AmpliTube for Negative User Reviews

Ok but flawed and not as easy to use as you'd expect. This app was one of the apps I was most excited about when getting an iPhone. Although some of the amp simulations are amazing (especially the cleaner ones) the distortion pedals and the high gain amps sound fizzy and thin. It is possible to get a half decent scratch record if you're wiling to eq it a lot. It it's a bit disappointing tone wise for metal. The recording aspect of the app works incredibly well with the drum add on. The samples really do sound fantastic on the drums and you can get some satisfactory recordings. But whenever using multitrack functionality it completely seems to fail. Hiss and muddy sounds and a lack of effects on the tracks means it is only usable with one guitar track..Version: 3.0.1

Very disappointingI use amplitude plug in all the time for recording as it has great tone. This app version (iPhone and iPad- I have both) doesn't come close. It's very misleading. The actual guitar amp tone is awful, mono and totally uninspiring. It bears no relation to the kind of quality you get in the plug in. But reading the product description you'd expect a stripped down feature set but with the same sound quality. The amount of features themselves are fine - no complaints - but are rendered a bit pointless given the fact it all sounds so bad. I'd have rather had 1 sound that has the depth and quality of the plug in than all the other amps etc. Maybe it is not possible with the processing power available, but at least give us a warning of what to expect..Version: 0

What the Hell...?I am still wondering why I bought this, not much more than the free version..Version: 3.4

UselessGreat idea but waste of money. Bought the kit. Paid for app. Had it for a year. Got all the updates, still don't work. Useless rip off. Tried on a strat, les paul and acoustic with mike. I've played electric for 20 years. Wish I never wasted money in it. Rip off with added spam..Version: 2.2.2

Loved at FirstI've had this app since it was first introduced. I started using it on the iPhone 3GS, then the iPhone 4S, iPad mini, and iPhone 6. At first it was great, but as my usage became more intense, I found that the app just can't deliver a clean guitar sound. Amplitube for desktop and laptop offers some of the best clean guitar sounds, so when the new version promised the same sound engine as Amplitube 3, I was excited. My complaint about Amplitube was the dirty clean sound, and I thought this new update will fix this, however, it did not. The app sounds as crunchy as ever on so-called clean settings. I'm very disappointed, I spent a lot of money on in-app purchases, many of them on stomps purchased to create a better clean sound, and still find that I use Positive Grid JamUp and Agile Ampkit way more simply because Amplitube can't deliver a clean amp sound. Every once in a while I come back to Amplitube iOS after an update just to see if the clean sounds have gotten any better, but they do not, so I go back to using my other products, like Positive Grid Jam-Up, Ampkit and Amplitube 3..Version: 4.2.0

Voice playbackWhen I sing or rap it's not right on like the voice back microphone it delays like its a one echo I want my voice to be exactly the same as when I'm talking right now I don't want it to have a delay when I sing it's annoying I think 4th gen iPods work better then 5ths, can you guys fix the microphone back play I can hear myself when I talk though it's just that it delays it's not right..Version: 3.4

Do Not Buy!!!So, I bought this ... I also own Amplitude / Amplitude Fender ... For the iPad and iPhone ... Plus a whole bunch of in-app purchases. And ... iRig. Unlike my other defective hardware that I've purchased from them ... THIS is something I've actually been able to use ... Kind of ... It's so noisy ... It's worthless. Waste of money. I also purchased VocaLive AND the VocaLive iPad app. I even bought the crappy iRig mic. The mic is made from cheap materials that break easily. So easily ... It didn't even work out of the box. Customer Support? Forget about that too. (Read the other reviews and you'll see that I'm not the only person having problems) I lost my receipt for the iRig mic. They won't take their defective merchandise back without it. I've given them a lot of my money for worthless hardware and software that I can't even use. $20 Amplitude $20 Amplitude for iPad $15 Fender Amplitude $20 VocaLive $20 VocaLive for iPad $30 iRig $60 iRig Mic (defective) Plus a whole bunch of in-app purchases??!! Not to mention I bought the iKlip for iPhone & iPad. YOU'D THINK THAT I'D BE A VALUED CUSTOMER!!! Will I ever buy another one of their products? Nope. And you shouldn't either. Don't waste your money like I did..Version: 2.9

Great job on the interfaceUnfortunate that the iPhone and iPad are separate apps and purchases. Both look beautiful though. Pricing loses the stars..Version: 3.4

Pls fixI got it and worked great for 20 min then it just randomly decided to not let any of the effects work but yet still play the sound.Version: 2.0.2

Useless for bassI bought this as a practice aid for learning new material, wanting a more portable replacement for my Tascam bass trainer. Sadly, a complete waste of money. The sound is just horrid - I don't think it can handle the low frequencies. If you're a bassist, take a pass on this..Version: 2.2.1

Not up to scratchAgree with the comments made re the upgrade The iPhone app causes my phone to freeze and the app won't close, sound quality poor too much background noise, higher gain setting and effects seem to affect the track distorting the sound. I am also getting bit disillusioned with the apparent policy of charging extra at any opportunity. Drinking in the last chance saloon I'm afraid IK Multimedia please get your act together..Version: 0

Version 2.0 free upgrade is broken! BewareThis app that i was happy to pay $20 for was working great until I installed the free 2.0 update. Now the app DOES NOT WORK. The recorder will record but there is no sound from the amps or effects anymore. I've contacted IK Multimedia support and received no response. Do they not care? I can get my money back from Apple but I'm still stuck with a useless $40 iRig. I also get prompts asking me to buy the additional master effects pack and when I cancel them they keep popping up and eventually I can't exit the program and have to shut my phone off! I thought maybe it was my phone but noticed on the apple website there is a slew of other people with the same problem. It's like Apple has given me a virus that forces me to buy an upgrade or my $20 app is otherwise rendered useless. I'm furious Stay away from 2.0 upgrade until they fix it..Version: 0

Sounds ok, but different version for phone and pad = annoyingQuite a limited range of effects available unless you start making in-app purchases, but enough to decide if you think its worthwhile or not. personally i’ll stick with what comes bundled, as it’ll be plenty for having half an hour’s quiet practice with headphones. i find the output via headphones a little muffled whatever settings are used (i have tried several sets, all good quality). Major annoying point - i grabbed this on my iphone 5S, and when i went to install it on my iPad, which is what i’d mostly use it on, i found there was a separate iPad version costing twice as much. yes, the phone version works, but come on…! ok, my bad for not delving deeper into the store, but i feel kind of ripped..Version: 3.1.2

Waste of moneySound quality is poor. Lots of popping and hiss. Using it to record anything other than a throw-away sound clip is a joke. Flanger effect makes hardly any alteration to the sound... almost none of that typical jet airplane sound. The 4-track recorder aluded to in the write-up costs an additional $10; this is after spending around $80 on the app, iRig, and some additional effects. The app and additional effects purchases are not transferrable to an iPad, requiring an additional purchase of everything for the iPad... this is a rip-off. But worst, I've twice now lost all of my presets and recordings. It seems to happen when the app hangs on startup and dumps me back to the Home screen. On next startup, all of my settings and recordings are gone. The song import feature also doesn't work anymore, which was the main thing I was interested in for practice, but imported songs refuse to play. This problem persists after removing and reinstalling app, AND after resetting iPhone to factory settings and restoring from backup. Very not impressed..Version: 2.0.1

Un happyPaid alot of money for my equipment and everything seems to have minor faults not up to high standards at all bit disapointed.Version: 3.4

Too muchFor what you pay to just get the app you definitely don’t get much! I know pedals aren’t cheap but if you really want people to use your app have some decent stomps and amps to work with you go bankrupt trying to find what sounds right.Version: 4.5.2

Great App but...This is truly a great App, the sounds are good and there are a lot of effects to choose from in the basic as well as add ons. I purchased the Fender bundle and was satisfy with the results. However, the app seems to crash recently on start up and I notice the same issue with the built in backing drums. Another issue is the constant solicitation to buy other add ons and products from the company, which really bugs me. "I know where the store is, I'll buy if I need it". Also, I purchased iRig to use with the software a few years ago, and it work well until iRig HD came out, and I notice that there's a dirty line signal or static which makes it impossible to use in recording settings. I have Peavy Ampkit which works fine with IRig, and no distortion. For this I would recommend Peavy Ampkit over Amplitube. The Peavy sounds are better and less hassle and overall experience. All in all the app is good, but the company needs to do better..Version: 3.3.1

Ripped offI bought the full version of this app then paid all this money for all the extras only to feel ripped off when I uploaded it to my new iPad all them extras that I paid for are not there and they want me to repurchase them as if. PLEASE BE AWARE.Version: 2.2.2

Too noisy to be of any useLike a number of other users of iPhone Amplitube, I was keen to try but very dissapointed when I did. The 'noise' this generates makes it un-usable except as a novelty. The noise cancelling pedal kills a fair bit of the noise but also kills the overall sound. This is digital stuff Amplitibe, WHY THE NOISE? The lack of any recording function is also a major ommission. Very dissapointed, don't waste your money..Version: 0

Rubbish app try ampkit insteadForget this app it does not work paid for all the in apps etc..i have had nothing but trouble with the app since day one. the sound quality when it allows you to get a sound is poor it is not worth the cost and aggravation there is no good sound in this bundle the help and support do respond but with no fix except to say the user must be at fault. try ampkit instead it is amazingly good. I would have preferred no stars but the rating system wont allow it..Version: 3.1.2

Not IdealWhat Amplitube does well is tone. I find the amp sims in Amplitube produce some very useable tones, especially compared to their counterparts in Apple's own GarageBand for iOS. However, unless I'm missing something, Amplitube stores the processed signal and NOT the raw signal when recording. This doesn't work. With GarageBand for iOS, for example, the raw signal of your guitar is recorded and the amp sim and stomps applied after that. GarageBand's approach allows you to change amps and effects AFTER you've recorded the part. With that approach you can change a mix after the fact or even sketch a piece on your iOS device and then export it to a full PC/Mac and wholly replace the mobile amp/effect sims with pro ones without having to re-record your part. This missing feature in Amplitube is a bigger concern to me than the raw tone difference between this app and its major competitor..Version: 3.0.1

Had to reinstallIt didn't work at first. After reinstalling the software it works great. It would be good if they mentioned uninstalling then reinstalling if it doesn't work. It's pretty good, but the crosstalk feedback is annoying. I'm looking forward to the upcoming Line 6 offering. I'm sure it will leave Amplitube for dead..Version: 2.2.2

Not great with bassI've been using Amplitube on my PC since version one several years ago. Unfortunately this App isn't even as good as the original old version and is a far cry from Amplitube 3! Does not work well with bass at all, especially active basses. It distorts with my passive Jazz bass if I dig in at all and it totally can't handle the active Bartolini pickups on my Sound Gear bass. The anti-feedback switch kills the tone and makes the app sound horrible! I own every application IK Multimedia makes (except hardware/pedals or ARC) and this simply is not up to par with their other software programs. It only has cheesy spring reverb and not even one good verb algorithm from CSR. Sorry IK but I am by no means blown away and there's a lot of room for improvement in this application!.Version: 0

Mm, not greatMy first impression of this app and the irig was good however after forking out for some addons I realised I was chucking money into a bottomless pit. All I really wanted was a good fender sim but I quickly found myself buying a few upgrades. The acoustic sim was the nail in the coffin, utter rubbish. Now I would like to download just the fender part of the app but it seems I can't, I have to download the whole app and most of its just a waste of space. There are much better apps for far less money available as I've found to my joy, I recommend you look at the competition.Version: 4.3.0

Please fix!!!When I first bought the app and irig for my iPod touch, it worked very well, and then I did the update and now when I plug in and start the app, everything loads but there is no audio now! If you buy this app DON'T do the update!!!!.Version: 0

Shocking customer serviceHaving just bought the amplitube and playing with the demos I was excited to order the irig from the website. However my excitement quickly vanished when after a week I still had not received my irig nor any correspondence (except for promotional newsletters begging for me to buy more things). I for one was cautious about this app as for me personally, ordering a separate connector requires more thought than buying an app for a few bucks. A warning to anyone in the same position: the customer service is terrible. No word from several emails (even filling out the question form proved useless). I may rate this higher if I hear SOME kind of word on my irig but until then it's just a gimmick app I wish I'd not bought..Version: 0

Initial excitement turns to disappointment..Had high hopes when I bought the iRig and downloaded Amplitube but after a good hour of messing around I found the sound quality to be quite poor! Very difficult to get a decent clean sound and the controls a fiddly.. Nice try though, hopefully there will be improvements soon...Version: 2.2.2

Gone downhill...Well it WAS ridiculously amazing, but since the update it is a very bad quality app! I bought the 4 track and the master stuff aswell, since updating the sound quality is so poor - when low notes are played on the guitar it distorts disgustingly and i can't seem to get much gain now, all I get is a high pitched feed back if too much FX or gain is applied - that never happened at all before. Fiddly controls with the 4 track too, tried recording two guitar parts to put on the same song and one of them was completely deteriorated in tone. Highly disappointed - they've put everything in that we asked for but in doing so have taken away everything that was good about it! Hurry up with fixed version guys!!!.Version: 0

Bad UpdateWhats going on AmpliTube. This lastest update is not working? Fix It!! Please..Version: 2.0.1

Needs 30 Pin SupportHave had this app via iRig for awhile and while the models sound great (way better than all my Tascam headphone units), I never enjoyed the inherent hiss and crackle. This extra noise forces you to use the noise filter which totally kills your dynamics, especially with the clean amp models. Eventually the hiss will drive you nuts and fighting the temperamental input dongle to get a clean sound will relegate this to a practice tool you only break out occasionally. How anyone could actually record with this is my guess. I just got an Apogee Jam for my Bday which is a guitar input that plugs into the charging dock. Totally silent! Works great with GarageBand, Jam Up, and Ampkit, a few apps I had to purchase because Amplitube does not support 30 pin instrument inputs. IK's website has been promising support with an update for over 6 months, but we know no more today than when the announcement was first made. It's a shame because like Line 6, they really do come out with great apps and products, but they are entirely too busy rolling out new products than continuing support for their old ones, despite the products popularity and large fan base..Version: 2.2.2

Too expensiveHandy practice tool running through headphones the feature for playing music from your library is good. But here's my beef: Sounds horrible and noisy running through the irig stomp pedal into my amp. iPhone version and iPad versions are two separate purchases and the in app purchases are not across both devices either. The iPhone version has terrible latency and seems extremely noisy. The latency issue makes it unusable. I've parted with too much coin buying Ik media products. Don't follow my mistake.Version: 4.0.1

Think TwiceIK Multimedia did a good job with AmpliTube 3 but this app is disappointing. An iPhone, $24.99 and headphones will never deliver a killer guitar sound..Version: 2.0.2

Drum loopWhy in my phone drum loop doesn't work, fistime I bought this App everything is work, only drum loop not work please give me a clue? Thanks.Version: 3.4

Track bleedingHi there is a bad flaw in the recording section of the app. When recording your second track the metronome or anything on track one seeps onto track 2. I tried to sort it out with app support though they insist on me buying another piece of equipment that should stop the bleeding (even though I have an irig which should do the job). I have tried multi tracking in other Apps and there is no bleed so it must be a software problem. The sounds are good but don't buy the multitrack recorder! I'm turned off using this app and end up using jam up pro because of the frustration I had with this app. The update with jimi packs made accessibility to the setting a two step process, not very user friendly. Also still track bleeding..Version: 2.8

Not ready for primetimeGreat idea. Nice looking. Fun... for a few minutes. 1) You have to convert any song that you want to play over into .wav format. Why, I don't know, but it sure takes a long time to convert a song from mp3 to wav. 2) Lot's of snap, crackle, and pops heard through the head phones which are downright annoying. I played with latency settings as advised, but that did nothing to help. 3) Crashes constantly. I'll be in the middle of a song and all of a sudden crash. So, I start the app again and play for a little bit and then crash- again. It seems to be happening only when I'm playing along to a song and when I really start unleash a torrent of notes. I wonder if somehow , this is too much for the app to take and then it crashes. All I know is that it shouldn't happen. I have a Tascam mp3 player that essentially does the same thing as amplitube. It has onboard effects although not "models". It never crashes. I don't need to convert from mp3 to wav and it doesn't snap, crackle, or pop. When I compare the Tascam to Amplitube, it seems far superior. Amplitube seems like it just is barely holding it together which I find very frustrating. I think that there is a lot of potential here, but it needs to have the bugs worked out. Certainly not worth the $20 i paid for it..Version: 2.2.2

Great for blues ad not much else.I guess I really understand now that all guitarists either are, or aspire to be 40-55 year old men who either play blues, blues rock, or some variation. I've been denying it for a decade and a half, but there is no illusion I can hold any longer. All guitar media, be it instructional, expositional, or exemplary, is attempting to cater to the American dream of playing the minor pentatonic scale over and over and over and over until music dies. Amplitube is no exception. Everything in this app is generic as anything I've ever heard. You want a metal sounding rectifier/engl tone that's saturated and powerful, and not modeled after old school metal from the 80s? Too bad. That isn't popular with 40-55 year old blues guitarists. The "metal" amp is a joke. You can also look forward to behringer-quality stomp box effects, and glitches galore. I guess I'm really frustrated because the app gets such good reviews, and I spent $20. And yes, the volume was all the way up on the guitar, and yes, I dialed the gain back on the amp, added the overdrive, and used it as a level boost. It was still weak. This app gets two stars because it has its place among everything else in the guitar hobby world, serving the "we refuse to die" blues generation..Version: 3.2.1

Not great on 3GThe last version was ok on the iPhone 3G but this new version can be really sluggish, especially if it is trying and failing to contact the app store (not sure what it is up to but it failed and threw up error boxes: at least it didn't crash). There is interruption in play whenever the app is trying to do something in the background. Still, after using this my practise amp (vox da5) seems really lacking in good blues tones. I can plug the iPhone into the amp through the iRig but only the backing tracks work, can't hear the guitar. This may be a problem with the connecting cable. Three stars on iPhone 3G, more on something with more horsepower AND if the app didn't hassle me to buy drum tracks every time I start it up..Version: 0

AmplitubeI purchased this app to use for FX with the IRIG 2. I have not been able to get it to work. They have ineffective email support and I am planning to return the products..Version: 4.1.1

ItThis program is a ripoff when you consider that apple is offering GarageBand for iPad for $5 with tons of built in amps and fx, not to mention tons of loops, a full fledged recorder, keys, bass, everything. The in app purchases are way too expensive and not that great. Recorder needs lots of tweaking but this seems to have been overlooked or not cared about. Instead of improving on their existing software with updates they just roll out more ways to make money and rip people off while the basic software could be greatly improved (especially the recorder). I still use the iRig connecteor but probably will be upgrading to an Apogee Jam since the iRig has no adjustable input level and clips in GarageBand. Waste of $20, I'll never buy anything Amplitube ever again..Version: 2.2

In app purchase disappeared???Are you kidding me? I had to restore my phone to factory settings due to a separate issue . However when I reinstalled this app again, the 4 track recorder I paid $9.99 for is no longer there. It wants me to pay another $9.99 to get it back. Seriously what a rip-off. In fact it's a scam as far as I'm concerned and I'll be contacting apple and the developers as soon as I've written this. ************************************************** UPDATE SO I emailed the amplitude people. They told me that when the app gets updated you lose all of your add ons. Does this seem fair? Is it mentioned anywhere? What a rip off. So if you update when they tweak the app, be prepared to lose everything else you purchased. In fact I recommend not buying this app at all. I loved it until they ripped me off..Version: 2.2.2

Not The Full Version. How is this the full version if you still have to pay for the majority of the pedals, amps, cabs? Feels more like a trial version. Yet another IK ripoff!.Version: 4.3.0

I'm out ..Another update: Bought the Reverb pedal. It's really low quality and grainy. With longer decay times you can hear the micro delays. Meh.. Get rid of the splash screen and pop up messages advertising the new iRig HD on startup. Seriously, stop. Basically the app is fine although surely the iPhone version doesn't need to be limited to only 3 stomp boxes and only 4 recording channels anymore. Other apps do more than this. Also the layout is extremely cramped when compared to other similar apps..Version: 3.2

Going small? Don't!I've got this running well on an iPad and wanted to run it on an iPod Touch for reasons of convenience. Asked to pay again for the app and lost some purchases and took years for it to play nice with BlueBoard..Version: 3.4

Latest update BIG issuesI want my money back. V2.0 record option has rendered the rest of the app useless. Only way it works is turning on monitor in record feature but no effects or amp settings work. Also doesn't play through right channel in headphones. How did this get through testing and QA? If this doesn't get resolved soon, I'm selling my iRig on eBay..Version: 0

Restore my purchasesBuggy product.Version: 4.0.3

Not bad, but not good either! For what this app offers it amazing. So many pedal, cabinet and amp combinations. All sound very different and you can tell there is a lot of work gone into making the boxes and amps sound realistic. Its easy to hook up and i love the fact i dont have to have my guitar running through my amps with wires everywhere, or computer to practice. My only grumble with the software is that even with my phone in flight mode i get crackle from the set up. Ive tested my guitar and leads and there are no problems there! Its a real shame and a downer on what could be possibly the best app for the i-phone. Amplitube really need to get this problem/bug sorted as its just letting the app down. If you want something to practice through earphones its great but you wont want to plug it into speakers to show off your skills!.Version: 2.2.2

Yeah! Great app, great effectsWay cheaper than a zoom pedal and much smaller than all those pedals and amps. I think it required an UPDATE , as it's NOT COMPATIBLE with AIDIOBUS anymore..Version: 3.3.1

Not so sure, now very sureNone of my effects have EVER worked. It all sounds the same no matter which amp I play, I am deeply regretting the huge cost to get the adaptor. Also in a non mic'd headset I hear constant clicking and buzzing. Sound cuts out often. This is CRAP. I have tried and tried to fix this. App shutsdown on its own, and is extremely slow to react to imputs. 3 minutes is the average time to load this App (and only this one) on my iPhone. Clicking buzzing and popping is all I get in between guitar noise. Contacted support and had no response at all. They are great at sending me emails to upgrage and buy more of this garbage, but will not contact me for a problem. I am removing this and taking the loss. DO NOT BUY THIS!.Version: 2.0.3

App is OK, but the company is not.I really wanted to like this app, and the feature set should make me like it, but I must warn prospective buyers about some bad stuff about how the product is sold and also to read up about the stability and latency issues with iOS amplitube before committing. 1> Deceptive marketing practices: For example, the 'complete vocalive bundle' is not complete, you need to buy the Reverb, Compressor, Parametric and Graphic EQ for additional money. IK make this as clear as mud on their website, and I suspect that is not an accident. 2> Customer-hostile product catalogue: you market a number of different applications for each iOS platform, forcing customers to re-purchase the same functionality (either as a plug in or as standalone apps). I have read IK's justifications about tailoring the application to the platform, which appear on many message boards, but this does not wash because plenty of other applications (example: thumbjam, New York Times app, WeatherPro) allow you to use your subscriptions and in-app purchases across many apps, and provide excellent cross-platform capabilities (iPhone, iPad, iPod) in a universal app. I can only conclude that the product managers for iOS at IK think it is good business to trick its customers into paying multiple times. The app is otherwise OK for practice, though as others have noted there are instabilities which would prevent me from relying on it for gigging. Get it together, IK..Version: 2.9.6

Arrgh! A let downI brought this with high hopes but having such trouble getting it to work. Have tried everything I can think of and online suggestions but it's so annoying considering what it has cost me! Can't get sound from it most of time through speakers and when it does work sound level is poor! Not worth the money. And STOP asking me if I want to buy extra stuff! It's very irritating it makes me less likely to but it! Please sort it out as u could have a very good product if it worked properly..Version: 0

Broken app......This could be a great app if... 1. It didn't crash all the time causing me to have to reset my phone. 2. The stomps worked, e.g it would be great if the noise filter actually cut out some of the excessive noise this app produces. 3. Didn't cost me $70 to get going. If the developer can manage to fix this apps many issues, I'm sure it will be a lot of fun.... For now I'll just shake my fist in frustration and wonder why I wasted my money..Version: 0

Not Worth ItConsidering that you have to pay $14 for the app itself and $50 for an iRig, this app should really include all features. The prices of the in-app purchases are ridiculous. Good quality and interesting concept, but a rip off..Version: 4.8.0

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Do not buy because you have to buy a random pointless thing to make it work..Version: 2.2.2

Very nice!I tried the free version but it did not work for me, so I spent $20 for the full version and it works great. My only beef is I had to pay another $9.00 to get the 4 track recorder which made this app lose a star the full version should have it built in for that price..Version: 2.0.2

Not good for iPhone3This doesnt work well for older iPhone3. @ 1st was very, very BAD tech support from the IK people. Their product was good for a few months, but since Apple iPhone updates, its very poor has a "popping" sound that happens from time to time. its not really Apple's fault so DONT go there! Its upto those so-called IK techheads to keep things running smoothly. But this is not the case. I'm sure it does wonders with iPhone4 but if you have an older iPhone STAY FAR AWAY from IK! I would reccomend Ampkit more better. Its more straight forward and packs some Punch. Also, try RiotFX that App is only a $1 buck! And its got lots of Effects all on 1 screen. We need Audio Engineers for Guitar App products NOT Web Design people!.Version: 2.1

Annoying Pop upHey guys love the app but since we paid our money can you get rid of the annoying pop up saying things are available at the store. It gives me the same message every time I use the app!! I know they are available and if I choose to purchase them then I will if i choose not too why should I have to click on your pop up every time I want to use the app ( from a free version you would expect this but come on!!).Version: 2.2.1

Not worth the moneyI get too much noise in the background even when i change leads , but its better than buying real pedals.Version: 2.2.1

Greedy, greedy, greedyIf I dont have anything good to say i tend mot to say anything at all. But this app is exceptionally greedy i feel the need to share my opinion First having to purchase 2 separate app for iphone and ipad is dumb. Others might disagree but i stand on my opinion Second and last point. Pop up ad, and endless in app purchase is simply greedy. Period. This app is the first to expose me to having guitar fx on my phone but only to find out that others has done is much better. I bought jam up pro and uninstall this app permanently.Version: 2.6

DisappointingI read mixed reviews and decided to get this app. I wish I hadn't purchased this or the irig. Limited, noisy and you have to keep paying for add ons. I wish there was some way I could get a refund..Version: 2.2.1

Barely OK and very annoying in-app purchase spamAmplitube is handy on the iPhone for the occasional messing around. The clean amps sound OK but many effects etc. are pretty marginal. The IK Media iRig is a much lower quality, worse sounding and noisier guitar input than the Apogee Jam. And unfortunately the Apogee Jam does not work with Amplitube on the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. But the main problem for me is the frequent and very annoying pop-ups for in-app purchases -- and this is in a $20 app I've already purchased. I won't buy the iPad version for this app because of this. IK Media will get no support from me until they remove/allow the user to disable the in app purchase spamming from their paid apps. I hope Apple bring their GarageBand guitar features to the iPhone for an attractive price with support for the Apogee Jam, as on the iPad..Version: 2.1

This app has gone downhillI am a long time user of this app and found it to be the best guitar amp app for me. I got this app when I was 13 (I’m 23 now so 10 years) so I could play my guitar without bothering anyone else. I think I paid $20-$30 for this app too so I really hoped it worked great. Sure enough, it was a godsend and I loved just how simple the app was while having many options for tones. But recently, when I open the app, I get this strange intense buzzing or popping sound which makes it impossible to play my guitar. It even makes these noises even when the guitar is not playing. I’ve tried to delete the app and redownload it and try other apps like BIAS and GarageBand to see if it was the iRig adapter (it wasn’t). The problem lies within this app. I have also noticed that the developers do not update this app regularly which makes it frustrating when I update to a new iOS and the app crashes on the new firmware. Until the developers can figure out a more regular update schedule and fix the problem that I have with the app, I think I will be usin.Version: 4.14

4 track recorder doesn't workThe app sounds great, but is let down by the four track recorder not saving your projects. As soon as you try to switch projects or change to any other app you will lose all your data. There is no save function, the app is supposed to autosaved all of your changes but this is not happening. Unfortunately as I use this app to play along with backing tracks this has rendered it useless. I'll be requesting my money back soon if they don't fix this problem with an update..Version: 3.2

Great ideaBut crashes and extreme noise make it barely useable, I dunno if it's my irig or the amp, but either way I just paid a good 70 dollars to get something that doesn't really work..Version: 2.2.1

A very expensive optionI've put a lot of money and trust into IK Multimedia products over the last year. Their customer service is disgusting and frankly, they don't deserve my money - or yours. Once you buy the Amplitube, they want extra money for absolutely everything and constantly bug you with hard sell tactics in the app. There's also no upgrade path from iphone to ipad, so you have to buy duplicates of all your plugins all over again, costing a small fortune..Version: 2.2.1

Pretty cool, but...Very cool app, amp and effects models are good, however the high-gain tones are pretty horrid. Address that issue and it's a killer app..Version: 2.1

Make sure to install this on the device you will use the mostGot the iRig Stomp and iRig, bought amplitube, slash, and jimi Hendrix versions plus some extras. (so i have about $120 bucks invested) Only had an iPhone at the time. After installing upgrade, app stopped working. Just a bunch of noise would come out. Nothing worked. Also hard to use on phone with the small screen. Bought an IPad. In order to use software, you have to buy everything again. Now I understand that they are two different devices, but you would think you would get a discount or at least make it disable the iPhone version so you could move it to another device. I emailed the company about 2 to 3 months ago asking about the issues I was having and possibly working out a deal for transferring to iPad. Never heard back from them. For that reason alone, I think I will try another vendor. There are a lot of great products out there with better customer service. This product was cool when it worked but I'm moving on. Wasted too much money for something I can't use. Think I might try the iStomp by DigiTech..Version: 2.9.6

Upgrade not workingI'm getting the same problems as the other reviewers with the upgrade to 2.0. It won't even work as an amp modellet anymore. Yet another great app ruined by an "upgrade". Why do developers constantly do this? What is the suicidal motive behind these half-assed upgrade efforts?.Version: 0

Its ok but id save up and get real thing still!!!I think its ok for a little app but tbh im gutted ive wasted almost £40 on it with the irig and app! and the biggest turn off for me was the fact that you get promised this and that and when you pay the full app price you get a few amps, a few pedal effects, one blimmin track recorder so unless you do covers to backing tracks could never record a full song of your own you have to even register and pay more for the master editor to play with ur song, and unless your ipod can access internet you cant do it!! the most dissapointment tho was the sound i know its a lil app and on an ipod but it isnt cheap cheap!! i got some proper guitar amp headphones which can withstand my marshall 50watt but this is so crackly and fuzzy and after ive countlessly tried messing around with all the knobs and dials (i have used ipod earphones too still bad) if youre buying it hoping to replace floor pedals its a non go-er and for recording well i cant as my ipod touch isnt on the web, its ok only if your away from home and carry a guitar, lead, ipod, and irig with u to have a away from home jam to urself but who takes that around?? lol im dissapointed tbh!!! buy boss pedals or a zoom multi effects!!! hope it helps.Version: 2.0.2

Stick with ampkitAmplitube and ampkit was on par when they were both 1.0 Now that amplitube has 2.0 and ampkit with 1.1, I found myself liking ampkit much more than amplitube. Amplitube just lets me use 3-4 effect and I just can't get that Marshall, fender amp reality from amplitube where as ampkit has realistic amp and effects with now improved tone. Both has their pros and cons(amplitube has that loop function where ampkit doesn't) but for now, ampkit link and ampkit is my fave choice for a pocket amp sim..Version: 2.0.2

Purchased the full app for nothingI have paid $120 for the IK device (Iphone). It said the app is included in the box. The app was so limited (the free version) that I decided to put an extra $36 to get the full version. I ended up with the SAME limited app. Had to buy for an extra $30 in drum kits and stomps. In a nutshell, this app is very deceptive and let you purchase it even if you have it already! Very disappointed and won’t buy any in-apps, as I already spent way too much for nothing..Version: 4.11.0

Separate iPad and iPhone versions? What a ripoff having to buy separate versions for $20 each. The idea is cool, the actual product is ok, certainly better than nothing, but quite noisy and full of pops on both iPhone and iPad. You can only add music via wifi and can't access itunes songs. Not much "tone" to speak of and even less gain or sustain. It just sounds a little buzzy. While it's better than nothing, at $20 for the app and $40 for the cable you gotta wonder if it's worth it. Where exactly do you really think you'll use this novelty? At home or gigs you'll have an amp. Anywhere else will you have a guitar and cable? If so, just bring an amp. The tone and ease of use will be much better. Thanks for trying IK, I'm looking forward to a better version and an apology for charging me a second time for my iPad..Version: 0

G1pqApp works ok, but a clumsy user interface and lack of high res graphics make it a little ordinary for the price..Version: 2.2.2

Waste of moneyThe 20 bucks you spend gets you the bare essentials... Don't buy unless your willing to spend the extra 30 bucks to get the stuff you assume is gonna be there in the first place..Version: 2.9.6

CrapThis an ok app, its way to expensive first off. Second a clean amp hisses so bad you cant do anything with it. There are pops and a noticeable lag. Wish i didnt spend the cash on it..Version: 2.2.2

Upload not workingGreat fun and awesome drum tracks but when you take the head phons out you can't hear the guitar and same when you upload to Soundcloud.Version: 3.4

Not even worth a free downloadSounds like complete garbage. At first I thought it was the iRig adapter, but then I tried it with another app and it sounded much better there. I know this app used to sound better before. What the hell happened?.Version: 4.0.2

Poor qualityBad customer service. Do not purchase.Version: 4.7.0

A Must for All Guitarist!!The seperate app for iPad seems like an absolute money grabber, as they should combine them both into one app compatible with iphone and ipad This app is a must for all guitarist, its portablility make it a invaluable companion, it has fantastic tone, something I would never have thought possible considering the platform, and sounds better than my amp. I almost never hear pops or other sounds unless I'm recieving a call, text or downloading something via my iphone whilst I'm playing guitar through the multitasking feature, which I also use Tabtoolkit with, so I can play along with my tabs. Although I would like the factory preset effects to be expanded to be more comprehensive and I dislike how the current version displays the presets. All in all it is an ingenious app..Version: 2.2.2

Needs workI've had this app since it came out and have been very impressed, easy to use and plenty of effects. after the latest update the quality has gone down, now there's a HD input the old I rig is very noisy and it keeps crashing, open the recorder and crash, change presets crash, go to song player crash. if this isn't sorted soon its going to have been a complete waste and I've probably spent about £70 including Irig and extra amp packs. PLEASE FIX THIS. it could easily be a five star app..Version: 3.0.1

A money trapI paid almost $30 to get this only to find out I was only paying for the "shell" of it.. no different than getting the free version. Still just as limiting. I only wanted it for the multitrack recording but now I have to shell out another $30 to get what I should have gotten from the first payment. This is like a "black hole" app. You put money in.. you get a morsel and you pay more to get a tiny bit more and before you know it, you spent 60 bucks and still haven't got what you needed cause those damn ads keep popping up to remind you that your program is still incomplete and to put more money in..Version: 4.3.0

Limited usefulness to bass players; very noisy for everyoneThis is guitar-oriented app, though there is a small sub-set of amps, cabs, and effects that are potentially good for bass players. The problem is it is very difficult to get a clean sound through Amplitube. The overall modeling bias is toward crunchy, overdriven tones which might be OK for rock guitarists, but masks the fundamental tone of a bass too much to be of use to me. Also, aside from the modelling, the app (running with a Lakland bass plugged into the $40 iRig accessory with a Mogami cable) is incredibly hissy. When you try to boost the input and/or output levels over the hiss, it distorts the tone even more. I did manage to tweak things to an acceptable balance between jaggedy digital artifacts and incessant line hiss, but at that point, the output to my Sennheiser HD280 phones was so low the built-in metronome all but drowned it out. I'm not expecting audiophile sound here, but for $60 (iRig plus app), a few good, usable clean tones should be part of the package. The concept behind this app is great; the execution is horrendous. If you are a guitarist playing heavily-effected, overdriven sounds, this might be an acceptable choice for you; bassists and others looking for clean reproduction of fundamental tones are going to be very disappointed..Version: 2.0.2

IrigThe app seemed great until I connected the Irig and it turned into nightmare. The noise generated by the Irig is awful, and a total distraction from what should be a good experience. I will be returning it to the retailer for a refund..Version: 0

Bill Hicks! As an app to amplify your guitar this is actually quite good, with the options I have there are some nice effects that produce quite decent sounding guitar. Good. Unfortunately the company marketing strategy seems based on the principle of mugging! The relentless extras lead me to not trust investing in this App' as planned, I think it would never end. If you ever add a 'Buy everything and we'll, legally, leave you alone' option I may consider it if the price is fair. Otherwise I'll cut my losses and use what I have, which as I said is good. Ever heard what Bill Hicks said about marketing? He was right..Version: 4.0.2

Please fix bugsBought it loved it even though quite noisy , now a year later or so I can't even get into the app if I do it crashes and there is no difference in the amps ... They don't work at all iPhone 3 g 8 gb.Version: 2.2

Some major bugs need to be fixedAlthough the sounds a great. At time the effects glitch and won't come on. Also big issue with the studio and recording. Click/metronome cuts into the sessions and also somehow glitch with different effects. Sad to say but after all the hype i expected more. Also be careful how you purchase this app if you buy an amp pack outside the app they do not integrate. Update - haven't used the app in ages, but a lot of my in app purchases are no longer there even though it says restored, stomps are all gone, and export of recordings is now gone. I'm assuming changed out to force an in app purchase of the mastering console. Do not buy this money sucking app. Go check out bias fx. It's where i'm going..Version: 4.3.0

Song play along!!!???The daft guys that created this app failed to make it do the one thing most people will want to use this for!!! playing along to tracks ON their actual itouch!!! What a total waste of money, the process of uploading songs via wireless is so laborious that frankly it's just not worth it. How can this amplitube company be so stupid as to bring out a product without doing their market research. I found out that it couldnt do this AFTER i ordered one and it took four weeks to arrive toboot!!! Steer well clear of this one....Version: 0

Updates ever????!!Why has this app been thrown to the curb. There has been barely any updates or new gear added in ages. The software version of Ampltiube constantly gets new updates and gear.. Wth is the deal? I seriously would like an explanation from IK as to why this is??.Version: 4.14.2

It's okEasy to see people getting excited by this app. I use the full version on a macbook and it really is very flexible and great sounds. the ipod version can't seem to do a clean sound without some wow & flutter, which is a basic building block for creating any good tone have tried many different volume adjustments and headphones but to no avail. and £30 for the lead is just a con. expensive app and ridiculously priced lead. Griffin do a much better one now at £20 and the PRS one works with this app but is also much too expensive and very cheaply made it would be nice to have this kind of app as a practice tool & for some recording or indeed performing but the clean sound quality just isn't there yet. no doubt with tons of distortion you just wouldn't notice the background noise but that's not what I'm looking for. if it has many clean sound options make it so they can be used.Version: 0

What Happened IK?I have to say in the first version of this app it was perfect there was not a thing wrong with the app. But since the v2 upgrade many of the effects don't work, phaser, flanger and the graphic eq just to name a few. Please fix this app because now it is alot less usable for me and many other users..Version: 0

Good features but...I have literally stopped using AmpliTube and now exclusively use JamUp Pro. The main reason is due to a hissing in the background that I can't get rid of. The problem is I have contacted customer support about it multiple times, because the hiss is not in any other amp simulator app that I use...only in AmpliTube. I have explained this to them, but the conclusion IK Multimedia keeps arriving at is it is my equipment's fault...even though I don't get hiss in any other app that I use. The noise gate works for the most part, but you can still hear it when you play. I don't have any effect or amp gain cranked...there is no physical reason I can figure why this app makes my guitars hiss. I refuse to make recordings with dirt in the background, so the only reasonable solution for me was to stop using AmpliTube and go to another amp simulator like JamUp Pro that does just about everything AmpliTube does, but without the hiss. I'm hoping some day this gets resolved, because I spent some hard earned money on this not so cheap app. I have talked to other guitarists who have used AmpliTube and they know about the hiss also..Version: 4.4.0

Stop the ads please!Great app but very slow to load and I hate the pop up ads for add-ons. If I don't want them then don't ask me again everyone I go in!.Version: 2.5

Can't use power adapterOverall an awesome app. makes practising easy to backing tracks. u can make mixes minus your instrument and play along - nice. unfortunately it gets very noisy if u have yr power supply plugged in - this means u can only run it on the battery.I would have liked to know this before buying - it's buried in the FAQ on the website. this loses two stars for me. any chance of fixing this?.Version: 0

They didn't tell the extra costsIRig $55, basic app OK. But please simply tell us before we have to also buy $21 - full app, $10 to record, $15 to get better drums ! Awesome system, B U T tell us before, please. This thing has nearly doubled in price. I still would have bought it, though. I'll be checking you guys before buying other things. Dont forget people - awesome app !.Version: 2.9.6

Rip offWhy is this not a universal app? It's bad enough having to buy all the extras just for a decent experience. But to have to pay twice just to get the same on iPad is BS..Version: 2.5

A fun novelty, but not much else. This is a fun app to impress your friends with the novelty of plugging your guitar into your phone. As for actually using it to play, it's not so great. The latency is a problem at the normal setting and at the low setting I get pops and clicks on my 3GS. The noise in the high gain amps makes those unusable. The biggest problem is the songs. It would be much better to use the iPod app to play the songs. As it is, you can only load 20 songs which you can use to play along with. There needs to be a lot more and they need to be groupable into playlists. In summary, for a pocket amp, it's much better to get something like a Korg Pandora and plug your iphone/ipod into that for backing tracks. The Pandora has a lot of effects and features this lacks, but most importantly, it's really practical..Version: 0

Good app could be greatI use amplitube all the time to work out guitar and vocal pieces, i bring basic tracks from BM2 or Multitrack DAW. I have all in app purchases. I then move it all back into Multitrack DAW. It's The UI and work flow is lacking though. I would do more and use amplitube more often if it had one feature. You MUST add copy paste support having to import from the CPU makes my using the iPhone (when I'm away) pointless. Come on. Everyone else is getting on board. Also, Kudos for adding the 4 track Recorder but the tape deck is cute but gets old. Something more practical -waveform would rock but at least something with time markers and a simpler queuing. Sorry but it's the one thing sanoma 4track has on you..Version: 2.2.2

Version: 4.1.1

Terrible support for an app you pay forYou do pay for this app. Over the years I have bought multiple effects, amps and extras, I also payed over 20 bucks when I first started using it. How is this paying customer treated? On a regular based I open the app and find pop up ads trying to get me to buy some other extra that must be acknowledged before using the app. IPhone x screen size is not supported 4 months after its release. I'm pretty sure there is bug with power management to. After a session of using this app and then no longer using it I often find the battery draining fast. If I look under settings this app is listed as the number 1 power consumer. This could be great app for practice instead it's just a frustrating money grab..Version: 4.5.1

Great Product for playing but NOT for recording - track bleed issuesHad this for a while with the iRig connector - However recently purchased the IK mike as well and decided to try some recording with the built in multitrack and this is where the iRig adapter is a real let down. Its impossible to record a new track against existing tracks (i.e. drum or guide vocal) without that track bleeding heavily onto your guitar track and this is apparently due to the headphone and guitar signal going through the same connector jack. This problem does not occur if using the Apogee Jam or similar connector with other apps like AMPKIT or Garageband because that connects through the dock adapter - however Amplitube does not currently support this which is a shame because this app is by far the best if you want an easy to use multitrack. IK really need to get their finger out and release an update to use the dock connector but I guess they just want to clear all the old stock of iRigs in their minds which is a little short sighted. Going to remove app in meantime until they swallow some pride and do the decent thing - I suppose really I should ask for my money back as the product does not work as stated..Version: 2.2.2

It's an alright app but...After buying the app for $20 and the irig for $40, I feel like I've paid enough for there not to be in-app purchases. Not fair to the customer when you guys do that, we've shown our support already..Version: 2.2

Its broken.I just spent 20$ on the amp and effect pack, and an extra 10$ in good faith on the 4 track recorder. All of this, In addition to the expensive irig. The amps and effects don't work. To put it simply, don't buy this. With what they charge, there should be no excuse. If you truly need it, at least wait for another update..Version: 2.0.3

No rating. My issue with this is that the pictures on the app store are misleading because they give the impression that what you are purchasing is a full product with nothing missing; showing as it does a screenshot of a four track recorder with FOUR tracks and not ONE. For example, the free version of amplitube shows only ONE track available and this is what you get when you download it. I don't expect to compare the free version and the £6.99 version, see that the full version has 3 more recordable tracks that the free one, buy it (and the iRig) and then discover that actually there are three missing tracks that we're clearly shown as being there in the description of the App. Your description in the app store includes the following: 1. ... Full multitrack recording capabilities in a convenient mobile app... 2. Plus you can expand your rig à la carte with 5 additional effects... 3. You can expand the included recorder to a full professional multitrack studio by adding the 8 tracks recorder plus master effects section (available as an in app purchase)... They describe a picture. It's not the picture I bought. I see that towards the bottom of the features list they mention single track recording expandable to 8. It's kind of hidden away don't you think? The way the language in the description is couched is calculated, misleading and deliberate. Also it's as noisy as hell..Version: 2.2.2
