✓ Can't use as a background appThe noise is relaxing, but it's hopeless as a background app on ios7 as the headphone volume display is constantly showing over the active application. Needs to use another method of controlling the volume for another star...Version: 1.3
✓ Great... except the countdown timer is a bit brokenGreat app - totally zoned out while listening to pink noise and had a great nap. However, there seems to be a bug with the countdown timer. No matter what length of time is set, the sound goes quiet after a couple of minutes if the iPod is put to sleep (I'm on iOS4), or if the app is left running in the background. This only happens when the timer is engaged. Also, there's no way to quit the app - you have to either rely on the timer (which is not working as it should), or kill the app in the dock. Other than that, it's great - if these couple of things are fixed, it'd be a five-star: simple, effective, and totally worth it..Version: 0
✓ Loved it, but it fell short of expectations.I have been listening to the online version for a year to block out the noisy family while studying. So now it's on my phone. I'm disappointed the 'SimpleRain' page is not included on the app. I hoped it was. I would have loved to replicate the ability to turn off and on the thunder and oscillate the volume. ✓ Gone from great to uselessThe latest version switches off when you go to another app or the phone goes into screen saver, rendering this once superb app utterly useless. If you are using it to block out noise to get to sleep for example, or you want to use another app at the same time, you're stuffed. I used to use it to drown out extraneous noise on the train while I read my Kindle app but it's no longer any use. A great app, ruined!! I'll have to look for something else..Version: 1.3

✓ Great sound, not so great usabilityI really like this app for the sound it produces, it's my favourite to fall asleep to. However, I find the user experience to be a bit clunky. It's one easy click to mute it, but there is no way to pause the sound - you can only shut down the app, or keep it running on mute, which drains your battery. Similarly, if I pull the earphones out of my phone, the sound continues through my speakers, rather than pausing as other apps do. I also dislike that there isn't a simple way to have the sleep timer repeat once it has run out - you have to reopen the app, go into the time, and then set it again. I just want a 1-click repeat button..Version: 1.3
✓ Maybe I’m missing something?Silly me, I thought there was a difference between white & pink noise (just recently heard about ‘pink’ noise & I didn’t even know there was a brown noise 😩 is there??) so I assumed somehow the app would let you pick between the 3. I just downloaded this app so I will try it out tonight. I only have my husbands ‘waves crashing’ or ‘rain’ white noise (at least that is what I have always called it) to compare it to, again, thinking it’s different from ‘pink noise’. 🤪.Version: 3.2
✓ Updates need some workThis app has always worked fine and I've enjoyed the noise selection to help me sleep. However, when they made updates the changed the way you select the timer option and the slider is way too sensitive and makes it difficult to select exactly how long you want it to play. If the timer could be fixed this app would get 5 stars..Version: 3.0

✓ For the new 2017/2018 versionPlease for the love of everything, stop this autoplaying when it opens or give me an option to turn auto play off! I suffer from terrible insomnia and this used to help but I can't open the app in the middle of the night anymore because as soon as I do, noise blasts out and as well as terrifying me with its loudness - because it's always at 100%, despite the sound level I had selected when I shut it off previously - it wakes up my partner. TERRIBLE design flaw; the old version was much better in this respect. (I also miss the old Simply Rain, which was vastly superior to this new soundscape.) Until this is resolved, I am uninstalling and rolling back to the old version I have saved on my desktop..Version: 3.0
✓ Good but has problemsI use this app most evenings when I go to sleep. I put on the oscillating brown noise but it has to be the last thing I do before I turn my light out because the volume level stays in the centre of my screen (unless I do not select oscillating). I've also had the issue of the sound glitching during oscillating which is very frustrating because I like the wave crashing sound the oscillating affect creates when it doesn't glitch! Hence the 3 stars and not 5 I will rereview if you update these bugs! Because otherwise a useful app when my insomnia is playing up :).Version: 1.3
✓ Happy to see an update, but miss the timer functionI am happy to see the app has finally been updated! I like the options to control the amount of white vs brown vs pink noise frequency. However, I miss the option to set a timer for the noise to turn off after a few hours..Version: 3.0

✓ Beach sounds currently buggedBeen a long time user of this app. Love the brown noise and rain simulation. Recently purchased the beach sounds. It works well sometimes. More often than not the waves sound like they’re playing mid sound loop. I’d def give this a 5 star rating if it wasn’t for the $2 purchase of a broken beach sound set. (Ver. 3.2 edit) Beach sounds are still buggy. Waves sound like they come in at the middle or near the end of their loop. Doesn’t sound like a gradual wave breaking, but an abrupt wave crash. Almost like a cymbal. This is not relaxing at all. To reproduce the bug, simply shut down the app with the beach sounds selected, then reopen it..Version: 3.2

✓ Why?I like this app and I hate this app. I love how it helps me to sleep at night. I love that I can set whatever time it goes off. I HATE THAT I CAN SHUT IT OFF WHEN I DONT WANT TO HEAR IT. I can pause it in a number of ways but I can’t turn it off during the day. I leave my house and get in my var and my phone connects to my car by Bluetooth and I am frightened by LOUD white/brown noise on my radio, I try to listen to a video in my car and SimplyNose usurps the sound track. I turn it off and if I make a phone call, when I hang up my car is aeash I’m LOUD white/brown noise. I thought I could quit it. When I try to listen to music, it starts again and covers the music. The only way I have found to prevent this unwanted SimplyNoise intrusion is to UNINSTALL the app and then REINSTALL it at night when I WANT to hear it. Please make it possible to actually TURN OFF the app when it’s not wanted..Version: 3.2
✓ Horrible updateThe update makes this app basically useless. The main page is simply an advertisement for their other apps, and the new percentage volume adjustment makes it impossible to listen at a reasonable level, plus it is way too sensitive to toggle. ✓ Awful with the new updates.In the old version interface was simplistic and had no issues. It looked like a retro dial. The only buttons were those for white, pink, and brown noise, as well as the aforementioned dial which was for sound toggling. Go to their webpage to see this old version. Why they completely changed it to look like every other white noise app I do not know. On top of this, there are often gaps in the sound. The app can no longer play constant noise. I’m terribly sad and embarrassed I spread the good news of the one and only simple, reliable white noise app only to find the app has been unrecognizable altered, defective. ✓ Used to be the bestThis app got me through grad school, but that was when it worked in a desktop browser, which allowed me to layer brown noise underneath SimplyRain. And we used to be able to really fine tune the rain and thunder levels, but that’s been cut significantly. There is no browser or desktop functionality anymore, and despite consolidating all the sounds into one app it is not possible to layer or mix them—we can only use one at a time. So that’s why I wish I could give this five stars, but really have to deduct two stars for taking a great concept and making it worse over time. 3 stars might be generous. ✓ One major problemI recommend simplynoise to almost everyone I talk to who ever has an issue with sleep or unwanted noise or focus. It’s an amazing tool and I use it daily. However, there’s one major issue that has persisted over months and months with the app: when the playback is interrupted by any other app whether it’s a a phone call, an alarm, a video, or anything really, the app will not resume playback until it is force quit and restarted. This is extremely annoying and a behavior not observed in any other app paid or free. I wish the developers would squash this bug once and for all... and maybe deliver on the remaining sound packs that have been “coming soon” for almost as long as those app has existed....Version: 3.2

✓ Nice app but needs updating for iOS 7I've used this app a lot to help my baby get to sleep. The sound it generates is great (though better through headphones) but the app has a few quirks, specifically that it's quite hard to turn off once it's running in the background. It also hasn't been updated for a while. If you have iOS 7 and choose an oscillation mode the volume meter will be permanently on-screen making the device hard to use..Version: 1.3

✓ Please fix timer issue!Love this app and depend on it to sleep every night. But with the new upgrade, setting the timer with a super-sensitive slide touch control is SO ANNOYING! You can literally never set it for the amount of time you want. As soon as you lift your finger off, it flips to a different time (sometimes an hour ahead)! ✓ Great App, but Update LackingSimplyNoise is still the Gold Standard when it comes to white noise. However, the new timer slider is nearly useless. It doesn't allow the user to choose a specific time and jumps around in odd increments.
