Keynote for Negative User Reviews

I want to give it 5 stars but I can’tBecause more often than not the UI disappears and I can no longer work, and I have to quit and reopen and that RUINS workflow and it’s a productivity app so if workflow is broken is a productivity app it means that app fails to do the only thing it is meant to do, which makes it unreliable therefore obsolete and useless. 1 star until you fix this..Version: 13.0

Almost....I have been using apple since 13 years back, and they came up with the app Keynote. I loved the app until the cooler feautures only started becoming avaliable for newer apple devices so they were basically forcing you to buy newer devices to get the features. This is also with a bunch of different Apple apps. I wish that everyone with devices new and old could use Keynote equally..Version: 11.2

Can’t see presenter notes when using Keynote LiveHuge oversight here by Apple. You cannot see your presenter notes while using Keynote Live unless you’re connnected to an external display. I use my iPad to control a Keynote Live presentation where people are tuning in online via a link to the presentation. Since I’m not connected to an ‘external display’, I cannot see my presentation notes. Ridiculous. It would be nice to see something similar to the ‘rehearse presentation’ while actually presenting to those tuning in online to the Keynote Live presentation link. Also, it would be great to be able to write on the presentation while giving it and have those viewing the presentation be able to see the annotations..Version: 5.2

Good, but could be a lot betterThe app is solid. But, it could be so much better with very little imagination and effort (especially for the soon-to-be trillion-dollar company that makes the iPad Pro!). For example, Keynote needs drag to select. Long touch at a particular spot to activate selection mode and bring up crosshairs. Drag the finger, during which a dotted rectangle dynamically follows to show you what you are selecting. Lift finger, and all items touching the rectangle have been selected. Upon lifting finger, show popover action menu. This is pretty straightforward, and countless other apps already do it. The current approach of selecting one item at a time while keeping another finger on an "anchor" item is silly and slow for slides that have many graphical objects. Keynote developers need to work with OmniGraffle for a day. I get it that Keynote probably doesn't want to be as intricate as OmniGraffle with multitouch, but still.... there are some basic things (like drag to select) that could be done so much more intuitively and creatively to truly capture the magic of touch interface..Version: 3.2

Fix the rotate feature!!!There’s a lot of great things about this app, but let’s be honest, Apple, you’ve really really dropped the rotate feature on this app for iPad. In theory, it makes sense, use two fingers to rotate the object to the direction you want and yes I know how Apple loves multi touch features. However, this one is down right annoying!! It takes you waaaaaaay longer to rotate something than it needs too. I have been trying to rotate an image for 20 minutes! I just can’t grab the image to rotate it. A lot of times the same thing happens when you want to move an object too. It’s like the app doesn’t recognize the fact you’re actually trying to interact with it. So please, please, please add a rotate button to the images and objects you’re working with because it’s very frustrating when you’re trying to do a 1 second thing and it takes literally 20 minutes..Version: 5.2

Not so goodThis would be better if there was easy ways to get a new slide and be able to acses things.Version: 13.0

Needs be have full functionalityI'm using this on the iPad Pro 12.9" and still do not have full functionality. My biggest complaint right now is that when I am linking slides, there is not an option to type the slide number. I have to scroll through a pop-up list of numbers and now that my work is 400 pages, long, it takes too long to scroll the entire list. A fill field to enter the slide number or being able to use the navigator pane to link elements to different slides would be incredibly useful. It's incredibly frustrating to spend so long on such a simple task..Version: 12.2.1

AmazingI love it! I have incredibly high standards, so the 1 star means there's a lot of room for improvement :P.Version: 12.1

Fix thisCrashes when trying to connect as a remote. Useless.Version: 12.0

Love the program, butI have been using Keynote for years, and I recently traded my MacBook Air (2017) for a 4th gen iPad Air and now I can’t seem to pair my iPhone 12 Pro to the iPad to use as a remote. I’ve been using Keynotes as a training tool for going on three years now, and the inability to have a remote is hindering me greatly. Even Apple Support couldn’t figure out why this is t working..Version: 11.1

Pretty good but a few negatives...Keynote is a great app, because when I got my iPad I did it need to download it, as it was already there. It’s also a great substitute for PowerPoint. But I do have a few problems. >I can’t add text boxes. So I am unable to write all I want. >Themes are very limited. I wanted an essay sort of one and the only ones that were suitable for my information was a ‘dark’ theme and that didn’t go well with my topic. >And it’s very hard to use, so honestly PowerPoint is much easier to handle, but Keynote is already on your apple device so it’s just right there. >It’s not very reliable. Crashes quite regularly and some of my presentations haven’t been saved..Version: 5.0.2

Keynotes ReviewI’m a teacher and I use it all the time for lessons. It replaces the need for an interactive whiteboard in most cases. However several things that would significantly improve it as a teaching aid. 1. Enabling it to link to a PDF, Page Document a Numbers Spreadsheet and calendar item. 2. I cant find how to go back one animation ? Without starting the whole slide again 3. Blanking the screen to white would also be extremely useful so you can write onto the iPad directly new information onto the display. If not just a blank screen function. 4. Freezing the screen to the external screen would be awesome too. (I know this would be a challenge but come on - you do work for apple !!!! Come on guys make this the best Presentation app out there !!.Version: 5.2.1

Love Keynote but remote options terribleKeynote is a fantastic app but it is let down by its clunkiness around remotes. Takes ages to try and setup your iPhone or iPad as a remote and then when you do it is slow and jerky and you risk skipping slides. Should just connect but s real pain..Version: 2.5.2

AnimationsThis is the best app to use for animations me and my friends are making a massive animation of the Rowan of Rin book but the only problem is, is when you use the create path and your trying to use speech bubbles on that sort of character and the problem is you can’t see were it is and also to create a path it seems that you have to press really hard and it really annoys me. Btw I was going to give ur app a 2 but the animations gave it an extra push up 😄.Version: 5.1

User Interface IssueUsing Keynote with my daughter having chosen it over PowerPoint as I’ve used it extensively on desktop. Several times now the main controls that run across the top of the screen have disappeared and —despite expecting it to be the result of a modal interaction, some learnable gesture to return them— they won’t return unless we close down and relaunch. Searching online for the issue or definitive UI instructions have proved fruitless..Version: 5.2.1

Keeps glitching making me exit randomlyIt makes me glitch while designing , it makes me exit randomly while designing.Version: 13.0

No OpenDocument Format support.Unsurprisingly, “Keynote” has no support for the OpenDocument Formats, such as OpenDocument Presentation (“.odp”), despite the fact that such formats are widely used by countless individuals, companies, organisations and even governments around the world... Fortunately, I have recently discovered that Apple’s direct competitor natively supports the OpenDocument Formats, and their respective applications implement such support flawlessly. I would love for nothing more than Keynote to be my “go to” presentation application - for one thing, we need more competition in the productivity software space - but without support for the OpenDocument Formats, I simply cannot rate this more than a single star at this time..Version: 5.2.1

YAY! An update after asking for alpha key...Wow apple, you've really listened haven't you!! Now yes, I know you don't get everything you want in life, however, I think this is cruel! 😭😭😭I thought you had listened to the review, and so you released a update for it, but NO! Just bug fixes - no alpha / chroma. Please apple I am asking you just for 1 tool that's part of keynote on Mac OS - alpha key!! Once you release an update for it, I'll give it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐! It's that good! I really love alpha / chroma key! And I'm sure others do too!! So apple, I hoped you have listened to my comment, and I really hope you do add alpha!! Thank you Apple!! PS. Sorry for being a bit grumpy, and the bug fixes are good too! Phew!.Version: 1.7.2

BuggyUsed to be good, it worked well but recently there have been so many bugs it’s just unusable. I am unable to do anything because every time I paste something the app freezes and crashes. Also editing transitions also crashes the app, this never used to happen. Absolutely terrible now needs to be fixed!.Version: 11.1

Love the App BUT unable to insert multiple picturesI love using keynote but for some reason it seems you are unable to select multiple pictures at one time to create a slide? I go to the add pictures tab and it only lets me select one and then i have to go back in continuing the process. Can this be fixed so you can select multiple pictures and insert at the same time?.Version: 4.2

Great, But...This app is great, but the only problem is when you try to upload a keynote to google drive or google classroom, it doesn’t send the actual keynote. You just see a PDF (pretty sure). This is really bugging me at the moment as I have been trying to get the keynote, with all the animations I’ve done, onto google classroom..Version: 5.2

Keynote Remote is VERY buggyI’m trying to use the Keynote Remote on my iPhone and the Presenter’s notes are VERY buggy. Try inputting a text that you’ll need to scroll and you likely won’t be able to reach the end of it as it keeps jumping, to the point of where the Presenter’s notes stop responding to touch input. Afterwards, you are stuck even after switching slides. Then, the only way to get out of this problem is to stop the presentation entirely and try again. Come on Apple, you can do better than that..Version: 12.2

Frustrating to use after updating to iOS 14Use my iPad for most things, including creating my digital planners, and I sort of regret finally updating my iPad 6th generation to the iOS 14 so soon. Keynotes, among many other apps, seem to randomly close out and won’t open for anywhere from a few minutes or longer. There’s nothing wrong with my 6 gen, other than it’s roughly in its second year of age as I purchased it as soon as it dropped. Not a scratch, dent, smudge, nothing. It’s been in its case since it came home with me. Can’t possibly be from the treatment of the hardware. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️ Very annoying..Version: 10.2

Keynote“Can’t connect with helper applications” same is happening with Pages....how can we use this app to work if it does not work, and there is no support??? Unbelievable and Unacceptable Update 3/12 - after a rather long wait with apple support, they were able to help.....for all of you....google drive doc are causing problems while tryng to open pages or keynote documents.....solution: move doc from google drive to iCloud and problem solve...Apple and Google will have to find out what is happening there...increase rating to 3 stars...might update in the future....Version: 3.3.1

Dimmed FilesAll of my files are dimmed on Keynotes. Including the old and the new. Apparently that means they aren’t compatible, which is ridiculous because I was able to open them on Keynotes before. I can’t even delete or manage any of my files. I’m very unsatisfied..Version: 5.2.1

Je peux pas écrireIl me dise de faire une mise à jour mais il n'y a pas le bouton update.Version: 3.2

Problem importing photosI use keynote on my iPad on a regular basis to hold meetings virtually. It worked perfectly at first, but for the last 2 months I’ve been having trouble importing images, the image I chose just blinks and it won’t open, I’ve tried restarting keynote, restarting iPad and everything... just won’t work and I have to spend a lot of time. very annoying...please fix this bug!!!.Version: 10.2

Just quiteGood but takes up a ridiculous amount of space.Version: 2.2.1

Storage and crashingThe app is great and all, and i really appreciate the transitions and animations for school projects..but sometimes whenever i choose a theme, it changes completely to the point where it has a similar colour as the theme (the background), but its not even the actual theme. and storage? i constantly keep redownloading and deleting the app, while restarting my ipad to download it again after i had to delete it because of storage. but i can't even download it BECAUSE of storage. i can't delete anything else, but can download other apps. my keynote files aren't even that big!.Version: 5.1

Something Is WrongWhen I first stared using Keynote it was perfect; so I purchased it. Since then it has gotten progressively worse! Every time they update it..about three hundred times seems like..it gets worse. It hangs, it can’t fit the screen the way it use to. Also it doesn’t place the object on the canvas properly most times. I know it only cost $5.00..I think.. but it was worth more when I first bought. There are no ads when you buy it. It was a great app two years ago, now it’s almost worthless. It is better than most PPP’s out there but it’s acting up so bad I’m forced to look for another; sorry guys.🙂.Version: 5.2.1

Ok, but unusable for what I’m doingI’m trying to make lectures for my class and the Apple Pencil works well with Keynote. As I present my presentation I add annotations so I can do our math problems. Unfortunately the ‘done’ button is near where my right hand will rest while making annotations. This clears the screen in the middle of the annotations, making me start over. Also, there is no option to keep the annotations once you are done with the presentations. I like making the slides in keynote better than PP, but I can keep the annotations in PP and not have to start over since there isn’t a done button in PP. the pencil doesnt work as well (switching colors brings down a drop down menu in PP where it appears at the bottom in Keynote) but starting over because I bumped the button is infuriating. I managed to waste a good amount of time and have nothing to show for it. If it’s possible to move the colors and done button, that would be great but I haven’t found anything about it so far..Version: 10.0

Halfway thereStill crashes out doing some things. Have a 5 slide PowerPoint, trying to add transitions to it and with 2/5 slides the application crashes as soon as I go into transitions. Needs a bit of work still. Mostly functional, but can get quite annoying with the crashes..Version: 1.6

Photos don’t upload properlyKeynote has the ability to be the most important app I use. However, it takes about three times as long to use it as it should. Photos will not insert properly into my presentations. I’m using an iPad and iPad Pro and both of them have the same problem. When I go to insert a photo nothing happens. I have to click through other pages and come back to try again, or crash my ipad to try and get it to refresh. It’s actually a nightmare of wasted time and I’m ready to pay for a different program that hopefully doesn’t have this MAJOR glitch..Version: 10.2

Colour dropperWhy is the colour dropped doesn’t seem to work? When I click it and drag the colour of the image to the background it’s not working. Can someone tell me how to do it? Or is it a bug that needs fixing?.Version: 11.2

Fonts and templates missing?I love keynote on my Mac, but just tried to play my presentation on my iPhone and it told me the fonts weren’t available so it’s completely messed up? I then chose to create a new presentation on my iPhone but the templates are not the ones currently available on my iMac. Is the app due to be updated?.Version: 10.0

Issac Chicken PorkNot good.Version: 13.1

Ugh, nothing seems to be where it should beI’m so used to apple products being so intuitive, yet this version of keynote is the worst. Nothing seems in the correct place. The insert text box is in with the shapes? So, I hunt for a long time before I find it because who would look there. The “more” tab is just everything but the kitchen sink. And things seem grouped in ways that don’t feel coherent. There should have been a lot more thought put into the organization of menus. And I think they should be somewhat comparable to where they are located with the desktop program. I also seem to constantly click the option menu and erase something I’ve just done..Version: 10.3.9

Good, though presenter notes could be strongerI love using Keynote and do so regularly. It’s great that I can now use special formatting in the presenter notes, such as bold, italics, different colors of text, etc. I do that because these are easy-to-see symbolic reminders of things I need to do during a presentation. What’s frustrating, however, is that, when using my iPad as the remote for my iPhone for a presentation, all of that special formatting disappears and the text is generic! All of my symbolic reminders are then useless. So, what’s the point of being able to use these features when creating the presenter notes if they’re not going to be visible when actually giving a presentation?.Version: 5.2

Well...Keynote is a wonderful app which allows you to create a stunning presentation for work, school and also for fun. One of the problems I’ve got with Keynote is the fact that almost EVERYTIME I go into the app and press onto a presentation, everything shows up BUT the actual slides! Basically, all the mini slides on the side, the tool bar on top, etc. show up, but the slides don’t. This is VERY frustrating and no matter WHAT I do, I always have to turn off my iPad and turn it back on again, then go into several different apps before it turns back to normal. Another problem is that I would like more variety of shapes, fonts and etc. to improve my presentation, as I think the variety right now is pretty bland. Please reply back, as I’ve read many other reviews and you guys almost NEVER reply which I think is bad customer service. Thanks and no hard feelings..Version: 5.2.1

Easy to set up presenterI usually use PowerPoint on my Mac but also have used Keynote on the Mac as well. On the ipad keynote works well and it is useful for me to be able to give table top presentations directly from my ipad. This is very helpful for small groups. A significant disappointment is that once you set a theme for a presentation you cannot easily change to another theme. This needs correcting urgently..Version: 1.7.1

Great app, but update removes support for physical remotes and keyboardsA great presentation app that’s easier to use and more visually distinctive that PowerPoint. Unfortunately, the latest update breaks compatibility with non-Apple remotes and physical keyboards, meaning that you have to physically tap on the screen to advance slides. Fine in certain circumstances, but no good if you’re presenting to a large audience and don’t want to be chained to the iPad. Hopefully this is just a bug that will be fixed in a future update, but it’s hard to see how this one got past user testing since it concerns a central function of any presentation application. If this is important to you, I’d advise holding off from updating until support for remotes is reinstated..Version: 3.3

I love keynoteI love keynote it is awesome.Version: 13.0

Update 10.2 is killing my iPhone 11Keynote is a great presentation app both on iPhone and iPad. I have been using it almost daily for 6 years with no issue. My iPhone acts as the remote for the iPad. Update 10.2 released 2 weeks ago is draining my iPhone 11 battery from 100% to 10% or less in 3-4 hours. The phone is getting very hot, battery usage is showing Keynote 99%. DO NOT UPDATE TO THIS VERSION!!!! Stick to version 10.1.Version: 10.2

Document SetupWhere can I find the Document Set Up? I don’t have the functions that allow me to change the template size. Please assist..Version: 12.2.1

Latest Update ruined a great appI’ve always loved keynote. Have used it religiously to power whole church services (pun intended). However the latest update with ios11 is clunky. Several glitches, one being copy and paste now freezes. Can’t move slides around without them automatically hiding under each other as drop down options. If you copy something from safari it automatically goes to free form instead of the normal title font. Makes things much harder. Lastly you can’t search for answers bcuz if you look for ios11 keynote update, it always refers you to the actual keynote where ios11 was announced. Please fix..Version: 3.3.1

Just a few tweaks...Is very like PowerPoint, good instant alpha. Animation effects are impressive and the illustration makes it very easy to demonstrate or highlight things. I think it should have picture moves though and for all the features, takes up very little space..Version: 2.2.1

UpdateThe new update in the store won’t update spins and then goes back to update. The whole suite is doing this. I updated other apps. Can’t put this on support page..Version: 12.1

OkI guess its ok.Version: 5.2.1

KeynoteKeynote is an okay platform but my 6 year old child started learning about this app when he was 4 and coming from him it makes no sense . I reckon this app is not child friendly as it has fire and explosives animations which scared my kid . My child also gets bullied because this app is really glitchy and whenever he shows work it will put up a different animation that he didn’t choose.Version: 12.2

Great but could use some updateI love this app but i had use my iOS on it after i had a power cut and all my apps went out so i had to have my iOS it took about an hour and i much prefer Microsoft PowerPoint and the selection letters are rubbish.Version: 10.2

Doesn't workUpdated now I can't create a new sheet, page or slideshow. All three apps useless now. Embarrassing apple..Version: 3.3.1

Trapped on the iPadApp won't let me send the presentation via any means, hence my presentation which I've spent weeks working on is trapped on this tiny screen and I'm going to have to re-write the entire thing. Looks horrid when converted to PowerPoint- colours change, letters change font..on the topic of colours, the selection on this app and it's sister app pages is horribly limited. Don't waste your money like I did. This app will cause you to tear your hair out and fail assignments..Version: 2.1

Good but ...What I first found annoying was that it took for ages to download I had no apps downloaded yet and deleted 2 that were already on there it was so annoying. Other than that it’s alright it would be better if u could add longer clips of things in it..Version: 3.3.1

Would convert over but has one major deal breaker for teachersThis is literally the best presentation app for the classroom with the best annotation support bar none. I would love to convert to this app except it has one major oversight which makes this completely useless for a teacher such as myself. This app allows you to annotate on live presentations which performs better than it’s competitors which is great… Unless of course you were ever thinking about saving those annotations. From what I can tell there is absolutely no way to save annotations made in presenter mode which to me seems a no brainer, but infuriates me as I now have to go back to the clunky MS PowerPoint just for this one simple feature..Version: 4.0

Keynote newest featuresUsing the app on my iPad Pro versus an aging MacBook Air has taken some getting use to. The UI was certainly easier on the laptop platform. Finding things like how to add a text box on the iPad is far from intuitive. There have been many benefits too but the best by far is the new feature giving you the ability to write on slides during a presentation. It completely eliminates the need to use a laser pointer. With the Apple Pencil you now just circle things or draw an arrow on the screen to show audiences what you’re referring to..Version: 4.0

Black and WhitePlease fix Keynote so the app can be white like pages and numbers..Version: 11.2

Good ishKey note really deserves a five but it’s really complicated for me because I can never really figure out what everything means and does so change that for a five star rating please 🙏 Thank you so much for your listening to this bye 👋.Version: 13.1

Can’t run it while also running pagesIt works just fine for me, and I love it, but I can’t look at my speech (on pages) while creating a presentation because for some reason it just doesn’t work. The typing slows down to the point where I can type a sentence and sit back to watch it be created. I dismiss both apps, then only bring up keynote— boom, perfect function. Bring up pages— instant lag. This needs to be addressed please, but good app otherwise..Version: 4.3

Basic Features MissingAs others have stated, dragging to select would be so much more efficient. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve had to select and reselect because of multiple layers of objects...and it just never seems to work properly. I instinctively keep trying to use my Apple Pencil to work with, only to scribble all over my work. Also, why is it that when I group objects together, I can’t link them? For example, I have font on top of a shape and want to link them both to another slide, so I grouped them. I have to link both the text and the shape in order for this to work? I’ve probably spent double the time on my project than necessary if the app just offered basic functions. It’s also incredibly frustrating that when I zoom, the toolbar blocks the top of my slide completely, so the only way I’m able to navigate small shapes at the top of my slide is to be zoomed out...but I can’t use my Apple Pencil to navigate the elements of my slide in place of my fingers!.Version: 4.1

Ur momHad sex.Version: 12.2

Works, but very slow in presentation modeOverall the app does what it says on the box, no significant issues with importing or editing on the device. Editing options are somewhat limited compared to a full desktop version but nothing critical is missing. Where the app really falls down is when you try and use it to present. The slide transition is unbearably slow, and the whole UI freezes for seconds after each slide. There's even a red light to show its thinking. This makes presentations of any rapidity or flow almost impossible, especially if you have to go back a few slides for some reason. Would be a five-star review if slide transition was e..Version: 1.5

Give us the option as to how we use our pencilI have ruined and spent hours trying to do what i use to do in much shorter periods of time. All because now the pencil is just a writing tool. Where i could move small items before using my pencil so I could see what I was doing I am now I’m moving things below because my fingers are too large to see what I’ve selected. Give us the option to use our pencil as a writing instrument or as a tool for placement and precision. Seriously. I think we are smart enough to know how we want to use our over priced Apple Pencil. disappointed with the update, wishing I hadn’t hit that button. You got 2 stars because I still enjoy Keynote but as mentioned the update stinks..Version: 4.0

Doesn't deserve a single starLatest update (automatically uploaded without the option of a preview) has lost a number of display functions and will not play nicely with powerpoint. It has corrupted an existing file, losing several weeks work. Yet another useless update which has done nothing more than waste memory and made me even less inclined to replace the current ipad, which has lasted a fraction of the time of its predecessor which was made obsolete by equally pointless updates..Version: 3.2

Problem with remoteI have used keynote for years and have been using the remote from iPad to control the presentation on a various macs. In the last couple months I have been having issues when I present with my notes pushed down on the screen and frozen so I can’t scroll them up. It is very frustrating. I use it every week to present and I have no idea what to do. Up until the last couple months I would have given keynote a 5 star..Version: 12.2.1
