Medscape for Negative User Reviews

Great but I hate the adsExcellent resource. Would gladly pay for ad-free version. Is this not possible??.Version: 10.1.1

Recent updatesI have used Medscape since prior to 1998. I have taken advantage of the Ceu’s for several specialties I am involved with. Always satisfied. The update I was almost forced to to perform turned this site into a chaotic fiasco that prevented me from obtaining infomation by constantly changing the page into a whole page advertisement that blocked out the info I had needed as well as jugling constantly. I took app off my computer. I am attempting to replace app and will give it another try. Over 20 years without problems. Whats happened? Mary C. Scarboro.Version: 8.2

Était bienUse to like it a lot....

Bias Reporting!!!Why has this site become a politically bias site and not just reporting medical facts? Getting kickbacks from lobbyists and drug companies and Democrats? I'm not even an American and this is blatantly obvious!!! Disgusting that you are giving out FALSE information on certain topics. This is supposed to be a FACTUAL medical info site, VERY DISAPPOINTED in you, where is your sense of what is RIGHT?.Version: 5.9

Ads are ridiculousHonestly I can’t even read a single section without the ads popping up between text or taking over the whole page. I’ve used medscape for years and I didn’t mind the one or two ads here or there but this is downright obnoxious and makes the app unusable. Either make an affordable ad-free version (not a subscription) or reduce the intrusive ads. Please. For the sake of healthcare providers who use this, don’t make me switch to a different source..Version: 5.11.8

Issues with advertisementsI have used this app frequently for my CMEs since I am a private duty nurse. Recently there have been ads come up on bottom of some of the quiz pages, they block the question so you cannot complete your answers and receive credits. There is no way to remove ad box or raise text above it to complete. If you open ad and try to go back it takes you back to list of educational information. I have started 2 quizzes tonight and am unable to receive credit because I cannot answer! Very frustrating!.Version: 11.1.1

DisappointingToo many annoying ads. Font too small not optimized across all sectors of the App.Version: 11.6.1

Error message saying internet connection required to installI had been using this app for years! I loved how everything was laid out for drugs brand/generic, adr, images, and useful info. I would use it at work or when I was in class. Now that I’ve updated my new iPhone it just gives me this error message “internet connection required to install”. Can someone help?.Version: 7.8

New Intrusive adsI don’t know when this changed, but when using the app the ads, which had previously been fairly non-intrusive, now pop-up and cover the screen whenever I visit a new page or topic. This is very annoying and I’m not happy with the change! I have been using Medscape for years as a quick, reliable medical reference and this change is very noticeable and very unwelcome and I may have to find another pocket reference..Version: 6.1

Annoying adsUsed to be the most wonderful app. Super useful and easy to use. Evernote since ads have been integrated (especially the new moving ones) it's become essentially unusable. They should have a paid version that gets rid of ads.Version: 5.11.2

Best days are in the pastMedscape was once one of my favorite apps, so much information at the touch of a finger. Extremely informative and useful in the clinical setting. Now it has been plagiarized with nonstop adverts worse than any clickbait website online. It is literally impossible to get through one paragraph of an article, use one tool, read one recommendation without an ad appearing an replacing the text. I get the point of adverts, and I understand the app is free...but balance is something that so desperately needs to be established between advertisers and consumers. Until then...count me out..Version: 8.2

Ads are ridiculous!!I love Medscape; it’s a great resource at my fingertips. Lately, however, I can’t read one sentence without having ads insert themselves directly into the text I’m trying to read. Getting information is much more time consuming, trying to re-find the spot where I was reading because the ads move the text! This must be resolved or I will have to find another resource..Version: 5.11.8

Usefulness of the app has suffered greatly1. The app has been valuable because of accurate and extensive information. But the app cannot be used efficiently with the presence of excessive and advertising. 2. The app presented valuable information quickly to both lay users and medical professionals. With the hands, the app seems unprofessional and could easily be taken by Lee persons as a website primarily intended to sell medical products. You have greatly cheapens the app. 3. If you need to monetize the app, then consider an ad free version that professionals in the interested lake people could pay a reasonable fee for as an in app purchase..Version: 5.14

AdsI understand that this is a free app, and that ad support is therefore essential. But ads in this app are getting more and more intrusive. What used to be a banner at the bottom or on the page as on is scrolling is now a pop up that interrupts the entire flow (in addition to banner ads that are still there), that need to be manually closed out. Many of the pop up ads are titled "Manufacturer Announcement," which would be appropriate if these were pop ups about emerging drug safety alerts or recalls, but they are just ads and nothing more. They make Medscape feel like a cheap website with questionable integrity. I have always liked Medscape as a quick and organized reference, but it is becoming less appealing, not because of content but because of ad formatting and interruptions. I'd gladly pay a reasonable annual fee for an ad free version with premium features. But the free app is heading in the wrong direction..Version: 11.4.2

Love the app but now it doesn’t show pregnancy classificationI am a dentist and absolutely love this app, however this week I noticed they removed the pregnancy classification. It tells you how it affects pregnancy and breastmilk but no more classification added to the drugs. I hope they fix this soon.Version: 7.7.2

No more ads!!I use this multiple times daily for medication dosages. The ads have gotten insane! I have to X out of 2-3 adds to look at one medication sometimes. If you’re going to continue this then at least have a paid non-ad version please..Version: 11.4.2

The ADS! Hate it!Edit: Still can’t deal with the ads, now it’s on the bottom of the green and five times randomly in the text. I don’t use Medscape as frequently as I used to but it still remains an annoyance. Once again, I’d pay for an ad free experience. I love Medscape and I use it daily but I cannot deal with the ads anymore. They are intrusive and so irritating. I'll gladly pay a fee to use this app without the ads. It's taking me a lot longer to find the info I need in a hurry because of these adverts. Won't someone think of the healthcare professionals??.Version: 5.9

Used to love, now MEHAds, ads, ads. Obnoxious privacy and marketing policy. I hate being tracked. Unfair as we can’t turn parts of it off! In my opinion they have destroyed their credibility with the ads. They used to have advertising but were classy about it at least. Not now. And now has quit working since last update. Meh at best.Version: 11.6.0

MalfunctionTried to create a free account and would not let me would just come up and say ‘log in failed’ couldn't even use it.Version: 7.8

Regular bugs & crashes make app unusableOverall the app has been a nice resource to have in the past, but as of late it's nearly impossible to actually use without the whole app crashing or freezing. Unfortunately, it doesn't really matter what information/resources are available when said things cannot be reliably retrieved..Version: 8.2

Iphone medscape appGreat application for free medication reference, and a good source for keeping your knowledge uptodate. I have always enjoyed the CME articles from medscape. The downside with the iphone app is that you can't choose which CME article to read. It would be nicer if there was a list of CME articles to choose from (rather than the 2 that's randomly generated), just like the PC version.Version: 2.2

Update ProblemSince the update yesterday the app on all my devices gives a warning “unable to connect to Medscape”. Needs new update to fix update..Version: 9.2.9

Non Paying SurveysOn multiple occasions, After completing surveys that should be reimbursed, the Medscape program will state the survey has been closed or submit an error message, thus refusing to appropriately reimburse for surveys being completed. Then they will offer to correct the issue and make payment, only to, months later, state they made an error and payment will not be made. I have emails backing this all up. Criminal what they are doing, I’m no longer wasting my time for surveys that they lie about to not reimburse..Version: 11.2.2

Good in parts but very annoyingGood database very comprehensive and up to date. The constant forced update is extremely annoying. Missed your monthly update? Sorry you cannot look anything up unless it has installed the latest update, which may take a while via 3G or GPRS depending on how bad the signal is. And it is very bad in my operating theatre. Makes a good app practically unusable..Version: 3.3

ErroroRecently This app in ios has trouble , i cant use it.Version: 5.13

App won’t installEvery time I try to log into this app after I install it the message I receive is “ internet connection is required to install. retry “ which is ridiculous since I am hooked up to the internet. Useless.Version: 7.3

App crashes and sometimes can’t find articlesOftentimes this app will crash, when opening a push notification. I click on the push notification and pretty much get a black screen. Found an interesting article while searching web. It was a Medscape article. I clicked on article and it gave me an option to open the app. Once in the app, it doesn’t take me to the article. So I copy and paste the title of the article in the search bar on the app and I get nothing….Version: 11.4

IPad OS Multitasking SupportLove the app. Use it to use as a reference when researching a topic or simply refreshing information during my clinical rotations. Specially like the ability to have the database offline. Sadly can’t have the app run side by side another app. This would be so useful as I could be taking notes on one side of the screen and reading Medscape on the other. Hope this feature gets added in the near future..Version: 6.4.2

Internet not recognizedArticles are no longer readable because a message appears saying Internet connection is needed. This, though my wireless is on, and I am connected to the Internet. Why has this app become unusable for news? Why so many ads which cover-up content? since others have reported the same problem, why has the developer not given any answers?.Version: 11.3.1

Merci!Excellente application; vraiment surprenant que c'est gratuit..Version: 0

Ads make it very annoying!I first downloaded Medscape when I was a medical student. I have used it many times in the past, but now I tend to open the app as a last resource. Why? Because of the annoying ads! I’m thinking about paying an uptodate subscription and say farewell to MedScape for good if they don’t remove the ads. We are medical professionals seeking information for the good of our patients, not to pass the time because we are bored. I hope that clarifies my disappointment and reminds you of the purpose of this app and any other source of medical information. At least come with a solution like an advertisement-free version that is not free....Version: 5.9

Enough with the AdsI have always loved this app. I use it all the time. Unfortunately, every time I use it, the Tecfidera ad pops up. Not just one time, but constantly. It’s so irritating that I get frustrated, close the app and use another one (that I hardly ever used before you added these ads). I agree with the other reviews. It is harder to find information on it now. The more I search, the more the ad pops up, the more I dislike the app..Version: 7.4.2

Ads destroying productI have used this app (along with several others) for professional reference for years. I understand that it is free and Medscape needs a way to sustain the service, but the ads have made it impractical to use for work. There are times when ads pop up repeatedly in the middle of text. Not worth it - too many other good resources that are available these days. ***update: I thought it could not get worse, but it has. It is, essentially useless now.Version: 11.9.2

Wonderful app...destroyed by ad barrageI love this app, i have used it almost every day in clinical and hospital situations. It is updated daily and provides accurate information. The only con to this app is the near constant barrage of ads when you are trying to actually read the wonderful information contained within. Every time you scroll to read the next paragraph blam you are hit with another bit of advertisement for some medication....Version: 5.12

Once great, now mediocreThere has been a steady decline in the quality of this app. Once a stellar resource for medications it is now riddled with problems. Frequently unresponsive with occasional crashes it also takes a long time to load and actually use. There is also the relatively new issue of ads in the last 1-2 years. While the content remains good regarding its pharmacopoeia, the app is unusable. Will shift to uptodate and DynaMed in its place..Version: 5.16

Political-NOT-MedicalThis app used to be great for quick references. Sadly, this app now fills your inbox with very biased politically slanted emails. When I attempted to get ahold of the developer or anyone from its service regarding this (because THEY WOULDN'T STOP EVEN AFTER I UNSUBSCRIBED!!!), nobody ever responded. This is UNETHICAL to say the very least and far from professional. Regardless of political view, nobody wants it in the work place, ESPECIALLY in the medical profession. BOTTOMLINE: because this app is now something else than it claims to be, it continues emails and WONT DELETE ACCOUNT, and THERE IS ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS APP - ESPECIALLY TO THE Medically-minded..Version: 5.15

Good but Results QuestionableI primarily bought the app because I was looking for a drug interaction checker and I thought what better way than to have one on my iPod. When I first tested it, I thought that it was great. However, for some unknown jump in logic, I decided to test the same interactions on the website. Needless to say I was very surprised that the results for the same search were very different! On the iPod, it showed a "Serious" interaction and on the website, it found no interaction. Which one do you believe? This then begs the question, which other interactions can be trusted? I like the "News" section and some of the other info on the site so that gave the 3 Star rating otherwise it would have been either a 1 or 2. Medscape needs to address the potentially erroneous results issue in a timely manner..Version: 0

Good information, usability is a major problemFor a free app' Medscape truly excels in the amount of information available. The drug interaction checker is one of the best that I have found, leaving the MIMS version for Windows Mobile (Australian version) trailing behind. However, the need to search multiple volumes of screen headings (Emergency, Criticl Care, etc, followed by the multiple chapters (without cross referencing) makes this application much less useful in a busy clinical life. It could be improved so much by adding a search option that highlighted the section subject coupled with a vertical bar that allowed immediate access to the susection being sought, i.e. pathophysiology, treatment etc. It is such a shame that this truly impressive and FREE resource renders itself so irrelevant in moment to moment clinical practice through its cumbersome software..Version: 0

Content unavailableSome content is not available like LSD.Version: 6.6

A bit of bug maintenance overdueI tapped on developer support instead of writing a review because reviews are sometimes unfair, but the link didn’t work. The reason I am trying to reach the developer is because the notifications are currently worthless. When you click them and it brings you to the MEDSCAPE app, it never brings you to the story/info from the notification. Those notifications are what interest the readers and remind that the MEDSCAPE app exists and they. have been broken for quite a while..Version: 6.1

Problem with internet connectionFrom 3 days ago medscape doesn’t search for drugs that isn’t exist in offline data , i think there is problem in my internet connection the i replaced the internet connection and uninstall the app and downloaded it again the app doesn’t open and there is a message “ internet connection is required to install “ please solve this problem because medscape is my fav app.Version: 5.13

Ads have become completely intrusive.I used Medscape throughout medical school and it quickly became my go to resource. I’ve used essentially ever major medical app and this was hands down my favorite. Now the app will not allow a section of text to be ad free. I’ll scroll down while reading and a new ad will insert itself between the text. This is exceptionally distracting and interrupts reading. Why can’t they just keep the ad banners down at the bottom? There is already one there anyway? I probably will be uninstalling Medscape, which is very disheartening because I’ve been using it for so long. In their quest for ad space they have lost someone to advertise to, and I’ve lost a great resource. There’s no winners in this scenario. It was a good run while it lasted and I’ll always be appreciative towards the app, but I can no longer support it..Version: 5.11.6

I want to be clearI am like this app a lot, but there are some things that are holding me back from using it daily. In my previous review I mentioned that there was no way to send articles via text message and there was no way to save articles for later. A developer responded that there was a way to save articles for later, which is true except in certain circumstances. If you search for an article or click on any article after opening the app, you can save it for later. However, if you get push notification about a story that you might like and you click on it, it does not give you the option to save it for later. I would use this app much more frequently if these two features were in it. I currently almost don’t use it at all because I can’t share through text message. Other than that it’s a great resource and I hope it continues to improve in the future.Version: 6.0

Disappointed at the regression.I love Medscape, but I can’t stand the fact that on iPads which cannot support iPad os, we are forced to put up with a version similar to the iphone version, where everything is in one column. Before the ipad version allowed one to see the topics while reading through the article..Version: 6.5.1

Ads seriously interfereI’ve used the web version for years and will continue to, and the app is ok for a quick drug lookup. But the ads in this app version are so disruptive for any long article that it’s unusable—both because they suddenly pop up in the middle of what I’m reading, and because scrolling freezes for many seconds at a time while an ad is preparing to pop up.Version: 11.3.2
