GoSkyWatch Planetarium iPad for Negative User Reviews

Version 8.1.0 is rubbish. AVOID!With IOS 9.3.5, I hoped that this app would get better. It got more tricky to use. The direction sensing is not working at all, whereas older versions were fine. The calibration ball pops up, but when I try to calibrate it, it disappears! So the compass is useless now. Changing the time seems more cumbersome now, and you have to close the time adjustment to move the sky, otherwise the sky spins uncontrollably. It is a hugely useful app, but it is disappointing that things have got worse not better with time. Even the look of the icons looks less professional, in fact it now looks incredibly cheap and naff. Has this company been bought out? I can't believe the same people are in charge, this is so rubbish. A great shame; I think some heads need to roll..Version: 8.1.0

Previously great now ruined by advertsTitle says it all, adverts covering screen content, daytime colours in night time mode (red screen) so ruins night vision and screen freezes when new advert loads. I get that developers want everyone to buy the paid for version but ruining this one is not the way to do it.Version: 9.4.0

CrapAt least you should've made the ads go red for night vision instead of blinding you. Otherwise if I wanted to try viewing stars at night I could save my time and take a flashlight and beam right into my eyes which is exactly what the stupid ads are doing. Worthless and blinding have other apps better than that.Version: 7.1.1

Calibration doesnt work any moreUsed to be really good, but the calibration doesnt work anymore. I have taken my iPad out of its case, tried all the moving it around and still its not working. Needs to be resolved as this use to be a really good app and there’s no way i will upgrade to ad free, if its as bad as this.Version: 9.4.0

Annonces au basDéguellasse! Les annonces Google sont inappropriées!.Version: 9.4.0

Works in your house to?Doesn’t look like it uses the camera to locate constellations hmm.Version: 9.4.0

Hate ads. Hate this app.Deleted straight away..Version: 9.2.0

ReviewThe directions are never correct..Version: 9.0.0

Toich the skyI love this app and the fact that it works everywhere. The mysteries of the universe are at your fingertips. It is very interesting and informative..Version: 8.1.0

What is this?I meant "why do I need a title for a review", but it fits - it's I very non-intuitive. You can't see how to get to see stars' names (not displayed), how to stop gyration (if you misunderstood a brief offer to do that) how to ... The only thing you can't miss is the offer for a full version download...! The best thing about this kind of apps is the is easy to elected them ....Version: 8.1.0

Crap appEast points west, shows the sun is in the east but it’s 10 o’clock at night, it says my location services is turned off ( it is not ) , when I manually type in my city and state nothing happens, no location correction. Don’t bother with this app..Version: 9.4.0

Would love to give this 5 stars but...... While it's a great app for amateurs and professionals alike, I do grow tired of being expected to pay twice for apps if I would like to use them on my iPhone *and* iPad. I no longer purchase apps that force this (there's always an alternative that doesn't), but I bought this when I only had an iPad. If this doesn't concern you, it's well worth the price. The only niggle I have with the interface is that you can't centre on an object by tapping on it. You need to scroll around to it - not a big deal..Version: 6.0.0

Great app ads ruined itI have owned this app for a long time but it is distracting and useless now that there are ads... Extremely disappointed that after paying so much for this app that they would do that. I dont want to use it anymore and would appreciate my money back..Version: 7.1.0

IAds ruined the appIAds have ruined this app. I wish I had read the reviews before updating! Night mode is now useless..Version: 7.0.0

Search Functionality Stopped WorkingThe ability to hold & move the iPad to find planets, stars, etc. no longer works with the latest updates!.Version: 9.2.0

Useless, compass does not workPointless app when the compass constantly changes and doesn’t know which direction the iPad is pointing. I know the direction of north, south, east and west, unfortunately this app doesn’t. And yes I have tried taking my iPad out of the case to prevent interference and it makes no difference..Version: 9.4.0

Permanent bright white adUseless. Even in night mode there is a permanent bright white ad that completely covers the bottom of the screen. Say goodbye to night vision. Deleted..Version: 9.2.0

Ads? You are kidding right?Good app. Except for the ads....Version: 7.0.0

Does not know east from westVery bad.Version: 9.2.0

GoskywatchpGreat app but very poor accuracy in my region at least. Auckland New Zealand.Version: 4.7.0

UselessI have tried this app from Georgia to Texas. No matter where I go, or what I do, this is what I get when I bring up this app. The "compass interference" screen comes up and tells me to move away from the interference or move the iPad in a figure-eight. I have done more figure-eights than an Olympic figure skater, with zero results. I have never seen this app WITHOUT the compass interference screen. Behind that, blinking, is a "location not set" screen. I think that is what it says, it is hard to tell behind the "compass interference screen." Of course, the buttons on the location screen are not responsive, since they are blinking behind the other screen. I have had this app for four months, and that is all I have ever seen on this app. I am deleting it now, and, needless to say, I am NOT purchasing the $10 version..Version: 0

Too many ads that ruins your night vision!Change the ads color from white to something dark!.Version: 9.4.0

Too bad because its a cool appIf you want to have a Google banner permanently at the bottom of the screen this is the app for you.Version: 9.4.0

Made less useful by advertisingThis used to be a fairly useful program if you didn't need the extra features of the pro version, but adding adverts has made it harder to use at night - they often have bright backgrounds or lettering which impairs night vision. I may eventually get the pro version even though I don't need most of the features, but this sort of use of advertising rankles; usually adverts don't affect functionality, this time they do..Version: 6.2.1

I deleted this app when they introduced adsIt kind of defeats the purpose of having night-mode when bright ads pop up along the bottom of the map. So disappointing, I really liked this app..Version: 7.0.0

Does not allow me to choose location, and does not automatically set location. Otherwise interesting.Does not allow to set location on an ipad3 and does not find location automatically though Wifi and internet working. It shows 90 degrees off in longitude. Frustrating but nice if it works Terrible moon seen 90 degrees above horizon, app shows moon below horizon from a San Diego location.!! No way to calibrate! Waste of time ,.Version: 9.4.0

Interesting, But Very BuggyThis app is interesting, but it is spoiled by a couple of serious bugs. 1) The map orientation cannot stay aligned correctly. North can be displayed as anything from North to South, and it wanders away from its initial setting (which is usually quite wrong) very quickly. 2) After a few minutes of use, the map locks completely, and can only be moved manually. re-starting the app does not restore functionality. The app has to be deleted and then installed again for automatic map movement to return. Then after a few more minutes of use, it will lock up again. I have tried using this app over the past few years on an iPad Air 2 and an older iPad Mini. Operating systems tried have been iOS 8, 9, 10, 11 and Beta builds of iOS 12. it has problems on all iterations of iOS..Version: 9.0.0

Ads destroyed itSo upset..Version: 9.4.0

No nighttime mode on free versionThe app portion supports night mode but the ad banner is like staring into a flashlight.Version: 9.2.0

How the hell do you think ads will work in dark modeHappily supported and used the app, now they insist on ads being very visible...happy to have supported the previous version...but now you have a red night sky with white ads...you guys just stuffed your own app.Version: 9.2.0

Sky Watch App.Installed and pointed at the sky. What I am looking at is not what I am being told. I know what Orion looks like and it is behind me..Version: 9.2.0

Horribly InconsistantI looked up the current position of Mercury to see how many days it would be visible in the evening sky. But when flipping from month to month using the time tool, I noticed that the distance between Earth to Mercury would vary between 1.3 AU to 0.8 AU in January, 2018 and 1.2 to 0.6 AU in February. Worse, the app would automatically jump to current time, even though the time displayed at the top of the screen never changed. The app has some fun functions with calculating light traveling from distant stars, but now I have doubts that any of the information given is actually accurate..Version: 9.0.0

Ads?I really liked using this app and wouldn't mind paying for it just to get rid of the ads..Version: 7.0.0

Useful but imperfectAds make it difficult to use at night. In addition, not as useful for historical use (ie. for writers) because it doesn't take the Gregorian calendar shift into consideration, rendering all historical dates in the Gregorian calendar no matter how far back. For example, Nov 20, 1510 is said to be Sunday and not Wednesday, as it clearly was..Version: 7.1.1

Getting worse, not betterI've had this app for years. In it's early stages, it was brilliant. However, since the previous update it has become progressively buggy, less stable and less accurate. The old app of years ago would track the sky seamlessly and only required calibrating upon first opening the app. And it would point in the right direction all night thereafter! But now it does not. It jerks around and when it finally settles down, cardinal points are often a long, long way adrift of reality, sometimes well in excess of 90˚ and even up to 180˚ – and I'm still going to the same dark sky sites I did when it behaved properly! To make matters worse, it now requires recalibration every few minutes, triggering the 30 second advertising banner, EVERY time. A cynic might suggest there is a link between this constant need for resetting and the deliberately irritating (and far too bright) advertising banner – which may perhaps go some way to explaining the growth in app size as well as the jerkiness. This used to be a clear five star app and probably the best of the genre – and when it works, it's still the best in terms of graphics. But it's becoming VERY frustrating….Version: 9.4.0

Not badAds suck. Compass is never better than +- 15deg but it is ok for free version.Version: 9.2.0

Ruined :(It was a 5... now 3. I wish I could get the old version back... Or pay to remove the ads? It used to be one of my favourite apps!.Version: 7.0.0

Ads ... so sad!!!This was the greatest app very until it was ruined with bright, annoying ads popping up on the bottom of the screen. Seriously, do you really think while star gazing, anybody is going to click on an ad for Candy Saga!!!!! Darn shame. it's ruined..Version: 7.0.0

Great app untilThis was an awesome app that got ruined by the ads..Version: 7.0.0

So much potentialI haven’t been able to use the ap for some time as the compass and calibrations just won’t work. I used to love this program. I’ve tried everything to get it to work.Version: 9.4.0
