✓ Great MagazineThe magazine is excellent but it needs an index or contents page on the iPad so you can quickly get to recipes. Once you have several additions it becomes difficult. The main problem is with subscription, I have bought a year subscription from iTunes, it says I am subscribed but I cannot get the issues without paying for it again. iTunes tell me it is the good food mag who are the developer and I must go to them, they push me back to iTunes. iTunes refunded my money and said buy it again, but it still says I am subscribed. I emailed the developer, an email address at good food mag and they could not even be bothered to reply. I have now bought a subscription from good food direct and still cannot get the latest mag. ✓ Good foodI downloaded this and there is one free magazine that have recipes, etc. It's not any different than the Martha Stewart app, 1 free magazine is all you get. If you are looking for a super great app, get the Big Oven app. It only has recipes, but the pictures are beautiful and there are thousands of recipes, all for free..Version: 1.4.0
✓ Content great. App horribleI’ve had this since 2013 and rely on it as my go to for healthy eating and planning menus. There are great recipes with full nutritional information (that’s why you fail NYT cooking). A nice mix of quick and easy along with longer cooking times for someone who works, but does all the cooking. The app, however, is abominable. Pages, even on a downloaded issue, load so slow. Before the page loads, swiping left and right works, but nothing else, so you end up going to a different recipe instead of scrolling down to the one you wanted. 21 seconds from tap to loaded? Are you joking? Bookmarks from the previous version are gone. Stop doing this. Only the content from the most recent “upgrade” is searchable - which is also abysmally slow. Bookmarks used to be sorted by when you added the page. This meant I could go back to my bookmarks, unflag and reflag to pop a recipe to the top. Very helpful in menu planning for the week and seeing what I haven’t made in awhile. Bookmarks page will sometimes not load with just an error. Most of my library is now digital screen shots. This increases the time it takes to find a recipe in the bookmarks. Didn’t need a dark mode Features needed: Elastic search that uses tags like the categories in instant recipe finder. I don’t want every recipe that mentions rice when trying to make stir-fry rice. Print recipe. If I’m cooking a big meal, switching recipes is a pain. Printing screen shots is a waste because of the layout. Recipe feedback. There are recipes which have errors like missing the ingredients. December 2022, warm winter bean salad. Other recipes list an ingredient but don’t use it in the instructions. Shopping list (used to have this) Unit converter. The old issues have metric and English units..Version: 8.2

✓ Robbing gits with no help to unsubscribe.Just the worst customer service. If you’ve put purchased through apple then you won’t have any help to unsubscribe. Apart from the app being unusable I also have to continue paying £40 a year for the privilege. Customer service initially tried to assist then what they thought was their final attempt of help closed my complaint off and now I have to start the process again. ✓ Latest Upgrade is a NightmareI’ve been a customer for years and always enjoyed the app and content. The upgrade last week has resulted in me losing 9 issues. I have the ones before and after and the help desk just keeps asking me about another subscription which would have been a year lost not 9 months. The app won’t open on my iPad and I’ve checked the iOS version and it’s fine and the upgrade deleted ALL my bookmarks going back years saving favourite recipes. It’s even now deleted ones I added from the latest issue post the app upgrade. Can’t say how disappointed I am in the mess this upgrade has caused me and the time it is taking to sort out..Version: 7.0.0
✓ Do not waste your timeHaving a printed subscription is still the way to go. There is a serious downside to the app. There is no way to print directly from the app. There is no way to backup the issues you access to your computer. If you change iPad or upgrade your iPad you need to download all the issues again. That is assuming you can download them again. Downloads are extremely slow. You must tell it to download each issue because there is no download queue. What is the sense of the "restore previous purchased issues" when it will not and can not do that? They do not understand "Restore Previous Purchases". There are missing issues. Most of the embedded videos are broken. This new version does not have the same functionality that the previous version had. This is a cookbook and not a magazine. This is not what I purchase back in 2011, 2012 and 2013. ✓ New update makes app useless!How dare you do this?!? You have turned a great app into a useless piece of software. The new update has taken away all of my favourite recipes (hundreds of them), I have to redownload every issue I have ever had, I cannot put the recipes into landscape on the iPad so useless for cooking and to top it all off you can't categorise your favourites into vegetarian, meat or whatever, you have to have it all in the same tap and scroll down! Also it doesn't tell you when your subscription runs out anymore and you can't access the favourites tab from the issues library anymore. Absolutely useless. Thank God I baked up my iPad last night and can go back to the previous version, which I will by the way! I'm still tempted to ask for my money back, this update is so awful it beggars belief! ✓ Don’t waste your moneyAll my library gone AGAIN! Only this time the app is sending me on a cat and mouse chase trying to re download. How you have also managed overnight to jump to a 4.7 rating from what it was is laughable. Whoever deals with this app should never be allowed near a computer again. ✓ Old issues not workingSubscription cancelled a while ago after some dreadful changes to the app, e.g. loss of landscape. I now find that old issues are not working properly e.g. I can see a photo of the dish but cannot “spin” the page to see the recipe instructions. This renders all this past issues useless. ✓ BBC Good FoodThe new app has many new features but how will any user know? Whenever I launch the app after getting the April 2020 issue, it simply crashes on opening. I cannot see any of my issues anymore. I am using iOS 12 on an iPad Air. This cannot be right, Thank you for your reply. Sadly, I cannot open the app. As soon as it launches (after 15 secs or so) it closes again. I do not see anything apart from the splash screen. As there as been no resolution to this issue I am forced to cancel. Since I can not see any of the nine years of issues I will seek a refund. I would prefer it to have the look of a book where you can ‘turn’ the pages etc and get the ‘feel’ of a glossy magazine. Maybe I can change to paper? ✓ The cost of the in app magazines doubled in two weeks. In apps are not transferrable.The app is great - the photos, the recipes, the way the magazines are presented - love it! Got frustrated though by the fact that after I downloaded almost all the issues, I received an iPad 2 as a birthday present and surely the first thing I wanted to have there was my Good Food. Each issue cost me $2.99, so went throughout the developer web site to learn about in app purchases but didn't find any warnings about transferring magazines. Didn't really find any definite info on the Internet except for replenishable and non-replenishable purchases but nothing about what categories magazines fall under. So decided to download he magazines on the new iPad and got charged again. I think the developers should put a clear note regarding transferring the magazines to another iPad. Finally I decided to spend the money again as I love the magazine, and it's now $5.49 per issue comparing to $2.99 I paid two weeks ago!!! This is really steep. The clock through contents page links NEVER work unless the issue is downloaded for offline use. Downloading issues takes ages and if you leave the app does not continue to download. ✓ They've thought about thisPrevious views: A great magazine and this app is not just a paper magazine format reproduced in electronic format: they've properly engaged brain to develop a format suitable for iPads etc. It is very easy to follow & the content is as good as ever. Impressive: 5 stars Post iOS7 download: freezes whenever I try to open it with the current magazine (which I want to download) all blacked out. As everything freezes I can't even find a way of contacting them to get it fixed. Frustrating as it's a very well thought out app... when it works!.Version: 1.6.2
