel. My issue is with the way the company (and its likely intent with the app, hence the complaint here) has taken steps to quash the beautiful community that it has benefitted from. I started playing during a time that playing D&D was still losing its taboo. 20 years later, and this hobby has become so mainstream as to be easily recognized around the world. That comes with a truly dedicated customer base and a wealth of 3rd Party providers and creatives. That it’s a business decision? Not surprising. Again, make hay while the sun shines, right? WotC has decided to burn the barn, the wagons, and the farmstead to make room for more hay. Please do not download this app. Not for its lack of functionality, but for the dysfunction of its parent company.Version: 2.25

LoginSomethings wrong with signing in. Ive logged in before on my old phone but for some reason its stopped letting me now. Ive clicked the continue with google but it tells me i have to change my settings to allow tracking however when i click change settings it sends me to the settings homepage and doesnt come up with the app for me. All my other games and apps are there but not this one. Can someone help me?.Version: 2.37

Please Bring it Back!!!Ok first I love this app, this website, and this hobby in general, but developers PLEASE HEAR MY CRY!!! In the old version of this app you could tap on empty space on any page to bring up a list of pages at the bottom of the screen and easily swipe through to the one you want. I would love for this to come back it was so convenient. Yes i know about the table of contents button at the too but it just isnt as easy to use. Secondly AND EVEN MORE ANNOYING. If you go to a page and it has a link to a different page (ex spell description, effect discription, or character details) and click the back button instead of going to the previous page you are instead taken back to the main library. ALL THE WAY BACK then even worse once you click on that same book again and instead of taking you to the table of contents you are taken back to the description page so you have to suffer the annoying process of searching through the table of contents drop down and finding where you were. To let the reader understand how strongly I feel about this just know that I came here with a love for dnd on my mind and initially had it set as five stars, half way through the review 4 stars, then finally at the current mark 3 stars..Version: 2.14

Annoying "feature"Please remove the feature where the dice rolls are removed after a few seconds. At least a toggle would be nice. It worked perfectly well before the change, I could look away, do math, look over my features and when I looked back the number would still be there. Tapping it to remove worked perfectly fine. Now I feel like there's a rush to read and memorize the number before it fades away. Otherwise, it's a really good app for beginners. No other complains except some class features don't show up anywhere and some don't work with the app, for example mage armor. I often have to add homebrew items as a fix for these missing features..Version: 2.34

Dungeons not accessiblePros: -Access to all my purchased books (really WotC should give out digital unlock codes with new books to avoid physical and virtual purchases but that’s not the apps fault) -Easy to use -Great search functionality Con: -In a recent update it utterly ruined the readability of the books. Looks like black Times New Roman on black background. There is 0 way to read the content. -Why do you want to keep tracking my location?? -You can add a setting for “Snow?” But not a way of organising the books you’ve purchased into Setting, Module or Extra content?.Version: 2.45
