✓ Decent Minesweeper GameThis app is a fairly good minesweeper game with a couple of annoying problems. The worst problem is that you can't save. Even if you exit the app for a second and then come back, you have to start all over. Also, when you lose the game an annoying dialogue box pops up which sometimes prevents you from seeing what you did wrong (which can be frustrating if you just spent the past 10 minutes playing one game.) Other than that though, this app is fine..Version: 1.10

✓ Best Minesweeper app, but...Personally, I think this is the best Minesweeper app on the app store. However, I feel the new "pop-up" ads are an underhanded way to "persuade" you to buy the paid version. I have a 3GS running iOS 5, and it's slow. I'll go to click on a tile, only to have an ad pop-up right before I touch the screen. Then I'm spending time getting out of the app store from purchasing an app I don't want and back to minesweeper. That's the only reason I gave it two stars..Version: 1.15
✓ AddictiveI used to play this game all the time. Great app until it was time to update which said would fix bugs and now adverts for other games take up the whole screen every minute!!.Version: 1.15
✓ Ads gone wrongUsed to be a simple app. Ads at the bottom of the screen. It did one thing -- Minesweeper. Now it's unusable. In the middle of a game, I'm suddenly kicked to the App Store to view an app like "letitgo". No warning, no full-screen ad that I accidentally clicked on -- just tossed into the App Store. Makes the app unusable. Never know when I'm going to be dumped out of a game..Version: 1.46

✓ Great except for one thingNice visuals and the ads aren't too bad, but the scrolling really slows my game down (when you scroll too far to the side and it bounces back). Any way to disable this and make it a hard border? Could just be iPhone though. I'm ditching this for the one of the less-nice-looking-but-no-bouncy-scroll alternatives in the App Store, as it really doesn't let me play as fast as I'd like because the bounce back makes me have to wait before clicking again, or else avoid hitting the wrong square..Version: 1.15

✓ Crashes & Bad user interfaceRegularly crashes when going to a new game, forcing you to view an ad when you restart the app. Good for maximizing ad views. Not good for users. An already bad user interface turned awful with the addition of popup ads in the middle of a game. If you are racing against the clock, forget it. (Haven't seen this happen lately) Press and hold to place a flag is too slow to use on a regular basis. Flag mode helps that; but it is awkward to switch between modes, and you can't clear a single square while in flag mode. If you accidentally place a flag, erasing it is a pain, as you have to click twice to pass through the useless question mark. As you pan across the board, it would be nice to have a clear indication that you've reached the edge, such as a bright border. And then there are no statistics such as top scores or averages. No comparisons with other players. Even the help section has a bad user interface. Standard gestures don't work to flip pages. There is no way to go back one page. And what the help shows for a cleared square that is empty (white) is not what you actually see in a game (blue)..Version: 1.40

✓ Good but...I love this game, loads, I'm addicted, but it keeps on closing the app and opens the App Store trying to persuade me to purchase an app, it makes me want to not play it. ✓ MehWhy call the game Ultimate Minesweeper when it's just standard. I've played more advanced ones with metal detector power-ups etc before. It's free so I wouldn't normally complain but there is a bug whereby the incorrect number of mines surrounding a cell is displayed (note to devs: it happened on the bottom row). Free or not, it needs more bug-testing, and to drop the misleading 'Ultimate' tag to get 5 stars.Version: 1.15

✓ Advertising grumbles...Hard to get a game like Minesweeper wrong and this is a great version and while I don't disagree with advertising on the Free version it's infuriating when you have a good game going and an ad pops up, you accidentally hit it and the screen freezes on a loading screen (the splash screen every time to switch back from another app is unnecessary and irritating by the way) meaning you have to shut your phone down to restart. Like I said ads are expected in a free version but when the coding is sloppy like this I wouldn't give Optime my money just to be rid of it..Version: 1.15

✓ Stupid adverts!It does what it's supposed to do, until an advert pops up halfway through gameplay and you accidentally click on it. Then it tries to load the advert and your timer is still running low, then you can't do anything. Annoying!!!!.Version: 1.15
✓ Limited screen size a minus.Your basic minesweeper game. Two negatives. 1. Anything more than an easy game needs more screen than the iPhone has and forces you to constantly scroll the screen. 2. You can't beat the game by just finding the safe squares. Unlike the Windows version, all mined squares must be marked to win..Version: 1.10
✓ A potentially good app but with many drawbacksIt could be an enjoyable app but a couple of things are not too clever. First, opening the game. Another version of this game I once had on my computer in the early 1990's (before the days of apps) would always open with a few squares exposed, so that you could always reason a way to the solution. This app often opens showing one square, and opening another (purely by guesswork, obviously) often hits a mine. Also, one can sometimes clear all but two squares and be left with two squares, one of which is clear and one a mine, and no way of determining by reason which is which. So the game ends with a 50-50 guess. That is not how the game should work and it's most annoying. Almost every time I open the app I am greeted with an advert for some silly children's game (for kidults) called Final Fantasy XV. It is necessary to wait before the (absolutely tiny) cross appears to enable one to move to the game. Clearly the system isn't designed to realise that I AM NOT INTERESTED IN THIS STUPID BLOODY GAME!.Version: 1.46

✓ Just one problemMinesweeper ought to be an exercise in logic and deduction. Alone. However this version starts off as a game of pure chance with a completely blank canvas. A degree of blind stabbing in the dark is required before the player is able to expose enough info to make meaningful progress. Often enough all lives are exhausted just getting started. A similar problem later on too. Sometimes the player has reached a situation wherein it's really not possible to determine which of two or more mine layouts lies beneath the remaining skin, and guessing is the only option. Shame, as I would have given this 5 stars otherwise..Version: 1.10
✓ Adverts are annoying!!It does everything you'd expect Minesweeper to, until the adverts pop up and you end up pressing a square you meant to put a flag on because it interrupts the game at random. Other than that, it's really good..Version: 1.15
