Tap & Track Calorie Counter for Negative User Reviews

Reporting is weakI was LOVING this app - finding it so convienient - but when I went to send my journal to my email I couldn't - it only lets you send a summary of the values. What I am interested in reviewing is what I amm eating and when (in addition to the food values it already tracks. Totally bummed - would have been great!.Version: 0

GarbCharges more than what it says. Also u cant even save an item that isnt in their database. So every time u eat that thing or things u have to put it in maunually. SAD.Version: 8.2

No compatible with IOSGreat App but low priority for developer and does not keep up with Apple SE updates Now inoperable on my device Very frustrating that an App I love and depended on can now suddenly not be used.Version: 8.0

ReviewIT support does not exist for this app. No customer support or service. A lot if bugs with this version- the search & type option doesn't turn off and the search yields no results. Used to be a good app. Not very impressed.Version: 8.0

Was GreatSince the last update, search function no longer works. Needs a scanner and graph for weight not so accurate..Version: 8.0

Great potential, but needs some work...Finally, a cheap calorie & exercise counter that has a metric units option! I've just downloaded it and it seems quite intuitive and easy to use, however there are a few problems. The advertised 10,000 soon to be 60,000 restaurant entries is great if you are living in the US... not so good for the rest of the world! I don't know about you, but if I decide to go on a dieting kick I tend to reduce the amount of times I eat out and so I need to know the calories for things I cook with... Come on guys, 13 items under the Fruits & Vegetables category; 12 drinks not including coffee ... must do better! Other issues / ideas: Need to have some way of adding a food/exercise item from within the relevant log screen: at the moment, when you are looking at a particular day you have to navigate back to the overview, add an item and then navigate back to the log view. Needs to have decimal option for entries, at the moment they are only fractions. Would be nice to be able to add your own categories. Bit unstable, it's crashed twice in the first 30 min of use... Will hopefully report back when I've used it a bit longer....Version: 0

Could be better with a few changesI agree with most of the other reviews on here, we defiantly need all the Australian foods in this app. Also I think the app should automatically calculate the calories a item has in it once you enter the protein, carbs & fat as it's just a simple calculation. It wouldn't hurt to be able to submit food items you have added to the author for inclusion in future versions. This is a good app but with a few little tweaks it could be GREAT!!!.Version: 0

Pretty easy to use, but...I've been using this app for years and, for the most part, like it. However, lately when I try to sync it, I get an error message. On June 8, 2017, Nanobit Support they are aware of issue & investigating it. I am also getting the message from Apple that the app needs updating. Since I have over 8 years of food & info in the app, I will NOT be happy if I lose it all & have to start with a new app. Would love for there to be a barcode scanning feature, but they say that that is not in the works. Oh well. Let's hope they fix the other issues soon!.Version: 8.0

Units are all USAlthough you can change the Units of meassure between US and SI, this only apply to your body meassurements. Food is still in Cal, pounds and Oz. As others have said, needs NZ brands, these are all US and differs from NZ sold products (even if it's the same brand) Otherwise nice layout and well thought out..Version: 0

Worse app everDon’t waste your money.Version: 8.2

UndecidedInitially I really liked this app and gave it a five star review. I still like it for "keeping track" on what I've eaten etc (though it needs some serious work on their "search" item for foods) BUT - and a very big BUT is I doubt it's accuracy I.e. What you can supposedly eat versus your excercise/body weight/sedentary status etc. I got the app because I'd been stuck in a rut for two years of not being able to drop the half stone I desired - having maintained the same weight for the past two years - give or take the odd pound. Well in the past 3 months of using this app I've put on half a stone!!? I think in some respects it lulls you into false sense of security making out your not eating as badly as you probably are. From now on I intend to ignore their calorie versus excercise assessment and just use it as a "food diary" - I think the exercise and calories burned is the majorly innacurate element that "throws your daily allowance of food intake" - realistically one look at their assessments is so overly exagerated on the calories burned. I shall try ignoring my exercise regardless of what I do and stick to the "daily calorie allowance (not including exercise) and see if that brings more realistic (and wanted) results - I'll feedback again in a couple of months and see if this is a more helpful way to use the app for weightloss.Version: 0

GoodNeeds more NZ foods.Version: 0

Needs create own food feature!!Good app. I would like to see a feature that let's u add your own foods not just calories..Version: 0

Tap & TrackVery good, useful app which is also fun to use. It is disappointing that there isn't much British data, however. To combat this I find myself needing to use other source information to add the nutritional information myself to the app, however once added; app goes from good to great. Love the new additions but some data is incorrect. Nutrition info in app does not always match data on the actual food packaging. If I could recommend one improvement it would be to allow the user to remain in the current screen after adding a food or exercise item rather than defaulting back to overview screen after each data input. Whilst there is nothing wrong with the app doing this, it would be nicer to remain where you are in the app until you are ready to view the overview instead of being taken there during data input and therefore lessen the steps for the user. Just a thought. In any event, all other apps of this kind that I had downloaded previously have been removed from my iPhone as this one is the best. Thanx Saliann PS. With the new version; what's happened to the decimal points when entering data?.Version: 0

DisappointLots of crashes since iOs5 upgrade. Otherwise it's a great app..Version: 7.2.1

Good basic appA little clunky but does the job. There are better apps from a usability perspective but this works quickly and has everything needed. Would be good if could enter kj rather than just calories. Save a lot of converting..Version: 0

MrsGreat, but NZ foods / measurements would make it even better!.Version: 7.2.1

Was great 3 years ago -- Try MyFitnessPal insteadThis program was once great. Then about three years ago, you began to notice that, for example, "fat free" foods were listed as having saturated fat, or the backup wouldn't work. Customer support did say, "we're working on it. Please give us time." Then customer support tuned out and was never heard from again. This program has not backed up or exported for over two years. You get messages saying "contact customer support" but they aren't there. New foods are not added. I found it takes exactly two days to switch comfortably to MyFitnessPal. By the way, that program is much more powerful and has far more entries. Sorry TnT..Version: 8.0

Good, could be so much better! This is a very useful app, but with a couple of tiny changes it could be BRILLIANT. For example: how about making it possible to delete accidentally entered foods, rather than have to delete your entire history?!? Why can't I stick to my calorie limit rather than have exercise automatically increase my daily limit? Shouldn't that be an option instead? Come on app author! Tweak these small things so I can give it 5 stars and recommend it to others!!.Version: 0

No longer functioningSearch function is totally broken. Searching for "beef", "apple" or anything really yields no results. Disappointing as it used to be quite a good app. I don't even know if anyone is maintaining the app, as such a catastrophic bug would have otherwise been attended to..Version: 8.0

Latest updates ruined a great toolBag this and use MyFitnessPal. Free, maintained, cross platform dynamic, and much deeper & well maintained database. Problems that have surfaced for me follow below. With updates, can't use predictive text and access databases. Have been able to synch data in over 3500 entries. App informs that my device isn't logged in. Far as I know , I never logged it out. No way to log the device in without starting over. It also directs contacting the developer. I have tried by email and going to their website. No response. Past review of 5: Flexible, allows adding entire "meals" for input to save time over entering individual items. Can add foods not already in data base. Set tracking to measure balance between fat, protein, and carb uptake reporting each as a % of 100. Inputting exercise, painting, mowing the grass, sex, or shopping increases daily available calories that can be consumed. If my program allows me 1300 cals to loose 2 pounds a week and I do an hour on the elliptical, I get credit for 300 calories burned, allowing me 1600 cals and still be on my 2# per week pace. After using it for a couple of weeks, the interface is quite easy to work with..Version: 8.0

AwfulShocking. Doesn't synch. Bug when trying to disable passcode as you cannot see the button on iPhone 6s. Doesn't track steps if phone is in your pocket. Waste of hard earned money..Version: 8.0

Can work around flawsI cannot make favorites from the search tool although it says I can. Not updated in a long time. AND I prefer this to others with more bells and whistles. I don't need nutrient counting or graphs or social media. Don't need to synchronize to a fit bit thing. I like that it allows recipes and portions. A salad never varies much. Nor stir fry veg. Any variation is rounding error in this process. Other apps did not have this feature.Version: 8.0

Application started of ok and got worseWas ok to start with but over time it hasn't evolved quickly enough. The food database is too american and building custom recipes is not user friendly. A web interface has just arrived but not before I change to another app which is database rich and easily maintained on the phone and via web. I do not suggest this app at all in comparison to myfitnesspal..Version: 0

Too many stepsI loaded 8 apps of this type and started to use them all. This one came out second in my view. Too many screens and steps to do things. Editing food or exercise after you add it is slow and clunky. Groups are a waste of time and effort. Adding a food to favourites or ising one from favourites has redundant steps. I prefer Calorie Counter by FatSecret. It's free as long as you can ignore adds at bottom of screen..Version: 7.2.1

DissatisfiedI really liked the app at first I paid for the upgraded version,I used to be able to sync the app so I could access it on 2 devices, however my app stopped syncing saying there was an error with the server, I contacted support and they said they were aware of the problem,BUT IT NEVER GOT FIXED. In the meantime I found a much better app called (my fitness pal) it works much better and it even allows you to scan the barcode of your food and it gives you the serving size and all the nutritional value "calories, carbs, protein, exact.".Version: 8.0

Verry good but some glitch of malfunctionSee above.Version: 7.2.1

Was My FavoriteThis is the best App if it wasn’t basically abandoned. I use to be able to sync my phone to the website and use either my PC or app to enter data. All the reports were useful but now it seems like the math is off when calculating % of protein, fat and carbs. So frustrating knowing how well this app use to work! All the other apps are missing what is offered here, I guess maybe I should figure out how to develop the app myself so I can get all the things I love about this app working correctly combined with some features I think if along the way..Version: 8.2

Entering foodsI find this app easy to navigate. It's a bit of work adding foods and would be great if you could scan barcodes..Version: 7.2.1

Just another crap appI've had this app for quite a long time but now when trying to edit recipes it just crashes. Just one more crap app to add to the list of many!!!.Version: 8.2

I cannot access the food databaseThe last update has done something to prevent me access to the food database. Please could you provide a fix..Version: 8.0

Not British at allUseful for americans. It's annoying when you look for a food type & all you find is an american alternative-usually a different product altogether, nutritionally varied, different in size & calorie measure etc. Not all products have detailed nutritional information so you can't always input your own info, this is also time consuming and leaves you feeling like you can't be bothered with it at all! I agree with others that it is a great app, but literally even the brands have American equivalents e.g starbucks, mcdonalds etc are all American versions & measures. Even standard uk restaurants aren't on the app. Even if you just use the American alternatives in place for what you really meant you have to adjust quantities by measure, this leaves the final result an inaccurate record of info and therefore with limited trust in the application. The same goes for the fitness portion im not sure how accurate the calorie loss info is & it's missing many common exercises you might do at the gym. Please make a UK version, or at least put foods from the world in that are not canned or bought in frozen packs (who eats canned curry with from frozen chapattis, or minced meat, boiled???!) I would love this app if only it had more sensical items. It's a quality app with crap on the data base!.Version: 0

Quite good but could b betterIt's quite good but could b improved in several ways. The ability to select and group multiple items and save them for reuse would really speed up the logging process eg 'cereal breakfast' which might comprise cornflakes, milk, coffee, raisins etc all of which now have to be selected and entered individually..Version: 8.0

Not Canadian or User FriendlyDifficult to navigate and find foods. No typeable search within brand names. I think I'll delete this app - again..Version: 8.0

It's okayWould be even better if you could select all items from a category before it went back to the daily overview. At present it's only possible to input one item at a time so it gets very slow if you need to input several items. It would be better if each item in each category had tick boxes next to them which could be checked and when finished all those checked items go into the final total..Version: 8.0

FunctionalTap n track is functional but relies on the discipline of the individual..Version: 7.2.1

Fix glitchWas great on my old iphone 4 but not on my iphone 7 due to burned calories being added no matter that's it's turned off. Would love it to be fixed and compatible with iwatch.Version: 8.0

Better if it was local...It's good because it keeps you conscious of what you are eating, but because there are no NZ restaurants or brands and we don't know US ones, it's difficult to really know if you're correct... Otherwise better than others :).Version: 7.2.1

Great app, could use a few featuresUpdate: I downgraded my rating because the search function no longer works and the fix that another reviewer mentioned does not fix it. Really annoying to have to thumb-type every single entry. Browsing works but the database is extremely limited. I use this app often to keep track of carbs and calories and protein. It's a great app. It would be better if I could scan items and if I could import food nutrition from another app. Lately, my food search started coming up 0, even for common foods. Someone here commented on how to fix that so I'll try. The database still needs updating. I couldn't find any nutrisystem foods or protein drinks. But it does give you a chance to manually enter. That is why a scanning feature would be good -- the database could automatically be updated accurately..Version: 8.0

Changed my review after discovering a much better appNEW REVIEW: OK, but limitations below and not a patch on MyFitnessPal, which does exactly the same thing, with a much larger database, much more nutritional information, a website that you can sync to, and for free!!!! OLD REVIEW: You can't find everything on sale in the uk, but there is a fair amount, and you always have the choice of entering the item yourself, copying the nutrition info from the packet. Once entered it is there to be selected again. Doing this could be easier though, hence the 4 stars (now changed to 3) and not 5. Also, it does need a decimal point when you enter custom foods. Thats a bug i think. Still, this is the (second) best app in it's class that I have tried..Version: 0

Mostly greatI can no longer save items that I want to add to my favorites. Now it gets stuck on the screen where you put the check mark to categorize the food and I have to shut down my iPhone 5s to get off of that screen. And it still doesn't save the item. This would save so much time if the app would let me save my foods like it used to. I have an extensive library of favorites and it save me time. Very annoying..Version: 8.0

Terrible appI don't use metric but had to plug all info in metric before converting to imperial units. Worse, when I try to add food to what I have eaten that day it says push the + sign well there is no plus sign on the screen. Waste of four bucks..Version: 7.2.1

Missing vital aspectsIt's ok in that it records things easily although the food search is poor. My main problem is that you can't add a decimal point when entering data. I've asked them about this and apparently they are aware but it's 'not in the pipeline' to be remedied. Good idea but poor follow through..Version: 8.0

Not greatDon't like the new version. It's become much slower, especially when searching for foods. Still hate the fractioned portion sizes (1/16, 1/8 etc). Animated dock is listed in the features but it doesn't exist. And when will this app finally support multitasking?? The only reason I keep using it is because it's too hard to re-enter all my custom foods in some other app..Version: 6.5

Recent updatePreviously used and recommended T&T for past 4 years. Biggest issue with update is that the food search no longer seems supported, can not find foods. Have abandoned and replaced T&T for a more user friendly app. Shame..Version: 8.0

Not happy at all with tap n trackTap and track used to work great. Not so much anymore. It can't connect to the server so I'm not syncing with anything. Aside from that there buttons missing and screens I went to and there was no way back. I deleted again..Version: 8.0

Tap n trackApplication would be better for US users because not much New Zealand or Asian foods which are relevant to us. There are also alot of US restaurants that we don't have in NZ so they are irrelevant to us. You can still find a lot foods but you often have to improvise and use close alternatives to the foods you want to track. Also its a bit tricky to delete foods. Still okay app though..Version: 7.2.1

Used to be goodThis version's search function returns no results which makes it impossible to add new foods to your food journal. I wish it hadn't been updated..Version: 8.0

What about me!I am searching...searching...searching...(and apparently so are others, from what I read)...for a calorie-counting application that suits Australian diet-watchers. So far...nix, nil, nada. We Aussies need kilojoules, not calories; kilograms, not pounds or stones; Wheatbix, not Sugar Flakes Whatever; 100% juices, not Popper Fruit Drinks; Muli-grain, Black Rye and Wholemeal, not WonderSoft and Sourdough bread; Big Rooster & Dad's Meat Pies; and fresh vegetable and fruits rather than pre-packed and processed stuff. Some clever soul is going to produce just such an application and clean up!.Version: 0

CanadianizeI use the app every day, but get frustrated by the fact that my favorite Canadian restaurants and some grocery store items are sply not listed. Also I would like to know why the exercise calories are always more than what the exercise machine says..Version: 0

Tap n TrackGood app made better since the upgrades. Seems a bit limited for the NZ market and I end up adding a lot of "sorta, kinda like what I'm looking for, but not quite" foods to my food log..Version: 7.2.1

Good, by no mean perfectUpdate after 1 week of use, downgrading to 2 stars for inaccurate data: It shows 0 cholesterol on all items, but restaurant web sites show cholesterol in the same foods. Bug maybe? I sent an email to the developer and got an auto "thanks for your input" response. The summary information should show totals of all contents that are available. I see no way to do that. Has this app been abandoned by the developer??? It hasn't been updated in over a year and a half and has obvious bugs that need to be addressed. Original thoughts: Very good app but there is a bit of a learning curve on using it. Saving a food to Favorites is more difficult/restrictive than it needs to be. It doesn't show cholesterol in the logs, which is one thing a lot of people need/want to track. In all, it is very useful, but there is room for improvement. I would recommend this app if you want to track calories, weight and exercise..Version: 8.0

Deleting in favour of Daily BurnI've been using a few calorie counters for the past week (Tap & Track, Daily Burn and Spark People) to compare. Daily Burn's free app looks the best I think, and has by far the best database for everyday UK foods (some with photos), though don't know if it has them stored or uses the web. DB is more clunky to record more than one unit of food (e.g. two biscuits), and doesn't have quite such an instantly easy-to-see daily calorie meter, but does also graphically show other food groups. Spark People is also free, but apart from the home screen looks a bit untidy to me. It does have some graphs breaking down food groups. Tap & Track is reasonably nice to use, but just doesn't have the database of UK foods. Simple things like breakfast cereal and a cup of tea don't exist, and I don't really want to have to input their nutritional info every time..Version: 0

Used to be great but syncing stopped working and developers won't write backThis used to be my favorite calorie counting app but the syncing with their website has always been buggy. Whenever I write them they tell me to delete the app and reinstall, but I always end up losing some of my data. The last time I tried reinstalling, now that won't even fix the problem and the developers won't write me back anymore. I suspect they've stopped developing the app. Poor customer service! I guess I'll have to to find another calorie counting app. So sad to let this one go. Too bad!.Version: 8.0

Missing Some Important ItemsIt would be great to be able to 'on the fly' create your own meals or items and then be able to save and access them. IE create your oatmeal cereal 1/2 c oatmeal, then add skim milke then add a nectarine and save these three items as Bob's Oatmeal... or create your own salad with feta and chick peas and call it Bobs CP salad... or Spanish Omlette with 3 eggs, one with a yolk and two with just the whites then call it Janes Spanish Omlette... then each day you want to add this item as a meal...it's easy. Adding it on the fly using the calc would be great but this program doesn't access the database when you do this, you have to figure this out the totals for 'your meal' on paper and then add the items manually putting in the calories and protions... Why doesn't it access the database so creating your own items is easy? For me this defeats the purpose of the software. Also, way to many items in the database and not enough of the basics that most people who are training use....Try to add Oatmeal.... good old plain oatmeal and you can't find it. I eventually found a 'package' of instant oatmeal... How about steel cut oats, how about quaker large flake oats... Was looking for some mixed beans last night... I gave up. How many people on calorie restricted diets or who are seriously training eat packaged refined foods? I hope the above feature will be added at some point. This could be a great program with a little more tweaking by the developers but at the present time it's a bit time consuming and cumbersome..Version: 0

Could be betterWorks great short term, but long term (more than a week) it's a flop. Just too hard to use, with too small database and no 'fast entry' button. Needs much more work. Not worth the price..Version: 0

No good for NZCompletely hopeless for New Zealand it should be explained foods only for America.Version: 0

Just what I was looking forI actually upgraded my Nano just to run an app like this. (Pathetic, huh?) I could not find an acceptable one for my Blackberry and this does the job perfectly. 4 stars only because food selection could still be bigger. Update... Still like it a lot, but needs work adding recipes & with memory management. A little buggy but hoping for improvement. Oct2011 update... Usability and food selection much improved. Near perfect except for frequent crashes on my v4 Touch. Overall, GREAT app! 2014 Nov 21 update - sorry to do it after all these years, but I have to downgrade the current version. Search database function no longer works without a kludgy workaround, adding a good to favorites no longer works and takes the app into a dialog from which there is no return. Syncing the app with the base website is intermittent. I have a lot of years invested in this app, but I am going to start looking for alternatives. Sorry, old friend!.Version: 8.0

Good but could be so much betterThis is a neat app that makes it easy to track your calorie intake and so keeps you focussed on what you’re eating. I saw results after the first week and have been turning down chocolate biscuits and cake rather than see the calories coming off my daily allowance. I like it but what’s frustrating is the food database and the lack of ability to create meals. For example, some basic foodstuffs either aren’t there (like semi-skimmed milk without added vitamin A) or aren’t in user friendly quantities (A can select lettuce by the leaf but tomatoes are by the cup) or I don’t understand (I want chicken breast but can only find ‘chicken broilers’!). Why there are entries for baby food is totally beyond me. It’s like a food database has simply been copied to it without much thought. Also, I’d like to be able to create my own meals by adding the components to make a salad, for example, instead of having to add the individual items each day. I would also like to see the option of everything in grams. I recommend it but if you’re from the UK it takes some getting used to.Version: 0

Disappointed NZlanderNew to this ap - just purchased and agree that it does not represent the NZLand market very well. Also difficult to really figure calorie content of a homemade recipe such as muesli. Really think this ap is still limited in what it offers..Version: 7.2.1
