✓ Premium userDetecting other languages other than English needs to get better and more flexibility to add captions into a video with no sound. I use this app for my business and have many customers from overseas, unfortunately most of the things they say in foreign languages is not being recognised by the app… mostly coming out wrong! ✓ Expensive and difficult to useThis app is extremely difficult to use, it would be a lot easier being able to move the words on a slider and easily manipulate them, yet if you try and trim it, it moves everything! ✓ You have to pay to even download videos don’t wast your timeI went through all the trouble of making a video and the UI was very annoying as you could not edit the time in the video the captions would appear and it would never get the timing right by itself. On top of that once you go to save the video it makes you subscribe to the app to save it. Most apps make you pay for extra bonus features that premium users would get not the whole function of the app being only for paid users as well as you not being able to exit out of the screen that wants you to subscribe you’d have to close the app and all your progress on the video you edited is now unsaved! Whoever thought of that idea wasn’t the sharpest. I wish it would say this before downloading. Don’t waste your time. If you fix these issues the app would be pretty good actually..Version: 6.5
✓ For me, it doesn’t workEDIT: I’m just... redoing my review now. This app does not work for me. I’ve SEEN that it works for others, but for me it didn’t. I’ve had clips where it didn’t pick up my voice at all (and there was NO OPTION to add captions to that clip manually), I’ve had times where it completely switches captions from one clip to another, and I’ve had a clip straight up corrupt and not play (the captions for that clip was still there, but no other remnant of it was. I couldn’t play it, and it simply flickered the first frame of my next clip.) I thought it wasn’t picking up some of my words because I talk fast, which is fine. But the fact that I can’t add captions, even statically to one clip, is beyond me. I can’t rectify this apps errors. I ended up not using the videos I made with this app because I had so many problems with it. If it picks up your words well, you likely will have no problem with this app. There were few inaccuracies in the words it DID pick up, it just didn’t pick up most of my words. Frustrated and hopeful that you guys can figure this out, because I love this app idea and just wish it worked for me. ✓ Has the potential to be a 5 starThe transcription, editing and teleprompter are really valuable tools, when the app decides to work. I keep getting an error message that’s happened quite a lot, and my internet connection is fine. The only way to get it to work again is to close the app. The problem? The app gives you no way to save the footage you’ve taken, so on close it needs to be re-recorded which is obviously a huge pain and waste of time. If this is fixed, or there becomes an option to save footage before uploading for captions, then I’m all for 5 stars. But charging £10 a month for an app that works half the time is steep….Version: 10.39

When I came to create my first video up my return, after filming and then tweaking my captions, the app asked for money in order for me to save my video! ✓ Not worth it, so many bugsI tried to edit my 1 minute video tutorial and the app crashed when I added text or an emoji or picture in the background. I had to redo the same video edit 3 times and all three times my video crashed and only the audio played but no video was showing, couldn’t even download the video due to it crashing. So many bugs are on this and and it’s ridiculous to charge that that amount every month when they app is not in the best condition. I understand every app has bugs and needs fixes but I went right over to the app “InShot” after and I was able to edit my video seamlessly on the “free” version and use another app to add captions and it only took me 5 minutes. Also, the way that AI automatically placed captions from the audio was very off. It took me hours to align the captions, I was practically doing Captions’ job better at manually aligning the captions. The AI music choice was not good at all took me many times to find a decent music choice. ✓ So Buggy - Complete Waste of MoneyI paid for a subscription and the app is so buggy that I was maybe able to use it three or four times. 100% not worth it when there are cheaper apps out there that do the same thing and don’t give error messages. I’m still really irritated about this app. And yes, I’ve kept it updated. I’ve shut it down when it wasn’t working and tried again. I have a current/updated phone. I shouldn’t have to go to great lengths for an app that charges $10/month. Waste of money. Find something cheaper. Veed Captions has worked really well for me. I use it multiple times a week. ✓ App is good but could do with a lot of improvingThis app is really good and if maintained right has a great future. However you always need to have the app open and keep the screen active in order for videos to process. This is really annoying. Then the app then every now and then fails to complete a task and I have to start the video from scratch again. The syncing of the subtitles with the audio is out of whack (tested on the ai translation dubbing). Needs improvement. When you use the AI trimming feature it further messes up the subtitles syncing. It only lets you do five minute videos which is incredibly frustrating, especially since this is a paid app with an expensive subscription fee. Also, there have been a lot of other bugs. Ideas for new features: AI Mouth movement syncing and dubbing for translated or manually edited script.Version: 10.74
✓ Dubbing not ready for prime timeDubbed a test file and the audio quality is horrendous… muffled sound, the voice starts as a female and turns in to a male, there are noises introduced that sound like digital goats (not joking) and there’s zero feel in the voice itself. ✓ Needs many improvementsI like that the captions are auto generated, and they’re about 80% accurate. But I hate that I can’t resize them or move them anywhere besides screen left. Sometimes the captions cover up graphics that I place on videos. The new scrolling feature gives more control over which segment of the video you’re on, so you don’t have to wait for the entire thing to play over, but every now and then while I’m editing a mistake, it will send me all the way to the start of the video so I have to scroll back to where I was. Really annoying. I’m editing some captions right now and the app placed the word “know” on there twice one with a period like so: “know know.” I only need one know and I don’t need a period, but everytime I delete one of them, the other has a period. When I delete the period, it shows up on the other know. When I delete both words, and hit done, THEY BOTH MAGICALLY APPEAR AGAIN. Extremely annoying..Version: 1.28

✓ Way too much going on.Honestly, subtitles are enough. I don’t need to re-align everything to make it not keep going every which way all over the screen having to edit each individual word to get it to stay there till the next word is said. Like… just no. This is why subtitle apps don’t do as well as they could. Keep it simple. I already spend enough time editing my videos. I don’t need to spend another 3 hours editing the subtitles to make them bearable to watch. That’s just insanity. More so, when I go through these reviews many people are saying the same thing. Yet you as a developer are choosing to size with those who say they’re using the app for translation purposes. Simplify, and a gaurantee you people would pay for the app. I’ve been a content creator for over 10 years. And just seeing the interface for this app is a complete nightmare. ✓ The captions are not in sync…I’m new to the app, after seeing it on tik tok, this app’s idea is great, and will save creators so much time but after adding in a video to try it out, it’s delayed so the text comes on the screen slower than when I’m speaking in the video. Sometimes the text is wrong but that’s not a huge problem, should be an easy fix, I’m just annoyed that the text is delayed even though this app would have been so useful. ✓ This is a good app but it does have one drawbackI’ve been using this app for a couple of days and it works great but it does have a few drawbacks which could make this app better. 1. These’s no way of setting an output file for your converted videos. I have to shuffle back and forth to see which videos I’ve edited and the ones I haven’t. 2. These no way to multi individual select clips to pass through the apps for a back to back edit. I make multiple clips for content creation and having this feature would save time and make it easy to edit the clips. I’ve attempted to select multiple clips in hoping to render those clips at the same time as separate videos but instead they’ve rendered all the clips together as on video, this kind of killed it for. ✓ ChangesI originally felt this app was a strong 4 stars out of 5 but I just went to edit something I’ve been working on for a while and noticed some changes. Basically the ability to see segments of text in that page sort of format has been done away with(?). It makes the playback laggy now. Scrolling through the words has a strong stick to them so that’s also clunky. It also feels like it messes with the timing of the audio as well. Overall, it’s a change that has impacted productivity and workflow. Before it was more satisfying. I’ve made mockups for the apps PixelCut, PicsArt, Eraser, Remini, PixelCut, Canva and Vont, for changes I thought would be beneficial. Every app fell behind except for PicsArt and InShot… the only two who made my mockups real features. And simply due to the positive feedback from those features, they actually pass my emails up the chain and make such changes. I don’t get paid from them. I simply love editing and they make that experience satisfying. I believe you guys are in your own lane, but have sharpened the technological tools when it comes to AI. Please.. revert back to the previous layout, or perhaps even make it an optional feature. Because I’m sure it may be beneficial for some and you guys likely put in a lot of effort to make such a small change. This app has loads of features that are fun and easy to use but you are capitalising your wonderful app and locking the extremely useful features behind a paywall. I understand that you should have to pay money to get a subscription to export videos, but all i’m saying is please make it cheaper, even making the lifetime subscription $44AUD and adding a lifetime option (like mentioned earlier). Also, the app arbitrarily stops recording me because it thinks I’ve stopped talking, which aggravates me to no end. And, the extraneous text and instructions on the screen are distracting and get in the way of me visualizing what it is I am trying to record. ✓ Used to be amazingI used to use this app daily to caption videos for my Snapchat story because me and a lot of my friends have auditory processing issues. It was great! Until they decided to make you pay. I wouldn’t have a problem if they had a pro option where you could make 3 minute videos, change the caption color, and save all the clips you record in the app. The issue is I can’t use it at all! I don’t need all the bells and whistles, just let me record up to a minute in plain white text. ✓ One videoI downloaded it and made a video was loving everything about it subscribed for a year after I was done with my video and trying to fix it for four hours because it when I added images and messed up my clips and I couldn’t get them back to how they were, and once I was able to fix it because it doesn’t save the original clips. It was still downloading no matter how I did it, the wrong way my clips were half black as if I had put a black image underneath it anyway if they can fix the editing issue I will give her another chance, but for now it’s a hard pass. ✓ Frequent updates with disruptive changesI’ve used this app for months for auto-captioning lyrics on music videos, which it has done with remarkable clarity and their AI algorithm has been the most accurate by far of anything I’ve tried. Accurately auto-captioning sung lyrics in the mix with music is an admittedly remarkable feat that they’ve done well for a while, only needing slight transcript adjustments. However, they’ve also done some massive interface changing updates during that time which has made the process of manually adjusting incorrectly detected words harder and harder, giving less and less flexibility in adding word sections and allowing for timing. With this latest update, all customizability of words and timings seems to be gone, and as a major bummer, the auto-detecting is picking up nothing, when previously it was doing mostly okay. It’s worked well for a while but unfortunately right now I’m spending $10 a month to manually enter captions with less flexibility than I have in my editing software. Can’t see myself keeping this much longer..Version: 10.40

All the ai features are great and really take the load off from doing it yourself. My issue is that it was marketed like it’s a free app. Now, I figured it had a premium version with all the added ai features, but that’s not even the case. The app is entirely subscription based. Which is fine, but it should be marketed as such. Don’t allow people to spend 30 mins to an hour playing around just to be told they need to pay to export. Since I upgraded my phone and redownloaded the app on a new one, I had a few issues that affect my user experience. First of all, there is now option to restore my subscription with iCloud. ✓ TerribleIt wouldn’t even follow a 20 second video. Words start way too early no matter what format. It begins great and later the words appear faster than they are said. Sometimes slower. Video keeps skipping parts and there is no way to add time to the breaks in between each sentence. It automatically does it but even that is not the right amount. ✓ Can’t trim long clips down to 1min?I am a paying subscriber for this app but there’s one thing that is really frustrating and I am considering cancelling my subscription because of it. You can’t trim longer clips down to one minute or 90 sec which is necessary for IG reels. Not there’s an easy way to edit videos. For a paid app, I would expect good basic editing facilities (clips rearranging, save your progress, not lose work you’ve done). I had to start over several times because there’s no precise way of trimming your clips or rearranging them. One month to go, if this doesn’t improve I am back to Instagram built in captions which don’t looks so well but they work..Version: 4.6
✓ Constantly freezes on exportThe app was great, but recently I have had every other video fail to export - freezing on the “save video” screen. I can recover the clips sometimes from the library but it moves the position of the captions and causes them to be cut of on the sides if I don’t manually reposition them, the clips in the library are also usually out of order too so I have to go searching for my clips - assuming they’re even there, half the time they don’t save and I have to re-record. I usually record short clips so it can be really time consuming to find the right ones, put it all back together and reposition the captions, and then half the time it will just freeze on export again anyway. It also causes my phone to overheat if I record for more than 10 minutes (I’m disabled, recording a 1 minute video takes a long time) which is usually when the glitch happens..Version: 1.43
✓ Poor Ui and logicThe apps caption generation capability is great but it’s organisation and the ability to produce videos quickly is so poor. For some reason when loading my events album, nothing is in chronological order meaning I have to search for the latest video. ✓ Don’t buy it for the captionsThe captions don’t work. The video will discuss doughnuts, and the captions will show what the video said five seconds ago. I spent 20 minutes, but I couldn’t figure out how to Match the voice with the captions. While using the app, it’s small and hard to use; it’s not very pleasurable and doesn’t work. ✓ Fun Captions, But…I love the captions style options. I’m personally a FOCUS loyalist. It’s pretty good at creating almost perfect captions that fit the dialogue. I wish we could caption videos that are longer than 3 minutes. Very annoying I have to trim it to work. I also wish that you had a desktop app. If I could run this exact app on my PC, it would be a game changer for me. Update: the reply to this said an update would fix these requests but they are still not available. ✓ Great app but glitches 😤I really love this app and has helped me create some great content with all the extra features it has only available on the full paid version. However it can be a pain in the backside when you have just spent a good half hour or so adjusting and making edits with content for it to freeze the screen start glitching and loose all what’s been done, this has happened on so many occasions to the point I just loose the will to use it to create any more, but then I tell myself I’ve paid for it already and it should be working as the developers say it should. There were some major problems with it, such as when you download the video the captions move to the left like an entire inch (which was relatively simple to combat, just put it in the super wrong place when in-app and check after you download to see if it’s in the right place). But now, they decided to make the app cost $8 A MONTH (which is an insane price for any app, but especially one that doesn’t work very well). I don’t know anyone who would pay that much for any app, especially one that’s sole purpose is to caption videos. ✓ Great App but..Overall, this is a very intuitive app and a great app for iPhone vertical videos, however, I don't know if it's possible to caption horizontal videos. I am also a paid user and it doesn't seem that I can caption videos that are longer than three minutes. Lastly I wasn't sure how to get the Mandarin language to work as a uploaded a video with a Chinese speaking person, but couldn't get the integrated language feature to work well for Chinese characters. ✓ Would have been a great app.Edited my video with ease. I took the time (roughly 30 minutes) to learn the ins and outs of the software. Got my video to where I wanted it. Went to export and was hit with a “you must pay” window if I wanted to export. If you’re going to require payment and not include a free, ad-based version of the app, tell us before we spend the time doing it.
