✓ Very FunFun, but pricey for such a simple game. You just tap to jump, and there are only a few different obsticles. Gaps, windows, collapsing buildings, and bombs will kill you, while boxes will slow you down. The atmosphere is amazing, however. The music, sound effects, and background are steller. I find myself coming back to this app over and over when I have a few spare minutes. This game is like Doodle Jump, in that it has amazing replayability, and fills in your spare time quite nicely. I find myself comparing this game to doodle jump and other games like it more than once. This is why the price bothers me a little. I have no regrets at all about buying this app, and if your willing to spend three dollars on any app, I would highly recommend this one..Version: 0
✓ Fantastic little titleCanabolt is one of the greatest games on the iPod and comes with a great soundtrack. I highly recommend it. Also if you look in the background you can see little robots destroying the city so you can get what he is running from! Anyway, it plays very well, it has an easy control and it is simple to grasp and is addictive. ✓ I'm Missing My Son Grow Up (v1.1)Love this little app. Great look, beautiful in it's simplicity and the music is fantastic and totally adds to the tension! ✓ Elegant, Brilliant, AddictiveCanabalt is elegant in its simplicity, yet challenging enough to be addictive. The goal: to dash as far as possible before meeting your inevitable demise. The graphics are gorgeous in all their grey, pixelated glory. I particularly love the parallax scrolling background which gives you a hint of what you may be running from (giant robots destroying humanity) without the need for some boring and elaborate intro. The birds are also a lovely touch. Gameplay is perfect as a quick time-waster. It takes less than a minute or two to play and requires one finger to jump. The sound design and music are also fantastic...suitably atmospheric and stressful. My only request is for a global high-score table, and push to facebook instead of twitter..Version: 0
✓ My favourite app - Hands down.Honestly, I'll admit, I'm not a huge fan of repetitive gameplay (it takes a lot to keep my attention) but this game is as addictive as it is fun. I'm drawn to the apocalyptic noir style graphics, the witty comments the game will make when you epic fail (which will be, a fair few times, I might add) and the music compliments and heightens the gameplay. ✓ Stylish genius!This does not have good colour, depth, variety, or options. It's amazing. This heavily styled game should have been made 25 years ago and been an eternal classic we'd all love. As it's new, too many people seem to complain because it doesn't have the flashy, empty rubbish attached to a lot of games. The randomised play means it can be quite rough on you, so there is a mixture of skill and a little luck. The basic distance based score gives you something to achieve, and I can't stop playing it. This is not a great game because it has a bigger gun than the last one. It's great because it's actually creative, diferent and fun!.Version: 0

✓ So Simple yet So AwesomeI saw this game online about a week ago and played the free flash version and was immediately addicted. I thought to myself, I'll just keep playing the free version, but I just couldn't stand not having it on my iPod, so I bought it. It has Unlimited replay value. What keeps me playing is my mind keeps thinking that there is something at the end if I keep running, lol. I would ask the developers to add an accelerometer feature that mimics the jump feature, so when we jerk our iPod, the runner leaps. Anyways, thanks for my new "favoritests" game!.Version: 0

(in case, like me, you were wondering what you do, it's like icopter, you tap at the edge of the buildings to jump the distance you want. The runnings automated, and it accelerates) Two improvements: one, create a challenge mode of cool runs that, over time take you out of the city to safety. Id really like this!! ✓ Worth the price tag.Well worth the price tag. Canabalt's daring escape is fun over and over again. Simple yet stunning visuals combined with music to rival that of Little Runner makes this a must-have on the iPhone. Just remember to play with headphones on (as suggested in the splash screen) to get the full effect. Some obsticles (the bombs) are hard to hear coming from the built-in speaker, and WILL kil you if you're not expecting them. ✓ Why Some Ideas Just Work...It couldn't be much simpler, just a pixelated little man running his heart out thru a world under siege. He runs at his own pace, the only control you have is when he jumps. The more rooftops he clears, the faster he goes. Doesn't sound like much, does it? Well, this is easily one of the most addicting games for the iPhone I've played. The graphics are stripped down, simple gray tones, the music pumps you along and you just never know when a battleship blast may turn you into a fine mist. ✓ Simplistic bliss.I've reviewed this one before, but it seems that my review vanished. But I love this game so much that I'm going to take time away from sleeping to do it again! Canabalt isn't amazing because of it's simple pick up and play premise. It's not because of it's pulse pounding soundtrack and eerily engrossing sound effects. It's not the druglike addictiveness of the gameplay or the beautifully doomsaying graphics. Canabalt derives it's genius from the mystery of it all. It's obvious you're trying to escape the giant automatons destroying the city in the background. But what are they? Aliens? Machines that have become self aware? An evil genius and his attempt to take over the world? (Of course!) This is for you, the player, to the decide. Canabalt is amazing because there is no clearly drawn storyline. SSS gives you some clues and leaves you to the fill in the blanks. This is why Canabalt is incredible. It isnt just a game. It's a captivating experience, which is leaps and bounds more than most other games from the AppStore can offer. There's a lot of potential for additional game modes here that I hope the developer soon experiments with (i.e. a double jump mode; an HP mode where energy is lost for hitting boxes; a "gravity" mode in which the character jumps higher and falls slower, etc.). Canabalt is so near-perfect in design and implementation, I just can't stop going back for "one more go". ✓ AddictiveI've had this game a long time, on 3G, 3Gs and now iPhone 4 handsets - and I always keep coming back to it. It's a good time killer, and I'm still not bored of it! It's just simple pick up and go fun - nothing complex, and as such it doesn't really need to have world-beating graphics. ✓ Simple yet captivatingGameplay is based on a single mechanic, (tap to jump) and a frenetic pace. The gameplay is overshadowed by an intriguingly ambiguous plot and 2 incredible soundtracks. The mood is punctuated with beautifully animated 16-bit graphics and sarcastic dialogue. This intelligent combination of gameplay, mood, and style creates a delightfully bleak, heart pumping arcade game. It would be awsome to see new obstacles and situations thrown in! For example a glass window on top of a building that you would have to jump on while running across that same building to fall into the already present "inside a building" scenario. Another would be a robot spaceship comes out of nowhere and randomly the music climaxes and crescendos. The spaceship shoots like lasers or something (idk) and you have to jump over the lasers. After awhile the spaceship either gives up trying to kill you, or something comes out of nowhere and hits the space ship knocking it into the background and explodes in a huge explosion and the screen shakes. Maybe like an airplane or building or something hits it? idk I just think this game could use MORE COOL SCENARIOS! This is the first iPhone game I'm proud to own, and strangely it is incredibly shallow. Definitely play this game with headphones as well; this game sounds insanely good. ✓ Can't Stop Playing It!!May be my favorite game app. I absolutely love this thing, even though I made a grievous error in playing the version on the creator's website. Seeing it on a 27" MAC with Klipsch computer speakers and subwoofer cranked, certainly leaves the Iphone version lacking. It is just not the same thing. The click of a mouse has it all over the tap of a finger. Somehow though I know that had I skipped the online rendition, I would be thinking that this game is such a cut above, simple as it is. Personally, I think the dark, brooding music makes it!!!! I would kill to have it as a ringtone!! I was playing the Invasion game mode for a while and started noticing that the building to the right of the huge spikey thing just suddenly appeared out of the corner of my eye. ✓ Strangely addictiveI can't stop playing it. Basically you control a little man running on rooftops from what seems an alien invasion. One touch if the screen and you jump. Sounds simple? Well it's different everytime. you could all of a sudden have to jump through a window or maybe off of a collapsing building. You could get really unlucky and have an alien craft land into the building or place a device that turns you into dust if you hit it (a la War Of The Worlds). This means running into obstacles is actually beneficial. This could be fixed with some kind of multiplier that rewards you for high speed. Not sure what people are complaining about. First of all it is a simple game where you tap it and the guy jumps. It's not a 3D shooter. Idk what people expect as far as music goes, but this game started as an experiment. They probably didn't have the money to hire a large orchestra. That said, I think the music is great. Don't like it? There are volume buttons for a reason. Push the right one to turn down the music. Although a dialogue asking if you want music or not when you first launch the game wouldn't be outta the question. Idk what people are talking about with the fps, but I have lots of multitasking stuff on my 3G (not 3GS) and this game runs smooth as silk. Maybe restart your iDevice once in a while? ✓ The break down does not fitFirst off I love this game, been playing it non stop since I got it. The music is awesome as well, however that having been said the breakdown in the track is far too long and breaks the intensity of the game. If you were just making an electronic track it's ok, but this is a video game, and video games music should not have that kind of breakdown in the track unless there is a change in the intensity or the level. The music is what pulls the intensity of levels atmosphere together; it starts off strong, your bursting through a window and the music is pumping, your jumping buildings and boxes and the music picks up and you feel epic; then the music breaks-down and looses all intensity, while your doing the same epic jumps. There is real disconnect when that happens and it ruins the immersion of the game. Please modify the track to keep the level high intensity, the break down ruins the intensity of the game and could really benefit from keeping the atmosphere high intensity..Version: 0

When I tried to install it, my iPod Touch went into recovery mode and for some reason, couldn't be restored on my computer where it's all backed up. So using my dads laptop I had to restore it to factory defaults. The game gets that "easy to learn, hard to master" quality so often missing in modern games easily. The music, if you play with headphones, is engrossing and atmospheric and the graphics are also top-notch. ✓ GreatGreat game simple graphics and only one control just tap. But I have noticed that if u tap lightey the little dude peforms a tiny jump and if you tap hard he peforms a high jump. These 2 types of jump are helpfull when i approach a window hallway where I only need to do a small jump to get in. If you are one of those people who enjoys the old-school concept of the "perfect run", this game is for you. Especially when the scream of the rare bomb falling breaks up any chance of monotony. Some runs, when your character finally meets his fate, you'll realize you've been barely breathing for the past few moments. The graphical style is fantastic. Even if you're not into platform gaming, the fast pace and ease of gameplay will get you hooked. If you're playing the game, as far as I know, you need to exit the app to go back to the homepage and see the hishscores. Also, the new profile creation seemed to require me setting up while on the internet, which resulted in my first few records being set with no name. I greatly enjoyed its smooth gameplay, immersive experience (Doppler-effect audio, the phone vibrates with crashing buildings, so on) and surprising amount of storyline. Yes, there's a storyline; whoever you are, you're running (not away or towards) through a cataclysmic event in a metropolitan city; massive robots destroy buildings in the distance, ships fly overhead and drop bombs on the ground, massive... Things turn huge structures to rubble. What is the canabalt company, and how is it that they own everything in this city? What are the claw marks on the buildings from? The game provides you with two advertisements, for their new game. That's all. I haven't played it, but it seems interesting. The music is very thematic and exciting, and helps maintain the pacing. Danny baranowski is a great composer, and I recommend doing the hour or so of searching to find some of the other pieces he's written. I'm getting ahead of myself, though... Canabalt keeps players on there toes, where Doodle Jump is almost too predictable. I feel that Canabalt is overlooked because of the price, but it is well worth it. ✓ Some people just don't get itStriped down gaming at it's best. Perfectly designed. Just one button. Just one aim. No levels. No unnesessary 3D. No fussy controls. Just superb music, fast action and lots of lovely little details. I love the sounds, like when you run over the cranes and smash through a window. The giant machines walking in the background and flash of their guns. The birds that fly away and the smoke rising in the sky. Perfect. Stop complaining about the price. I've played it over a hundred times already. Why is it that people with one of the most expensive phones in the world moan about a great game that costs less than buying the authors a pint of beer? ✓ Imperfect.This game is good but has some key flaws. For instance, whenever the player is moving slowly, long crumbling buildings can appear that offer zero chance of escape, which is especially frustrating near the beginning when the player hasn't even had a chance to gain speed. Boxes and other obstacles are also sometimes placed in such a way as to force the player to eat dirt. Not fun. Also, at high speeds, sometimes the player has to jump before they can even see the next building, which makes survival a feat of luck. Making the screen wider would help a lot there..Version: 0

It seems many of the people reviewing the game fail to understand that a game can be used to provide simple fun, and doesn't have to reward you everytime you do something nominally interesting. Forget achievements, forget complex controls, graphics and flashy effects. Canabalt is simple, one-button fun in a tiny package, which delivers an intense, addictive, easily replayable experience, and in my opinion, is well worth the price, especially when you consider a few of the worse games you could spend the same amount of money on..Version: 1.6

✓ AMAZINGAs someone who loves infinite runners, this game is perfect! I just have a couple things I think should be added: 1.) I think, conceding with the first review to this game, a new map could include wallrunning! Like, when you tap, you just have to tap again in the air and in front of a wall and then you wallrun! And maybe you run out of time eventually, so you have to tap again to jump from the wall and make it to some buildings! 2.) It would be awesome if you could change your character! Again, conceding with the first review, maybe new characters could be unlockables...? 3.) I think it would be pretty awesome if you could do online multiplayer on the maps! And if it could hold up to 4 people, that would be tops! I honestly think these and maybe a different soundtrack for each map location could be cool! ✓ Excellent Replay Value!At first sight, Canabalt looks like a simple game with retro graphics but it is deceptively simple. The game is played by tapping the screen to make your character jump as he runs and leaps from rooftop to rooftop in an urban skyline. Why pay for this? As many may know, many iPhone/iPod Touch games do not have much replay value. In fact, I have read several personal finance articles saying mobile applications are often a good way to save money because of how infrequently they are used after the initial purchase. Canabalt is among a small group of games that is NOT a wasteful purchase because the obstacles are randomized with each run. The graphics and play control are crisp and unique. The grayscale color palette and retro pixelated sprites is a treat for the eyes. The exciting original music and gameplay harkens back to the German, indie, cult, hit film, Run Lola Run. Best of all, this game is the perfect "bite-sized" game that doesn't try to compete with bigger licensed games from bigger development companies with extensive development staff and funding. I regret not having played the original Flash game and supporting the developer from the start and encourage every gamer, serious or casual, to try this game online to see if you're willing to drop a few dollars for the mobile version..Version: 0
✓ Simple old school style funDon't be fooled by how simple the graphics appear, this game is insanely addictive and its simplicity is what makes it awesome. There are no complicated controls, a single tap on the screen and you jump over obstacles (or if you time it wrong you jump down a gap in between buildings, oops) and the fact that the course is never the same stops the game becoming monotonous or boring. The soundtrack adds a dramatic tone to your "daring escape". The game is good enough that it doesn't need fancy graphics. If you're looking for an easy to use addictive game, then this is the game for you..Version: 0
