Somehow I thought you could view spending totals by category and you can't, it just shows you the top 3. If they would just add that one feature it would be a lot more useful. ✓ Loading issueFirstly, I just want to say that I have been using this up for years and I really love the simplicity and ease of use. I have tried most others and none can compare. However, I upgraded from an iPhone 6 to a XS and ever since, the app has been extremely slow to load. When I open the app, it takes about 3 seconds to load my balance, then when I click on “New transaction”, it takes another 3-5 seconds to load my categories. This is extremely frustrating when I am trying to do a quick expense (which I do multiple times a day). I’d love for this to be fixed instead of adding new app color options. Strongly suggested features: 1. Add a weekly recurring transactions. I have some transactions that occur every week which I cannot automate. 2. Add a widget for quick transaction. Perhaps a small 4-5 of the most used categories along with a number pad to add transactions on the fly. As I said, I have been using this app for years now and I love it, but nothing has really changed for a long time. The history and graphing functions are useful, but lack detail so that you cannot drill down, or change the data inputs. ✓ Not good enoughI didn't read reviews first and wouldn't have bought if I had. I agree that the majority of the world has incomes and expenses that don't run on a monthly schedule. My self employed income is variable. My loans are paid fortnightly. My insurances monthly. And my utilities quarterly. A good budget allows you to allocate money from incomes for future expenses that don't come as often. Some things like memberships are annual. Some of the numbers it spits out sometimes don't make any sense, and the difference (compared to my checkbook) can vary from about a few cents to sometimes 10 dollars! Definately needs a revision. ✓ Good but...It's a really well made app, looks really nice and works well but it lacks a way to add a weekly budget which would be really useful! Also the ability to add an amount of money that you can spend in specific amount of time would be great (eg my girlfriend has a bursary fund that she gets at certain points in the year for school, so it would be great if the app had a way to show how much she has to spend per week for each amount) I want to be able to see how much I have to spend per week so I know if I'm under or over budget. ✓ Too simplified to be useful...I want to like this app but the developers are too slow in improving it and its features are too basic. After a long wait they finally included the option to customize categories. Unfortunately, you can't choose or change the icons. This app is icon dependent and the inability to change icons makes the app very unappealing to use. ✓ Needs a Checkbook ledgerMoneybook is a wonderful and visually pleasing App. It has a simple and has a graphically intuitive interface. Although I love this App it is lacking in some basic areas. First it’s nice to have a budget mode but most people will uses Apps such as these as a way to keep track of the money left in a checking or savings account (ledger). A more powerful Ledger mode would greatly increase the usefulness of this App. Second, load times seem un-necessarily long when starting the App. Additionally they need to add more categories for purchases. They don’t even have a digital media category for buying Apps or music on iTunes. I would love to see a user defined category or two with a generic image such as a money sign or check mark. ✓ Doesn't work. Doesn't make senseThis app is useless. The only recurring things you can add are monthly. And there is total lack of customization when regarding the choice for category selection. How is one supposed to incorporate daily recurring charges. Say as specific as parking costs, or food bills, and there is no list that explains anything. Just transactions that recur monthly. Also, my daily - amount is near my monthly payment, which makes no sense either. Must be a defect. If this app got a major retouch and fix I'd be happy. ✓ Inept Rollover Function, Poor Help, Obtuse InterfaceI've worked hard to learn and adjust to this obtuse interface and got everything working EXCEPT the Rollover function. It is run only once, at the start of a new month, and is NOT adjustable as you change a past month's transactions. Therefore, it is actually an impediment to allowing this app to work within a realistic world. I have had to turn OFF the function and perform the rollover myself every time I alter a past month. This is annoying and KILLS the app's usability for realistic purposes. Meanwhile, the in-app Help is awful, amounting to only a limited FAQ. I am extremely disappointed. ✓ After the update...The change for ugly, it was a really nice app before the last update, now the "bar view" shows only with the iphone in sideway position, but the main issue is: when you try the bar (sideway) it looks to small becouse there is a feature in the left corner that dosent move with the rest of the bars (so the expences's bars, are located on smaller section of the screen now) 2 - the icon its not as bright as before 3 - there is not bluehighlite any more 4 - i think thi app was relly elegant before. If you are a family it is useless, for example if you are a wife and husband spending at home it would make sense that both of you could record to the same app on your individual devices and the data was syncing in the cloud. With this app, you can create a free online account for their web client to upload your data to for better/bigger viewing of your expenses on a Mac/PC. ✓ Backup Feature Deleted ALL MY DATAI recently tried to backup my data on MoneyBook and went to the settings screen, tapped on the link under BACKUP and then a big arrow button - if a link says "BACKUP" that's what you'd expect to tap to back up your data, right??. Well the app then proceeded to DELETE ALL MY DATA WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHATSOEVER. Later I discover that there is tiny barely perceptible grayed-out text underneath the big arrow button that says "import backup." ✓ Good, but limited.This app should be $.99 in terms of function, but you are paying $2.99 for the style. The app is fast and easy to navigate and the dev's responded promptly and friendly to my questions. If all you need to do is track expenses from an account total in a very general sense, then this is a great app for you. The app allows you to input your "salary" (income / monetary starting point), and then input your expenses that deduct from that salary/income ... and that's about it. This app allows you to add custom "categories" but you cannot add custom "vendors" within any category. So, you can track that you spent $100 on "Food" but you cannot track where (Starbucks, Panera, Olive Garden) you spent that $100. You can set up "Starbucks" or "Panera" as a custom "category" so you can track how much you spent at these specific places, but then your overall "Food" expense total is off, and you have to manually add the totals together to determine your true "Food" expense, which means this isn't a complete solution for expense tracking. Overall, the app has a very stylish/polished look, but very basic function. If all you need is to track expenses in a very general way, this app is for you. It's missing one huge function for me though and that is the ability to be able to specify a day on which to start your financial month. My pay day is the 25th so it would be great to be able to set this as my starting point each month rather than the 1st which it defaults to. I really hope this is in the pipeline for a future update. ✓ Great design, little functionalityI have been using moneybook for about a week now. Love the design of it, hands down the most sylish money app on the iPhone. That aside moneybook has a long way to go yet.... Moneybook is missing very basic features such as the ability to passcode the app or to title a transaction, you can only ever attatch a note to it. I recently updated to the new version and it is great to see they have now allowed you to adjust the date of a recurring payment. I hope moneybook will read these reviews and use them to make there app the best. ✓ Hmmmm....Nice UI and I guess it does what it says on the tin, but sitting on the bus I've been using it for about 6minutes and feel that I've explored it in full already - v.limited, unless I'm seriously missing something. I would echo issues raised by previous reviews on the note-adding feature, and customisation for categories etc, but my main gripe is the lack of editing options in respect of retrosective expenses - eg. If I've forgotton to add an expense but remember it a few days later I can't see how u can enter that expense for the date u spent it; currently it just adds it for today. ✓ Okay, I could love it, however...Okay, so you copied Pennies, added a recurring feature, and changed the graphics. Not faulting you, it's a good idea. But the problem with Pennies was that: 1) no ability to edit expenses (date, amount, etc.); 2) no ability to customize categories; 3) no further development. Not sure about #3, but you have not addressed #1 or #2, either. And your repeating feature, while nice, is too limited for real use. Why must all repeating expenses occur on the 1st of the month? That is utterly unrealistic, and a finance app that does not reflect how people really use money is, well, ultimately a failure. ✓ Great interface but some glaring omissionsThis has got all the basics and is wrapped up in a great interface, but it's missing a couple of things that seem a bit obvious: 1) no ability to easily filter how much youve spent on a particular category over a particular time period; ie, how much have I spent just on shopping during February? 2) no ability to set your own recurring date for either outgoings or incomings; its always the 1st. 3) no automatic totalling of your recurrings. 4) I really want to be able to tap the panel on the main page that features the three most used categories and bring up a detailed breakdown page, ideally with aforementioned filtering options 5) the ability to set, say, five custom categories would be awesome. For example I don't have a car so would prefer a 'public transport' category so that I can keep the Travel category for long distance travelling. Id also like an App Store category. I don't expect the developer to second guess every single user's needs so some editable custom categories with generic icons would really help. ✓ BUGGY (updated review) Good app. Very useful. But no updates.BUG: When a new income added during the month, it doesn't affect the balance. BUG: My balance is -60 dollars, but it shows 60, without the munis. ------------------------------------------- Has a great design, and overall very nice implementation. A few notes: • No search option at all. It's a PROBLEM. • There is no option to check how many times I paid for X in a month. As well, will be wonderful to see when it was (dates). Very important for tracking your expenses. • The space for titles in Transactions is very short. Perhaps it can be on two lines, since landscape mode has already a role. • Please add more icons for categories. • In the landscape mode, I don't understand the concept of colours. The Help section diesn't provides with an answer. • Add percentage on the Overview screen. Possibly on the arrow; on its left. • Perhaps you need to add somewhere a small note "turn to see … ". • Recurring expenses – make it possible to define a range of months (6 months payments, etc.). ✓ Get another app...This app only allows tracking expenses/income to one account. if you have multiple accounts, credit cards, savings/checking, this is not the app for you. it looks nice, but all that glitters is not gold. save your money and track it elsewhere..IeiVersion: 0

✓ Possible Improvements RequiredThe problem with this app is that you need to specify what date reoccurring debts are taken out of your account and on what day you get paid. This app assumes all debt are taken out and that eneryone is paid on the first of the month. Also you need to have the function of paying money in, instead of just out. But saying all that I love the look and fell of this app. Its just the functionality lets it down..Key.MickVersion: 0

✓ It's priceyThis is a relatively expensive app, especially when compared with other similar ones that do much more. I am expecting some great things when the updates come along. It needs to be more flexible with budget dates; my "month" doesn't start on the 1st.
