✓ Yay, Crostics!I love crostics, and I deeply appreciate the way filling in a square in either the clues or the quote automatically fills in the corresponding square in the other. I've bought most of the books available, and an enjoying them all at their differing difficulty levels. There are a couple of improvements I'd love to see: First, I'd love to have the ability to choose to skip over already filled squares in both clues and quotes. Second, I'd really love to have a space (perhaps one that could be toggled in and out of view?) that shows the first letters of the clue answers. On paper, I can sometimes get useful hints to clue answers by recognizing names or titles thus spelled out, but on my iPhone I absolutely can never see more than three of those letters at a time, which really doesn't work!.Version: 3.2

✓ Great game but too much US and religion!For anyone who enjoys words and vocabulary, this is a great game. I have had my money's worth from this app several times over, it is very well conceived, well put together and the question setters really know their stuff. I am in the UK and know quite a lot about other countries including the US but having never lived there and would not know the names of local TV hosts, stores and the like. My main criticism are the religious references that are in many of the Crostix. Ask me about rivers, mountains, presidents but please leave out biblical characters, lines from hymns and religious festivals!.Version: 2.6
✓ Great FunI love this app! I rarely get the paid versions of games, but this was well worth it. I used to buy Acrostic books at Barnes and Noble. This provides the same enjoyment but in an easy to use format. No pencil and eraser needed. Nice quotes, clever clues, puns. Its all fun..Version: 2.7

A very small number of the clues have answers that are region-specific & unfamiliar to a lot of people, but that's the fun of acrostics — you can work backwards to figure out the answer. ✓ At last! A new addiction!I used to love double-crosstics in the NYT and magazines, and I've been very happy to find and enjoy this app over the past year. Being online and able to easily delete a whole clue answer permits a much more fun approach to the puzzle than doing them in ink on paper. I too was frustrated that I seemed to be stuck in limbo for several weeks, unable to complete the purchase of Books Ten and Eleven, but just now I tried buying the Headlines for the first time. There was a new AppStore purchase agreement I had to OK, and then suddenly the floodgates opened for my other failed purchases in this App..Version: 3.2

✓ Great app but no updates for several years!I love this app, but there have been no new puzzles for several years. It's easy to use and most of the puzzles are information and fun to solve. I like the more complicated puzzles, not the gag lines. However, the Sherlock Holmes puzzles are extremely difficult. ✓ App updates but no new puzzlesThis is one of my favorite apps. It eliminates the drudgery and inevitable mistakes of copying between clues and quotes and leaves the pure fun of solving. ✓ Nicely done!This is an excellent implemention of the crostic puzzle. There are a good variety of puzzles, and the interface is intuitive. The screen layout and text size can be varied to suit the orientation of the iPad and the comfort of the viewer. Makes good use of the "pinch" capability to enlarge or reduce text and rearranges the screen automatically to best accommodate the new size. Great job! ✓ Great puzzle appI have always liked acrostics, and the automatic cross-filling in the Crostix app takes away the only negative of this sort of puzzle. ✓ About The New BookHi, all. It's Brian, the developer. It looks like I set up the application so that it only checks for new puzzles every 30 days, so even though you have upgraded, and the puzzles are there in the application, it doesn't realize it. Yes, that's pretty stupid, I know. Sorry about that. I will fix this problem in the next update, but in the meantime the book should magically show up in the Library list within 30 days, or you can remove and reinstall the application on your device, although that will cause Crostix to forget where you are in the puzzles. Again, sorry for not having foreseen this problem, and thanks for playing Crostix..Version: 1.5

✓ My favorite kind of puzzlesI love acrostics and have a hard time finding paper books, so I play here. I enjoy the puzzles a lot and am on Book 10 - almost out of books to play. What then? The only thing I wish were different is that the initial letters of the clue answers don't spell out the name of author and source. So these are acrostics, not double-acrostics. ✓ Awesome game -- totally addictive!This is a wonderful word puzzle game that is totally addictive. I have loved it! Unfortunately, I've done all the puzzles and now have to wait for more. (Please hurry!) The quotes are good ones, and are well-chosen. There is even an explanation of the quote when the puzzle is completed correctly. I have done Double Crostics for years, and for quite some time now have felt they would be a great application for a computer -- to alleviate the tedium of transferring the letters from the clues to the quote or vice versa. ✓ Hooray!I LOVE crostics, and have wanted to find a computerized version since before Apple was a company. And here it is! Yippee! The interface works just like you'd want it to, very smooth. My one tiny suggestion is to put the puzzle title in the top bar--it's one of the clues, and I have a tendency to forget it when I'm immersed in solving the word clues. The clues are fair, literate, and accurately define the answer. That's what I expect from a well-written acrostic. ✓ An excellent ideaI enjoy crostic puzzles much more than crosswords, especially on the iPad. The computer removes the greatest drawback to crostics--the fussy work of transferring letters between the word list and the quotation. In reducing the fussiness, the program also makes the puzzles much easier. You can quickly try out an idea in one grid to see whether letters land in sensible places in the other. I find that instead of laboring to complete one puzzle at a time, I can knock off half a dozen of these at a sitting. Unfortunately, this means that you can run out of puzzles pretty quickly. Another difficulty is that all of the puzzles are by the same constructor, and there's a good deal of repetition--clue words and even the clues themselves appear in several puzzles. For example, you might not initially know the term for the opposite of hibernation (sleeping in the summer rather than the winter), but you'll know it soon, and what ought to be a rather difficult clue will become a gimme. This is another reason the puzzles are easy. Allowing for this effect, there isn't much difference in difficulty between the easy puzzles and the "fiendish" ones, at least if you do them in order. It would be wonderful if the Crostix folks could get the rights to republish the work of other constructors, including some of the old classic Thomas Middleton puzzles..Version: 0
