Wonderful little gameHaven’t played much but I’m already gripped! Everything from the aesthetic to the mechanics is satisfying. Can’t wait to get really stuck in!.Version: 1.0

Great Game But...I love this game, I could play it for hours, the rng adds that little bit of mystery and randomness I like in games but I have a few issues with it: 1. Sometimes it’s near impossible to click an action and it will take me sometimes 2 minutes before the game realizes I’ve been clicking it, but maybe that’s cause I have big fingers 2. I wish the undo option would undo actions that had a large impact, one time I accidentally blew up my dog because I thought I was the dog and was going to howl but was actually someone near him with a lighter...you can see what happened there But those are my only quarrels, great game otherwise, a game anyone could enjoy, in my opinion I just like starting the game over again for the rng.Version: 1.2.1

Great game! SuggestionThis is a great game, and I love it! Though can you please give us the ability to fully customize our own starting characters, such as clothing and accessories, skin colour, hair colour and style, and character name please? It’d be great! Thanks!.Version: 1.3.0

Great game, but brutally hardDifficult game to pick up, but now getting the hang of it and into the 3rd section of the game. Needs a difficulty setting maybe; Hence Easy mode with more character health with more items to pickup.Version: 1.0

Great game but too difficultThis is such a great game but the difficulty of this game has more to do with luck than actual problem solving. Depending on the map and what items and people get generated, you can go far, but if you get a bad map that is literally impossible to get through, you have to start ALL the way over. I think what would be useful is to add the ability to change the difficulty. Also it would be really nice if the characters can heal overtime than having to always find a health kit (which rarely get generated when I play) This game is seriously marvelous and I love it, but it’s too challenging to where I can’t get far unless I get lucky..Version: 1.1.0

Well. PART 2 NEEDED!I’ve been playing this game for a while and I haven’t heard that many updates, as one of the reviews said we need dialogue, and more backstory. I want to feel the history of the character. When I did a play through I felt a feeling for two of my characters, but just not enough. As the title says you can’t leave it off just right there. We need them to explore, trying to find there way to a safe zone. Struggling as more bandits explore. The creature numbers only dwindle. Anyways. Hope you can continue work on this game. Thanks for reading!.Version: 1.3.0

Eerie, challenging, addictingAfter overlooking this game for a few years after reading a few mixed reviews, I finally checked Overland out for myself. I’m so glad that I gave it a chance. Over the last few days, I found myself completely hooked on its difficult (but not unfair!) gameplay, its memorable creatures and characters, its unsettling sound design, and its colorful, haunting visuals. This is a vibrant, mysterious, fun game that deserves a big audience. I saw a few reviews frustrated by the difficulty, but the game never punishes you or shames you for starting a stage over. If anything, this is a game with meaningful failures, teaching you how to play it as you go. When I finally lost a party member at the end of the second to last area, I understood exactly why she had died. It still broke my heart. Play this game! For what its worth, it seems like this is a studio with many women in prominent positions, which is exciting to see and still all too rare..Version: 1.2.2

Full Game is Really GoodThe beginning is reeeeeally frustrating because its hard to figure out the controls, BUT!!!! now that I’ve played the game in full, I’m really glad I stuck with it. Having patience and restarting the level is REALLY the way to play this game. It was challenging, but doable, and I made it to end game with a full van, full health people, and a doggy!! The world is interesting, and I enjoy the strategy of it, nothing is too punishing. Tip: if you’re having trouble switching characters, tap THAT character and then the bottom left tab description thingy. Its so much easier to switch characters once you have more people too..Version: 1.1.1

My new favorite hyper-focusI’ll echo several others and say the buttons and general UI can be difficult, even on my iPad. The escape button frequently pops up 75% off screen, and I have to tap the buttons multiple times to work. So one star off. That being said, Overland is challenging but not impossible and rewarding enough to keep me playing. The art is *chef’s kiss*, hearty praise to the art directors. Edit: after my 5th or 6th play through, I still love the game, but find the ending so anti-climactic… I’ve begun quitting at the last blockade and starting a new game because the last biome is so tedious. Also, very confused by the orb..Version: 1.2.2

All Dogs Go To HeavenI see this game’s been out for at least a year, so I’m just coming into it and my experience probably reflects on the progress that’s been made based on feedback. I thought the art style was minimal and fun. My first run, it was difficult and I constantly ran out of gas while trying to keep my 2 person team alive. My second run, with all dogs (which was boss), went way better since I learned a few tricks. You’re safe in while in the car, except for the lightning creature in later levels. Once I learned this, I could strategize around it, I’d keep injured people in the car at all times, drive the car to use as a barrier between monsters and my other homies. Then, I basically committed to finding an SUV and getting the expanded gas tank, I actually fully customized this beast with the lights, bumper and roof rack too. I was never able to fill this gas tank, but it made a huge difference being able to get up to 7/8 and then basically cruising halfway through each map at a time. Wood palettes are key because they act as a passive shield. Fuel is absolutely the most important resource though, always get as much as possible. I didn’t experience any glitches or issues, but I will say I crave more depth and variety. I didn’t fully grasp the story and perhaps you’re not supposed to, but I think it’d make it better. All in all, fun game, worth an afternoon or 2 of your time..Version: 1.2.0

Critical MuchReading through these reviews I’m honestly a little confused. Sure figuring out how to heal or put on a hat was tough, but I figured that out on the second survivor group I played. By the time group 3 met their collective deaths without a car and stumbling along the city streets of the east coast I had figured out how important gas was XD. This game gets a lot more flack than its deserving of. It’s actually pretty darn addictive! Playing in the dark fits the games theme perfectly and you have to figure out what everything is or how it works. Games didn’t always have tutorials and I appreciate the retro feel that comes with playing Overland. Tasks (especially border stages) are daunting and require something of a chess styled mind to accomplish. Who’s too important to lose? Who’s not contributing enough to turn into bait while the rest of your party escape? Especially if you worked to build everyone up and everyone’s been through miles of country together it’s a hard call to make. I will say, playing on an iPad that the selection buttons are sometimes a little tough to actually hit but overall this game is a blast!.Version: 1.0.12

One of the best Apple Arcade games I have played! The controls are frustrating and are tiny BUT I love the concept, the art/style, and the story. I’d love a sequel to this game or a spin-off. (Hopefully with more responsive controls.) There were definitely times when the controls got super annoying, but because I loved everything else about the game I managed to play through the game on Normal twice. I tried the harder level but with wonky controls quickly found it wasn’t rewarding enough for all the frustration. I played this on a iPhone 7 Plus which might have helped a bit. I was dreaming what it would have been like on an iPad Pro. Great job Finji!.Version: 1.2.1

HonestlyI really enjoyed the game! Was and is addicting, had it finished in three days with it played a few hours each time. It has a good sense of story building with the people you meet along the way and choosing to be nice or not. On normal difficulty, I still had my challenges along the way while being able to achieve awards, for example, lasting until the end with my first character. The only thing I would pick on is the dialogue that pop up after you make it from one place to the next. It is a bit ‘computer’ like. Another thing is, I’d love for it to be a much bigger game than it is. With that being said, when I finished it, it was pretty underwhelming but considering the world is ending, I don’t suppose it would be sunshine and daisies. Overall, I would recommend this game. Warning, it does ‘end’ rather quickly so don’t expect a fully in depth apocalypse game, however, it is grinding, survival, tactics etc. despite the game length. Genuinely enjoyed it!.Version: 1.2.1

Personally the best strategy gameFirst of all I started playing this as soon as it released as soon as I touched it I was already in love with it I personally think it’s one of the best strategy games if not the best what I love about this is you as a dog/human is traveling across America and you have to get a crew so on so on this is why I got hooked I used to play for hours and not see the time. Take all your time to make updates Thank you..Version: 1.3.0

I Keep Starting Over 😅I get sad every time I leave a dog behind. I tried to take two cars - that didn’t work. I tried to make everyone walk and I would of had to blow up my car… Again. Realistically though, what car can only carry one item and three people. I think a few adjustments should be made. Also, it would be cool if the characters found had special abilities. They have a bit of a back round story but, when it comes down to leaving a person behind (if needed) I should be able to choose the strongest members..Version: 1.2.2

HelpEverytime, when one of the characters get injured, it seems that they don’t heal, Can you help.Version: 1.2.0

Stick with itThe learning curve on this game is pretty steep, as I kept on failing and almost stopped playing. However, after getting a hang of it I found that this game is really fun. I think it’s due to the relatively small UI, but the sweet spot to click in order to change characters took a while to find (around the middle of the white line under the character images). It was also surprising to find that you don’t need to start over once the previous team arrived at a new region. Doesn’t quite make sense, but I’ll take it. Edit: after playing a while, I love the game. But I just wanted to emphasize that the tiny text is seriously a problem. Also I find that a quick fix to being unable to change characters is to exit out the game and come back in. Also, I just experienced my first crash today..Version: 1.1.1

My favorite game - still is, a year later!I originally downloaded this game a year ago and i loved it. Its a perfect mix of adventure, puzzles, ethical dilemmas and strategy, along with an oddly melancholic dystopian mystery that kind of always feels open ended. I have honestly spent a year looking for another game that ticks all my boxes the way this one does and never found it. So i came back to this, its just as enjoyable now as it was then. Its hard enough without being frustrating, but what gets me most is the “survival” mindset it puts you in. Does the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few? Will you sacrifice someone to survive? How about your dog? Will you steal? Will you kill? And i love that the choices you make have effects down the line…if you make it that far. Ugh, i love this game so much. The aesthetics and sound design are also just peak excellence. On top of everything the mentions of Mad Cap and Squibb in the credits makes me think the devs live in my hometown, what could be cooler?? Just download this game and dive in, you wont regret it..Version: 1.3.0

I like it but it needs to be fixedGame is very unresponsive. I really like playing it but you have to click the buttons multiple times before it responds, or it occasionally doesn’t even do what you want. By the third level the game just crashes, and doesn’t even allow you to open the level it just continuously crashes. I really do like this game and I really do want to play it but it just continually crashes and lets me down..Version: 1.2.0

Ambitious story, annoying controlsAmazing story, frustrating bugs, but it draws you in. I almost gave up in frustration before finding some YouTube guides. Yes the UI is horrible, and it made me restart when I switched between my Mac and my iPhone. But once I got the hang of it I was hooked and kept playing until I beat the game..Version: 1.1.0

Pretty good gameOnly downside is poor controls. The action buttons are way too small for mobile. You have so much screen estate. Even making the action buttons 40% bigger would go a long way..Version: 1.2.2

Love itJust finished this game, and I must say that I am impressed. The only bad thing is this game make my phone really hot when I play it..Version: 1.1.1

StunningAbsolutely in love with the art style, the controls only took a couple minutes too learn. The story is very subtle and mysterious, and there isn’t too much to learn which is the case with a lot of games nowadays. I only wish there was more to the game.. Such as maybe you can play as the monsters.. I’m not sure. Regardless, i had fun playing this unique turn-based strategy game. There were numerous moments where you have to think tremendously about your items and how you move and times where I felt emotionally attached to some of the people I had saved..and dogs.. I’ll definitely continue to look out if any of the credited people for this game support/work on different games or projects. Maybe another gem will be made. :•).Version: 1.2.1

Beautiful and challenging game, some bugsAmazing game, been playing since pre release, loved the updates. However on iPhone it drains my battery so fast, the odd crash back ends the game and controls often freeze or the screen needs rotating to get to the escape button. I keep coming back though!.Version: 1.2.1

OverlandYeah I like this game a lot and have spent a good bit of time playing, all I want is an update where at the end of the level, you can watch a replay of it but in real time, would be pretty cool.Version: 1.2.1

Great GameLove this game. Finish it in a day. Can’t stop playing.Version: 1.2.1

Good game so far but maybe some bugsI just downloaded it and it’s a great game to play but it’s frozen a couple of times and has crashed twice ( I have an iPhone 13 pro max so I doubt it’s the phone itself). Maybe there’s some bugs that need to be fixed?? But apart from those issues it’s a great game to play - has me hooked so far.Version: 1.2.2

Great fun & varied! The initial version had some problems with tapping on buttons, but that’s since been resolved. (In case you see other reviews mentioning that. Such a great game, lots of fun, properly dark, and different every time you play!.Version: 1.0.4

Great gameWorks great on iPad Pro. Very nice visual and sound..Version: 1.2.0

Not immediately intuitive, but stick with it!The controls take some getting used to, and it’s not always clear from the get go what actions you are allowed to take per turn. Provided you have level restart turned on however, you can just keep trying new strategy’s and figuring it out as you go. This can be frustrating, but super rewarding when you find the best approach for the particular biome. There’s not much drive to keep progressing. New enemies are introduced and methods have to adapt, but overall the first level is not wildly different from the last. I enjoyed it, and have spent a good few hours playing to completion but the game needs a new mechanic to keep anyone interested enough to replay..Version: 1.1.2

Phenomenal gameWhen I started playing this game it was very strange to me. I thought it wouldn’t spark the interest it did. But now that I have played it, my love for this game will never die. It had me in tears at the end. The game does include a little luck, but that can be overcome by restarting and knowing what is in its place. The game runs well, the graphics are well done, and the gameplay is controlable. I am no video game critic but this game, this story has sparked my love for stuff like this. Thank you so much for letting me enjoy this. Even if it is a game in my imagination I would have never given up. Much love and keep up the good work..Version: 1.2.2

Punishing and unintuitive at first but worth the rewardsThis is the first game I ever reviewed on the App Store. I will admit that I almost gave up on the game the first few hours especially when my dogs kept dying. My heart couldn’t take the heartbreak of seeing dogs die even if it’s just a cartoony game. I was unaware of the “level restart” option and certain mechanics weren’t immediately apparent which contributed to my repeated demise. After countless trials, everything finally clicked in terms of how to play the game effectively. I also discovered new gameplay mechanics each time I started the journey from the very beginning which turned out to be pleasantly surprising this time around instead of exasperating. I’ve beaten the game twice now from coast to coast with no casualties and loads of resources. I can’t wait for future updates such as inventory management. A few requests: Can we have cats please? They would also be great post-apocalyptic companions. Can we have a gallery of every endgame posse and their stats? It would be nice to see a collection of all your playthroughs and characters..Version: 1.0.4

Addictive game and immersive experienceIt takes some time to adapt to the user interface. The universe is extremly immersive and the infinite possibilities make it an addictive game. The end of the game might be a little bit frustating, maybe I was waiting for more? Overall a great game!.Version: 1.0.4

Brilliant!***Developer response needed Different every time you play! I can’t get past the Basin but I still can’t stop playing (it’s because I panic-quit). Such an interesting game with a storyline to discover and so many ways to play! You discover some new technique/skill each time you play. *** how can I send you a bug report? (Not for a crash) I have a funny screen recording of a bug about non-teammates picking up items constantly. It was solved by closing and reopening the game, but thought it might be something you’d need to know about just in case..Version: 1.1.2

Awesome gameIncredibly fun game. Love the art style and the randomly generated levels. Controls are a bit unresponsive at times but tolerable for the fun game..Version: 1.2.1

Part 2?I believe that this game was phenomenal and is being overlooked more than it deserves. It has wonderful procedural generation, good problem solving issues, and really teaches you to learn with different strategies for different creatures. The ending was great, with cool terrain, and it gave you time to reflect on all the adventuring your team had done. Only suggestion? Make a part two or add more vehicles or vehicle parts with unique traits, such as adding a seat to the car for more passengers. I would love to see my squad of dogs traveling across the ocean seeing new creatures along the way and finding unique islands. It would really spark my interest further into this game. Another thing I loved was absolute sadness of realizing you can’t fit more dogs into your vehicle. I wish this game could let me travel more with the dogs I had in my group or allow me to save other dogs, but not force the option “leave them or replace another dog with them”. 10/10 awesome game!.Version: 1.2.2

Great gameThis is one of the best games on Apple Arcade. I’ve gone through several play through a and likely will go through several more. The mix of randomly generate maps and strategy required to complete them make the game always challenging and unique without feeling unfair. I would highly recommend you give this game a shot. I had a lot of fun learning what each item did and how to use them effectively. The game has incredible replay value. Other reviews mentioned the game having a lot of bugs, but apart from the occasional crash I haven’t had any problems with the game. Since the game auto saves after every turn, you don’t even lose progress if the game crashes. What I’m trying to say is that Overland is an almost flawless masterpiece which your should definitely check out. I would recommend first playing with “restart level” enabled so that you can get a grasp on the mechanics of the game without the permanent consequences that come with regular gameplay..Version: 1.1.2

Perfect game for meYes I love this it’s the best but I have one thing can you add guns to the game so we don’t have to run and hit them cease like i will like a pistol or something to protect yourself my ideas with the pistol is The ideas:kill the monster after you are almost dead and you shoot em and you feel guilty after you do that and more with the guns is like you can shoot them or if you break your gun if it’s like a assault rifle and your about to die you hit the monster with the rifle and walk back and you say my gun!! And the other guys say what’s wrong and you say my gun and the other guys say get a new one only if you have someone with you or if you only have a dog a voice will just pop up behind you it might be some guy and the guy will have a mask and you will have to stay with him or reject him and leave him dead but that’s all the ideas well maybe that’s not it and wow I can’t believe your reading this and so now you can have houses on a thing called online mode but you can text friends and dance in online mode and stuff and here’s my 4 suggestion you can be friends or you can push or not or you can get bad guys away from you buy saying it will look like a bad word but it’s really not it’s just a insult and the guy that might be a stranger will back up and then you get a thing to throw stuff at them and the run and say I’ll come back! So that’s all the suggestions that Sincerely Curious player.Version: 1.2.1

This is a great gameBut a few annoying bugs sometimes break it. For example, sometimes when you want to escape a level, none of the action buttons are actually visible. Similarly, when you look at someone on the death screen, I found that i couldn’t get out of that menu and had to close the app..Version: 1.0

Needs a little bit more...This game is beautiful, new and interesting. I’m in love with horror and post-apocalyptic games and I think that OVERLAND has the perfect combination of both genres. However, I think that in the next update, whenever that might be, Finji should add more characters and further developed dialogue, at some points it is repeated, boring or irrelevant. I know that this might be asking for a lot but I wholeheartedly believe that if a hunger level bar, or whatever you think is most appropriate, is added that it would definitely give the player more tasks resulting in increased engagement and enjoyment in general. Also, an idea to think about is adding a home that the characters can build and reside in. But again to reiterate, it is an amazing game for thousands of reasons, to mention a few: graphics, design, quality, narrative and concept. Absolutely stunning! I must also acknowledge that the ending is emotional and beautiful but could be improved in regards to the first improvement point I made. Thanks for reading, I know it’s long, but I just really want to see this game do well and go further! bna..Version: 1.2.1

Deep roguelike survivalOverland is a beautifully atmospheric game with surprisingly deep mechanics and a punishing difficulty curve. It's not a game for everyone, but I love it. The survival mechanics force you into some genuinely difficult decisions, but never punish you arbitrarily. You really have to make each item of equipment count, but it is possible for everything to go south and still you make it out by the skin of your teeth, with clever play. My only criticism is the UI. It was clearly designed for PC and ported. As a result there are some inconsistencies and other nuisances. Some buttons need to be tapped twice, others only once. Some buttons are too small for fat fingers, and missing the button often cause the camera to move by mistake. It doesn't break the game, but it can be a nuisance. Ideally, the UI should be redesigned from scratch to suit the platform..Version: 1.0.4

PhenomenalThis game is amazing. Not only are the graphics and artsyle beautiful to look at, but the game itself is insanely fun. I've seen a lot of reviews complaining about difficulty, RNG, etc., but really you have to fail a few times to get the hang of things. For example, as you advance in the game they add new alien types. You have no idea what the new ones do until you make a move, and I love that because it makes one pay attention to their environment instead of just looking at a bestiary that explains how the enemies behave. Also, the fact that killing a barterer early game doesn't allow you barter with anyone else in a run is a nice touch. [Spoilers Ahead!] After making it across the US and finally to the west coast, the game blesses you with a peaceful but sad ending. Multiple stages where you just advance to the next room. No enemies, no supplies, no car. Just you and the peaceful slug aliens that let you pet them (I didnt know they were peaceful until recently do I had been killing them but now I feel bad knowing they're harmless). The final scene where your party sits around the fire and reminisces about the things they missed pre-apocalypse and if youve lost a party member before theyll mention them, is great. Even though there's not a ton of dialogue in the game, its still very easy to get attached to the characters. Thank you for an amazing game :).Version: 1.2.1

Great game after the latest updatesI can’t speak for how it was before, but none of the problems described in past reviews seem to be issues anymore in the new update. Overall a great game..Version: 1.2.0

MasterpieceThis game is amazing. By far the best Apple Arcade game so far and definitely the most challenging. Don’t let the bad ratings stop you from playing this game. The challenge is part of the fun, and all the bugs have been fixed. There’s a reason that there’s no tutorial, because if the game told you all that, there would be no surprise when your car gets blown up by a walker (which is what I call the big guys introduced in the basin) even once you reach the end, the puzzle is still there, when you try to make the campfire. The game is meant to be hard, and not to give you a win. I’ve replayed the game 3 times now, and am still amazed by the sheer quality of this game. You can’t describe that feeling you get when you make a Molotov, or learn what a noisy dog should be used for. You have a feeling of wonder, like, “how much else did I not know how to use?” And it gives the game infinite replayability. I don’t want to tell you everything in the game, but trust me, you don’t understand the level of depth this game goes into. Do yourself a favor and play this game..Version: 1.1.2

Punishing RewardsOverland feels at home through the ported touch controls. While some early hiccups with mechanics may cause frustration, and the first round of rage quiting, I insist you pursue mastering this demanding and somewhat unforgiving world. With its bitsize level design, it’s perfect for those who want to walk away after nearly escaping death on the last level, but also provides a rush of excitement to keep pressing on as your surpass the level that ended your previous gameplay. Be patient, take lots of mental notes, and talk to your friends about what monsters exists in regions you’ve yet explored. Overland is about the struggle with the unknown, and the persistence of survival when there is no hope in sight..Version: 1.0

Beautiful and hauntingFacts (for players): this game plays like a puzzle game: you have to get your characters through various scenarios without running out of gas or weapons, or smashing your car to pieces. The game controls were almost 100% intuitive, except the character-switcher mechanic (it makes sense, but even in the last chapter I was trying to tap the 'real' version of the character I wanted to select). It has various challenge levels - normal lets you restart levels, which makes play almost relaxing. This is especially useful on a first play through, since the world slowly changes and introduces you to new dangers. The game rewards experimenting, which adds both to the fun and the realism. Impressions (for the developers): I had somehow gotten the impression that this game was going to have zombies, but thankfully there were no zombies. Just strange, eerie monsters slowing infesting the planet with an alien beauty. As the game went on I grew kind of attached to my motley crew, and more and more curious about the environment. The last few maps had me puzzled and excited; awed and apprehensive. I hadn't expected the story of the game to matter so much, to build like an ache into that final scene ....... thank you finji, this was a well executed production..Version: 1.2.2

Beautiful and so addictiveI absolutely love this game. It’s one of those “just one more go” games. It’s hard. Really really hard. That’s isn’t a complaint though. It’s a good challenge. The controls do take some getting used to, but they really aren’t that bad on iOS. The only thing that I find a little annoying is how different the PC version is. It seems a lot more forgiving. For example, creatures don’t seem to attack cars unless they’re making a noise. They are stunned by shield shoves and also by some of the “weird noises.” Perhaps this is a difficulty setting on PC, I’m not sure, I was just surprised to see how differently it worked. Other than that, I’ll definitely be playing this one for a while to come. Love it..Version: 1.0.4

Great game, recommended!Very good game, with a slight bug that sometimes causes you not be able to switch between characters. I finally got to work where I could switch characters but rotating the view. If you really get stuck you can force quit and start again. (Saves automatically, which is great.) So, it’s a fantastic game that’s has a minor UI bug. Might be different if you’re using a device with a bigger screen (i’m on and iPhone 11)..Version: 1.1.1

Incredible game, difficult to playIt's a shame that this game is receiving such negative reviews. The game itself is absolutely incredible for anybody who loves strategy. From a usability perspective, it is difficult to play and I truly hope that some time is spent improving playability on smaller mobile devices. This is a game that should be loved! I would have a hard time recommending this unless you have an iPad with a stylus to play on..Version: 1.0

One of the best on Arcade! This game is hard, and one wrong move can wipe out your whole trip - nonetheless it has amazing visual design and depth. It quickly produces interesting choices and situations to escape and I found myself getting attached to my characters really fast. The rogue-likeness amplifies the difficulty but I appreciate the addition of an undo button, and confirmation taps to make sure I don’t make a run-ending mistake..Version: 1.0

A special gameI understand why people have issues with this game, but I could not help but fall in love with it. It’s definitely not for everyone, but for those who are willing to be patient with it in the beginning and are interested in what it has to offer are in for a treat. It does not have a tutorial, and while initially that was the most frustrating part of the game, I got to a point where I understood all of the rules and mechanics completely. Nothing happened that I did not understand the reason behind (unless of course it was a new creature or phenomenon.) The game has a wonderfully rich atmosphere that sucked me in and didn’t let go. I was always running through all my possible options in my head, stressed out (in the fun-adrenaline way as opposed to the nasty I-want-to-curl-up-and-die way.) The little bits of flavour text each character had really worked for me. Based on their appearance and those two small sentences, my mind crafted their personality and backstory as I played and as things happened. I genuinely felt bad whenever I had to leave someone behind, felt loss when I couldn’t recover a friend. Something I would love is if the relax dialogue was expanded a bit. While it worked really well for me at first, after a while it became really clear that the dialogue was randomly selected from a set of responses, which is probably the only thing that really broke my emersion. Yes the controls are a bit fiddly, the buttons are small and not very responsive (pro-tip, I found that when you are having trouble pressing something holding the button down for a sec worked every time) but if you are willing to be patient with that, it really is a great game. Would recommend to anyone who 1) loves small atmospheric indie games and 2) LOVES the idea of a rouge-like turn based strategy apocalypse road trip..Version: 1.0.12

Amazing game. Unresponsive buttons. At first it was frustrating having to tap over and over for one action to actually work. However, I found that holding and then releasing rather than tapping worked just fine. It’s a really good game and I got to finish it. Decent length and challenging with its turn based strategy. The controls could still be updated so it could be played without having to find a way around unresponsive tapping..Version: 1.1.1

Check it out if you like turn-based strategy!I am really enjoying this game! It is difficult but fair; it asks the player to figure out the rules without the info being handed to them. There are several “hidden” mechanics that are satisfying to find (for instance, learning to to turn an empty bottle into a Molotov cocktail!). The art is also really nice in my opinion and doesn’t have that kitschy “mobile game” aesthetic which even many Apple Arcade games can have. In terms of design it is definitely among the best games on the Arcade! The ONLY reason I am giving 4/5 stars is, as others have said, the UI is a bit difficult to use. I am on an iPhone 7+ so perhaps it is not optimized for “older” machines, but I find that I have to be very slow and deliberate with my button presses for them to register. This along with the relatively small buttons on the UI make navigation of the various systems more cumbersome than I think they ought to be. (It can also be draining on the battery, but at least for me, that is par for the course with mobile games) Overall it’s a very good game and worth your time if you like turn based strategy games. It’s something that would feel at home on a PC just as well as it (almost) does on mobile!.Version: 1.2.2

ADDICTIVE but glitchesI play this every single night before bed without fail and I love it, simple but not too easy as it has some challenging levels, BUT I am so so so so tired of it force closing every 5 minutes, every time I play it.. without it crashing ALL THE TIME it would be a perfect 5/5.Version: 1.2.0

Difficult Roguelike GameThis game looked interesting: A roguelike game set in apocalyptic times. I agree with other reviewers that this game has a level of difficulty and the game doesn’t provide a whole lot of tutorial, but that is what makes roguelikes fun! The tutorial is enough to let the player get the controls, yet leaves it up to the player to figure out certain mechanics and how items work. The controls are a bit difficult. The buttons are very small and take a few attempts to press. I propose a zoom feature to be added so one can zoom in and see what is on the individual tiles, like obtainable rocks and sticks (very important items to have in this game). Alternatively, a graphical effect on the objects would also suffice to show the location of obtainable objects. Lastly, the random generation feels a bit skewed in the game’s favor, especially in enemy placement and quantity. Powerful enemies are typically clustered together and there are frequently too many enemies to handle, regardless of preparation. All in all, I enjoy the game and would recommend it to all reading..Version: 1.0.4

EXTREMELY mixed feelingsI genuinely can’t tell what I think of this game. The gameplay/mechanics are good, but they can get way too difficult. Since every time you kill a monster, two more appear, there’s generally no consistent way to get rid of enemies. You just have to hope that not too many spawn in the first place. Then it just seems like the game is more based off luck than skill. I just think that there should be a more balanced combat system. Make it so they take longer to burrow up, or something like that. My second complaint is the story. It just doesn’t have any explanations or reasoning. I usually find things like environmental storytelling, and making the players fill n the gaps, but… there’s NO storytelling. All it says is that the creatures are aliens that came from meteors. But then EVERYTHING else is just left completely blank. There’s no explanation for the reef, no explanation for the colossus, nothing. Even the view points, which I thought would reveal the story, did… pretty much nothing. The characters just said things like “That’s incredible.” Or “is that even the same landscape?” So like I said, I have VERY mixed feelings..Version: 1.3.0

Fun!Controls can be a bit “off” but you can figure it out. Great strategy game. Been addicted for weeks..Version: 1.1.1

#1 Game in App Store!! Super underrated.I’ve played this game on and off since it’s release. Challenging at points, really diverse gameplay depending on choices. Love it! Keep it up 🖖🏻😎.Version: 1.2.0

Embrace the experienceI love this game for all the reasons that others have problems with it. To me, MY experience is similar to the characters that I am controlling. I am in this scenario where I don’t know what to do, and I just have to figure it out. The learning I do to figure out how to play and survive is the same process the characters would have to use to survive in the situation they are in. At first I was frustrated by the no win scenarios that came with a board or location, but then I thought about it. If this was real, my character might be in a no-win situation. I learned that sometimes you had to just keep driving even if you knew you didn’t have enough fuel to make it to the next “station”, just hoping the next location might give me a chance. I think this game is great for how it doesn’t hold your hand and have little pop up bubbles as it walks you through how to play. I found victory in learning how to control the players. I love the chess like strategy to moving to a location using all my moves with a player so that my player that had moves left could pull them into the car. I love how some dogs don’t attack and how you have to sacrifice a player to move creatures out of the path of your vehicle. Great game. Much better on an iPad because of the small space between clicking. Don’t love how sometimes you can’t undo a move, but sometimes you have to live with your mistakes.Version: 1.0.4

ITS GREAT with some problemsI came in this game with an open mind. I like this game so much and have played a little too much of it lol. I saw a lot of complaining about the game not having a lot of directions but the game is very self explanatory and also very complex, you can always find something new and when you die it has you rushing back to create a new game. I wish there were more weapons and maybe even some other things but the game is still fun. I did run into some problems with the game crashing alot but it would save progress so it wasn’t too bad just a little annoying. I finished the game with all dogs and all humans and with a little of both, they all have their perks and it’s a interesting concept. The game might take a little getting used to but I feel when you get used to it the game becomes very easy. Adding more items or more looting spots/ cars would spice the game up and might bring more attention to it but it’s a great game and the enemy’s are well thought of..Version: 1.2.2

I cried a littleAt the start of the game I didn't know what I was doing I was forced to leave someone behind, and it wasn't a happy feeling. But it only got worse. A few hundred miles later and a car appears- my friend who I'd left so long ago! But we were no longer friends, he went crazy, smashing his car, then mine- and in the end the only way to survive was to kill him. And the game never let me forget this. I would be forced to fight so many more, with so much blood on my hands. My band became killers, known throughout the land. But in the end- it didn't matter. Killers, pacifists, if you make it to the end it all goes just the same. All that blood. For nothing..Version: 1.2.2

Honestly incredibleI don’t mobile game often because I use my switch. However this, and one other game, are the only two reasons I’m keeping Apple Arcade for the time being. The gameplay itself is incredible. Each characters traits and abilities, and all the combinations that arise from them, keep your game play constantly evolving from level to level. Bit by bit you discover details that help your game progress. Is it challenging? Yes. I’ve had to restart multiple times because of one bad choice. Yet each time I’ve restart I’ve gotten further than the last. Truly a clever game that makes you stay on your toes the entire time. I feel like often mobile games don’t get enough kudos for their soundtrack. This games sound effects and back ground music are just breathtaking. I constantly find myself turning down other audio, or putting my headphones in, just to enjoy the audio of this game. If I could download the soundtrack, I would. Do yourself a favor and get this game. Also, to developers: thank you so much for doggos. Please consider adding some kitties. -a new fan.Version: 1.1.0
