Love this game!Great game for toddlers and I love the update... Keep them coming! If the developers do more games like this with other categories I will buy them! This is my 18 month old daughter's fave app... She wows people wherever we go when she plays it!.Version: 0

Good...butWould like to see a little variation in the animation of future versions. Ability to increase sound volume for 1st G touch would be helpful. Without these additions a slightly lower price would be appreciated..Version: 0

Mom of two toddler boysThis is an excellent app for letter and word recognition, my only suggestion would be able to choose word lengths. I have an autistic child and it takes a litlle longer to grasp the bigger words for him, but he loves this app when the words are 3 and 4 letters long, and it gives hima sense of accomplishment when acheiving them..Version: 0

Good but... fonts used are not easy for kids to copyOverall it is a nice application. Personally I do not like the voice of the reader but that is subjective. Otherwise, my daughter and son like it except that the fonts used for capital letters has serifs and she cannot recognize them (she wanted to try copying the words that she sees in the game to paper.) So, overall a good game but please change the capital fonts to sans-serif. If you wanted a plus, make a section where we can enter in our own word lists and a photo..Version: 0

3, almost 4 y/o, loves this gameMy son adores this game and it is really helping teach him his letters AND simple words. I just wish either the deluxe version was cheaper or that this had more words. This is a great starting app into the FW Applications an will let you know whether or not the $5 app will be worth the extra cost for your little one - which it will be for me once I have the extra $5 to spend! (I'm a struggling single mom...).Version: 4.1

BrilliantDownloaded for my 20 month old son, he thinks its brilliant, loves the pictures and sounds, teaching him not just the spellings but the noises of the animals too, very impressed!.Version: 4.5

Excellent drill for early reading skillsSimple to use. Pronunciation is very clear, and good volume. Whenever a letter is touched, its name is pronounced. When the word is correctly spelled, its spelling is recited; then the word is pronounced. Then the animal's sound is played back. Pronouncing the animal sounds after a successful spelling is a very strong motivator. Some of the animal sounds are clearly authentic. Some clearly are not. (The frog saying "ribbit, ribbit" comes to mind.) The fake sounds are a bit disappointing. The illustrations are very inviting (though not entirely realistic). Animation of the illustrations is not realistic. (After a successful spelling, the animal twirls and gets larger. None do more than that.) There are five options available to tailor the app's difficulty. (See screenshots.) The "Get More Words" selection just takes you to a screen describing the other apps in the series. The "Send Us Feedback" selection presents you with a communications form to fill out, which presumably you can use to get support, as well as just commenting on the app. This series of apps is the best I've seen in the App Store for early reading skills. (But admittedly, I haven't looked at all that many.).Version: 0

Fantastic App for Little Kids!I love love love this app and highly recommend it to parents. You will be thrilled with the way your kid interacts with this app. And yes, all of our kids are geniuses! Thank you Learning Touch for letting us think that..Version: 0

Great for letter learning and blendingReally nice simple reinforcement and learning of letter sounds. My kids could play it before they knew the letters, helping them become familiar with the sounds to letter, and then now they can read it’s great to help reinforce the letter sounds and how they blend to make words. Would be great if it has more than about 20 words, but it covers I think all the letters. Thanks!.Version: 8.1

Daughter loves this!Had purchased this game for my two children, especially my 4 year old daughter who has a speech and language delay. It has helped her greatly with her learning and she enjoys playing it every day! Thank you so much for this wonderful app and I highly recommend it to anyone who has a child in need of a little extra TLC with their education..Version: 4.6

Great for toddlersMy nephew is 22 months old and loves this app! It's great he's great at matching letters and identifying the animals..Version: 2.0.1

I love this app!!!This app is absolutly brilliant. My 22 month old son loves it! He will navigate though 10 pages of apps till he finds this one. The game is easy enough that he can play without getting too frustrated, but challanging enough to keep him engaged. I love the fact that you can choose whether or not to have the hints on. Only thing I would like to see would be some animation..Version: 0

Great appOur two kids love this game. Our 18 month old girl enjoys playing it, and is speaking more and more each day. Our 3.5yo son is now able to spell a few of the words on his own without assistance from the iPad or us. Very well done..Version: 0

Great tool for kidsThis application was well received by my young kids. Most interestingly, I felt it gave the youngest kids finger manipulation practice. Room for improvement - when the wrong letter is place in the box, it shouldn't just stay there, it should "bounce" back out or something. I like that the applications shows motion and provides sound as feedback when the puzzle is solved correctly. I would ask for MORE WORDS as my kids got through the entire collection in less than 15 minutes. Keep up the good work; looking for updated version..Version: 0

Young ToddlersMy daughter is only a year and a half, so this app definately keeps her entertained on drives, and helps her learn to spell. I think it could use some more words, but for right now this is great! The more she plays the quicker she learns to spell and say the words. She is so excited to put the letters in place, even if she is not familiar with the words. This app is perfect for young learners..Version: 0

EducationalI bought this App for our (then)15 month son. As he's grown older, he's able to understand the alphabets; recognizes most of the words & the App still captures him attention for a long time. The options of using capitalized alphabets, spelling it out slower are very very useful. I would highly recommend it..Version: 4.3

Love itMy kids love this program. Thanks to the reviewer who explained the delete & reload for v1.2. It won't let you pay again, even though when you go to reload you have to click on the cost, a screen will pop up saying you have already bought it and you can click yes to re-download..Version: 0

The perfect for my 3 year old!If at all you want to improve, you may consider to include other words too...not only animals. Or may give us window to feed in words along with picture...Version: 0

Lovely to playMy two year old loves this. Great fun and great to see the children learning..Version: 4.1

Great for very young kidsThis is an extremely likable app, my only complaint is that it is so easy. The only letters which are available are letters in the word and all a child needs to do is keep sliding the letter around until it locks into place. On the negative side it is not challenging but on the positive: very young kids (ages 3-4) will build confidence..Version: 0

Good qualityBoth my 15 month old and 39 month old love this game. Very simple, match letter to letter to spell the word. Both kids love the short animation when you finish the word. And I feel like it's teaching them instead of wasting time..Version: 4.4

My son loves itMy son just turned 2 and is very rambunctious. It is difficult to get him to sit for any length of time until I found this game. He will sit for 30 minutes straight just putting the letters in place. I started with about 6 sample games and this is the only one he likes. If u try a different game he goes back to the main screen finds this one presses play and begins. It is great I can actually get something done without worrying what he is getting into..Version: 0

My 2.5 year old loves this gameNeed some more words ! Both my kids love this game. Play at home, in car or on plane..Version: 0

GoodOverall well liked by my 4 yr old. SImple & engaging. I wished it blocked the letters that didn't go in place in order & that it said each letter & word out loud..Version: 0

Easy, intuitive user interfaceOur 23 month old daughter just started using her new iPod Touch tonight (an early present) and we showed her this game. Within minutes she was happily moving letters around to complete words!.Version: 0

Great Learning AppMy 18 month old daughter loves to play this application. It helped her learn her letters and spell. After a few times she played with this app, she recognized her letters much quicker. It's a simple application but a very effective learning tool. Money well spent for us! I have recommended this to my friends and their kid love it too..Version: 4.1

Amazing toddler appThis app is great! My 19 month old son has learned letters and animal sounds within 2 weeks of playing this app! He already uses it without the letter hints! Keep up the good work! I plan on adding more of your apps to our collection!.Version: 4.6

First words animalsMy 3 year old grandson loves it - you can change the sounds to phonics etc -great app.Version: 4.5

My 2 year old loves this appMy 2 year old daughter loves this app!.Version: 7.0

In my top list of toddler appsThis animal spelling game is really fun for my little boy, who turns 3 in a couple months. Once I showed him how to drag the letters to their spaces (instead of clicking on them over and over again to repeat E! E! E! H! E! E! E! E!), he immediately grasped the concept and has been playing ever since -- not like an action-packed game, but then again, it's not meant to be. I like this app's graphics and sound quality, and most of all that it presents spelling in a simple way that my little boy can easily participate in. It's helped him learn the letters he was having a tough time with, too..Version: 0

Plus for engaging small kidsMy 3 year old loves this. He has autism, and this app has caught his attention like nothing before. He can use one finger to point at the screen. This is real improvement. Went to the doctor for a blood draw. He played with this app the whole time and barely paid attention to the nurse. A real life saver..Version: 4.1

Great Educational App,.....for my 3 yr old daughter (soon to b 4) for when she wants to play on my phone. One request tho, no spinning please. Or make the characters do something different each time instead each character spinning each and every time. Great job on reducing app size. .Version: 0

Great Product, Great ServiceI have preschool twins, we have had this for several months. I ran into some problems with is--contacted the company and they were very prompt in fixing the issue (which actually turned out to be something that I had set incorrectly on my iTouch) I don't leave home withouth my iTouch, my kids love to play this game, and are spelling and learning their animals a full grade above their level..Version: 0

My 3 year old twins LOVE thisThis is a great first game for my boys. They already know their letters, so this is a great way to introduce them to words. The drag and drop of letters was easy for them to figure out, and we get the added bonus of taking turns (it's your brothers turn now) Great app for the toddlers in your life!.Version: 0

Almost perfectFun game that a small child can play by herself. My two-year-old loves it and can match up the letters by herself. She giggles every time an animal makes a noise. If I could make one change, I would have the game say the name of the letter as it is put in the right place to help teach letters..Version: 0

Simple & engagingGreat app for 18m onwards. Right level of difficulty and good illustration. For next version: can we have animals specific to a country? Eg koala. And can we 'localise' so hog = pig?.Version: 4.1

I use it with my 3yr oldShe loves it and the only oversight I provide is due to concern with her playing with my iPad..Version: 4.6

My one year old loves this app.He is learning words and having fun at the same time.Version: 7.0

Love it!I am so happy to find an app that my son enjoys and loves to play. My 8 year old son is developmentally delayed and autistic, and it is so hard to find activities that engage him. This app is perfect- he loves matching the letters and is learning to read/ spell at the same time..Version: 0

Great startGood interface... My 23 month old loves it. My only suggestion would be to add a reward every five or so words. Like a sticker or show those animals playing or something like that. Just to break up the cycle and give motivation. Otherwise, great app..Version: 4.0

Well-made, entertaining, educational! This is one of the best chuldren's apps I have seen. Way better than the popular Parents Magazine app (sorry, but it's true). A number of apps out there are awful, but this one is so well-made! The little animals are cute, and it's so intuitive that my 23-month-old uses it without ever needing any help from me. I love the way it says each letter as she drags it, and then it spells out the word when it's complete, and *then* says the word. (And the guy speaking doesn't sound like a robot, like in some of the other apps.) I'm very impressed, and my daughter loves to play this app!.Version: 0

Great App!!My 3 1/2 yr old daughter just loves this game and I adore it even more after the update! Only wish that the letters had to be put in correct order versus randomly putting any letters. Great app none the less. Only problem is trying to get my phone back from my daughter! LOL or I just tell her to play with daddys iPhone :D.Version: 0

After reinstall, it is again a 5 star app!Today after downloading and installing the 1.2 update the app fails to load and crashes back to the home screen. My son loved this app so I loved it. I'm so disapponted it doesn't work now. Please fix in a further update soon!! UPDATE-- Super quick response from Learning Touch on how to fix problem. I needed to delete and reinstall app. It now works perfectly again! I'm so relieved. My son loves this app an I know he's going to love FW: Vehicles!.Version: 0

Fabulous! This has really taught my little one her letters! We love this APP!!!.Version: 4.6

Love it!My 2 1/2 year old loves this game! I am a child development specialist and am very impressed with this game. A great way to introduce letters...love that it repeats the letter every time you touch it! I like that you can change the case of letters...younger children should learn uppercase first and then move onto lowercase. Very great game for toddlers!!!.Version: 0

Fantastic little game for my...... two-year-old nephew. He really enjoys the sights and sounds of the game (especially repeating the animal sounds). The magnetic-like slotting of the letters ensures that even a two-year-old can easily move the letters around. One suggestion, if I may. Would it be possible to also include voicework to pronounce the letters as sounds (alphabetic principle)? That way with little ones we can use that system and when they are more capable switch to the regular one. Thanks. Overall, a great game for you and a child..Version: 0

Awesome Pre-School Educational AppThis is by far one of the best pre-school educational apps in the app store. The developer is also very proactive in adding new options and upgrades. They just released FirstWords:Vehicles, so check it out as well!.Version: 0

Huge hit with 1.5yr old, educationalMy daughter aces this game and loves it. Dunno if she's really learning to spell or not but she has learned to say new animal names on her own with the game. Calms her down when she's upset too..Version: 0

A great ap!This ap helped my todler learn the alphabet. This ap is very muti-modal. Well worth the purchase..Version: 0

Great educational app. Lowercase would make it stellar. My now 4 to has used this for several months. It has helped her learn English in addition to letter recognition. Now moving into prereading a lowercase option would help with word recognition as words are actually seen. We have FW Vehicles and look forward to more. Great job..Version: 0

Wonderful Idea; could be so much greater!!Great little app!! Simple, colorful & easy to pick up, but from and educational standpoint it is missing a couple crucial ingredients. One is that every time a letter tile is touched the sound the letter make should be heard. The other is that when it is complete the word should be heard. Other helpful features could include hearing the letter name when the tile is placed correctly and restricting placement to be in order, meaning the "F" in FROG should be placed before the "R", before the "O", etc. Also, more, more animals please!! I hope the next update can include all that..Version: 0

Love this gameGreat game for my two year old who's obsessed with letters and reading, it allows her to learn and have fun, she loves the sounds and pictures, i like the phonics or letter name option it adds variety for her, and the option to remove letter hints is a nice progression, overall love the app, would like to see more for the money though!.Version: 4.1

Great learning gameI have a 3 year old son that likes games and loves when I read to him. This is a great game as it teaches not only how to spell the word, but also how to pronounce the word. The rotating picture of the animal with what sound it makes is a nice feature. I would like to see more words as well as sections and difficulty levels to train the child with more challenging words. Other than that, the game is well made and worth the $1.99..Version: 0

My son loves this app!!This app is one of the best out there for kids. There are several words to choose from to spell. If you tap on the letter in the word, the letter below will shake to help teach the kids. I highly recommend this for anyone with kids..Version: 0

Neat Spelling GameThis game is really neat. My three year old, who previously has shown no interest in any other spelling games or shows, took to it immediately. The graphics are colorful and eye catching, the sounds are fun, and it's easy to use. You can customize the game so that your child isn't given any words longer than x-number of letters, which makes it appropriate for a variety of ages, and you can turn of the letter hints to make it harder for advanced children. Definitely $2 well spent..Version: 0

Great ABCs app for young kidsI downloaded this app a few days ago, and my daughter hasn't stopped playing with it since. I've had my iPad for a few months now, but did not see as much learning potential on it as this app brought out. I am shocked at how quickly she is growing her character/letter recognition, and how much fun she is having with it. Up to this point we were using flashcards, and progress has been very slow to non-existent. She's good as singing the ABC song, but was not connecting the sounds to the visuals. I'm not here to say this is the next gen in learning tools, but I can honestly say we've seen progress with this specific app. Simple but focused and fun. I (we) highly recommend!.Version: 0

Great educational game for small children! My 20-month old daughter loves this game and to my amazement actually has learned how to drag the letters over to spell the words. She gets a big kick out of the images and sounds of the animals. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a simple, sweet and educational game for their little ones..Version: 0

AppreciatedHi my 2 yr old using this and the vehicle one regularly (when he gets hold of my iPhone) I think it's really useful for understanding letters and a great education tool - thank you I have one feature that for me would make this 5 stars hands down. Please can you add the ability for us to record each letter and word ourselves - this would be such a brilliant feature. Thanks again To add to this - another great feature would be if through the settings we could choose the spelling for each picture, I am from the UK and it would be really useful to change some of the words on this, and even more relevant, on the vehicle game as our names of things slightly change - e.g. 'Semi'.Version: 0

Great app!We love this app. This is the flash card of the modern world, if a parent really wants to teach their child how to read and spend time with them, this app and it's companions are for you! Great job Guys!!!.Version: 0

Great game!My 3yr old loves this game and it has excellent educational value..Version: 4.1

Excellent app for my 1 year old!My son is 16 months and this is his favorite app. It took some practice to first drag the letters, but within an hour he was blazing through the animals set and I purchased the other first words apps for him. He sits quietly and plays with these, clapping when he completes a word and saying each letter. Other apps do not hold his attention for more than 2 or 3 minutes. I couldn't be more pleased with this one!.Version: 4.6

Great App and Great ServiceDownloaded this App to entertain my three year old daughter on the two hour flight to Disney World. She loves it!!! However, after downloading the update, the App no longer worked. I emailed Learning Touch for help, and within 30-min I had a response that solved the problem. I would recommend this App to anyone with a young child..Version: 0

More features please! What a great app for distracting my 2 year old. And she learns too! My request, as with other reviewers, is for more features. Say the letter being moved and say the completed word. And when wrong let the user know. Great illustrations! I and my daughter are fans!.Version: 0

Excellent !Perfect for my grandson 2 1/2!.Version: 4.6

EnjoyedIt was fun using this app.Version: 4.1

Great app! A++++This is a wonderful app for kids! My 2yr old plays it and it keeps her entertained for a long time! good graphics, cute sounds, simple words - just an overall great app! anyone with a toddler should have this - well worth the $$.Version: 0

Loves itI bought the app for my daughter but she doesn't seem to be up to the spelling level yet. However, my sister, who also has special needs, loves the app. She will spend the longest time doing it and then my daughter loves watching her aunt play it..Version: 4.1

The BestMy daughter is 2 and loves this game! She has learned to master the game all by herself. She now turns on the iPhone by herself and finds the game. She can spend an hour straight playing this game. It is very educational and motivates her to learn new words and letters. Great Job!.Version: 0

My 2.5 year old absolutely loves this gameJulian loves this game, plays it every night before bed. He can now recognise he letters and put them in the right place. He's got all the animal names down pat too. Soon he'll be saying the letters too. Only wish there were more animals and other games covering other subjects..Version: 0

Excellent stuffMy two-year old loves this. We also really appreciate the improvements since the upgrade with the audio giving names of letters and reading out the word. I think it is rated a little high at 4+. Very young children can easily match the letters, and older children can turn off the letter hints and have the harder job of spelling a word from the component letters. The only slight niggle, and it is a tiny one, is that we had been teaching our son letters using phonics (i.e. reading by training beginners to associate letters with their sound values), which is how children learn to spell and this sounds out the actual names of the letters..Version: 0
