✓ Very disappointing indeed.Unfortunatly, this is a poorly thought-out and implemented app. While it does have a lot of words in it (and some useful usage examples) the flaws outweigh the merits. Examples from just one simple search: Seemingly every word in a definition is a hyperlink, yet many of those words do not have a definition. So κέφαλος is defined as a grey mullet, but tap on the word "mullet" and you get "Word Not Found". Worse, you have been dumped into the English-Greek side of the dictionary with the (pointless) search term "mullet" having replaced the search you had actually entered. And, of course the word "mullet" absolutely belongs in any English-Greek dictionary, as both the red and grey mullets are far from uncommon fish in Greece (and ones with multiple translations thanks to Greek's more precise taxonomy of such things). Back to κέφαλος and you are told that it is an "ΟΥΣ ΑΡΣ", which, for an English-language application is unhelpful in the extreme - if it's a masculine noun then the app should say so in English, not provide the abbreviated Greek term (which would be appropriate for a Greek-language app, but not here). And then it tells me that a κέφαλος is a "grey (βρετ.) or gray (Αμερ.) mullet. Again, why use (abbreviated) Greek to distinguish between British and American English usage in an English-language app? Then there are the maddening inconsistencies between the two "halves" of the app. Such as the English headwords having a phonetic trasnsliteration provided (where it's not very useful) while the Greek ones don't (where, for many, it is vital). So if "mullet" was in the dictionary you'd be told how it can be pronounced, but you don't get that with κέφαλος. Add in clumsy navigation (its browser-like interface cries out for a back button, not just a History icon on the toolbar) and you have a quite good dictionary - or, actually, two quite good dictionaries that aren't, however, sufficiently compatible with one another - hamstrung by poor application design, inept usability and a more or less complete failure to consider the likely needs of the customer. Oh and as for the comment "If you need support, please visit Collins Greek Dictionary Support", well, there doesn't appear to be any. There aren't even any instructions on how to do basic tasks - tasks that, thanks to the clumsy design, are nowhere near as basic as they might be. Collins makes some pretty good print dictionaries but it is not enhancing its brand by allowing its content out to be used this way. ✓ Why doesn’t it link with Kindle?Why. Why can’t it link with my Kindle app or any other interactive dictionary searchers like for all the other languages. Just. Why? Awesome dictionary regardless, but I never use it, because word reference is just as easy on my computer- which I’m forced to use because I want two apps open side by side instead of switching screens every time I want to look up a word. ✓ Should be betterPretty good dictionary. Some weird ux problems. I should be able to type Greek or English and the appropriate word comes up. Unfortunately, the dictionary makes you switch look ups. ✓ Okay for intermediate and advanced Greek studyIt's a good app if you already know how to pronounce Greek -- which is fairly straighforward only if you're past the basic level. The gender and parts of speech are indicated through Greek abbreviations, not through English ones. The real weakness is the underdeveloped flashcard system -- you can only learn in one direction, not choosing to learn by the word vs. definition side of the card, and the minigames are for the entire dictionary, not selected lists of words. You also can't randomize the flashcards. So fix the flashcard issues, and it's worth the price -- keep it as it is, and the app costs twice as much as it's worth..RedSuspenseVersion: 5.0.19

✓ UsefulThis dictionary is useful and saves you lugging around several books and unlike Google Translate you know you are getting the right word for the right context. The games, favorites and flashcards are an added bonus. Negatives? ✓ SpoiltThe latest update has completely spoilt this dictionary. I use it all the time and now find it very difficult to do so. The slightest miss spelling brings up no possibles, which we need when looking up Greek words as they change depending on tense and case so there is always some guesswork when looking up an unfamiliar word. ✓ Not greatNot many Emma’s, poor functionality and often it asks to rate it in spite of having already rated it. The translation is often missing on many examples and it misses the genitive, nominative, etc unique to this language. Unfortunately there’s no much choice out there and this was my best shot. ✓ MehDoes what it says, but not much in the way of polish or features. And they could be a bit quicker with the bug-fixes...a paper dictionary might be bulky, but at least it won't suddenly stop functioning for 2 weeks. ✓ Expect more!We should all expect a lot more from electronic dictionaries. A dictionary for Greek should conjugate every verb in every tense and mood, and every noun and every adjective in every case. It should be possible to look up every word in every form in which it occurs. This one does not even give the genders or the plural forms of nouns. To get the gender you have to look up the English translation. There are no verb conjugations at all. So many common words cannot be looked up at all. The Collins German-English dictionary at least provides a complete conjugation table for every verb and the genders and plurals of nouns. So there's no excuse for not doing a little better with the Greek. An outrageous feature of this app is that it periodically pops up a window that asks you to give it five stars.
