✓ Great app but a "bug" in the last update.The best app ever, I love it since the first day :-) play it on an iPad is terrific ! But since the latest update there is a little bug : When I play, after some minutes of game the app just hang. Usually it happens when a AI or human player win the latest grey area of the map... Then it hang, touching the screen has no effect, the AI doesn't continue to play. I have to surrender (or come back to the menu and start a new game) to goes out of it. For info, my iOs version is 3.2, should be fine cause Strategery requires 3.1. Please do an update to solve this little problem, I looooove this app :-)) Thanks !.Version: 3.3

✓ Very good, could use a bit of workThis is quite a good game, and thankfully somewhat different from all the risk clones. It feels like it could use some small changes that would make it much more of a serious strategy game, however. Some ideas: * luck is not as big a factor as in Risk, but still too much... perhaps look at the game Diplomacy (but not zero luck!) * should be able to redeploy armies with own territory. * should be able to use multiple regions together in one attack, perhaps more effectively than a single front attack. * defenders should have bigger advantage. * terrain should be a factor -- perhaps just the number of connecting hexes? Responded quickly to serious bug. Can once again recommend this game. **** fun bug: it seems that if you press surrender flag button during the AI's turn... the AI surrenders! The game play is quick and simple, the software is stable, and algorithms aren't overly simple to understand. ✓ One of my favorites but won’t open nowThis game is one of my all-time favorites. I have played thousands of games, and I love it. After a break due to working from home and changes in lifestyle I have come back to play more and am so sad that the app does not open on my iPad anymore. I am not sure why but there are no updates for the app, and it just closes itself immediately upon opening. Restarting my iPad did not fix it. However if you have extended periods away from your charger I'd warn you that it does churn through your battery much faster than any other games- even when compared to graphically intensive games. ✓ Spectacularly Simple, Would Always RecommendIt is so simple, you could learn how the game works in 60 seconds, but mastering it, working out the nuances to outwit your AI and human opponents, I'm surprised I they ears I've enjoyed the app for, yes, years (albeit sometimes infrequently) that it hasn't become best selling app. I'm yet to stumble into any bugs, it doesn't ask for micro transactions, and has the features you would want. Even a colour blind mode. It's probably one of the oldest, if not the oldest recreational app on my iPad but it's definitely up there with the best. Trust me, get it, you'll love it if you enjoy anything along the lines of chess, checkers or othello or any little world domination strategy game, and it's perfect to just open and do a little bit on the train or bus and come bum too, or do a full game if your bored and have a bit of time on your hands..Version: 3.8.0

✓ Ignore the complaints from newbiesDon’t believe the comments about the levels being all about “ridiculously impossible dice rolls” - that was clearly from a person who tried jumping to the “brutal” level before he had a grasp of the subtleties of the game. I only play in the “brutal” level and it is a true challenge (I win 60-70%), but you have to know what you’re doing. I suggest mastering each level before moving up - and disregarding comments of ignorance. It took about 80 hours to work up to “brutal” for me, and has kept my interest for 7 or 8 years now. I do agree, however, about having to occasionally tap many times to eliminate the last one or two pieces (which is usually the result of poor planning on the player’s part, but I accept it as a kind of ‘punishment’ for not getting the end moves just right, driving my challenge right up to the last move), and that there could be an easy fix, but I find it hysterical that the complaint is coming from a screen name with “...Real Zen...” in it. I play this game every time I have to wait for something (Dr’s. offices, on long flights, etc.) and it is a perfect challenge for me. I highly recommend it. November 2020 Update: This game doesn’t appear to be compatible with IOS 14 - it just won’t open since I “upgraded” my IOS.Version: 3.8.0

✓ Very NiceWhat I like most about this game is the presentation. Very crisp and clean. The game play is fun for a quick 5 to 10 minute game, it is very much a 'pick up and play' type of product which is great for portable gaming of this kind. On gameplay alone I would have given it 3 stars simply because there are a few things I would like to see added and/or changed. Specifcially I would like to see a Risk esque element of being able to transfer your armies over to your other captured areas. I would also like to see an option for slower game play. Everything seems to just rush by giving you a sense that what you are doing doesn't really matter much. You end up simply going through the motions of "attack enemy" "end turn" "wait for more units to develop" repeat. I would also like to see some kind of advanced moves where in you can jump certain areas if you meet specific requirements (X amount of units in Y number of areas enables you to attack enemies Z spaces away) Overall for .99 cents it is a no brainer buy. For less than the price of a chocolate bar you get significantly more enjoyment, unless you have some kind of chocolate fetish. The game might end a bit too quickly, but options like increasing the play area, and 4 difficulty settings help extend the fight to a more enjoyable length..Version: 0
✓ ExcellentOne small feature request: I have a 1G iPod touch, with no built-in speaker. I can hear the game's sound effects through headphones but it's odd to wear them just for that. If there could be some little sound effects played through the piezo speaker (the one that can make little clicks and beeps) it would make the game feel more tactile. Sometimes the game will not finish, even though you have won the game, it keeps showing it to be your turn. ✓ Strategery is like a box of chocolates……you keep having just one more small/quick game before you really do stop. Great strategy game for killing two minutes; like a mini Risk. iPad screen is great for epic maps and always nice to have dev add iPad support to existing app rather than charge again. Unfortunately Game Center is only used for scores, not playing friends. ✓ Beautifully crafted, but not without flawsThe level of thought that has gone into this game is clear. Its design goes above and beyond, with a clear tutorial, elegant win/loss page, countless graphical flourishes and other small yet impactful details. These make the core game a joy to play, and lifts it above its peers (e.g. Lux Touch). There are two major problems and one minor niggle: -There are long periods in some games where the outcome is determined, but play continues (either a death march or a victory march). These dull sequences are aggravated by an AI that frequently chooses to do nothing when it is losing. -The outcome of any given game feels too strongly dependent on the starting map layout. (I should note that this is ameliorated by a rapid random map generator, but it does rather feel like cheating to cycle through games before committing to one.) -At the end of the game, a replay of all moves is shown. I can't find a simple way to skip this replay. The game remains greatly enjoyable. These things have not prevented me logging over 150 games in a fortnight's play, so if you like the demo, I would heartily recommend it to you..Version: 0

Fun to try to figure out the AIs and predict their moves. Fun to conquer the world Risk-styles. The one problem is that your starting position largely controls whether or not you have a shot at winning this game. ✓ Coalition strategiesThe most subtle/interesting setups may be with coalitions, which is how I always play it. Give yourself a large board with 2 out of 5 colors, set to “brutal” and strategies naturally evolve such as buffer state, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, complicated lines of supply, sacrificial tactics, and curious dilemmas. Assign yourself a victory condition that both your microstates must survive, and it’s harder. How to play where 3 or more colors contact is often difficult, and chess terms like zwischenzug or similar restraint suggest themselves. It caters for all levels of expertise and can be usefully given to 6 year olds quite successfully. It is a little buggy in places - it doesn't place new armies in your biggest territory first for example and, according to some reviews, the dice are not unbiased - but these can be gotten around. Nice game and fairly cheap. The online option is fairly useless if your opponent disappears. One nice addition would be a megaepic map for devotees. And to be able to choose the number of opponents. ✓ An oldie but a damned goodieThis was one of the first apps I ever downloaded from the (then) brand new shiny App Store. It’s as great now as it was over a decade ago and something I come back to time and again. So the interface is looking a little tired these days but that’s what you get for a freebie! The gameplay is deceptively simple so that a 5 year old can grasp it, but so nuanced it would entertain a chess grandmaster whose strategy may get thrown under a bus by a bad dice roll and have to rethink again. I’d love to see some tweaks; how about options for a capital bonus, a discovery map (where you only see the borders of what you control and their armies), difficult to hold territories with a 3army max, a bar-charting readout of armies, hell why not a landscape view! ✓ Amazing Game!This is my favourite game for my iPod, it is completely addicting. I would completely recommend it to any strategy game lovers, very similar in Style to risk. Although there are some flaws, firstly it is too easy, brutal is just not challenging, secondly I think a great area to expand into could be designing your own maps for the game where you choose the scenario and control the game, this would make it very exciting and would unlock new areas of play. ✓ Love this game...Love the new chat feature!!! It adds an extra dimension to the game :) But the app really the ability to DECLINE a game, as well as accepting them. [EDIT: Worked out how to DELETE a game you don't want to play... Swipe the game in the list and you'll get a delete button :) ] Also, it would be nice to have more than two players in an online game... and conversely the ability to configure the number of players in the SIngle Player mode would nice... sometimes it would be nice to play against just one computer player, other 5 or 6 :) In pass and play, it would also be beneficial to a) change the colour of the 'End Turn' button so it reflects the player colour... and b) move it between moves... I've found players 'accidently' hit the button twice, ending the other players turn by mistake. Otherwise, this is a MUST have game... it'll keep you occupied for days and days on end :) [LATER: I got a new iPhone today and went to play my online games... now asking me for my password. ✓ Great GameReally is an exceptionally well-done game. It runs smoothly on older devices (e.g. - my original iPod Touch), yet still looks and feels amazing. The gameplay is fun and addicting, and the learning curve is great (it's embarrassing to lose on easy and normal, but Brutal is almost always a tough struggle). Pass-and-play multiplayer is great, yet P2P multiplayer would be even better (a feature request email to the developer received the response that implementation is still being discussed internally - READ: Probably not anytime soon). The game actually requires you to think (hint - don't over-expand, and always defend your borders. Preemptive strikes are good to weaken a threatening hexagon). I've gotten a few hours of gameplay out of it, and the game is still as fun as it has always been. The addition of modifiers (Winner takes All, Land Grab, and variable troop placement options) will probably bring me back to the game (off and on) for months to come, especially if it is updated with P2P multiplayer) While the game is, for the most part, bug-free, there are occasional glitches. These do not effect the ratings, however, because they are generally fixed within a week or so. The developers do not shy away from doing minor, maintenance releases as many others do. ✓ Great game & can only get betterThe game is great! I like it a lot. But there are few improvements needed to make it 5 stars. The AI is not very good. It's too easy, even on 'Brutal'. Needs improvement to make it stronger. The Online Battles screen is laid out well but needs a few improvements like an icon showing whether you've Won/Lost in the Completed Battles list. Also a Statistics section at the bottom that shows total no. of games played, total won, total lost, % won, would be a great start. The speed on an Instant Replay is a little too quick to review the play and the speed button in the header doesn't change the replay speed after the games completed. I'd love to be able to continue a chat in a Completed game but unfortunately you can't. Also an icon next to the persons ID in the Game List showing that a new IM/message has been received would also be good. When you enter a game it replays the moves from both sides for the last round. When you're switching between many online games this can be time consuming to watch, especially when using the larger Epic map, so I think it should be optional to view last round replay by pressing a button in the header. This is a great game. So I really only offer all these suggestions for the developers to make it even better. Keep up the great work..Version: 3.3.2
