Freak...and to think you can't get this game on any of the other platforms. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!.Version: 0

Just as I rememberI was fascinated by this game in the arcades back in the 80's, but gave up playing it because I would lose so fast and I had only so many quarters... now at last I can see how it ends. Don't play the "Cadet" level, it gives all the moves away and yes can be beaten in 5 minutes. The Captain and Ace levels are truer to the arcade version with the flashing hints and "chime" when your move is accepted- spend the time to figure out the correct moves yourself and the game will provide hours of fun. Just a couple of things: - Are the "screen blanks" between scenes really necessary with this version? Or are they merely an effort to faithfully reproduce the arcade game that had to "pause" to find the right scene on the laserdisc? It would be nice to make them optional. - A way to jump ahead of scenes you've already completed would be good. All in all, thanks for a great trip back to my high school years. Bring on Dragon's Lair!.Version: 0

A childhood dream come trueWhen I was a kid I dreamed of this moment. I used to play dragon's lair and ask my dad if he thought it was ever possible they'd make the game for our atari etc. He explained why it would never be possible because of the laserdisc technology that these extra big cabinets relied on to function. I thought of him 10 years ago when I played the 3DO version, and I think of him today when I play this perfect rendition of Space Ace, recreated in the palm of my hand. Thanks guys, for bringing this one home..Version: 0

BrilliantSo pleased that this was released on iPhone and it's good to see that it's the Arcade quality version. Worth the money..Version: 0

StunningThis is gaming gold. I'm far too young to have played the original (15), but all the people moaning about 'the young generation today expecting easy games' and how anyone not schooled in laserdisk gaming would hate it inspired me to prove them wrong. Great decision. It plays out like one huge QTE (Quick Time Event), like those seen in Resident Evil 4 on consoles. You don't actually control Ace/Dexter, just press the correct command to keep the animation flowing. It's still excellent fun and keeps you on the edge of your seat, watching for flashes on the screen to direct you next move, knowing you've half a second to respond. Once you get a rhythm going, it's pretty epic stuff being played out on the beautiful animation. It's also more satisfying to play than Dragon's Lair as the action runs a lot smoother in Space Ace, along with pretty funny banter between Kimberley and Ace ('call me Ace, huh?') =D. Although I don't see what the fuss about difficulty is, with direction flashes all you need is a quick mind and you shouldn't struggle too much. Don't try Ace difficulty unprepared though... Only problem is you can't watch the game through to see the stunning animation, a feature included in Dragon's Lair (so it will probs come in an update). Brilliant. 10/10.Version: 0

Old School awesome.Only two quibbles: needs the ability to watch your game. I usually get killed because I'm watching the animation. And the controls could be a little less transparent, they're a little hard to see. Possibly just a preference setting? Otherwise great retro arcade game!.Version: 0

Good fun then, good fun now.So maybe a few scenes have been left out but to be honest...after 27 years since my Arcade stint, I don't remember ALL of them. The game is being sold on nostalgia power but the devs did a good job with it. The price is a little steep (if you compare with Dragon's Lair) but we all know that we've wasted more money for less entertainment at some point in our lives. It's still good, mindless fun. A few bugs, that SHOULD be solved to help jump to 5 stars 1.) the game Icon is blurry...makes me think I forgot my contacts again - trivial, maybe but it's MY dime. 2.) if you turn off the game in mid-play then resume later, the controls won't appear on the screen the first time around. You will 'die' and on replay, the controls will re-appear. This doesn't happen if you've finished a level (scene) and switched off..Version: 3.1.4

80s classicBrings me back to my childhood days. If you were around in the days of Dragons Lair and Super Punchout, you would really appreciate this game..Version: 0

Space AceAlthough I didn't play this game in the arcade when I was younger, it really shines on the iPod Touch/iPhone! It is a bit buggy (I experienced some lockups which required me to reset my iPod Touch), but it works well enough. Setting the controls to large helps, as I was able to finish the game within an hour after I downloaded it. Try playing it on the higher difficulty settings for a real challenge! It can better if a bug patch get released. I'm waiting on Dragon's Lair! An excellent game despite a few minor bugs..Version: 0

Great... But..It looks like the game is really fast...Some scenes are cut... In some place where you to not activate your power the scene continue as if you did it and then skips to the part where you didn't ... Great game overall.... But I'd rather stick with my CD-I version.Version: 0

Space aceNeed to wrk with backbone controller.Version: 5.0

Wow!Best game I have purchased yet. Arcade perfect port.. I can't beleive I'm playing this game on my phone..Version: 0

Space AceJust how I remembered it. Got to be over 25 yrs old! A classic that works well on the iPhone. I mastered this as a kid and spent all my money playing it.....top stuff.Version: 0

Ah the good ol daysThis game is a dirrect port from the original game. Nothing has been changed, or left out. I probably spent enough on this game, I could have bought the Iphone, that I'm using to write this review. I've read a few reviews, where people complain that this game is too short. Simple solution, turn off the unlimited lives. This is a true clasic, and was a revolutionary game, In it's day. Now, bring on Dragon's Lair..Version: 0

Happy camperI thought both this and Dragon's Lair were off the chain. Ever since I was a kid I've wanted to play those games and when heard it was on the IPhone I just could not wait, DL was very cheap and I was fine with paying 5 buck for Space Ace think about much you used to pay in quarters. Long time ago I played the weird Snes version so I was very happy to realize it was just like DL but much more hectic. I did have one issue with one of the reverse stages that had the capture cylinders with going left to go right, it was only on Captain mode though, other then that perfect..Version: 0

Arcade perfectThis is my all time favourite arcade game :-) all the scenes ARE there in the arcades the scene where ace talks to kimmy while flying was only for the cadet level. I love the quality of the footage and gameplay is spot on to my arcade machine. Just wish Cliff Hanger could be made.Version: 3.1.4

Absolutely Freak'n Awesome! 8-)I have always been fascinated by Dragon's Lair I & II and Space Ace. The first time I saw them in the arcades, I was in awe and shock at how cool it was to see an interactive cartoon!! Back in the 80's, there was simply nothing else like them and the same applies today! Plus, Don Bluth is a cartoon genius and his style in animation is highly recognizable and unique. Watch any of his movies and you'll see what I'm talking about. Any game that Digital Leisure ports to the iPod is a sure bet and the quality is bound to be top notch!! The graphics are as sweet as ever and the sound is just as great!! I highly recommend this and it's worth the price, especially if you're new to these old-school laserdisk games! Trust me, this ain't no Pacman... ;) I can't wait to download the rest!! Thanks Digital Leisure!! I'm take'n Ace to the beach!! 8-p.Version: 0

THIS IS STILL GREATI USED TO PLAY THIS AS A KID AND IT'S SILL FUN NOW.Version: 3.1.4

A great game but needs some commentsI loved this game a whole lot and it's nice to finally get to play it. I just have two small nit picks. There's no music in the menu screen unlike Dragon's Lair and this feels more like a mistake than intentional, please put music in it. Second, button prompts are only avalible in Cadet mode, making captain and ace mode unwinable, please at least consider putting in prompts in captain mode or at least make it an option like in Dragon's lair so I can learn the sequences faster..Version: 0

I'm ten years old againI'm ten years old again... Except this time I didn't have to wait in line, didn't spend twenty bucks worth of quarters in a single day, and actually finished the game! I beat the game on Cadet mode in a day, but three days into Ace mode and I'm still on the fourth stage. Well worth the five bucks..Version: 0

AWESOME and Great Controls !!!Well, I have to copy/paste my Dragon's Lair review into this one, because they are both as good. "Don't know why anyone is complaining about the controls. They are dead on. This game is all about instinct and memorization. You can't wait for the screen to flash to input the command, you have to do it at the same time or before. Just memorize the path through trial and error. Also, I prefer the large controls option though. The graphics are excellent and the game's reaction to correct or missed inputs is surprisingly great. I remember that was a big problem in other incarnations that would deliver slowdown, but not here. This one is even better than it's Bluray counterpart, which I also have. I recommend this game to anyone. I have already beaten this (iPhone and Bluray) Dragon's Lair (iPhone and Bluray) and Dragon's Lair 2: Time Warp (Bluray) numerous times each and have come to a point where I can do it without dying, not even once. I still can't believe that I have this game on my iPhone. I've loved it since I saw Dragon's Lair and this when I was a little kid in 1984 and was blown away thinking how amazing it was to see a cartoon which I could control. The story and animation have stood the test of time and they are as great as ever. I can never get tired of this game. Now, where is my portable Dragon's Lair 2: Time Warp???".Version: 3.1.4

BrilliantSadly I never got chance to play this in the arcades but after all these years I have finaly got to play it, I'm certainly not disapointed and it's worth the wait and the money by far..Version: 0

MemoriesI had to comment. This brings back so much memories. From spending time in the arcade and dropping quarter upon quarter to memorize and beat this game. Don Bluth had an other winner in "Dragon's Lair.", which I'm sure you're getting alot of request for. So, please count my vote in for it. Space Ace was the stuff. Great animation, good storyline, easy to learn, but hard to master game control and play. I was there for hours. I love it, now that I have it and can play at my leisure. Thank Don Bluth and the App Store. Bring on Dirk, the Dragon has the Princess and we need to help him save her..Version: 0

Wow great gameAwesome game, better controls than arcade version I reckon.Version: 0

Love it.A must buy for all fans. So much better then the Dragons Lair releases by EA. buy this one it's fantastic, works well and the controls are great. A real Trip down memory lane..Version: 3.1.4

Almost exactly like the originalI actually got to rent a machine for my birthday when I was a kid. (yep,I was spoiled rotten). The memories came flooding back when I bought this for my iPod touch. A few things. A lit of the original games timing issues are still there and the arcade version had the same levels (cadet, captain, ace). This version replicates the experience exactly minus the physical joystick & button. The patterns &quirkey timings are all there. Thank you for making a great port of an arcade classic..Version: 0

An arcade legendI would have to agree with piers mearns on the fact that pauses in the video sequences are a bummer when the original game would run seamlessly. That aside, I owned the original for the CDi but when that bust up I managed to get a copy for the PS2 which happened to be a really bad copy of a really great game, kinda like dragons lair for the ios(or what I believe from the reviews anyways).just kinda impossible to play. However space ace for the ios is the closed version I've played to the original and they've put in a couple of extra things like extra difficulties and stuff to make it a little better. It looks and feels brilliant. Unlike any other game from the AppStore.o believe that this may run smoother on iPhone 3GS or iPhone4 however so it's getting 5 stars. Nice work..Version: 0

Damned near perfect!Stumbled across this and nearly wet my britches with excitement. Having waited nearly 25yrs to recapture THE best arcade game of my youth, I have simply NOT been disappointed with this effort. It looks picture-perfect and has an easy mode (much reduced 'path' and movement guide) to get you back upto speed then on to the real deal. If I have 1 criticism, it is the d-pad for the moves. It often feels that the move is not registered until lifting your finger, but I have a suspicion that it's as much to do with where I'm pressing on the pad in all the excitement, than a fault. I hear dragons lair is on it's way so can't wait for that, but in the meantime, all the old feelings of "just one more go..." are there - only this time I don't have to feed the slot with coins!! Thank you so much. Now, if only the app store where to sort/search better, with such high ratings, this would be found by others not specifically searching in hope.Version: 0

Awesome!!Great conversion. Just like the original!.Version: 3.1.4

Never heard of it till nowIt seems to me like a almost "TapTap" themed game but that's not a bad thing. The Cadet option is you're bet to start out with as it shows you when to touch arrows or yellow button as this game relies on timeing. Captain & Ace you can try but I found it hard cause did not know what to touch, as you get better you could move on to these levels. Some may find "Cadet" too short but I would still use it so you can get hang of it, if you don't you could find your self getting short with it. This game is a Interactive cartoon to me but it's the first here, I enjoyed it. My things were that there was no auto rotate feature, no puase but other wise pretty good game..Version: 0

Cool blast from the pastI wasn't even a newborn when this game originally released but I remember seeing it as a kid during the late '80s/early '90s in arcades but never played it. It's crazy how a couple decades later, you can play what used to be in a large cabinet right in your hands...on a phone no less! Needless to say this game is classic and fun - a different type of fun, mind you. It's about twitch gameplay pre-CoD and quick reaction time. Although you'll die a lot on the normal and hard difficulties, Space Ace can be beaten on easy mode in about 5-7 minutes so it's brief. I wish there was a "movie" mode where you could just watch the movie; that'd be cool..Version: 3.1.4

Old school fun!!If you grew up on Dragons Lair and Space Ace you'll "get" this game. Younger gamers might not enjoy the ambiguous controls but if you're old school, see how your parents wiggled a joystick!.Version: 0

Love this gameI had this game in the Amiga 500 back in the day. This version is much better. Brings back all the memories..Version: 0

Great Game!I couldn't wait to get my hands on this game. Being a fan of Don Bluth's work and Dragon's Lair and Space Ace in particular, I was practically foaming at mouth when I saw this in the app store. And having played the game on medium and hard settings for the better part of three weeks I can honestly say that it was worth every penny. While not a game in the more traditional sense, it's a must-have for anyone who loves animation. That being said, the game is not without its problems. My biggest complaint is that for most of the game you have less than a second to respond, which means that success in the game depends more on trial-in-error than reacting to the environment. Also, when playing on hard difficulty, on some areas you must play through a mirror-image of the level you just finished. That's totally lame and breaks the continuity of the game. Hopefully, that will be fixed in an update. Can't wait for Dragon's Lair!.Version: 0

Ace is back!!Glad the app is now available for iOS7 - it's a top game that plays like a movie - fun to enjoy and for others to watch you complete it..Version: 4.0.2

No problems!Sound works great! Arcade controls are nice. Wii console sell a great version of these games also for play on your big screen. So much fun to play this again!.Version: 5.0

Is it still good ?Space ace was at the time, a breakthrough in arcade games that used a new format called a laser disc and was the next big thing after dragons lair. This is the full game and who would have thought it could run on the ipod touch ? Using full motion animation from Don Bluth, creator of the secret of nimh and american tail, you choose at key points the action to take that either advance the game to the next stage or lead to certain death. Perfect recreation of the original title with only one small niggle. Some of the scenes are missing from the 3 stages of difficulty, namely on the way to the starbase on captain and ace, you miss the talk scene with kimy and on the cadet stage you miss the escape scene from the exploding starbase but still, it's great to have this classic in your pocket. So, in summery, just be aware that this game is more of a very fast paced choose your own adventure affair that plays out as you watch it and it can be very difficult working out the inital moves but once you have those moves memorised, it can get repetitive as each play through follows the same moves verbatim, over and over again..Version: 3.1.4

Retro HeavenWhile it's missing some original content, this is a great portable adaptation of the arcade original otherwise. Pretty much the sci-fi version of Dragon's Lair, I dropped a lot of quarters into playing this game as a kid and never beat it. More of a game based on pre-determined patterns than personal strategy, this game still delivers, and I am thrilled to be able to carry it with me everywhere I go. Worth investing in, but only 4 out of 5 stars base on the price and the missing content. This one is a classic!.Version: 3.1.4

A frantic and fun adventureIs it dated? Yes. Are you really controlling the hero? No. Is it worth the money? Holy crap, yes! Full of adventure and incredibly fast-paced, and yes, still as frustrating as I remember. At least there's a dufficulty level with hints! The animation is filled with detail, and I find the dialogue to be really campy--for example, I LOVE it when Space Ace says,"Oh, far out!" What kid didn't wish that, if given the chance, he could energize and turn into an action hero? It's awesome..Version: 0

Great memories.. But...I love playing this game. I remember playing hours and hours and hours.. at the arcade. I was the first to beat the game (and Dragon's Lair) in my local arcade. I noticed a bug though. When in the middle of a game (well almost right at the end) my phone rang and it kicked me out so I could take a call. When done with the call, the game loaded up automatically but the game state was reset so I now have to start over. When exiting the game in my own, I can always get back to where I left off. Pleas fix this. Other than the bug, it is a great game an is worth the money to be able to take a tripdown memory lane!.Version: 0

Ahhhh memoriesThis was my fav game in the arcades. You could not get me off it. If you were from the 80's and played arcades then you'd remember this one. I have it for pc and now my iPhone. Highly recomended to buy it. Blizzardnz.Version: 0

I've been taken back in timeThank you very much for this faithful Laserdisc reproduction. Taken back to my video arcade days when I spent way to much time an money trying to solve this game and it's older brother... Dragons Lair. Please, please, please port Dragons Lair, you'll have won me for life..Version: 0

80s NostalgiaWell This game takes me right back I Used to Spend a Fortune in The Arcade Playin this This App Is Exactly The Way I Remember it The Gameplay consits of left right up down and fire moves to be executed at the right time (You Get A Hint) If You Dont Complete The Move You Lose A Life Beautiful Animation and a Highly Polished App Great For Older Gamers Like Myself But Im Not Sure It Would Keep The Younger Generation Happy (It Can be Completed In Less Than 15 Mins) Excellent Retro App,Would Love To See Dragon's Lair Also.Version: 0

The best game EVERSo this really helped me with finding one of my childhood games, ITS SO COOL and I really want others to play it. It takes practice to play this game but I played it for 3 years and its SO MUCH FUN.Version: 5.0

Space aceNow it has been updated it's 100% arcade moves let's hope they do the same for dragons lair..Version: 0

Blast from the past best version yet!Classic Game done amazingly well on the iPod Touch/iPhone. Of all the versions I have played throughout the years this has to be about the best running version out there. Be warned for those that have never played an animated laserdisc game from the 80's, this is a short game that has you memorize moves to an animated cartoon. For people out there that fed quarter after quarter into these machines when they were younger it is a nostalgic trip down memory lane. I am a huge fan of Don Bluth's laserdisc games and look forward to Dragon's Lair and Dragon's Lair 2: Time Warp. My only gripe is it is missing the roller skates section of the game..Version: 0

Cool game! The only time I ever played this game was on the snes and it was very different, graphics were very bad and it played more like a side scrolling game, I'm glad I found this because i got a chance to play it the way it was originally made. I really like this game, the animation and charm are amazing, it gives me a drive to progress and keep coming back to it. A lot of people have mentioned that their are pauses at the end of sequences that wasn't in the originals but I don't know any better because this game is virtually new to me and it has bothered me one bit. I think even people that have never played this game(like me)will enjoy it.Version: 3.1.4

Simply amazing!!!I've only played the Dragon's Lair games but never Space Ace. Since I downloaded it, I fell in love and amm highly addicted to it. Controls are just perfect and gameplay is sweet. I highly recommend this app to all ages, for the price, it's captiveness and the fact that it's a classic. Keep up the great work!.Version: 0

Fabulous! Brings me back to my youth!A fabulous game. Really brings me back to my youth! The graphics are awesome - just like watching an animated film!! 5 stars!!! Well worth the cost..Version: 0

Arcade PerfectThis is pretty much the laser disc version in the palm of your hand. The only thing that can be improved is the lag or blank screen between stages. This isn't a massive issue seeing as the arcade was like this but it would be cool to run fluently between scenes just a little touch up,I hope dragons Lair 1 & 2 come as 1 package & HURRY UP with Mad Dog McCree I'm hanging for that game I loved it at the arcades. Nice work with Space Ace..Version: 0

Definitely worth it for nastalgia's sakeJust downloaded this app and love it. Just like the original from way back! Actually, this version seems to look even better (clearer and more vibrant) than the original arcade version. I forgot how SHORT the game actually is though. :( I literally finished it on Cadet level in about 10 minutes. I'm sure it will take longer on the harder levels, but still, it was over way too quick. This game is awesome--can't wait for Dragon's Lair to come out now. I would have given 5 stars, but $5 is too much for such a short game. $2.99 would have been more appropriate. Still great though..Version: 0

Space Ace on an iPod Touch? Awesome! The video is 100% flawless, as far as I can tell. I can't see any video artifacting at all, but at such a small screen size, who would notice. The game plays at the same speed as the arcade and the endless lives feature allowed me to finally get to the end (I played on Cadet). BUT... I spent so much time watching for the onscreen flashes and trying to keep up with them, I couldn't really appreciate the game, itself. In other words, the control scheme made playing the game more of a task of "speed Simon" than a game I could enjoy as I was playing it. It's still worth $5 easy... I just wish I could've enjoyed the game more while playing it. An iPod Touch collector's piece for sure!.Version: 0

AwesomeBrings back memories. Great app. On the look out now for dragons lair:) dno.Version: 0

Looks awesome, plays OKExcellent port over to the iPhone. Everything looks crisp, and sounds great. Slightly prolonged glitch when you lose a life, and the controls are a bit insensitive. The small controls are OK, but the large controls are pointless as you can't see what's going on on the main screen. Other than that, this is a great nostalgic game, and definitely a 'Wow!' app. Install this and show to your iPhone-less friends to make them jealous, then fight to get your iPhone back when they start saying 'Just one more go' for the 15th time!.Version: 0

Awesome conversion!Just like I remember in the arcade! Any chance of getting Dragon's Lair 1 & 2, Firefox, Don Quixote and Mad Dog Macree on iPhone?.Version: 0

ClassicI remember spunking all my hard earn pocket money on this game when it was in the arcades as well as dragons lair hope that's out soon but this is almost arcade perfect.memorys.Version: 0

Space Ace is backPerfect port in fact, too perfect as the the software emulation even makes the same mistakes the original arcade game made when accessing scenes from the laserdisk! Has anyone else noticed this? Get this game! Period! Dragon's Lair can't be hard to find!.Version: 0

BrilliantI remember playing this on the Amiga and loved it then. I also remember that it is all down to timing..Version: 0

Cool RetroAwesome game from an ex imagineer at Disney Don Bluth — so cool Disney style all over it — dropped a lot of quarters on the real one back in the day.Version: 5.0

Needs better controls...Very impressive. Takes me to 1983 when I used to have a crowd of people watching over my shoulder. However, please please update this and fix the controls. Nudging a joystick is one thing but prodding at the screen when you have 1/8th of a second to respond makes no sense. Unplayable in it's current guise, provide a gesture drag detection and this will be perfect..Version: 0

This app is fantastic; an absolute *must have*!!!(insert raving review here) Now, just download the app; serious, it's that good! This is a *perfect* translation from the original arcade version, and in HD. The colors are brilliant; the quality is top notch. Don Bluth, personally, thank you thank you THANK YOU for taking the time and trouble to get this app onto the iPhone. I can-not-wait for Dragon's Lair, Dragon's Lair 2: Time Warp, and any other games you wish to release. Cheers, cheers, and cheers!!!.Version: 0

GreatAwesome conversion of a classic game. I have fond memories of this on my Philips CD-i. Great graphics. Decent controls. Thoroughly enjoying it..Version: 3.1.4

Faithful but missing a few partsThis is a very faithful reproduction of the original arcade version and even has difficulty levels which is a very nice feature. My only problem with the game is there's a few missing scenes such as the roller skating in the maze and the snakes with the crushing machine chapters are 100% missing. Also, the opening frames from the floating platform part is missing. Besides a few missing scenes it is the same as the original version. I wonder why they cut a few scenes, wish they had not. Still a good buy for fans of the game..Version: 0

Thank youThankyou so much you have brought back so many happy memories for me.I haven't played this game for 25 years or so and my days of standing in my local arcade were some of the best, again THANKYOU..Version: 0

This is fantastic!Fast paced, just like the original arcade version. The animation and audio is great and the controls are super responsive. Play Dragon's Lair first and your reflexes will be primed and ready for this nostalgic space romp. Man, I love this !.Version: 0

Awsome! Thanks for still being around after all these years. i never did get to play it all the wat thru in the arcade..Version: 0

Absolutely AMAZING!!!!!Fantastic Game! The best £2.99 I've ever spent! This type of game really suits the iPhone... Please release Dragon's Lair and Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp soon.Version: 0

Digital Leisure rulesTo sologigolos below: the roller skating section is in there. I've played through it many times. It's all in there it just depends on if you're playing cadet captain or ace. To dirkthebroken below: EA made the dragon's lair port not these guys so go tell EA like the rest of us have and watch your pleadings fall on deaf ears. When iOS 4.0 came out it killed Dragons Lair and EAs subsequent "FIX" killed it even more. This was months ago. EA doesn't care. Dragon's Lair LLC on the other hand, were and continue to be on top of things and have kept Space Ace going strong. Kudos to Dragon's Lair LLC. One of the best ports of this game ever except maybe for the Daphne emulator. Now, where the heck is Dragon's Lair 2? Add that and you have a confirmed instant buy from me..Version: 0

What a blast from the pastAs soon as I saw this as an available download I jumped on it immediately without reading a single review. I wasn't disappointed, but there are clearly some fixes that need to be addressed to warrant 5 stars. For one the control buttons are placed in a way that makes it not only difficult to press correctly, but worse, causes you to situate your fingers over much of the screen taking away some of the viewing pleasure, as the graphics are in themselves off the hook and the transfer from laser disk is by far almost perfectly ported to the Iphone. Change the position of the controls so that they are all centrally located, say across the top of the screen, then I would give it 5 thumbs up. All in all this is one of my all time favorite games and hope to see Dragon's Lair offered here too in the near future. Thanks for the memories.!!!.Version: 0

USE LARGE CONTROL SETTING.As many users have said, the controls are nearly impossible to use. I read similar comments in the reviews before I purchased it thinking that I would have a different experience. Nope!! I can't even successfully make the second move of the game. But after witing a review, I read more reviews. One person suggested using large control settings. It basically puts the directional arrows on the edges of the screen. This makes it much easier to play the game. I'm giving it 4 stars now (since it's still not perfect). :).Version: 0

All Aces...get it, Aces? Uhhh.....Never has there been such a perfect fit between a game and a platform. It's all there, flawlessly translated and looking GREAT. The picture quality is absolutely stunning and the gameplay is 100% intact - it even features the original "attract" animation. In fact, it's better than the original since it now featues a "hint system" in cadet mode, the option for unlimited lives, and it finally eliminates the disc reading delays that have hindered every version of this game - including the original. This is something I've been dreaming of since I was 12: the once "state of the art" game....on a handheld. This is indeed the future. This is the way you kick things off. Now, bring on Dragon's Lair!.Version: 0

RetrocadeThis game is totally awesome. It's challenging and yet it can be tweaked to be simple enough for my eight year step son to play. Can't wait for Dragon's Lair!!! I gave it four stars because I have only one complaint. I have am IPod Touch 1st generation with toggle switch for volume control. Since the game itself has no settings for volume, it's about loud enough to make you go deaf when you're wearing headphones. I would love the ability to be able to adjust in a future release!!!.Version: 0

Couldn't afford to play this game during the day....Now I can! Judging from the amount of time I died, I could have bought a car or something back in the day if I spent it on this game. This game brings back memories. This is the best LD type game in its era. More fast-paced than Dragon's Lair and Kimberly is hotter than the vapid Daphne. I personally think the animation is better as well. This should be getting 4 1/2 stars as I've encountered one glaring bug. On the 'flipped' levels, I've noticed that the input doesn't adjust correctly (e.g. the visual shows that you need to go right but you have to push left to pass). This happens RARELY though, but it is very annoying. All-in-all, I'm pleased by the animation quality as well as nostalgic factor..Version: 0

22 years later...Thank you so VERY much for making this game possible on the iPhone!! When I was 6 years old I remember this game at the Arcade and I watched the older kids play it!! I was SO amazed! As I got older i thought there was no chance ever seeing it again :(... Until now! 22 years later and ALMOST to the date and the Mac team have made it possible for the iPhone! Thanks again guys!.Version: 0

CoolioNostalgia ahoy!.Version: 0

Unbelieveable!!!Ok, shocked to see this as an app. And was worried about how bad it was going to be. Great job with the port!!! True to the arcade original on all skill levels. Yes I wasted thousands of quarters when this game was in the arcades, and loved it when you had a very large group of people standing just watching you play. The ones who say it is a stupid or bad game, that's ok, we old-school arcade gamers understand that you were just the jealous ones in the crowd because you couldn't do it yourself. For those that say there isn't enough control, true, but the game was never meant to be anything more than it is. You interact with the movie at key points to progress. You have to remember.. This game was a pioneer in the video game industry along with the dragon's lair series, they showed how video could be manipulated thru a users decisions. It paved the way! This game was out at a time when other arcade games were still using blocky sprites (q-Bert) as an example. If you can't appreciate how far ahead of it's time this game was, then those of us that do feel bad for you. Again, great port of the arcade, bring on dragon's lair and princess Daphne (move over princess toadstool.. Marios girl ain't got nothing on you!).Version: 0

Looks and plays just like the arcade. Please make the "move beeps" louder or adjustable in volume. This is one of my all time favorite games in the arcade, as well as Dragon's Lair 1 & 2. Very happy to have this on my iPhone and it looks and plays just like the original. My only concerns are the movement beeps and vibration. I can't hear the beeps for my movement and button actions, so I'm not sure if what I'm pressing gets registered or not. The vibration kind of works but I can't tell if it's accurate or not. I like how the the arcade version had loud beeps when moving or pressing a button correctly. You knew right away if your timing was right. I hope you can add that to an update or maybe make it adjustable in volume. Other than that, I really enjoy this app. Thanks for bringing it to the app store..Version: 0

ClassicIt's amazing that what was an awesome retro laserdisc game can work as an app and it does! Relive your youth for those old enough to remember..Version: 0

Arcade classicAnyone who loved the arcade original will love this. Those who are new to it - you don't control the main character directly, rather you control how the character must react to situations to keep the story flowing. Would love to see dragons lair :). Could do with being abit cheaper though!.Version: 0

Please Sir; can I have some more? This is AWESOME!!!!! I can remember the arcade machines of Dragon's Lair, Dragon's Lair II and this game, I will be eagerly waiting for the Dragon's Lair games. Outstanding work..Version: 0

Ace!Superb version!!!, cannot wait for Dragon's LAIR 1,2 & 3 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA LOL!!.Version: 0

Best version out thereDigital Leisure did a great job with this game. This is literally the best home port of the classic laserdisc game I've ever played. As a note to R2-JD who left a review previously stating that the "rollerskates" scene wasn't in this version, it is. However like the arcade, you have to be playing on "Ace" difficulty to see it (same with the "masher" sequence and the "checkerboard tunnel" sequence). All in all, an absolute blast/joy to play if you're a fan of 80's laserdisc games, and worth a look even if you've never played one..Version: 0

So glad to see thisWhat a great port of the arcade. Anyone who has enjoyed this as a kid will get a kick out of this. Like someone else mentioned though, why is the cutscene with "get me out of here" missing from the other two difficulty levels? Why the heck would you remove that from the versions that are the most like arcade play? This makes me wonder if anything else was omitted. Other than this very odd detail it's great to see this on the iPhone. Digital leisure please pay more attention to the small details, these games are quite important to many of us nostalgics, and the lack of original content, or inconsistancy is upsetting..Version: 0

Space Ace on my phone! This is pretty much as I remembered the arcade version (not that yucky pc one). I would recommend for anyone looking for nostalgia, but new players should know that the gameplay is very short compared to today standards. The only thing keeping this from 5 stars is presence of macro-blocking during some of the fast action scenes..Version: 0

Arcade-perfect conversion. Classic, beautiful and INCREDIBLY frustrating.I never thought I'd see the day when a Don Bluth laserdisc game could be ported to a mobile phone. This version of Space Ace brings back all the controls-punching, cabinet-hitting days of the past. It features the entire full-length game, together with attract sequence, and is transfered from the same picture master as the recent Blu-ray. It looks better than ever before, and has been converted from original 1.33:1 aspect ratio to fill the iPhone's entire screen. As a conversion, this gets an easy five stars. As a game however, it gets three. It's just such a frustrating experience to try and 'play' this game, just as it was on the arcade version. You'll have to have nerves of steel to avoid throwing your iPhone at the nearest wall every time you hear Borf say "You cannot win"...!.Version: 0

Perfect!! Can't wait for Dragon's LairFirst let me say that I've played this game in it's arcade form and many of the home versions. This is by far the best version I've seen. Those who are complaining about how short or easy it is need to remeber most of the other versions only gave you fague hints about what button to push instead of the glowing buttons in this version. Also you only had 3 lives in the arcade so if you're playing with infinite lives obviously it's easier to complete. Thank you so much for keeping these laser games alive!!.Version: 0

"You can not win!!!"Wow! I loved this game as a kid! Fantactic animation, challange & user interaction. Hopefully Dragon's Lair will hit this small screen as well!!.Version: 0

Old School Cool :)Brilliant game BUT how about an update with a HD game icon?? One of the only games on my phone with an old tired screen icon :(.Version: 3.1.4

Top gameGreat game well worth the money this really shows what the iPod can do.Version: 0

Space ace my number 1 gameFor me it the best game in the world... Back in the 80s i spent so much money playing this game ... I just love it 10/10 for this ...... I do i jist love it......Version: 0

Ace game! This game is great fun. It's really short though. If you ever played this back in the day, then it's worth it for nostalgia..Version: 4.0.2

Developers & Laser Disc Fans Please ReadWhat a great conversion you cannot fault it. On another note, it would be great to see Dragons Lair & my favorite game as a child Super Don Quix-ote on the iPhone..Version: 0

ImpressiveAmazing how they've converted a full laser disc game into a phone app. It's not the greatest game ever - chance are you'll finish it in less than 10 minutes - but for the price it's worth a punt..Version: 0

Space Ace....Wicked game, had this on my Amiga many moons ago. One thing that's up, same problem as there was back then (but can't be helped), thing is you can't see whats going on because you're too busy looking for the direction flashes. Top game still though....Version: 0

A classic!Must have for the classic gamers collection..Version: 4.0.2

Da space aceI take my word from the title this game is totally ace..£2.39.Version: 0

Awesome!!Brings back so many great memories! Can't wait for the other Don Bluth games, his work is awesome....Version: 0

WOW!!So much fun. Takes me back to my teenage years. Can't believe this is possible on the iPhone. =).Version: 0

Wot!!!£2.99 for pressing a directional button every 10 seconds after watching a load of motion pictures- NOT WORTH IT, however because this is a memory from my childhood that I don't want ruined by a badly made app- 4 stars, would of been 5 if it was made to fit the modern age..Version: 0

Philips cdi....I had this on the old philips cdi and loved it! Even better is that mad dog mcrae is coming and I can't wait! Needs to have a play through of whole cartoon upon completion as you concentrate on arrows not action! Well don't Devs, nice old school game! .Version: 0

Get this game now if you ever played the original Space Ace!!!The original Space Ace was released in 1984, back in the days when a roll of quarters would last all Saturday in the mall arcade. Don't you remember riding your bike to the mall just to hang out in the arcade? If you ever played this game before, it is the exact same game which can be played on your iphone or ipod touch. I can't wait for Dragon's Lair Thank you Don Bluth! (ex-Disney animator).Version: 0

Awesome classic laser disc game from the 80's!This game works & plays better than I had expected on the iphone. I had not seen or played this game in years and it brought me right back to my 80's arcade game playing youth. I used to have fun watching other (older more skilled) kids at the time play this game, just so I could watch all the awesome animated sequences. The laser disc game genre is definitely among my favorites for classic arcade games. Hopefully Bluth & Digital Leisure Inc. will port over Dragon's Lair I & II. I'd love to play those games again as well. Too awesome!.Version: 0

Looks GreatThis game is fantastic to look at and play. The only thing is, you can beat this game in under 20 minutes (Seriously). I read another guys post who gave it 1 star and he said the same thing. I thought he was exagerating. Don't get me wrong, the graphics, video, and quality of the port to the iPod/iPhone are 5 stars worthy. The $5 for 20 minutes is sort of steep. I was thinking around $3. Overall, the game is a great import from the classic arcade game that I blew tons of money on. Just like everyone else, I eagerly await the Dragons Lair games too! Those games were iconic back in the day and they were never really well adapted to the console platforms. For some reason, it works great on the iPod/iPhone. Its a good buy overall just too short..Version: 0

Step back in time........I remember playing this game all the way to the end. I can't believe I now can relive my arcade memories in the palm of my hand. Bring on 'Dragons Lair 2'..Version: 0

Not so Retro-Retro ReviewUsually, I don't take the time to review Apps, but I felt this one deserved credit where credit was due. Still here? Killer. So for what I came to learn was a game for the original Attari, I'm gonna have to say, old or not. This game throws down hard. It has stunning visuals, is challenging, multiple levels of difficulty, infinite life option for those not going for a score and just wanting to make it to the end in one piece, the orriginal commercial ad, and ds I have seen of yet, not buggy, laggy, or a battery killer. This game is more or less a reflex and timing based game where you're able to choose what happens through the actions you choose on the fly. Though the majority is linear, being a fast pace race for survival, there are hidden scenes and different ways to go, so replay value is there. Of all the games I've downloaded, this one has given me the most bang for my buck. If you're looking for a fun, challenging retro kickback, or wanting to pay homage to you're childhood (for the older generation) of blowing quarters at a local arcade, look no further. -Hijinx Lynx.Version: 0

Awesome! This is a great game! Amazing graphics, fast paced directional gameplay and funny with a solid 80's Sci-Fi atmosphere! Highly recommended!.Version: 4.0.2

GreatAs a 40 yr old I played this in the arcades, and it's amazing to see the full game on the iPhone!! Tricky to play, but really cool. We need Dragon's Lair as well, and maybe MACH3 ?.Version: 0

Great funThe controls are still as unforgiving as ever, but it's amazing that this arcade classic has been squeezed so well into the iPhone..Version: 0

AwesomeGame play is good, controls are OK, button could be a bit larger, scenes I remember breezing thru in arcade are wasting me, graphics are very good, looks exactly like I remember the original arcade game. I have been playing for approx 20 minutes and no glitches/crashes etc. I had played this game many times, never had the chance to beat it back in the day of arcades and roller rinks, but now...muhahahahah. Now if I could only find my Iron Maiden t-shirt and my denim jacket with rock band badges, my day would be complete. :) Bring on Dragon's Lair please..Version: 0

AwesomeWow this is so cool. I spent so much money on this game when I was young and never got to the end. Now I have and on my iPhone. How cool is that?.Version: 0

Childhood memories...When i was a kid i waz dirt poor and saw dragon,s lair i waz mezmerized by it , played it twice wth the only dollar i had, fell in love wth the cartoon action but it disapeared in2 the myst then i saw 2 other games by don bluth hurrah 2 u...those games were space ace & cliffhanger.i hope u put those on the apps departmnt sumtime soon !!! i ll buy those 2 and anything don ur the man bluth can imagine. thnxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx peace out cheerz john st.michael.Version: 0

Latest Version is the Full GamePrevious reviews stated that some scenes were missing, but I’m happy to say that all scenes are here - including the roller skating maze. It’s a fantastic trip down memory lane!.Version: 5.0

Great game ! Dragron's Lair next please !!Amazing to think your getting the full laser disk game on you iPod ! Great game and controls really suit the touch screen. Please bring out Dragon's Lair next !.Version: 0

Great app, just one PROBLEM...When you're playing the game and press the home button to exit, it automatically saves your progress so that the next time you play you can pick up right where you left off. The PROBLEM is that it DOESN'T SAVE YOUR DIFFICULTY SETTINGS. It puts you back at the same level, but at the easy or "caddet" difficulty setting, which basically tells you every move to make, taking all the fun out of it. I would've given this game five stars, which is what it deserves, but didn't because the developers NEED TO FIX THIS. Please come out with an update solving this problem, or I'll be using this app a whole lot less..Version: 0

A Fantastic ClassicThis is a great port of the original. Anyone can enjoy this amazingly fun and unique game because of the infinite lives option. It's a travesty that Dragon's Lair is not for sale in Canada..Version: 3.1.4

Extremely short gameThis has to be one of the shortest games I've played and can easily be done in under half and hour but having such fluid control over the outcome of a high quality cartoon is a great experience and shouldn't be missed. The touch controls could do with being a bit more forgiving. I know this might make it even easier but still, there are times when you are sure you hit the right spot at the right time and it just ends up being frustrating playing the same defeated clip over and over. I'd like to see Dragon's Lair ported too..Version: 0

Great but...Hurry up with the release of mad dog that your on about in upcoming releases, I thought it would be released by now, I've waited for too long now. Other than that space ace is awesome though I personally prefer dragon's lair..Version: 0

Simply Awesome! It always amazes me how Digital Leisure can release this game over and over. I think this game has been released on every system since the Amiga back in 1984 and they never fail to satisfy. This version of the game for the itouch and iphone looks , sounds and plays amazing. There is an even an easy mode, which displays all the moves on the screen. Again, props to Digital Leisure. You guys are awesome. Can't wait for Dragon's Lair and Dragon's Lair 2..Version: 0

A faithful portThis is a wonderful, faithful port of the original arcade classic. That said, the problems with the original remain. There's little flashing hints on-screen but it's inconsistent when you are supposed to press a button. Sometimes you have to press it right as you see the flashing hint, which is how it should be, but other times you have to press it before or after, and if you don't time it right it's a quick death. Easily frustrating. But bring it on! I like the game nonetheless and look forward to dragons lair!.Version: 0

Exellecent conversion of the arcade versionSpace Ace is a arcade classic. I was a master of dragons lair and space ace back in the day and spent many hours in the arcades. This version is top notch in quality and recommend this product. A suggestion to those of you thinking the game is too short or not watching the video and enjoying don bluths masterpiece, play on ace mode. No rush to the end, try to figure out the moves like we did back in the day. A better gaming experience. Update: ios4.2 works flawless. Unlike dragons lair, this works. Can we also get a retina friendly icon? The icon is quite blurry on iPhone 4s..Version:
