Shape: Healthy Eating Journal for Negative User Reviews

Some good benefitsI am becoming more mindful of what I choose to eat through daily activities. There doesn’t seem to be a way to see the cumulative affect of activities- how many meals in a week or month I tracked or how many times I tracked all 3 in a day, or how many days I didn’t track at all. Seeing a summary of activities to date seems like it would help me see an overall picture..Version: 1.46.2

NOT good for disordered eatingTo start, I love fabulous and that app was genuinely life changing for me, so I know the folks are capable of really wonderful content. This app, however, disappointed me literally from the moment I opened it. As someone who has had disordered eating, it was genuinely terrible to open it up and see food rules on the first screen, followed by “enter your weight loss goal, current weight, and goal weight.” That is literally a diet not a lifestyle change, in defiance of your base claim. I understand that many folks wish to engage in weight loss, and this is useful for them. But it’s the fact that it was not optional to see these food rules and enter weight in numbers that really troubled me, and there was no warning for folks with disordered eating. Please do better, or be honest and call it a diet and weight loss program..Version: 1.46.2

LangueIl faut absolument que cet application soit en français. Je ne peux pas tout comprendre et je manque plusieurs choses…..Version: 1.1.0

It’s not free. It is a $40/year subscription. It looks great, and the questions at the beginning are lovely. But don’t get your hopes up too much, because the “Premium Offer” is actually the entire content, and there is no standard version like Fabulous. It really would have been just fine if they outright said, “This is app costs $40 a year”. However the app itself is free, they don’t bring up its true cost until AFTER you’ve gotten all inspired by the demo at the beginning, and they dress it up as some sort of special offer. It’s a marketing technique, and a pretty disingenuous one at that..Version: 1.47.2

Great app- poor customer serviceI loved this app.. It was really helping me take first steps of getting into healthier eating habits. Unfortunately I tried to get back into it recently and the app shuts down every time I try to open it. I had just had a baby so I got off track and was so excited to use this positive themed app to get back on track. I messaged customer service for help as I was also frustrated that I had so much trouble just getting into the app with only a few months left of my subscription.. I didn’t receive a reply for a long time and when I finally got an email- it was written by a bot! It didn’t respond to the issue I was having at all. I replied to the email to say that and then never got a response! This app seems so thoughtful, I am floored that there doesn’t seem to be a human connection behind it..Version: 1.49.1

Can’t change mistakes or remember inputsThe app needs work. If you enter a food and realize it was a mistake, you can’t change it. Very annoying. Also there is no memory of a food entered so you have to enter everything from scratch. This make the tracking cumbersome and annoying. The psychological help is better..Version: 1.1.0

Incredibly hard to use and navigateI am a Fabulous user so downloaded Shape from my email subscription, and even started a one month free trial, but I couldn’t access it on the app since it forced me to make a new account and even after completing activities I couldn’t find a single place for Settings or My Account on the app. It is the first app I’ve ever used that didn’t have any of these features and my not being able to even activate the Premium program made me delete the app right away. I don’t need something like this if it’s so hard to actually use and manage my own profile for any updates..Version: 1.1.0

Needs ImprovementFor an app that’s about intuitive eating and supposedly scientifically based, I was shocked it was still so centered on weight loss. I want my goals to be setting healthy routines and having energy. Why does weight have to be one of them? There’s also no profile or settings tab? I can’t edit my goals or even log out. Not to mention the fact that you can’t edit the meals after you’ve submitted them. Cancelling my free trial..Version: 1.1.0

Bassic version?I like how it is all set up but Is there a free (basic) version? As I couldn’t find the X.Version: 1.1.0

PointlessI downloaded Shape and did the free trial because I loooove The Fabulous App and thought this could help with balancing my meals and restrictive eating habits, but I was wrong. 100% of the coaching I have listened to was focused on weight loss which is not my goal at all. With that being said, even if I was trying to lose weight, I don’t see how this app would help at all. The meal tracking feature is clunky, the weigh-ins encourage toxic mindsets, and there’s no concrete guidance on what a healthy meal would look like if you don’t already have a background in nutrition. Plus all of the coaching that is currently available on Shape is already available on The Fabulous App. Overall, this app just seems useless and oversimplified..Version: 1.1.0

Not sureSo I filled out the form, and I read the reviews because I thought there could be a free plan like in Fabulous but there isn't. Sadly, I don't have the money for these types of apps so I'm thankful for the free regular thing in Fabulous but I can't get the Shape app because of money problems. Hopefully one day they'll get a free membership but for now reading the reviews most people are saying you can't do a lot of stuff and it's only worth half the price as paying, or that's how I'm interpreting it. Still I love fabulous but not so sure about shape by the reviews....Version: 1.1.0

Should be part of fabulousI don’t feel this app has enough features to be worth $40 on its own when fabulous has so much more to offer for the same price. I was expecting a bundle maybe. Super cute idea love the animations but I don’t see enough in this app to justify that additional purchase..Version: 1.1.0

It’s a good start…I’ve been using The Fabulous for a little over 6 months now and I really love it. I was excited to see a food journal feature to go along with it. However, day one I am already a bit frustrated. I can’t find a way to edit a food log entry when I made a mistake. Also, I’m a bit surprised to see that the yearly subscription price is nearly the same as Fabulous which is much more full featured and Shape doesn’t seem to have nearly as much content or functionality. I’d be willing to pay maybe half what the subscription price is..Version: 1.1.0

Not what I was hoping forMy takeaway from all of the promotional material was an app that could finally serve the market need for mindful eating and intuitive eating. I was wrong. Right off the bat I was asked how much weight I was trying to lose and it only goes downhill and gets more generic from there. I’m not looking to lose weight. I’m not looking to gain weight. I’m looking for an app that will help me get more in tune with the needs of my body. I’m looking to love and embrace my body precisely as it is. Not hold it to some arbitrary number targets. I don’t need to lose weight. And I don’t need to gain weight. Maybe one day I’ll find a wellness app that understands these fundamentals..Version: 1.1.0

Food diary is very poorFood journal is really poor. If you make an error, you can’t amend or delete. If you try to add more detail about the meal, the save button stops working. This app is full of bugs so I won’t be paying for it after my trial..Version: 1.1.0

Good idea butIt doesn’t seem to be an app that costs $40 yearly (like the Fabulous app) because it lacks of so many things. I would like to add more that just one (1) snack. Bc I take one at the morning and one in the afternoon. I would like to add my coffee to register my consumption as well (rn I could only add juices or water). I would like to be able to edit my food if I made a mistake (for example mark snack like dinner). I would like to see some statistics… And above all I would LOVE if I could just pre-set some foods that I frequently eat so I don’t have to manually add them every time. I like it and I’m enjoy the app but I would pay half of what it cost right now. I expected the same quality that in the Fabulous app. Thank you so much!.Version: 1.46.3

Good but far too expensive for what it isVery basic- cannot go back and edit or see track of progress. It would be useful if included in fabulous but doesn’t really work on its own and cost is way to high..Version: 1.1.0

Do not use - ED warningDo not use this app if you have body image issues or are recovering from an eating disorder. One week into using and following their system they will require you to weigh yourself every day. There is no way to toggle this feature off, and no way to continue the program without marking it completed in the app. There was no discussion around healthy eating first, only a mindfulness concept starting to be explored. Not a great start, I didn’t get far enough into using it to have any further feedback, but was truly shocked at the lack of safety in mind for a food journal app claiming to be about health and well-being as opposed to counting calories..Version: 1.2.1

I like it but needs some improvements please:)I love that i’m held accountable and want to eat healthier to take pics and reflect but i am trying to gain healthy weight and it’s aimed at weight loss and if i make a note on what i’m eating and ingredients so i remember can make it again there’s a limited amount i can write and i’m not able to see the notes or edit the notes or pictures after submitting them. please fix these and then i’m happy to pay for the yearly subscription! :).Version: 1.2.1

Can’t start it without having to subscribe to the monthly planI can’t even start the app yet because I don’t want to do the subscription, but it doesn’t let me deny it. can someone help me out please, I really want to give this a proper review but I can’t because of this. I will redo this when I can get rid of the subscription ad.Version: 1.46.0

Free Trial Charged My CardI had a good experience with the Fabulous App and thought I would check out Shape. I was offered a free one week trial and assured my card would not be charged… but it was. I’m sure this was some kind of error but Apple tells me I’m ineligible for a refund. Am I mistaken?.Version: 1.47.1

No 20s age choiceJust trying the app and at the start the categories for age are Under 20 30s 40s 50+ So where is the age group if you are in your 20s ?.Version: 1.1.0

Great potential!!I was very excited about this app as i love fabulous and the format it is in. Off the bat i loved how similar shape is. I want to love this app so bad but quickly I found a few frustrating factors. 1. You can’t edit your daily log. I often found myself accidentally adding a meal as the wrong type or not finishing the entry before it would save. There is no way to edit or delete entry’s. 2. If you are looking for weight loss just know that this model is intuitive eating. There is no tracking of any real nutrients, calories or macros. (Which i am fine with but did not know before hand) 3. The price is high for what you get. The price for fabulous is definitely worth it seeing that the features it provides are quite extensive. Shape however does not have near the amount of features or functionalities and they are asking for the same price. The two apps are not as connected as they seem and require two different subscriptions. I wish the food log feature was simply added into the fabulous app even if they had to raise the price of fabulous. I think that would be way more valuable to more people. I really hope to try the app again later and see some updates and changes!.Version: 1.1.0

No free optionsI’m not mad because it wants me to pay, I expect that from the fabulous app, I’m mad that there is no free option available. You can’t access the app unless you pay something which is not like fabulous. Everybody knows that they get your hopes up in the beginning with personalized questions to make you feel important and like you’re about to change your life, that’s just marketing. I’m so okay with that if there a free version of the app which there isn’t and that’s why it deserve one star because you can’t even see what the app is about..Version: 1.49.1

Not freeMade me go through all that and I HAVE to do a free trial, you should make that more clear I thought it was like your other app very disappointing and a waste of time.Version: 1.1.0

Another Mandatory subscriptionAs much as I enjoy the fabulous app I am disappointed that my premium membership does not apply to this app. I took an in-depth assessment at the start and got all excited to see my resulting health plan but it won’t let me start using the app until I subscribe for a free trial. Hopefully the subscriptions become transferable in the future :).Version: 1.1.0

App Doesn't Work. Highway Robbery. This app feels like I got robbed. It just doesn't work. I was dedicated to MyFabulous and thought this would be a great addition, but when I immediately downloaded I learned the app was barely functional and the devs just didn't care about it. I had signed up in a weird way do it renewed the sub after trial period, I reached out within minutes of renewal to cancel. The people at this "self help" app literally did not respond even after contacting them in several ways, eventually after reaching support they told me there is no way they could offer a refund. My name on this app is "PLEASE CANCEL" and I can't even change that. So every time I open to see if they actually made it functional I'm reminded how I was essentially robbed by this company. I cancelled MyFabulous bc I had such horrible customer Service from this app. There are MANY competing health / diet apps on here that far exceed this one and for less cost. This app has not changed or been updated since last year and is very bare bones. It is not motivating and actually promotes disordered eating. It's just not worth it. Really disappointed with dev response, this company is a money grab and trust there is no one who cares about the consumer experience on the other end..Version: 1.47.2

No support for underweight individualsI love the concept and design of the app. Unfortunately the entire thing is based on loosing weight. I have been chronically underweight my whole life and would love a system like this that uses behavioral science to help me be fit and healthy. I had high hopes for this app but it seems there is nothing here for those of us who are underweight. (Also if you require a subscription to use the app please be clear about that up front it feels predatory to spring it after the survey).Version: 1.2.1

Not everyone is trying to lose weight! The bias towards weight loss is infuriating. Some of us have the opposite but often neglected problem of trying to gain weight yet you ask unskippable questions that will “shape” our app experience. Not a good feeling! A very bad feeling actually. Please fix this if you care about us..Version: 1.1.0

Start your journey elsewhereThe app says it features a $3.33 monthly rate but doesn't actually offer an option for it, instead charging yearly for the full $40. It constantly has a bubble for six missed notifications despite not pushing them or making it clear to the user what they're supposed to be in-app. Unsubscribing to the daily moderator posts is not as easily done as in Fabulous and still circumvents having them turned off regardless. The app doesn't have an in-app configuration menu for notifications either. As stated by other users, the app does not offer the ability to edit past entries, assessment of what you've entered, or anything else. I like the concept, but it's easily replaceable for an unpolished app that charges a subscription..Version: 1.1.0

Disappointing by stressing weightI was keen to try out this app and find more joy in fresh food and healthy systems. Unfortunately through the whole set up phase, no matter what I selected, I was forced to say what my weight loss goal was. I don’t want to focus on weight!! There was nothing which made me feel happy as I am and ready to embrace great food ideas..Version: 1.49.1
