GoSkyWatch Planetarium iPad for Positive User Reviews

CoolThis app is awesome, so much fun!!.Version: 4.7.0

GoskywatchGood program. Would be good if included red screen feature so can you outside without losing night vision..Version: 4.7.0

Great app!Very intuitive, zero learning curve, and actually very informative, (if not downright cool!) to use such a wonderful tool as an amateur astronomy fan. A wealth of knowledge is available, but this app doesn't overload the user with excessive information. A great bridge between the amateur astronomy fan and more advanced, academically disciplined, professional astronomers. Interface is well thought out, the app is stable, (even on a first gen iPad,) and an extensive amount of options and settings make it very cool to motion track the night sky...as well being able to "see" the heavens during the daylight hours. Obviously, if hooking up a laptop and telescope and data tracking are more your level of interest, you can PAY for apps like that which are far more advanced and extensible. This is a good educational tool at a great (read: free!) price!.Version: 5.1.0

Perfect use of technologyMaybe I'm late to the party. That said, my wife and I were sitting on our patio in the Arizona desert, staring up at the night sky, and arguing over what the name of a particular was. I pulled out my iPad, downloaded this app, and was completely stunned as it transformed my experience of the stars above me... No instructions needed. I simply pointed my iPad at a star and the app showed me the same star on my screen, with a wealth of information. This is great software...simply to use, intuitive controls, and leverages the technology built into the iPad like geolocation and motion sensing devices. Brilliant..Version: 4.7.0

InformativeNice app, easy to us good night mode for use while night viewing. Simple to use. Wifi required to make full use..Version: 9.2.0

Go skywatchersSeems to work well with orientation, once calibrated, accurate especially with the Venus in the night sky - will need to wait til we get out into the country to have a good look at the constellations.Version: 4.7.0

Very CoolLove it. Simple to use. Very informative..Version: 9.0.0

EnchantingI wish we had a climate that encouraged lying on your back looking up at the stars with this gadget running on the iPad but sadly, Scotland's winter weather isn't all that hospitable. Still, winter is when we get the clearest night skies (we have a very short and light night sky this far north) and this makes it a joy if you're wrapped up warmly. Only four stars so far because I think they could develop the search facilities a little more by persisting search names in the search box if you flip between say, constellations and planets (some of us don't know which of the well-known names are stars and which are distant constellations or nebulae. The 'Go to' could be a bit more reliable. However, this is a treat and while not as graphically slick as Sky Walk, it's more informative, at least for an astronomically undereducated sky watcher like me. Well worth the few quid, less than the price of a pint and longer lasting - absolutely great fun..Version: 4.7.0

Nice stuffNormally you get what you pay for, but in this instance you pay nothing and get the visible cosmos in return. Bravo..Version: 6.0.0

Great app with lots of useful functionsIt's free and no ads! Been using these type of things since celestia. So many additional functions. Ie, Goto, in the information button, pick the planet, star, etc and hit the Goto button and a little arrow comes up on the target to guide you there; links to wiki for more information; night and day modes; change the date to look to the future or past; highlights the constellations; shows the orbits and horizon (N, S,E, W etc). Great little app and I couldn't find a better one, otherwise I would mention it. Thank you for a great effort..Version: 4.7.0

GoSkyWatchP reviewI like this app very detailed and easy to use as well.Version: 7.1.1

Very happy with itI am in Australia and it works a treat. The navigation is easy and obvious. The search function is a great way to find particular planets, stars and galaxies, and even highlights which are visible from your location. You can set the time in advance to see what the sky will be like in the future (which was handy when planning a stargazing night). If you want to find an object in the sky, or identify something you can see in the sky, this app will do it (at least for the naked eye)..Version: 6.0.0

To Sky WatchThis is an awesome. Sometimes I just go home and look at the stars. Well worth the money. I can't wait for more enhancements. Perfect for anyone interested in space..Version: 6.1.1

AmazingFun and easy to use. Turn the detail up under settings to be blown away how many stars this has..Version: 0

BrilliantA brilliant app for finding stuff in the sky. No background music, but it does it's job precisely and efficiently. It feels as if it was designed by some one who actually uses it. There are loads of little things about that are good and just come together to make a functioning whole. Great app!.Version: 6.0.0

AwesomeJust tested it out up here in the hills where there are no lights and a clear sky. It showed the sky and each star I pointed it to it showed its name and what part of a constellation. I pointed it at the moon and there it was, on the screen, the moon. I cannot believe it is free. I would have paid for this..Version: 0

Great appGreat app and learn a lot from it. It's become my everyday new toy..Version: 4.7.0

Works likes charm and pretty accurateEverything it Says it is. Keep up with the update.Version: 4.7.0

Great VisualisationThis is a wonderful app to use to introduce family members to astronomy. Just enough info and clear star charts..Version: 9.4.0

Very good !Super.Version: 7.1.1

SkywatchersAbsolutely amazing. First time I've ever been able to find something in the sky other than the moon!!!.Version: 4.7.0

Excellent space appGreat wee app for studying the stars.Version: 5.1.0

UnbelievableThis is simply unbelievable app as it takes you to a different world. Well done..Version: 5.2.0

Simply FantasticI'm not sure what the difference is between this and the $5.99 version for iPad. I got this free version and it's simply amazing. Me and the kids were outside last night identifying all the stars and planets which we were never good at before. Highly recommended..Version: 0

Has everythingThis app is amazing to use simply because it has everything you would want for navigating the stars and to find there origins and any other useful information you might want to know about the sky's from our earthly planet..Version: 5.2.0

Very coolsThis gives a very detailed and precise map of the sky. It is well made and I love it. Thank you to the brilliant people who created this..Version: 5.1.0

Best I've SeenEveryone who has spent a late summer evening in the backyard lying down stargazing (wondering which one is that? How far away are those little points of light? Which planet is visible right now?) should have this app. It's easy to use, gives an amazing amount of information. We love it!.Version: 8.1.0

Really we'll doneI am an amateur astronomer in the suburbs and after some testing have come to favor this app for my needs. One of its best features (for me at least) is the ability to dial in the limiting magnitude for viewing in your area. It also adjusts the brightness of the objects on the screen, too. For example, a magnitude 3 object is very dim if you have dialed in that as the level of your seeing, but if you have magnitude 5 set as your threshold that same object will appear brighter on the screen. This helps make the sky on the iPad look a lot more realistic when you look out at your own sky and try to find things. Just one of my favorite features of this app..Version: 6.2.1

GoSkyWatch for iPadFantastic interactive real time point-and-be-amazed planetarium.. With as much or as little information as the user wishes to display, with links to information throughout, i found this intuitive and very easy to use. Much better than google sky map..Version: 6.0.0

The best appI’ve had this app for years; it’s a great learning and reference app..Version: 9.4.0

Top ratedOf a lot of Astro programs I’ve looked at this has to rate very highly. As an active astronomer and astrophotographer it is just tops for seeking out targets for observation and photography. Additional data is also in depth and useful. The graphics of this App are exceptional. It has to have a 5 star rating from me. DVW..Version: 9.4.0

Amazing app!I can't believe this app is free!! It's one of the coolest iPad apps I've seen so far and I love it! I never take the time to write reviews on here, but this deserves it! It's fun for any age and it's neat to learn about all the stars, plants, and constellations. I like that you can adjust how many stars you want visible on the iPad screen, ranging from only seeing major planets and stars, to seeing every star and planet in the sky. It's hard to imagine any other features to add because it's free and it should be $50, but if they wanted to add something they could make it sink up with the weather and visibility for where you are and the app would know how many stars to show on the screen based on your area's weather conditions. It's definitely 5 stars and one of my favorite apps!!!!.Version: 4.7.0

GreatThis is a great night sky app at a fantastic price! Just moving the ipad around the night sky and stars and planets are instantly identified. I have to recommend this - if nothing else but to answer those questions about the brighter stars and constellations in the sky..Version: 0

MarvenWhat a great app. It works so well and is so easy to use. All I need it to do now is deter the mozzies so that I can spend more time outside of an evening enjoying using the app..Version: 4.7.0

Great as a free appThis is a great app. The night mode comes in handy as you are looking at the stars. There are a couple of things I would change. Using the digital compass as a control works great, until you zoom in. When zoomed in, the compass is overly sensitive and I find myself jumping around the chart while I am trying to focus on a single star. It would be nice if there was a quick toggle in one of the corners, or touch and drag would override the compass control until a large movement was made away. All over I think this is a great app for the casual astronomer or the person thinking "Hmmm, I wonder what that star is?" but not for a precision astronomer like myself. With a few improvements, I'm sure I could give this five stars..Version: 0

NBCOver all its a nice app, but. I use other planetarium software on PC Both of which use or display the messier and Ngc catalogs, Messier numbers are all the same and I'm used to looking for and finding Ngc names, but this program uses sir Patrick moores Caldwell list, which these other program's don't use, they are both the most common planetarium software program's I know, if this program could match the names it would be a 5 star superb app and make my life a lot easier.Version: 6.0.0

AstonishingSome years a go we were sitting in our ( country ) backyard looking at a bejewelled sky with our hoky little Powerbook1400CS, thinking about all those lucky people with high falutin' scopes tied to powerful laptops and tracking motors that told them what they were looking at etc etc. We wished we had a device that could just point and tell. This was 4 - 5 years before an Apple tablet was first rumoured Now along comes the game changer of the iPad, and we have all of that in the palm of our hand. Can't get over the internal compass, and its accuracy. If a gyro finds its way in, who knows what additional power will come forth I think you get the idea we like it and recommend it.Version: 0

Great astronomy appAwesome app, I use this a lot. A good feature I think it should have is the ability to zoom in so you can see more, other than that, best free astronomy app I've seen!.Version: 4.7.0

Speechless after using this app!I don't know what to say. I've never been one who concerned myself with constellations and astronomy. But after using this app I'm completely blown away by what is above me each day. I got this app after my wife asked me about constellations. I could point out the Big Dipper (I'm from Alaska) and Orion, but that was it. I downloaded and tried out this app after seeing the great reviews and I'm just floored with how easy and awesome it is. ANYONE can use it. And it's got a wealth of information there that'll keep me busy for months. More importantly, my mind is opened up and I am now completely fascinated by the stars. Wonderful App! I hope more people like me end up trying it..Version: 4.7.0

NiceIt is very nice, however, there are to many advertisements interferring..Version: 9.2.0

AmazingAbsolutely amazing app. I wish it existed when I was a kid.....Version: 4.7.0

AmazingIncredible.Version: 9.0.0

Great appUsed for a few years, really easy to use and amazing what’s over your head day and night..Version: 9.2.0

Fantastic appThis app is just amazing. The best thing is being able to use it in the day to see what stars are above you, and even being able to 'see through the earth' to those on the other side. With the planets included to boot, just plain brilliant..Version: 4.7.0

Simply perfect - thank you Universe!Thank you so much for this wonderful App. I live in Australia and it works a treat. It has everything I could wish for. It is truly a piece of superior art and craftsmanship..Version: 6.1.1

Point it at the sky!Hold your ipad up and point it at the sky like a viewer and it gives you a window on the universe. This may sound obvious but I had to read the FAQ to work this out! I'm supposedly an astronomy teacher and this will be a great help whenever anybody expects me to know what some random dot in the sky is..Version: 0

Absolutely amazing. The app is brilliant, once you get the hang of using it, you can find any star or planet or cluster, or your own starsign in the night sky..Version: 4.7.0

Wonderful AppI used this so many times driving around the country and being able to find the stars as seasons changed. Using one night with my grandchildren made them star watchers..Version: 9.4.0

Wow!What a great app! Genuinely cannot find any fault with this...it really encourages me to geek out over astronomy even more. I'd love to see this app have additional features such as 3D models of solar systems or galaxies, plus more information about planets and stars. If you have even the slightest interest in the stars above, get this with out question!.Version: 4.7.0

Fantastic app, educational and so much fun!Exactly what I was looking for and so easy to use. Many interesting and useful features to utilize and all for FREE! Can't get much better than that!!.Version: 4.7.0

Remarkably Comprehensive for a Free AppI thought I would down load the free app, see what it was like and perhaps get the paid app later. That day is yet to arrive, the free app is so good. It will let you view planets, stars, galaxies, clusters, nebulae and constellations. It will help you find specific stars with a really helpful feature that guides you to them. With this App, a pair of binoculars and a clear night you can have great fun doing a bit of stargazing..Version: 6.0.0

The best App available today! So brilliant - absolute quality for either kids getting into astronomy or adult astronomers needing a quick reference. Amazing, mind-blowing technology - really, you just hold it up against the sky and it identifies everything in range... it can even increase brightness (and thus quantity of stars you see) based on the smog or cloud cover you have. Should be App of the year, no doubt..Version: 4.3.0

Excellent appGreat detail and easy to use. Will definitely be buying the full app. Perhaps an addition could be to add in satellites so we can spot them too..Version: 0

MrVery nice app.... Love it.Version: 5.2.0

Stunning! On every level, this "app" is an incredible achievement. I don't even know whether it is fair to call something like this a mere "app". Augmented reality, incredible graphics, full use of the iPad's orientation sensors, education ... It's all there. Quite possibly the single most impressive download offered by the Apple store, and it's completely free!.Version: 0

Fantastic. Gets the kids interested in astronomyTonight the kids were able to see the planets in the sky without a telescope, and got interested in the constellations etc. Highly recommend this app. It's fantastic!.Version: 4.7.0

Star GazingWhat an amazing ap! This makes the stars and sky information so accessible even my six year old can operate it. The whole thing is so intuitive and simple to use. The configurable settings are fantastic even to the point of adjusting star brightness to allow for background lighting such as street lamps or the moons brightness due to phase. The hot links to wiki make the whole Knowledge aspect come to life. Knowing how far away each star is is great. Thanks, Sean, Sussex.Version: 5.2.0

Amazing AppThere's a lot of information packed into this app, and it works great..Version: 9.0.0

Fantastic appEasy to use and very useful for those who are not so sure what they are looking at.Version: 4.7.0

Excellent astronomy appExcellent astronomy app has everything I need love it..Version: 9.2.0

Hugely usefulI've tried a variety of astronomy applications and this is by far the one I like best. There is a substantial amount of information, it is easy to use, it's responsive and there is a wide variety of settings. I'm only a novice at looking at the night sky, but for me this has been the ideal introduction. I don't hesitate to recommend it..Version: 5.2.0

Great app!Very beautiful and fun!.Version: 4.3.0

A must have appThis simple to use app is wonderful for identifying any major night sky items. Very accurate and helpful for all ages.Version: 8.1.0

What a brilliant app! This has got to be one of the best free apps. The information and clarity are really good. Viewing the night sky here in New Zealand is just wonderful..Version: 6.1.1

Amazing appSlick, effective and free, perfect..Version: 5.1.0

Starstruck!I was really confused when I first saw this, but once you realize it is truly point and shoot, it is superb. And the level of detailed information about planets, stars, constellations is spot on. Jupiter is in the skies above uk at present, the closest and brightest it has been for 40 years, and this app makes it easy to find and track. My daughter is enthralled by being able to identify the planets as they pass by and we are addicted sky watchers now. Excellent app, one of my faves now. /nev.Version: 0

Great little appEnjoy using this with the kids.Version: 4.7.0

Star mappingIt is a great game!!!!!.Version: 9.0.0

Wow!!!!!!!!!This is unbelievable!!!!! Got it for free on the iPad and was so impressed gifted it to a family member as well who is equally amazed!!! For that little bit of extra info on the stars on a clear night download this app!!! Well worth it for under £3 would pay a lot more!!!!!.Version: 4.7.0

A great applicationThis is one of the most satisfying apps for the ipad. It is clear, easy to work with, delivers much, and is free. Thank you for a great piece of work, it is highly recommended. My night time gazing is improved and my armchair gazing is now exciting..Version: 4.3.0

My favorite appMy favorite app for spotting dso's.Version: 8.1.0

Great app!Out of all the apps I have, use this one all the time works great and easy to get an understanding of the night sky..Version: 9.0.0

ShaneOutstanding app. I have paid a lot for space apps that don't even come close to this. It is hard to believe that an app of such high quality is actually free, full compliments to the developers for making such a superb product..Version: 6.1.1

Been using this for yearsIt is brilliant, so far as i am concerned only one release was poorly received, so different from almost every other app. Perhaps it is inevitable that adverts are becoming more invasive so you buy the ad free app. On one hand I get it, on the other i am son of scrooge. Although i have used this for years i don't use it very often 3 or 4 times a year..Version: 9.0.0

Cool !!!!!!Will done !.Version: 5.0.0

Chris GunnFantastic clarity, and so simple to use. I particularly like the fact that it encourages me to stand outside and face the objects I am identifying, rather than sit in an armchair and simply scroll around maps of the stars. I can identify a planet, a constellation, a galaxy or whatever with the iPad, and can then move it out of my eye line and know that I am looking at exactly the right part of the sky rather than (as I am sure I have done many times) spend half an hour staring at the wrong area and wondering why the stars are not where I thought they would be. ... It's like having the great Patrick Moore as a companion every time I step into the garden in the evening. Excellent, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes to look up when it's dark..Version: 4.7.0

It's a great appThis is a great app for checking out the night sky! It seems to do everything that you need in an app like this, and it has heaps of information on the constellations, planets and stars. My only problem now is finding a clear, light-less sky to use it!!.Version: 4.7.0

GoodBest app cool but adds should be gone.Version: 7.1.1

Great educational aidMy daughter and I love using this app to identify the stars in the night sky, by holding out at arms length it adjusts so it is showing us what stars are in view. This would be a great companion for someone with a good telescope..Version: 4.7.0

If you have kids you must get thisAs an educator of kids it's fantastic, I've actually got my kids looking in history books for thinks of the year that the light started out, they then run and tell me and have ZERO idea that they are actually learning..Version: 4.7.0

Awesome appDownloaded this for my son who likes to look through his telescope at the stars, thought he could just point at the sky and find out exactly what he was looking at. Well all I can say is this is a must have app for kids as it has info about every star in the system! Truly awesome and fun and educational..Version: 5.2.0

OMGOMG great app you guys are amazing im so surprised it's free.Version: 0

InspiringI am a complete novice stargazer, but this app makes finding and identifying stars/planets so easy. Just point it up and explore. It makes such a difference knowing exactly what is shining at you (just saw Venus, Jupiter and Mars from my garden). No problems in location/orientation adjustment yet either. Well recommended!.Version: 4.7.0

Star Gazers SupplementIf you love star gazing. This is a great app. to help you find those illusive constellations. It has a full 360 degree view. Just point in the direction you are looking at and see the stars..Version: 4.7.0

Greatest app for anything sky relatedI use it all the time, day or night.Version: 9.0.0

Absolutely amazing.I was looking for something to help me identify the stars and planets I was looking at in the real night sky - and this does that and so so so much more..Version: 4.3.0

Amazing! What a fantastic app! I had no idea the iPad could do that. I live on a farm and have an amazing night sky, always wanted to know more about it. I tried books and charts but so tedious. Now I can just point it in the direction. I am happy I bought the iPad even if it was just for this app. DOWNLOAD IT.Version: 0

Really nice update!I've had GoSkyWatch for a long time now, and the new update really shows off the retina display of the new iPad. I think I'll be using this app a lot more now that this update has come through..Version: 5.0.0

Helpful appWorks great. Very easy to use. Very helpful finding things in the night sky..Version: 9.4.0

Stunning and intuitiveGreat app, highly recommended, just be sure to enter your location manually to get the best results. Check out the date feature; set it to an earlier date and can see what the stars looked like when you were born!.Version: 5.2.0

I love thisSo so realistic.Version: 4.7.0

Simple and powerfulGreat app and great for beginner stargazers. Can amend the light levels so only shows what you would actually see above so not looking for things you can't actually see, important for the city dweller. Other aspects set it apart as well but will limit review to my favourite thing.Version: 7.1.1

Great AppLove it. It gives tons of information, helpful and easy to use..Version: 8.1.0

GoSkyWatch 4.6.0Fantastic!!! Best program of its kind that I have found. The more I use it the more I discover things that it is capable of doing. (Like tracing out the sun Analemma as a function of time.) I input my own location with a high degree of accuracy and find extremely good accuracy in everything else that it calculates. I find the accuracy of the program to be Impressive. The display is very realistic as to the relative brightness of the stars and constellations, just the way you see them. You are to be congratulated for creating such a versatile program. Being able to choose between ordinary time, the mean solar day or sidereal days is very useful. In fact, that is what allows you to see the Analemma traced out over the course of a year choosing the time for displaying the result by a simple flick of your finger..Version: 8.1.0

A must-have app!Just could be more accurate sometimes but still is a great app!!!.Version: 4.7.0

AmazingForget looking it up online and then working out angles and other calculations... This does it all... Terrific for youngsters, so easy to get them interested in the solar system.Version: 4.7.0

Still amazed how this worksNo matter I am...inside or outside... it always works. It's quite fantastic how much info this app has and how accurate it is. It makes me happy when I can find stars and planets just by using it. Yay!.Version: 8.1.0

NiceIt is very useful and easy to use.Version: 7.1.1

Go Sky WatchEasy to use, great for gazing at the sky and wondering what is out there day or night; even look through the Earth!.Version: 6.0.0

I am VERY impressedThis is perhaps the greatest single app I have ever used. One hour with this app last night, answered decades worth of simple questions I'd probably thought about for a few moments, but never bothered to even put into words. For example, I never knew that the sun and the planets were (more or less) following the same trajectory in my visual plane, but now that I can see it, it makes perfect sense. I always wondered why they sometimes appeared close together in the sky (when you can see them). They're all rotating the sun roughly around it's equator, so it would make sense that from Earth, we can see their position along a predictable path. This app grants the viewer a newfound visual perspective of their surroundings. You'll get a better sense of where you are and how things are moving. This app is fantastic!.Version: 6.2.1

A joy to use and learn fromI have a few star watching apps but this is the best to use. Easy and intuitive and I use it every night to try to learn more about the night sky. Los Angeles doesn't have a lot of the sky visible because of the air and light pollution but I'm lucky that I live a distance from some of it. I love the options and scan the sky looking for planets, major stars and constellations. Took me a while to notice there was an option to limit visible only and explained why I couldn't find some stars that I knew by name but didn't show up. Highly recommend this to anyone, even if it just whet your appetite for something with a little more sophistication , but I'm not there yet and from what this has to offer, it will be quite a while..Version: 8.1.0

Best appFunctions even without wifi! We were on the beach and was a blast..Version: 7.1.1

Armature astronomerGreat App when I am stargazing. This App let's me know what planets I am looking at..Version: 8.1.0

Sky skyI love this app it will be fun because it is fun and helpful for planning when you should use your telescope..Version: 9.2.0

Mrs MacdonaldAbsolutely amazing free app!! My 7 and 5 year old daughters are mesmerised by the accuracy and ease of use....and to be quite honest so are mummy and daddy. Creating loads of wonderful family memories gazing at the stars on these cold and frosty winter nights and to top it all the children are actually learning at the same time. Love it!.Version: 4.7.0

Great !Truly amazing little App. Would like to see the 'Go To' Button a little closer to the left edge of the screen as it's a bit difficult to reach when you are holding the device. Also the said menu at this side could be a little larger as it can be a bit fiddly using the small menu buttons. Also Further close-up Planet and objects of interest from the point of your location would be good. Apart from that it seems fine, however I am sure other expert Star Gazers may have found other improvements that could be made to the App. Keep up the good work with the App! If this does not make you feel like a humble earthling nothing will. Bring on the Warp Speed technology so we might stand a chance of saying hello to somebody out there one day..Version: 0

GreatReally clever. I'd like to be able to see better images of planets etc. To be able to double click them to see them larger, and also have a choice to read up More about them..Version: 0

Go Sky WatchIs a great app with ease of use and great views of planets and stars. It also lets you get information Of all the different planets. Where they are How far away from earth as well as how they Got their names which draws you into Mythology And History! A very interesting and easy to use app!.Version: 7.1.1

Awesome appThis app is amazing. Only one thing, it can't find my location so I have to put in closest city. I live in S Western Australia so had to put in my own co-ords. Great for seeing what's in the night sky and lots of info on planets, stars and constellations. Thumbs up.Version: 4.7.0

Top AppI wanted to find out what the 2 distinct stars near the moon were tonight and downloaded GoSkyWatch. What a brilliant app! The brightest one was actually Venus and the other one was Jupiter. That has made my day! Thanks for making such an incredible and informative app :).Version: 7.1.1

Compass shows wrong orientation on iPadI can’t get the compass to show the correct orientation. I have removed the iPad cover and that makes no difference. I have given the app a specific location. The app is very frustrating..Version: 9.4.0

SuperbGreat app highly worth having on you iPad it's great being able to play with it indoors.Version: 6.1.1

It's AMAZING 😊😊This app is REALLY good because it shows you real-time positions of the planets and stars, which help with location in the sky. It also has TONS of interesting facts and pictures. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in astronomy 👍.Version: 8.1.0

A great app for enthusiasts and amateurs AlikeI found this extremely impressive and was handy because I just got a powerful telescope. It's a good way of showing kids about the stars and solar system and they like using it as well..Version: 4.7.0

Mr WilliamsonThis is an awesome package holding a great deal of information and what makes it even more special is that it's free!.Version: 9.2.0

Amazing appI found this to be a very comprehensive tool for watching the sky. Lots of info is available and it's easy to access. Handy graphs that show the hours of visibility and position in the sky. With this app, a good reflective telescope and a clear night, there shouldn't be anything you can't find..Version: 4.7.0

GoskywatchExcellent program for relaxation and learning. Intuitive and rewarding in its use! A wonderful journey into science for my grandchildren and fantastic trip back into Astronomy for myself!.Version: 5.1.0

Really cool. Both my 12 yr old daughter and I love this App.Version: 6.0.0

Amazing appSo nice to be able to point my iPad at the sky at night and get information about the stars and planets. We get so few really clear nights here in London UK, but when we do, it is great to be able to to get back in touch with what ancient mariners were able to do - identify the heavens. Thanks for a great app..Version: 6.0.0

Great App!Awesome app. Works great. Well thought out. Very educational..Version: 9.2.0

Great AppThis app is really good for us guys in the city who can't normally see a lot of the stars in the night sky. Awesome app, keep the updates coming!.Version: 6.0.0

RogerWonderful app I have used it for so many excursions for both biblical studies as well as Grandkids curiosity. A journey of galactic proportions and there is always so much more to find! Great work, thank youm.o.o.n..Version: 6.1.1

It's awesome ...It's a awesome for once I have nothing to complain about!.Version: 0

Great funThis app is easily one of the best purchases you can make! I have never been disappointed by it..Version: 9.0.0

AwesomeIts a grate app for those people who want to learn... And dont forget its free.Version: 6.1.1

Completely awesome! It is unbelievable to me that this app is free...incredible!.Version: 0

Billions and billions!Incredible application! Ever wanted to find the nearest galaxy, nearest star, or just what that flickering light just might be? Now you can stargaze from the comfort of your own home, day or night. Have a telescope? ... The app gives all the technical data. New to astronomy? ... Just point at a highlighted object in the display and a window opens with a description. There's a nighttime setting if you want to take your iPad outside on a clear night and not sacrifice your night vision looking at a bright screen. Constellations are imposed on the star map, so you'll be able to find the king of planets when your horoscope says "Jupiter is in Taurus." You'll also see the majesty of the Milky Way, and better understand our place in it..Version: 4.7.0

BrilliantI love this!.Version: 4.7.0

FantasticAbsolutely fantastic for anyone interested in astronomy or with an inquisitive mind. For the advanced or novice who wants a great star-finder. But, this is more than just a star-finder. It's a handheld planetarium and more..Version: 9.0.0

Top AppIf you've ever wondered what is up there on a star filled night and wondered in aw, this app is for you. It's awakened my curiosity for how we came to be and how small we are in comparison to the vastness of space. An amazing thing happen to our planet, thanks to the big bang. Who intervened and made us take our stand above all other living things from evolution?.Version: 4.7.0

Great to haveThis app really came in handy when I went to South Africa. Last year I didn't have it in Australia and was in a remote area where the stars were so plentiful. I had to find a place with WiFi and had to go back and forth and repeatedly check star maps which interferes with viewing big time! I used GSW in Cape Town from my hotel room and was immediately able to identify the Southern Cross so that I could go out on the balcony and pinpoint it right away! No WiFi needed! Even with city lights obstructing viewing ! I think this is the biggest advantage. Since it runs by GPS you can go anywhere to see the night sky and no Internet connection needed. I am not sure if the app includes explanations for the various phenomena but since I am not an astronomer, the more the better. Thanks and keep up the good work!.Version: 5.2.0

Zoom zoomWas terribly unimpressed with the accuracy of the app UNTIL I realised you need to pinch and zoom in a LOT as well as increase brightness to see get the app to match what you see in the sky. My 5 year old son and I have just identified Orions belt and Jupiter and he thinks it's the bees knees! Not sure if it is possible but it would be great if there was an auto zoom feature that could zoom approximately to the correct magnitude..Version: 4.7.0

AmazingAmazing app. All I have to do is point to a star I see, and it tells me all the information about it, and the surrounding constellation. I cannot suggest any improvements to be made. Therefore the perfect app. Thank you..Version: 4.3.0

Cool appGreat time with the kids!.Version: 9.0.0

Star locatorThis is a great app, i found skyorbs compass crashes the program all the time so i tried this one instead, though i am still getting used to using it, i find it very good, my only issue is that i would like some easy way to lock onto the discovered area, but that might just be because I am not used to using this app yet. Thank you for developing it.. so some way of locking or making a note of the information, to take a snap shot or memory or note of where you have located something of interest, would make this a more useful and powerful tool..Version: 6.0.0

Stars are fascinatingThis is incredible. Finally technology meets imagination and here I am in my late forties pointing my iPad to the sky with my kids. As a kid, looking at the sky with a blurry telescope, and a flashlight to barely figure out a chart, and not ever being sure what we were looking at....it kinda sucked. My father who knew nothing but pretended, ultimately was unable to back up our collective fascination with the sky with any technology that worked. I was around 6 and fascinated by the Apollo missions. I question the Apollo missions today as propaganda rather than reality....but the stars around us are amazing, and it's awesome to know what you're looking at! Thanks iPad and Stargazer for making it easy!.Version: 4.7.0

Incredible!!!I usually don't write reviews but after getting this for my ipad, but I felt compelled to share my thoughts. This is probably the best, most informative app I've ever seen. I literally just had my 5 year old son outside (up past his bedtime!) looking up at the stars, planets, constellations or whatever else we could discover. I even had to stop him from looking out his window tonight by promising to show him the app tomorrow night! This is truly an unbelievable learning experience which I will be sure to share with my family for years to come. Great job!!.Version: 4.7.0

Cardinal pointsI really really like this app. But can you fixe it please? :) It would be great. The cardinal points are not at the right place :(.Version: 7.1.1

ImaginationI live in the city and don’t get to see the star at night with all the light contamination, but with this app, me and my daughter we get to travel the Milky Way. The app is simple fun and great for the more demanding skywatcher or just the newer ones..Version: 9.3.0

FantasticJust a great app, I love it, my wife loves it and my daughter adores it!.Version: 5.2.0

Great App, Has Ads, Small FontsGreat app. Not a fan of ads though. The font is a bit small for reading planet and constellation names; would be nice to set a font size..Version: 7.1.1

Just very very good.I've used it worldwide now for a short time and the time adjust and location adjust functions allow for an unparalleled usability in comparison to other free apps. It's great having the image views able to be removed, but when my son wants to know what I'm looking at its great to easily re-instate hem..Version: 8.1.0

FantasticEver since I loaded this on my l Pad mini I have not stopped telling people about it..Version: 6.1.1

Most impressed by this oneVery intuitive interface, stunning graphics, pleased I found it.Version: 5.2.0

Love itGreat app. Love it!.Version: 9.4.0

GoSkyWatchp reviewThis app does everything I was hoping for plus more. Works perfect and easy to use. 5 stars all round. No need to look at other apps this is the one you want..Version: 6.1.1

So far it's greatI just got this last night so that we could take our new Orion Starblast 4.5 telescope put for a spin. At first I was disappointed with the app because it was not stable meaning the display would drift around. I experienced interference at first and occasionally afyer start up, and no matter what I did it wouldn't go away. But then I thought maybe the Ipad cover (just got a cover with what I realize now is a magnetic latch) was the problem and lo and behold the interface went away and the app display stabilized. We were able to then ID many stars and even locate Jupiter. We used the app to help guide us, as beginner astronomers, around the sky. I think this app will be great fun for a long time.Version: 4.7.0

Fantastic! This app is wonderful for those who simply enjoy looking up at the night sky or who are intrigued by how the universe was formed. It is very informational and easy to use..Version: 4.7.0

L’inspiration des étoiles!Merci pour cette application qui nous fait découvrir l’éternité !astro66.Version: 9.2.0

Yep.I like space. Keep it coming..Version: 0

AwesomI think this is awesome, I have the free version and the only remark I have is that it's not clear what extras you get with the paid version, i'll probably buy it anyway one day to support it if anything.Version: 6.0.0

Amazing and free!Didn't expect much, but was amazed at the flexibility and detail of this app. It is a great entertainment and teaching tool for anyone interested in astronomy. Great at night, but very interesting during the day as well..Version: 4.7.0

Exactly what you are looking forThis is the night sky app I was looking for. It knows in which direction you are looking at and will call out the planets for you. No more will you wonder what is this? Is this a planet, a star, a distant constellation? Just point the target on that spot and you will know. The only small critic that I have is that the fonts are not always perfectly readable. I you were glasses, you will sometimes have to twist your head a little bit to get the good reading angle. Just installed this app and and add a good look at the sky from my balcony. Yes, that is Saturn and Mars in the sky. I can't wait to go the country and spend the night looking at all the stars. A must have on all iOS devices!.Version: 8.1.0

Like itNot quite sure if I understand it!.Version: 9.0.0

Stars starsI have ever looked at the stars and understood which ones were which, this app really helps you understand what you are looking at in the night sky. I would recommend this app as it is great to show your kids and friends..Version: 4.7.0

An excellent app, but could use a view finder. As an enhancement a "view finder" window showing the rear camera view with a cross-hair would be fantastic. It only takes a minor position shift with the iPad to be looking at a different star in-app and it can be very difficult to see if you have lined the i-pad up with the star you are seeing in the sky. I'd even pay for this as an in-app purchase..Version: 4.7.0

Great Tool to Learn Astronomy and AstrologyThaks for this app..Version: 9.4.0

Feature packedGreat app. Point it at the sky and it tells you what you're looking at. Select a planet or star from the menu and it will guide you to find it in the sky. I know nothing about astronomy, so there may be better apps out there, but for a novice star gazer like me, this app is perfect..Version: 4.7.0

Great appGood job, this is an amazing app....Version: 4.7.0

I love thisRealy great app if your into astromony or want to learn what and where is in the sky. Take it out at night and match up the stars and planets you can see on screen with the night sky, it changes to what direction your look, perfect, one of my fave apps by far..Version: 0

Wow great app exactly what I was looking forI was looking for an app that I could use for photographing The Milky Way at a specific time, date and location. Looks very useful. I haven't had the chance to go to a remote location. One suggestion would be a choice of different views of the sky. Such as how we would see it if you know what I mean..Version: 6.0.0

Brilliant!Used the app for the first time this evening to identify the planets that are currently in such close proximity and therefore so easy to see and was blown away at how good the application is. The interface is great and easy to use and easily conveys loads of information, and night mode renders the screen is shades of red to preserve night vision. The only minor issue we had was that although we chose to let the app use our current location when we opened it for the first time, it didn't register that we are in the UK and showed our location on the west coast of the US. However, this was easily changed manually and once correctly calibrated on the iPad 2 the app was a revelation: my kids and I will be using this a lot more in the future!.Version: 4.7.0

Must have ApplicationI love this App! I tell all my friends about it. I no more have to wonder what that big bright star is in the sky. Thanks to this beaut app I now know that it is planet Jupiter! It's fun learning constellations in such a visual and easy to learn manner. Definately worth the buck... Go on and order yours now!.Version: 4.7.0

MrsLove this app.Version: 4.7.0

Brilliant! After looking at stars for years and using many packages, this was quickest learning curve ever. It has so much to offer for novice and old hands alike. I was looking for a reason to own an ipad. This is it ! Brilliant app..Version: 5.1.0

Awesome night watch with GoSkyWatchThis app makes it super easy to answer the question "Is that a star or a planet?" or "What star is that?" when looking up at the night sky. The app locates your position on earth and shows all planets, main stars, constellations and near galaxies in real time. Fantastic!.Version: 8.1.0

Pretty AwesomeI have not tried any of the other astronomy apps yet but this one is really quite good and the kids can just about figure it out too. There are some really nifty features such as being able to set how dark your sky is so that it only shows objects you are likely to be able to see. You can also make it show how the sky would look at different times. My only complaint is some of the user interface could be a bit more intuitive - eg touch an object to get its information instead of having to drag it to the center or rotate the ipad towards it. It would also be nice to have it show the sky map inverted i.e. If the iPad is laying flat on the table (instead of being held up towards the sky) east and west should point in their respective directions..Version: 5.2.0

👏Great but can you add some of the things the full version has or just lower the price to like $1.24 instead of what it is now like over 5bucks otherwise pretty good..Version: 8.1.0

Amaziing appThis shows the whole night sky and with the built in compass it moves with you as you point your iPad at different parts of the sky it shows you what you pointing at. History of all the stars and constellations through wikipedia. Will find planets, stars constellations, galaxies if it's in the sky this app knows where it is and will point you in the right direction. Get it if you've always wondered what was happening in the night sky..Version: 0

Auto Direction IncorrectMy location and time is correct, but when pointing to the east the app says that is south. It is off by 90 degrees. Also, i had paid for the upgrade on my previous ipad so that I could get rid of the ads. How do i get that version back?.Version: 9.2.0

Personal path to the starsA amazing look at the cosmos, a reminder of the good old days racing through warp space. Now I am grounded on earth without a ship ( starship that is). The whole family spends many a night on the back lawn stargazing - but thanks to this amazing APP we now know what we are looking at. The great thing about this APP is we are using a gadget and gadgets normally stop real world interaction, but with this one. We sit/lie together outside, under the night sky, star gazing and chatting and learning just how lucky we are to live under this awesome sky in awesome south western Australia where the stars are so bright in our perfect night sky. Thanks from us for this amazing APP..Version: 4.7.0

You will not be disappointedI am still new to iPad/anything Apple. I have been somewhat disappointed by many of the software offerings. This is one of the very few that lives up to the potential of the the iPad platform. Excellent for finding that celestial body you've been trying to locate, or even looking ahead to a future date to see when your favorite planet will be visible at night again. This is an outstanding offering; I am surprised it is free. Thanks for a beautiful and entertaining and useful program! Now, if Apple would allow print to PDF over AirPrint, and add NumLock.......Version: 5.0.0

Fantastic for the kidsThis is a fantastic application. We can lie in the yard in the dark & can now name the 'pretties'. Only bad thing is your arms get tired holding it over the kids heads ;-) very very fun..Version: 4.7.0

Fantastic and funLove being able to name stars and planets. But I'd like to be able to refer tot them by their Māori names. Add a utility that allows me to add their Māori names..Version: 4.7.0

Great appLove this app, great for finding stars for celestial navigation, especially for those of us with less than perfect vision..Version: 4.7.0

Good stuff!I teach earth/space science in middle schools and am an avid skywatcher. Really, it doesn't get any easier than this app. This really comes in handy to show my students that the stars and planets are there during the day, we just can't see them. Also, being able to see "through" the Earth and explain that people on the other side of the world are experiencing night and show my kids what the sky looks like to them. The fact that it's free is very nice. Too bad the iPhone version isn't also. But hey, this version free in the classroom and pay for a personal version on my phone... That's ok, I understand it..Version: 4.7.0

New to Apple. Love it!I freakin love it! Please quote me if needed. Thank you..Version: 4.7.0

Fantastic Demo for the Sky Observer AppA fantastic application for demonstrating the full potential of the iPad device. It is an intuitive tool for connecting anyone with the night sky, anyplace on earth they may be. I would be nice to add data from the NASA and JOL sights for live artificial satellite tracking, identifying and pointing out objects as they pass overhead. Adding data for transient astronomical events, like comets and visible nova might be nice. Maybe including some more asteroids would also be good. Great job and excellent job drawing together all the talent it must have took to make this interactive sky chart possible and doing so artfully..Version: 8.1.0

ImpressiveFully utilized the features of an iPad in an impressive way..Version: 0

CoolVery cool tool, makes It very easy to locate what's is where in the sky.Version: 4.7.0

Must have!!I use this app for both astro photography and as a fast guide for when I'm using my telescope. I could now not be without it!!.Version: 5.2.0

GreatGreat app, will be 5 stars if/when you upgrade to support the new iPad's retina screen...Version: 4.7.0

Brilliant AppExcellent app, easy to follow and fun to use..Version: 4.7.0

MrAmazing software. I love it.Version: 5.1.0

Hours of Awe.This app is wonderful. My appreciation is as boundless as the sky..Version: 8.1.0

AwesomeOut of all my almost 400 apps (which isn't many) this is by far my most used app. It's phenomenal, I love it. The accuracy in the technology that is applied and the running of this app is incredible. I cannot praise it enough. It's apps like this, the reason why I bought my iPad..Version: 4.7.0

WF MaMaI love this app. My husband and I use it all the time to help us find a planet or to identify something that we see..Version: 9.0.0

StarspiritExcellent app for sky watching.Version: 9.0.0

Unbelievable! This product uses the iPad in a way I never would have imagined. A group of us were sitting outside looking at the stars and wondered what some of them were. With this app even us non-stargazers could point the iPad at the sky and locate specific stars, constellations, and even planets in the night sky. You hold the iPad screen over your head so you can see the stars and the screen at the same time. The built-in compass orients the screen to the exact same star pattern above you. Absolutely fantastic!.Version: 0

Love itGreat app good to use when trying to find constellations to view through my telescope, but keeps crashing.Version: 9.0.0

Terrific astro utility for the amateur (and pro) astronomer!I can't think of any more that one would need in a utility to gaze at the night skies. Particularly useful is the night mode so your night vision is not hampered. Well done!.Version: 6.0.0
