✓ Limited and difficult to useCatch up option is difficult to get working, it does allow 20s jumping, but cannot keep downloads for more than a week, also the “walled garden” nature means that if you listen to podcasts from other sources, you need to keep switching between apps... we also lose the ability to pay for a download that don’t contain adverts. —— For those who get lost with subscribing/downloading of shows (and for feedback for the developers)... The app works in two different ways - First, there an overview area (bottom bar shows Stations, Music For, and My Downloads), where the Stations take you into a completely different side to the app (focused entirely on that station), which shows a small “G Home” icon in the top right (this is the thing to take you back to the overview area). To subscribe to a station, you need to login (from the overview area, using the small cog icon in the top right), then “go to” a station, find a show from the “Schedule + Catch Up” page (select an old date first), then press “Subscribe”... it will ask you to enable notifications with no explanation as to why - it won’t work if you decline. I assume they are using notifications to trigger the downloads of new shows (rather than the app polling the server every 30 minutes), but just as likely, they could be doing this to annoy you with notifications (i.e. the “look at me, you haven’t used me for at least a day” problem)..Version: 38
✓ No you cannot have my detailsI do not want to give my details, however, this app is determined to try to get them. You do not have to let it locate you, or create a log in. What happens though, is that after a few sessions it will insist you create a log in to listen. Every time it does that I delete the app and re-download it. ✓ Poor qualityKeeps defaulting to stations I never listen to, every time the app goes to the background or gets closed down. It also doesn’t remember the point at which you left catch up so you can resume your previous listening by session. ✓ Please stop automatic audio on launchBig problem with user experience with this app. When I launch the app, I don’t want the audio to start automatically. I want to launch the app, then manually activate audio. If you’re in a public place and you absent-mindedly launch the app, this is a massive issue. Also, if you’re specifically launching the app to listen to catch-up, you have to first go through live audio, quickly switch that off, then go to catch-up. Massive ux mistake..Version: 38
✓ Intrusive radioThis app will no longer play unless you have an account with the radio providing name and all sorts , you can’t just be an anonymous listener. If you ever call the radio they will keep your phone number and name forever and as soon as you call again they will know who is calling. ✓ Missing an important feature.I love LBC and listen a lot. However I really need/want to listen on catch-up rather than live. When I want to hear Ferrari or Kentish from the start, but they are already half-way through, I have to wait until the show has ended before I can start the catch-up. This is restricting and frustrating. What this app really needs is a feature like BBC iPlayer has, where you can elect to listen live or ‘start from beginning’ even if the show has been running for a while - and not have to wait for it to finish..Version: 102.0
✓ Give us an option to remove the Ads backUsed to love listening during the night as an insomniac. Was happy to pay for this. Don’t bother any more as you push ads onto the listener constantly. Even the daytime ones are irritating - why do so many contain whistling which sets my non barking dog off, barking incessantly. ✓ Crashes constantly when offlineIOS 13 seems to have broken this app completely. It was always a bit temperamental when switching between WiFi access points or moving in and out of cell reception areas, often crashing and requiring a restart. But since moving from an iPhone 6 to an iPhone 11 the app simply will not stay running in Airplane Mode, or in an area with patchy reception. It crashes every 30 seconds, making it useless for listening to shows on catch-up. It's almost as though it's constantly trying to "phone home", or maybe buffer the live stream even if you're listening to catch-up, and just dies when it can't. Please fix this. ✓ Down hill as no sleepThe two most important features of a radio are the ability to play you station and the ability to stop playing that station. Other features like choosing what to play, sounding nice, and of course ideally auto / timer based start (alarm) and stop (sleep). Sadly the evil people at either lbc or who wrote this app have decided that either they don't want me to listen to lbc or they don't want me to sleep - WHERE HAS SLEEP MODE GONE. worse still they haven't even responded to emails / messages. Now the other stuff like seeing news info schedule etc links to social media is nice but ONLY if the basics work. indeed i think the other stuff is improved. BUT GIVE ME SLEEP MODE BACK.... your status info didn't even tell me that the upgrade would downgrade me by removing my sleep. ✓ Yet another password to rememberI have been listening to LBC for well over a decade. However, it is now necessary to create an ‘account’, using one’s e-mail address, in order to use this app. Why is it necessary to have to do this to listen a commercial radio station? ✓ Forcing people to sign in is a big mistake!I love “ed” LBC. Forcing people to create an account to listen to radio is a VERY bad move. DATA hacks and passing on private data to a radio station is not something a lot of people will be comfortable with. I don’t want my email address getting data mined and passed on to hackers and don’t feel an app for a radio station will have the necessary protections to keep my data safe. ✓ It's okay, but those adverts! Gah!LBC, please get rid of those annoying fullscreen ads! Launch the app, wait at least five seconds before you can do anything with it, and it randomly thinks you clicked the ad when you tried to hit the "Skip Ad" button. Why are you showing ads anyway? You're a commercial station - you already have ads in the stream! It's really annoying when you switch to the app to pause it or stop it, and you get an ad you can't skip for five seconds. ✓ Has potential but FULL of junk advertsThe feel of the application is quite good and intuitive to use. However you have to regular horrible adverts every time you want to use view one of their videos. Then as you use it you keep getting adverts. Adverts, adverts, adverts. Then when it eventually starts you get the radio coming on straight away. When you try to watch a video the radio plays over the top of it so you get two lots of sound. This has potential but it feels very lazily put together. And there feels like no motivation to improve it. I do not recommend this app. But I do strongly recommend James O'Brien. ✓ 40% Adverts...LBC seem to have no concept on how over-advertising encroaches on people’s lives and makes them feel a mere commodity. You also want to mine people data through an app sign up too? I have deleted the app for life and will not listen. If only these genX & boomers understood a different business model. This is the most dinosaur radio station relying solely on making its listeners total commodities. You have gone too far. An hour of my time is not worth 20 minutes of adverts. ✓ Consistent failure to play from catchupAs titled. Common running failure from version to version of playback failing to play, as is the case currently after just updating. Also when skipping through ad breaks and therefore pressing the 20 second button multiple times it’ll often buffer for long if not requiring the app to be closed/restarted. ✓ App worse than old Podcast appI used to subscribe and pay for LBC Podcasts. Although the app had a few annoying glitches (such as not always picking up where you left off), you could at least listen ‘on demand’ with no adverts. With this new LBC approach, everyone can get LBC podcasts without paying. However, you now hear the entire show, including every ad break. As I live overseas they are not relevant to me so every 10 minutes I have to forward through the ads! To add insult to injury, they have also now started an overlay of video ads randomly when you open the app. LBC - please give listeners the option of paying monthly again for podcasts with no adverts. ✓ Forced sign up is off puttingI used to listen to lbc for years, now being forced to sign up in order to listen to them put me off seriously that i decided to ditch this station. ✓ Awful app, big battery drainI used to listen to James O’Brien every day at work with this app (using catch up so I could pause it if I got a phone call, and skip ads) however the app is buggy and annoying to use and you only get a week to listen to shows. I stopped using it and instead used another app to listen to other podcasts and my goodness I now see how much of a battery drain this app is! ✓ Round in circlesDear LBC. What have you done? Every move I make takes me back to the fixed page that says Catch-Up is Closed. There are no instructions, in sequence, to say if or whether an App has to be downloaded, if it is free, If it has to link automatically to a gmail or google account. Complete and utter FOG. I have tried to listen to LBC everyday since using this app and it may work for about 5 minutes, then just closes unexpectedly. Sometimes opening the app does nothing except open the app, no sound, nothing. Closing it and re-opening sometimes works, but not always. I got it to work for 30 minutes continuously -- one time. I usually have to re-launch the app about 20 times during a 30-40 mins time frame if trying to listen. I am giving up until a fix is found..Version: 2.4.2

✓ Opinion on LBCI used to listen to LBC with my wife everday. It used to have balanced views from the left and right of the political spectrum and now it is just woke left wing with that dreadful bore James O’Brien with his monotone drone like voice. James is the kind of person everyone wants to avoid at parties. The only decent balanced hosts left are Nick Ferrari, Steve Allen and Andrew Castle but I think they should move to Talk radio in my opinion. Talk radio is much better with honest debate from the left and right of the political spectrum. I think LBC will sink eventually if they ignore the views of the majority and talk instead to a minority niche echo chamber of left wing woke views. Sad to see as I used to like LBC. ✓ Unable to download catch up programmesThis app is quite good to use and I very much like being able to download the LBC programmes when I’m unable to listen to them live. However, the option to download only allows this to happen if there is a WiFi connection, and does not allow one to use 4G to do so. Granted, the programmes are around 60MB in size but some people have substantial monthly data allowances and so the app should at least give people the option of downloading using WiFi versus mobile data. If this function existed, then the app is worth 4 stars. It doesn’t get 5 as there are sometimes some difficulties with connection..Version: 54.1
✓ Car play doesn’t play downloaded shows?I probably need to get out more but I was really excited by the addition of car play to this app. Imagine my sad disappointment when I found that all you could do was to play the current live show! Who is this aimed at Global Radio? Surely every carplay compatible car audio system will also have a DAB radio receiver? LBC is a national station broadcast throughout the UK on DAB. Why use your data allowance to stream it over the unreliable 3G/4G network when you can just tune the car’s radio? If you only have an old FM radio you are very unlikely to have Carplay so it can’t be that? What I really want CarPlay compatibility for is to be able to play downloaded shows - that would be genuinely brilliant. Next update maybe?.Version: 38
✓ Sick of having to wait to skip adsIf you want to listen LBC download another free radio app, one where you don’t have to wait for these annoying ads before you can skip. It’s the same for all Global Radio ads. When I turn on the radio I don’t have to wait why should it be any different with the app? Their own app is the worst way to listen to their own station. ✓ Terrible App Hardly Ever WorksThis app is appalling. Live radio listening is ‘ok’ however if you try to use the schedule and catch-up it just crashes and stops continuously. ✓ AwfulTotal disaster of the highest order. This is a monumental downgrade from the catch up app. Firstly it doesn’t even tell you which topics the presenter you want to listen to is talking about. Secondly, forced to listen to the adverts. Yes you can forward them but when you’re lying down in bed closing your eyes, having to start picking your phone up and pressing forward is the last thing you want to do. As if that’s not bad enough the content wasn’t even available last time I tried, this means if you haven’t subscribed and downloaded the podcast all you are able to to when this problem occurs is listen to the live show. ✓ Love the content, the app is buggyI love being able to download and listen to James O’brien. The app has been buggy for me though. It crashes often, very much so when on a bad connection or offline, even when listening to downloaded content. Logs seem to show network issues that are throwing exceptions. Nick Ferarri is good and fair but that’s about it. James O’B needs removing permanently- reminiscent of a famous 20’s Bier Keller orator. A very dangerous agitator for the far left in my opinion who is rude, smug and truly repulsive. Other presenters far too interested in their own lefty voices, talking over guests and callers incessantly. People (presenters) are given two ears and one mouth for a reason ... ✓ Now unreliable and frustratingI enjoyed listening to Catch-up editions under the previous subscription scheme, which always worked fine and I was happy to pay for it. Now, in recent months, the app keeps crashing, downloads are not always possible, presenters or topics keep disappearing and a new uniform background for the presenters under “Latest” means on my phone, I can’t tell who is who anymore, without taking out my glasses and reading the names..Version: 44
✓ Recent changes cause iPhone freeze when running alongside other appsHave listened to LBC since its inception, making me more long-term than Steve Allen. Now living abroad, which means the app is a bit of a lifeline. Like the girl with the curl, when it’s good, it’s very good etc. If using as background and want to run another app, very often repeated buffering occurs or the phone freezes. Sometimes an auto reboot occurs, whilst at other times a hard reset is necessary. Tedious and frustrating, to say the least. I know they are brilliant but they ain't often practical! 1) finding downloads when one isn't searching catch up is impossible. Downloads need to be a perm option at the bottom 'menu' bar. 2) why the heck does the app start playing as soon as you open it??? Stop it! Sometimes one is not in an environment where one wants no sound but one wants to download something for later 3) I just don't get the "go to LBC" button when I thought the whole app is LBC?? Rename it "Global" if you intend to add more stations. 4) when one downloads a program and gets play in the middle of the screen it fails. ✓ FIX THIS APP!LBC, what is wrong with you? I haven't seen an update for this app in years despite all the new OSs that have been released. I've been listening to LBC for over 30 years and live in the US now and the only way to listen is online because this app crashes the minute your phone locks. Ridiculous! ✓ A step backwards. Very Poor AppThis app is a huge step backwards. I used to listen to LBC podcasts all the time but this app has driven me away. The stupid idea of only keeping the shows for a week is beyond belief, a huge amount of people who often too busy and do not have time within a week to listen to the shows, many like myself, saved my podcasts for weekends or holidays. The option of paying not to have to listen to the ads has been removed many people were extremely happy to pay this fee. Lastly my iPod touch which works perfectly with every other podcast I have ever tried is not longer supported by LBC. What are Global thinking of, they appear to by trying hard to lose listeners even listeners who were even happy to pay extra. Poor app, poorly thought out..Version: 48
✓ CarPlay functionality is terribleTrying to listen to the LBC station on the LBC app using CarPlay requires scrolling down through every other Global radio station before finding LBC. There is no option to re-order or switch off the other stations. This is terrible UX design. This cannot be completed safely while driving and requires stopping to find the LBC station. Please give other stations their own app or let the user choose a default station. Many drivers will be trying to scroll through while driving which is a complete distraction and dangerous..Version: 57
✓ Deleted within 3 minutes.Not what I thought. I've been looking for a way to listen to full episodes of LBC's Maajid Nawaz. As soon as you open the app the news begins and I was unable to turn it off, until I just had to close the app. Admittedly I did not spend enough time exploring the app because I was in public and could not get the news to stop playing. ✓ Huge downgrade from previous serviceI have subscribed to the LBC catch up service for years and was very happy to pay a subscription fee for this service. Recently bought a new phone and found out that the app no longer is supported and one now has to use this newer and greatly inferior version. Every time you turn it in you have to watch an introductory video advert and the lengthy news, travel and advertisements which used to be deleted no all remain in the recording. I listen a lot when I am driving and, because I don’t want to be reaching for my phone whilst trying to keep my eyes on the road, I am now forever listening to tedious and out of date information which hugely detracts from my enjoyment. Surely LBC must realise that people subscribed to the service to hear their favourite presenters, not several day old traffic reports!! Please bring back the service as you used to provide it; I would be more than happy to pay a higher subscription if that would be necessary..Version: 39
