ToneStack PRO Guitar Amps & FX for Positive User Reviews

Vintage amp blissFor me, this app nails several vintage amp sounds; particularly Supro, Fender and Vox. There are excellent stomp box effects, although the reverbs aren’t quite as satisfying. The UI is generally user friendly, although a few effects aren’t quite as intuitive to operate. Not sure this is the best app choice for hi gain, although you can still get some decent tones. I’ve tried other apps with rigs, IRs, tone captures and profiles, but I play ToneStack more than the others..Version: 1.1

Studio DreamI record all types of music styles on iOS. Bought so many apps. This is a gem. I got the basic version, thinking I’d stick with that but as soon as I got going, I bought the full kit. It’s, so intuitive, beautiful to work with and the sounds are pro. The acoustic simulators are particularly great. My guitar sample instruments just shine now. My mixes come to life and not just guitars!.Version: 1.0

A Cornucopia. ‘Stairway to Hades’ one says.Let’s start by saying this Dev has taken a look at the other ‘all-in-one’ offerings, and seems to have put an awful lot of effort and talent into surpassing those. No flannel, this is hard to criticise. After spending half a day manipulating and sliding processor boxes into a different order, slotting-in two delays in a row, and then realising there’s an entire bank of preset ‘arrays’ or line-ups of ready-made setups, it’s reminiscent of their Magellan 2 synth. This is not a bad thing. But there is absolutely no need to get too complicated. Just hit on the ‘Units’ heading and then tap your way into one of a dozen or so groupings of effect types (always gives me pause!), and you can grab from a quite broad spread of distortion boxes under one heading, then maybe a tremelo from another, a delay/echo from yet another…it just goes on, in a really good way. You slide right-to-left or vice versa, on the top ‘string’ of instruments, to change the order of the FX boxes. You double-tap in the lower section, where the bigger pics are, to see the icons close-up, very thoughtful for smaller devices. You double-tap on the small top row of icons, on a particular FX unit, to have that one slide into view, in the larger view below. It’s easier than I make it sound. Now, there’s one all-in-one FX app that despite being really good, did not have this right-to-left changing of the order of the FX, when it first came out. Yonac have put massive effort into this system, but also thought carefully about different device sizes and leveraged their prior efforts and versions to achieve that little bit above and beyond with this. I sound a bit enthusiastic, but I did not expect it to be this good, I mean I couldn’t count on it with the variable nature of apps being what they are. I should confess, I am looking over my iPad Pro 2 right now, at my Squier Strat, and yet I haven’t even got it plugged in yet - my entire experience is based on jamming around with some well-known synths in iOS and a 37-key keyboard (ok MIDI controller if you must). Surely, if you examine this top-to-bottom and wall-to-wall, you can find some less-good aspects? That’s a really pedantic thing to do though, and terribly negative, and best left to those without a soul. I pulled in a few different FX units from the ‘Units’ menu, tried a few of the preset, or pre-arranged strings of FX boxes, and stuff like that. I used my iPad Pro 2 12.9 inch, and stuck it through my (checking the name under the counter now) ‘Busker 15’ by QTX busker amp combo. The more I used it, the more enthusiastic I got, and just the preset called ‘Stairway to Hades’ made me go ‘Awww’ in appreciation. No, I can’t play it, even if you’d let me. Which you wouldn’t, obviously. Cannot see how someone would regret getting this, and I stumbled on it totally by chance. Anything else come to mind, I am trying to think…I kept forgetting to switch on the individual FX units. That’s my ‘top tip’! I managed to get 4 separate instrument tracks on my iPad Pro 2 to have an instance of ‘ToneStack Pro’, but mileage varies with how many FX units you drop-in of course. The iPad Pro 2 has allegedly 4Gb of RAM, so there might be a lot less capacity on other devices. However, that is not a ‘necessary’ thing to put too much weight on. M1 is coming. That’s what’s going to fix all that. Having an inferior set of FX hardly is desirable just to try and combat an intrinsic limitation, and maybe a lot of users/musicians/music-makers/dabblers only normally use 3 or four FX on a guitar for example anyway. You want good ones though, and these sounded to me pretty decent, I don’t think I’ve heard better on iOS, and there’s oddball stuff too like the ‘octave doubler’ thingy. I could go on and on…oh look, I have. Sorry..Version: 1.0

Absolute QualityI already own the original ToneStack, plus all expansion packs, and have been following the journey of the dev working hard to make a version that supports AUV3. I can understand people’s reservations about paying for everything again, when they’ve already bought the previous version of Tonestack, plus expansions, but when you consider the amount of work that’s had to go into making this new version, the cost is completely justified. It was an easy decision for me. I’ve used Tonestack live for years, and it’s never let me down. Rock solid. Versatile. Deep customisation. Sounds beautiful. Great support from the developer. What more can you ask for? Support great devs like Jesse, who consistently work hard to bring great quality, plus great customer service. Now, I’m off to play with the new version some more 😎.Version: 1.0

Sounds great!Fantastic audio plugin for guitar in garageband..Version: 1.0

Purchased for Loopy ProI purchased this to use in Loopy Pro, so far I like it..Version: 1.2

Good sounding, intuitive, great valueI bought this on sale for $7 CDN just because I wanted an octave effect, and it supports AU3. One of the best music app deals I’ve ever seen! - lot’s of classic tones right out of the box - very easy to use - I’m not that experienced with guitar effects, but was able to figure everything out without checking the documentation - in addition, has a 2 channel (expandable through IAP) mini-DAW, and a simple idea sketch pad recorder with looping, pitch, and tempo shifting Highly recommended..Version: 1.0

ExcellentVery low CPU usage in AUM and sounds amazing..Version: 1.0

Fantastic AppThis really is a great app - the sound is fantastic, it’s the most logically laid out of all the guitar fx/amp apps, there is flexible loop routing inside the app which is also significantly better than most of the others, and it works especially well inside Audiobus. If there were a button to more easily go into midi learn mode it would be a 100% perfect app..Version: 1.0

You’ll need the IAPThe original Tonestack comes with some modelings of specific gear that sound great and you can add to your rig a la carte. The default gear you get with Pro is more generic and doesn’t sound nearly as good. The good stuff is all in the Pot o’ Gold..Version: 1.0

Problem with Logic Pro for iPad resolvedHave now had response from Developers. Latest version now runs perfectly in Logic Pro for iPad. Return to 5 star rating..Version: 1.1

All that’s neededSuper impressed with the sound quality options. Having MIDI learn is my favourite. I’m not poor, but I don’t have the money to collect pedals/amps. This app afforded me that dream..Version: 1.1

**Read me**After purchasing every guitar sim app out there, I have to say that this is the very best sounding, and by far the best value. At this time there is NOTHING that comes close to this app, skip the others and get this one! Dev team: There is two things that would make this app absolutely perfect…. 1. An IR loader for the cab section 2. A special effect that would allow you to load in an auv3 plugin loader for the sound chain… Those two things would make this app a GAME CHANGER! It would be nice if… 1. When loading up an amp head it would also load up it’s matching cab. 2. Quick Midi assign instead of diving into the menu to activate 3. There were a list of what the amps and effects were modeled after. Marketing: I think you guys are leaving money on the table… Advertise the heck out of this app, it’s way too underplayed, give it to some high end guitar/bass players, get people excited about this via youtube, magazines.. whatever you can do, I hate that there are not many creating videos like the competition..Version: 1.0

AwesomenessCouldn’t be happier with my purchase. An absolute must for any guitarist playing on their ipad. Love that it has a built in tuner too. I’ve only scratched the surface but so far it sounds fantastic. Thank you Yonac for another great app. The dogs wotsits..Version: 1.0

A lot, in the potA blast from the past, now updated and with added AU3 appeal. The basic app is a steal at the into price, and the ‘Pot O’ Gold’ all in IAP is great value. Not just for guitars, either, this sounds good when applied creatively to other instruments. The app seems stable and works well under AUM and Auria Pro. No complaints, but would appreciate more presets and added preset variety for those of us who are not guitar virtuosos. RTM.Version: 1.0

Incredible App. 10 out of 10After trying out most of the similar apps, this is the best sounding one by far.I have been using ToneStack successfully for years and love all the features and ease of use to quickly dial up a great tone from super clean to filth.Just about every popular amp, speaker and effects sound is faithfully simulated here.A feature I love is the fact you can pan between two stereo effects lines. Also I use the Bluetooth midi switching system and foot pedal volume and pan to achieve my dream setup. Thanks ToneStack.Flash Sheedy.Version: 1.0

Awesome and stableI got the in-app purchase too and love the flexibility! It would be cool if roxsyn could be integrated into the chain, but AUM makes it easy enough to do..Version: 1.0
