✓ Problem with OS4?Just bought this and it seemed to have lots of potential. I prefer the 1-tap moving of Backgammon NJ, but Guru Pro had its own advantages. Then, as soon I changed to OS 4.0 on my 3GS, the program crashed within one or two moves every time. Perhaps they will fix this and I can evaluate this app more realistically if it works again..Version: 0

✓ Worst game everI've been playing backgammon for 30+ years and have played a number of these games. The algorithms are ridiculous and the game gets many times more doubles than the human. I bought the pro version and deleted it after about 10 matches. Terrible game..Version: 1.3

✓ Match play over 3 gamesHappy with being able to throw my own dice. Stops me thinking that the computer is cheating! However, the pro version I have will not let me increase the match beyond three games. It bombs out. Hardly a professional game at 3, must go to 11 or 14. Also, while the computer can offer and gain a double, I cannot. Offer is made and then queried but no action is taken. Cube value remains unchanged and the computer never resigns..Version: 1.3
✓ So much potential, but so many bugsI love Backgammon NJ, but this Backgammon Guru Pro seemed to have what NJ lacks: post-game analysis where you can see the moves where you went wrong (NJ has this but only move-buy-move as you are playing the game. Also with NJ, there is no multiple-undo feature as there is on Guru Pro. Guru is slow, where NJ is instant, and it's display isn't as clean and readable, BUT for proper analysis I'm willing to overlook these shortcomings. However it is so buggy (running on my 8Gb Touch 4G) that it's unusable :-( It crashes randomly, and if I try to call up "Analyze match" I get: "<font color=red>ERROR OCCURED </font>" displayed on the screen. This might be useful debug information for the developers if the message had said what error had occurred. So, £1.79 down the drain. However, if BPS Software can come up with the bug-free and fast user experience the NJ Software has managed with Backgammon NJ, and with a working post-game analysis, then I - and I'm sure many other players - will be very happy to pay 10x as much! Really looking forward to a bug fixed version of what is potentially a killer app!.Version: 0

✓ Fun, but not fairI've been playing Backgammon Guru Pro (on a "strong" opponent setting) for a few weeks now on my iPhone 5. I do enjoy it most of the time, but it really bothers me sometimes that the dice rolls are not random. There is no way that the computer can roll doubles 4 times more often than me. 8 times out of 10, after asking me to double the computer will either roll doubles, or will get exactly the combination that can both knock off my piece and set up a great blockade. Just so you know, I'm a 55 year old science teacher with a Ph.D. I've been playing backgammon for decades, and I've also had multiple graduate level statistics classes, so I'm pretty familiar with the way dice rolls should work if they are truly random. Also, it sometimes takes me several tries to get my checkers to move. If you could widen the acceptable "touch" area after a piece has been chosen that would be nice. There's only 2 places a given checker can go, so you've got at least half the screen to work with--there's no reason you should have to touch right at the points' tips..Version: 1.3

✓ Strong bot, but mediocre app.Based on GNU gammon this is a strong bot. Unfortunately the app itself is not the most polished, which is a shame. It would be improved if you could play matches longer than to three points. This has all the potential to be a five star app. Bug fixes would also be appreciated..Version: 1.3

✓ Good AI but buggyBackgammon Guru holds a lot of promise but alas, has a lot of bugs. The analysis is pretty nice with its ability to reset a game to a certain point in time, point out good and bad moves, and allow you to resume from that point. The AI, a common weak point with other backgammon games, is pretty good. User interface is pretty weak, with 1980's era/Flash-port graphics. It can be hard to select a piece and dropping it on a point can require more precision than it should. But these are minor complaints compared to the quality of the AI. The bugs, though, make this game hard to live with. A new game can set up with a random piece somewhere on the board that is not really there (but will stay there for the game... distracting at best). Resuming a suspended game can result in the rolls being out of sequence (ie you're white and the dice roll is for white but the computer moves the black). And often, a crash takes you right out of the app. Probability of making it though a game? About 90%. I note this is version 1.0.1. I'm looking forward to an update..Version: 0

✓ A good tutor. Dumb and cheatsA good tutor on backgammon. Against the computer they do get many doubles. Lucky for me the AI resigns when it is clearly winning. So it needs some AI tweaks. A good way to get into the game and practice moves.Version: 1.3
