WebMD: Symptom Checker for Negative User Reviews

Good but could use additional infoI had to take 10 pills at one time and found it difficult to work with. Plus there are medications in Canada that are not on the list. I had to combine two apps to give me the desired outcome I needed while sick..Version: 6.5

Useless when it comes to look for medical services near you in austaliaCan't find pharmacy or any medical practice nearby. Not designed for australia. Other than that easy to use. Gives good insight on subject.Version: 3.3

Missing major symptoms. This is an awful resource when checking very basic symptoms. It was missing 3 of the 4 symptoms I was experiencing. I did try a variety of different searches. I’m deleting this..Version: 7.2

Almost rated it a 5 starI almost rated this app a 5 star but it has one flaw that just drives me crazy. That is when you allow it to send you notifications and you review them in the notification screen. Before you select one you have to decide which one is the most important because once you select one all the others just disappear even if you have a medication reminder. And if you select the medication reminder first then every thing else disappears..Version: 8.0

Not useful on medicines in ukAt least two prescribed medications I take - levothyroxine & sevredol aren’t listed in uk dosages under their generic name. Sevredol isn’t listed under this name at all. What’s the point in having an app like this available in your country if drugs available in said country aren’t listed!.Version: 7.1

Symptom checker ruinedI wanted to use the symptom checker and was surprised the app wasn’t downloaded. I downloaded it and then remembered why I deleted it. The new symptom checker is simply awful. It wants you to match your symptoms against an auto completing list. If you don’t describe your symptoms "correctly", you will see a completely different set of possible conditions. There’s no guidance and no inquiry whatsoever. Then it asks for medications and past conditions. Neither is very complete. Your final list of possible conditions is not weighted by how common the condition is, so you may find #1 to be something obscure..Version: 7.1

WHERE is your allergy tracker?I used your allergy tracker to keep track of my asthma triggers, because web md’s allergy tracker is better than the other ones I’ve seen at being reliable and tracking things the other ones don’t like mold and dust. Now y’all dropped it with NO alternatives and THEN forced us all to upgrade to the new app. Did they split off allergy tracker into another app like it was before they gobbled it up (and then got rid of the watch app as well?) Where IS this app? I guess screw us then. So much for trying to stay on top of our health, right when a whole segment of it goes away with very short notice and no alternatives. And of course the app STILL lists the allergy tracker in the app description footer from a long time ago, which is just a slap in the face. Please remedy this ASAP..Version: 11.8

Liked the old version betterI put in what symptoms I can but new version doesn’t have all my symptoms. I’ve seen my dentist so I know what the problem is now but webmd gave nothing close to what the issue was. I saw 2 doctors 3 dentists just for the last one to spot the issue..Version: 7.5

Is webmd's new allergy app legit??I downloaded your new allergy app thinking it would be an accurate tool for me, being a highly allergic person. Instead, what I get is an app that shows the SAME data day in and day out, with no changes indicated in each of the allergy categories, especially MOLD. Really???? Everyday registers the same data!! So how accurate is this!!! Even with cold weather the past few days, one would think the cold would kill some mold and allergy spores, i stead--what shows up is the same exact reading over and over again, no matter if it is warm out or cold! Glad I dont have to pay for this app!!!.Version: 10.6

Please make med reminders editableI mainly use this app for its medication reminder function. I'm good at remembering what I take but sometimes lose track of the time, so the alerts help me take my medication on time. I've found if you accidentally click "take" there is no way to edit that back to not yet taken, which is an unfortunate glitch..Version: 5.9

Not for special needs or complex/complete diagnosisIt’s a decent app and WebMD is definitely decent at providing basic insight on a fair amount of conditions however it cannot be used for complex diagnosis and absolutely should not be considered a substitute for a medical professional. I know there are some in the world that cannot afford healthcare so it becomes a necessity to rely on information provided from a source like this so I initially gave it 4 stars, just based on that. Otherwise it’s certainly missing conditions and symptoms which, for me, means for people who have non-verbal family members or loved ones it can almost be useless so I dropped it back to 3 stars. It would be helpful if the conditions and symptoms of special needs patients could be given more priority/attention than it’s currently receiving from WebMD. But that’s just me, be your own judge..Version: 11.2

Next to useless for UK folkAs a person who lives in the UK, this app just simply does not work. Half of my medications cannot be found on the database. I could be wrong, but I also struggled to find some of my actual conditions on the app, also. I can find them when I search for them on the front page, but certainly not during symptom checker, when prompted to list previous or current conditions. This is quite an important factor, as fellow people with PGAS will understand. I shall sadly be removing this app from my phone, as it is of little use to me..Version: 8.0.1

Improvement- doesn't cover other countriesYes an improvement but no use if outside of USA. plus unable to search for a doctor, makes you put in a their name, what happens if you are on holidays and know no doctors or hospital in the area. Can it search ? Don't think so..Version: 3.4

Get some local canadian content!!!!!!What's the point if you can't look up local listings in Canada.Version: 0

Need to bring back the location based symptom toolI used to love symptom checker when it had the picture of a generic body and you could just point to whatever part of the body is bothering you. Now it’s all text based where you pretty much need to know what you have before you enter in the information. Pretty backwards to me as I don’t know what a lot of the names are for certain symptoms or conditions. I just know I have a pain in a certain part of my body and I want to app to give me options from there that help describe my class condition..Version: 8.2

Poor backup abilities and Apple Watch integrationI used to think this app was really, until I got an Apple Watch and found that 'taking' medication via the app doesn't always update on the main app so you have to do it twice. But also found another issue whereby the syncing of data to enable a restore/removal of the app and reinstallation, causes you to lose all your history and medication set up!.Version: 5.9.4

Am I missing something? This has to be the silliest app I have ever downloaded. It does nothing, literally nothing! I change settings and just go round in circles. I just cannot work out how to use it..Version: 4.2

MixedAmericanised. Service provider listings don't work in Australia. Information in some sections is very limited but in others is good..Version: 0

Painfully slowSince the last update over a week ago the app has become painfully slow, taking a full ten minutes at least, to check off a few pills as taken. The screen freezes constantly every time you touch it then you have to wait forever for it to move just a centimeter when sliding left in the pill reminder section or anywhere you tap in the app. A constant spinning icon in the middle of the screen with every tap. And now it has started to heat up my phone when I try to marked all pills as taken at one time because it’s so painful to visit the app several times a day. Time to ditch this app and find another pill tracker. I emailed support over a week ago and they’re aware of the issue because they responded, but nothing has been done. It worked fine until the last update. Now it’s useless to me. Very slowwwww and buggy. Time to find a new one. 👎.Version: 8.8

Nothing but ads now! Used to be good.Used to be the best app, it was my go to for all my health questions. Can’t stand it anymore nothing but ads everywhere on every page. I uninstalled it and would never recommend it..Version: 10.8

Hate the new symptom checker 😏I used this app all the time in the past, however I haven’t had the need to use it lately until this week and wow! The fact that they don’t have the body there anymore for you to point out where the pain is at on the body is frustrating. It ask questions by using the names of the body parts and I’m sorry I’m not a doctor so I don’t know the names of every single body part. So is that much harder to describe what kind of pain you’re having. That’s my only complaint everything else is good..Version: 7.2

It WAS greatIt was really good until they updated the symptom checker, now it’s hard to find the extract symptom you’re looking for on the correct part on the body. It’s especially hard because you have to search symptoms instead of looking threw them as sometimes you didn’t realize something was a symptom until you see it in writing. Sometimes they don’t even have the symptom. The past condition search doesn’t have very many actual condition. 100% would not recommend.Version: 9.2

UpdateI am not a huge fan of the new update. I miss having the body option so I could just click on what hurts. I don’t know what my symptoms are called, that’s why I came to WebMD in the first place. I find this to be an ineffective update for the average person, your target audience..Version: 7.0.1

New updateHate the new update for adding symptoms.Version: 7.0.1

Selling Your Health Details + Ad RetargetingThese people have chosen to sell the health information you enter into the app, to a very long list of businesses. They could have chosen a less sinister finance model, but they’re happy claiming ownership of your most personal information and selling it..Version: 8.7

Sign in Problems and Deleted InfoI am really upset that for no reason the WebMd iphone app signed me out and would not accept my password. So I had my password reset and verified online using my Safari browser on my MacBook that everything was ok. I am still signed in with the new password on my MacBook but cannot sign into the WebMd app. Not only that but it appears I have no saved articles on the web site, and I had lots of saved articles. I hope those are not gone when the app decides to start working. Please fix this as I depend on the app for medication reminders and also for medical information, probably pointless now since it looks like all my saved content is gone..Version: 8.9.1

Needs kg option and cm optionGood app but needs an option to switch from lbs to kg and so on..Version: 5.0

Medical terms/medications missingDuring 'intake' where you are laying out your symptoms WebMD also (wisely) asks for background info. Two items requested are medications taken and medical conditions known. These entries are a joke because so many legitimate answers are not available to choose from. These are very ubiquitous medications (such as Synthroid generally for hypo-thyroidism) and well-known conditions (e.g. Multiple Sclerosis - not under MS either). Only 3/13 of my medications are on the list to choose from even though only one is too new to be in the most current edition of the PDR (Physicians' Desk Reference; a list of drugs and info about them); all WebMD has to do is purchase rights to use the PDF as the source of their drug list. As for medical conditions if you simply offer a write-in option then assign someone to edit them all adding the legitimate ones to the official list you would solve that problem too. As it stands this app is useless..Version: 7.0.2

Not happy with the porn adsI understand you use ads to generate income, but I wasn't happy to click for more info on a topic, and be sent to a porn page. I had to force close the app as there was no other way to go back!.Version: 4.2

Useless symptom checkerThe “new and improved” symptom checker is useless compared to the old version. Having to think of what the symptoms might be listed as is difficult, and you can’t choose which part of the body the symptom affects or appears. I hope WedMD go back to their previous easy to use, helpful version..Version: 7.4.1

DfNeed a canadian version u idiots.Version: 0

App is Limited"Local Health Listings" have no Canadian content..Version: 3.2

Used to be usefullSucks now. Zero stars if possible..Version: 7.1.1

Symptom checker updates = less accurate resultsI like the old version of the body especially for stomach pain there are tons of different stomach pain that can mean tons of different things wrong that may not even be stomach. For instance husband most likely having gas pain or gallbladder pain but the only related question to his pain was where in the stomach it didn’t follow the pqrs (pain position, quality what it feels like, radiation does it go some where else and severity 0-10) which is basic assessing that it should. And it used to do. So when pain in right upper corner is the only answer I can give as for the stomach pain and it brings stomach cancer as the number one. This was not a good change to a decent app..Version: 7.1

Loading Issues on IPADIt’s a great source of info but I’m not able to load the content.😫😫😫😫😫😫😫.Version: 9.1

Update problemsThe old version of the app was stellar. Since the update, however, the symptom checker, instead of choosing from a list based off body part, uses a system where you type your symptoms in and it gives you options from there. When inputting symptoms, even symptoms it offers as examples (such as nausea and headache) come back as “no result.” I used this app once after the update without issues, but now any symptoms typed in come back with “no result.” Also, conditions you input into your profile do not show up in symptom checker when it asks you about conditions (ex. Depression). Same thing happens with certain medications that aren’t as common..Version: 7.0.1

Poor links between promoted health issue and article!Promotional health issues do not necessarily link to articles.Version: 11.11.1

Loved it ... until ...Absolutely loved the WebMD app. Only flaw I could find was some medications (common) missing from the medication database. Then I updated to most recent version, including the “brand new symptom checker.” ITS AWFUL! It seems to have become massively limited in possible conditions, the layout for filling out symptoms is horrible and the medication database has lost half its data! Medications I had looked up on the previous version now “don’t exist.” Really disappointed with latest update! :( (v7.0.2).Version: 7.0.2

CrashesI really liked this app. It worked all the time but now it won’t let you add any more reminders because it crashes all the time.Version: 6.4

Needs workWhen the allergy app was moved to this one some of the functionality was lost. It says allergy “tracker” but you can’t actually track anything. The pollen count is wildly off compared to two other apps I use — saying HIGH when the others literally say NONE. The allergy alerts say stay indoors or close windows from 5 to 10 am yet the alerts are delivered at 7 am. I eventually turned the alerts off but I keep getting them! I forced closed the app and logged out & in but it still sends them..Version: 10.10.2

VoiceOver UserThanks to a recent update, this app is much more accessible for those of us who use VoiceOver. Now that I can use it, I find it terrific!!As an update to this review done months later, I find one issue. If I do a search in Conditions, I have to completely close and reopen the app, as no Back button appears. Otherwise, it is terrific! Yet another update to my initial review. I still have to close the app to get out of a major category, such as Conditions or Search. Now, in addition, if I am in Conditions, the A-Z list will not come up at all, even though it says it’s displaying. This means I can only access the Popular Searches. I’m out of luck if I need to look up something rare. I hope these will be fixed soon. Further update: Despite more updates to the app, all of the annoying bugs already mentioned are still there. I still have to close the app in order to go to another section (e.g., from Conditions to Drugs). I still can’t bring up the A-Z list of Conditions, or the A-Z list of Drugs; it’s only the Most Popular for both. No scrolling to a rare condition, or to a drug that isn’t on the top 94. May not be deliberate discrimination, but is frustrating nonetheless. Please fix!.Version: 6.8

Update makes suggestions less accurateI updated the app today and used it both before and after. It was a 5 star app until the change. The pop-up questions that come up after you select certain symptoms have changed. Before the update it asked if my symptoms were due to recent anti-biotic use, which they were and I was diagnosed later in the day by my doctor with the top option that came up. After the update I did the same thing because I was curious about the update and not only did it not ask me about recent anti-biotic use, the thing that was wrong with me wasn’t anywhere on the list of possible maladies. It also no longer asks what type of pain you’re having (burning, stabbing, etc) the list of drugs you can put in is very limited (thyroid meds and vitamin d aren’t on it), and they took away the body image altogether. Unfortunately that makes it look to me like this new update is far less accurate and less functional than the previous one. I hope they fix that soon, I rely on this app a lot..Version: 7.0

Keeps closingBeen using for a long time and worked great now it keeps signing me out and losing my medication reminders. Please fix.Version: 8.9.1

No Canadian listingsGreat content but should be Canadian friendly as well.Version: 3.3

US orientedWould be better if it was more international based.Version: 7.4.1

Remove the AddsWas better when there was NO advertising I would have given it 5 stars then..Version: 9.3.1

Unable to open appThere’s a little problem with this app. Like every time I open this app it automatically closes sending me back to the home screen. I so wanted to send feedbacks to the developers so that they can investigate soon..Version: 8.3.1

Problems with notificationsDownloaded solely to replace the standalone allergy app, which I find helpful. I tried other allergy apps but did not find the features/regional coverage necessary to be of use. So from this app, I want the allergy notifications and nothing else. In the app, there are two notifications toggles — one for allergy notifications and one for “top stories” notifications. I deselected the latter but still get unwanted push notifications about random health articles. Again, I want allergy notifications ONLY but despite the appearance of choice, the notifications I’m getting are all or nothing. So I’ll be disabling notifications entirely in iOS settings until this is fixed, or just deleting the app otherwise..Version: 11.2

Good app BUTIt's a good app to use but I have to use a different app for my meds because this doesn't list all meds.Version: 9.4

Details MatterGenerally I enjoy using this app for my medication reminders, looking up drug interactions, and health news. One annoying oversight I’ve discovered is when I travel, changing time zones, the app does not recognize the new time zone and reminds me to take my meds as if I was still home. So I end up changing the reminders when I travel. It shouldn’t be that way, in my opinion. I’m sure a software patch could address that issue by confirming with the user that they want to update their time zone/location..Version: 10.9.3

Useless new symptom checker.Deleted the app immediately because it's useless.Version: 7.1.1

This update is very unresponsive. I hate itSince the last update of this app on my iPhone it freezes every time I hit one of the buttons. It takes at least 60 seconds to load between when I press the button on my iPhone screen to win it registers so that I can check off that I have taken my medication. I know it’s not my phone, because no other app has this problem. Please fix this version. I am going to stop checking in the fact that I have taken my medication but keeping the app so that I have the note to vacations pop-up to remind me to take them. But as of right now, the app is more junk than it is usable.Version: 8.8

Poor developer upgradeWhat had been a user friendly and reliable app for years has overnight become an absolute joke. Symptoms are now so vague they are of no use and tend to give you the same few possible outcomes regardless..... Then the listed Conditions given after the vague symptoms have been entered no longer load when you click for further information you just get the wheel of doom and give up after 5mins. Absolutely pointless App now, and will be deleting if this does not improve. Too frustrating to use. The old one was soooo much better, fed up with developers that don't test things before launching them! Best way to lose your followers !.Version: 7.2

IssueI tried to add a new reminder. A new medicine. But I was unable to save it because I repeatedly got an error “This reminder already exists in the selected timeframe”. Renders the app useless I’m afraid..Version: 8.2

Not loving the update.I like before when you could pick where on the body your symptoms are and then they’d ask questions about them. I liked that. It should stay that way about then make it so you can also put your own stuff in if you don’t find it in the lists..Version: 7.0

Mislead to downloadSo the WebMD Allergy app informed me via a pop-up prompt, that the allergy app would no longer be working, and that I had to download this primary WebMD app to “continue” getting allergy information for my area. First off, there is no functionality at all similar to the WebMD Allergy app on this app. I have looked extensively and even searched via the app itself. Secondly, be sure to disable notifications because they will send you “news” blog articles daily. I don’t like being mislead, so they get 2 stars..Version: 11.10

Allergy trackerSo the one thing i use on a DAILY basis—and have the widget on ALL of my devices—is going away in just a few weeks. VERY disheartening. this was my “one-stop-shop” app for medical and allergy information, from a source i can trust, WITH the convenience of a widget (i literally got excited when it was introduced), and now it’s just as quickly being taken from me. anytime a company/organization starts removing CORE features and services from their app(s), i usually know it’s time to “worry” and look elsewhere..Version: 11.7

Not bad but it has a problemSince a few weeks, the app doesn't clear the badge on the icon. I tried with different settings but it makes no difference. I'll wait another few days but I'll uninstall it if the situation does not change. Update: app uninstalled..Version: 8.9.1

Crashes OftenThis APP crashes often so I don't bother much with it, otherwise it has excellent information and will be very useful with an update to fix the problem..Version: 0

15 min never get backLike they are there to save the insurance company money. Reminds me of workman’s comp nurse one time telling me nothing wrong you have a cold when I needed surgery. If I have a cold I would know if I have a cold it’s because iam get sick. Better off wasting your time and save the fee for your time with a real doctor. I would not have tried this if I had the time to go see a doctor. So take this review how ever you want I would not be wasting my 15 min I will never get back if I can save you time to make your decision. Good luck hope u have better results than I did as with all the medication out in this world we live in research and development out there. OTC that’s what I needed to know......Version: 8.3.2

What have you done? This new version is terrible. Roll back to the old one owners. Clearly you didn’t get any user feedback first..Version: 7.3

Not what it saysDescription says you could record medical history and information. You can not..Version: 6.8

Okay, but...... not so good for the UK market. When I saw that this app had medication reminders and also for the Apple watch, I thought great I'll have that. Four of my med's however aren't listed as the drugs database is for the US. So the one thing that sold me one this app made it unsuitable for me..Version: 7.1.1

Terrible!New improved symptom checker is useless!!!.Version: 7.0

Beta symptom checker is horribleThe Beta symptom checker is horrible. The symptom search doesn’t show all possible options (ie searching for Red doesn’t show anything about skin, but yet searching ‘Skin Red’ shows 8 options), so you have to spend additional time and get creative with finding search terms. Then on the ‘Enter your history’ screen, the current medications search doesn’t include some common medications (eg Effexor XR - antidepressant, chlorthalidone- diuretic). The past or current conditions also lacks common and not so common conditions. It doesn’t have any variation of GERD aka acid reflux or heartburn Searching for obese or obesity only brings up ‘Past obese surgery.’ Don’t roll out a new/Beta feature to general public if your list of values doesn’t even include very common conditions..Version: 7.0

Updated sign-inThanks for making it possible for Canadians to sign-in. Looking forward to Canadian local listings..Version: 3.2

It crashes after the new updateI have an iPhone with all the updates. Previously when using the safari and looking for information about a drug in the browser and the information comes from the WebMD page. if you have the app installed on the iPhone the safari automatically opens the app and you can see the information. Now with this new update it crashes and I can't see the info. I proceeded to uninstall WebMD app and reinstall and still the same, I had to delete the app so that then I can see the information in the browser without any problem. If you open the app and search the information using the app, it opens and works without any problems..Version: 9.0.1

Won't let me sign upGot this because health app said this one tracks heart rate but I can't see how and the sign up page doesn't work. All it does is tell me how far I've walked but doesn't let me put in any swimming I've done. Not very impressed so far..Version: 5.9.4

Crappy updateWill be deleting APP. No longer informative full of ads What happened to the interactions tab This, to me, was one of the best apps I ever had. I went to it all the time. So disappointed. Goodbye, WebMD..Version: 11.8.1

Where did the allergy air quality information go?I used to have the separate WebMD Allergy app, but then they got rid of that a few years ago and combined it into the main WebMD app. Now I can’t even find Allergy info in the main app anymore, it used to be right at the top and was the only part of the App I used..Version: 11.8

Used everyday until nowThis app has been a critical tool in my DAILY life. I suffer from extreme allergies and have to see what is high each day BEFORE ai eat. If dust is high, I then know I cannot eat shellfish, if trees are high, I have to be very cautious on eating anything from a tree AND eggs (pollen from trees are eaten by chickens and transfer the pollen to me) I do not understand why they took over the previous app I was using only to shut it down a year later. So so upsetting. I have shared this app with many people who, like me need a tool to help guide them on high allergy days. I now have to test and see if I have an allergy attack. Thanks WebMD, appreciate that. I have search all over for a replacement for this app & cannot find anything that compares to the information WedMB provided me. I wish you would reconsider opening it back up. If you you know about another app that gives all the information your used to, please provide that with me and I will update this review. Thank you for hearing me out. I am POSITIVE I am speaking up for MANY others with my SERIOUS Allergies..Version: 11.8.1

Canadian content please !!!!Please give us Canadian content too..Version: 2.2
