IPGMail for Negative User Reviews

Cannot install update - incompatible with this iPadI have version 3.0.1 installed in my iPad Mini but the latest update version 3.0.2 will not install - reports the message cannot install - incompatible with this iPad. I have the latest update to iOS installed. What's going on here?.Version: 3.0.1

Waste of moneyDoesent do anything that it advertised.Version: 2024.11.1

Mail? Only sortofThis app does everything it says it does, but it is a fairly inelegant solution to email cryptography. It relies a lot on copy-pasting stuff between mail.app and it. Gets the job done for a cheap price, but it sets back the cause of email crypto by making it a way-too-many stepped process..Version: 2.0.3

Crashes easily, on many activitiesWorked well with just one key, but as soon as I imported another, and tried to do anything else, app crashes (I am on most r cent update). Can't really use it at all, thus the low rating..Version: 3.5.7

Still doesn't work for meUnable to successfully import my private key, so it's of no use to me. Tried to contact the developer twice about this, but had no response. And still not working in 1.31 on an iPad. Fortunately, OpenPGP works fine and was free..Version: 1.31

Why renaming file after decryptionThis app is good, but why it renames the file after it is decrypted?.Version: 2022.8.28

One of the Better OnesLooks like it still cannot handle subkeys for sign and encrypt operations. While it’s understandable that GnuPG implementation of subkey functionality are not within strict specs, app developer should probably not refer to it as being interoperable with GnuPG. I use subkeys for day-to-day operations, reserving my primary key for certification and admin tasks. IPGMail crashes when I try to enable TouchID for my private subkeys; it works fine if I copy-and-paste the password but it’d be a lot more convenient if I can use the security provided by the iPhone Keychain..Version: 3.6.24

Request FeatureNeeds the ability to remove the "using iPGMail" metadata..Version: 3.1.6

Crash!Tried creating a 4096-bit private key and the app always crashed!.Version: 2.6.0

Bad settingIncludes PGP version metadata line in messages even when that option is toggled off in settings, revealing iPhone usage for PGP, a bad OPSEC risk and social hazard online..Version: 2023.24.1

Public KeysI give it a 3. I would give it a five if it allowed pasting a public key into the keyring (as it once did)..Version: 2.9.5

Needs workIssues encountered so far: * searching keyserver fails if there is a space in the search field * trying to add a public key from a keyserver does nothing * app will only store RSA keys Functionality / UX is hampered by iOS limitations, but otherwise, seems to have potential..Version: 1.01

Waste of moneyCouldn't even get it to work and there where no instructions on how to set it up.Version: 3.1.7

Below parA bit of a lousy interface. Also it only seems to works with addressees who have key pairs--you cannot also send unencrypted mail as well Plus it couldn't look up keys in a hky:// keyholder locator, it added http://. Not the end of the world, it did eventually find the URL. I would really like an encryption program that integrates into iOS's Mail App, like GPG Tools does with the Mac Mail App..Version: 1.53

Random ResetStarted using this today, created a new key pair and subsequently used it as a form of two factor authentication for a BTC trading site. The site encodes a phrase with your public key and then you decrypt it with your private key to retrieve the phrase and input that on the site to gain access. This was working for a couple of hours with no issues. In fact very well, automatically decrypting the PGP message in my clipboard. That was however until 5 minutes ago when I opened the app and found that my key pair has gone. Restarted the app, no change. Hard reset the phone, no change. I'm now locked out of my account on the trading site wth hundreds of £s of BTC. They won't reset the account for security reasons. In hindsight I should have backed up the key but in reality it shouldn't be so unreliable. Very unhappy..Version: 3.0.7

Couldn't figure outI was looking for a PGP app and figured if this can encrypt and decrypt emails I can import my key and encrypt and decrypt any body of text (being emails) but couldn't figure the app out at all. No idea even how the email side works or how I was supposed to import a key and view the encrypted text. Plus a crappy interface for a paid app. I'd probably pay double and get the other even better app for PGP email Tbh fam.Version: 3.1.1

App crashApp crashed after I updated 3.5.8 then I tap the Files menu button on iOS 9.Version: 3.5.8

UselessFailed to import private key via Dropbox.Version: 1.23

Crash issuesThe latest version of the app simply crashes when trying to view or decrypt files. The attempt of the developer to fix crash issues on older devices causes the app to crash on devices that previously used to work..Version: 3.5.3

No way to manage local storageNeeds a scalable way to manage local storage use. The only way to clean up local copies of decrypted messages seems to be to select and delete each message individually. This needs a ‘delete all’ button and an option to automatically delete local files after a set time..Version: 3.6.28

Very useful but could use a UX and UI upgradeThe app is very useful but lacks a decent UX and user interface. For example, I can't search keys or names or addresses to send an encrypted email to..Version: 3.1.6

A really good effort so farIpgmail looks like it is almost going to achieve what I am after however one glaring problem seems to be that only RSA algorithms are accepted. I am still testing but this app does seem very promising! I would love to assist in contributing if possible!.Version: 1.07

Not compatible with the 5C?OK, why? Why is this app no longer compatible with the 5C? What does it need, suddenly, that the 5C can't do? Why?.Version: 3.0.1

No thanksI have stopped using this app..Version: 2.00

Private key password does not workThis app looks decent but the private key password does not work so it's useless to me. Please fix!!!!.Version: 2023.40.1

DrawbacksOK for sending an email but two major drawbacks: 1. Navigating contacts when you have hundreds is clunky and even regular or recent contacts still require you to use the clunky interface. 2. Using this to reply to emails is a non starter as it is designed really for the occasional new outbound email and does not recieve emails..Version: 3.0.3

Refreshing keysWhen trying to refresh the Facebook public key it eventually became apparent that you need to delete the old key before adding the new one. Key management is a bit clunky as there is little to say if the operation worked or failed..Version: 3.6.38

Feature RErequestProgram does what it states. Developer responds to emails. Why 3 stars? 1 major feature still missing. The ability to sign a users key. The PGP Web of Trust is what makes PGP one of the defacto public key technologies used. I went through the emailing process in PGP, received a plaintext unsigned message from the developer saying he's been thinking about it almost instantly. What? The guy writing a PGP application didn't use it to respond.. Zimmerman would not approve ;) if you were already thinking about it prior to my reach out a month ago, why am I still waiting to recommend your application to the public? Still awaiting a way to get keys signed through the app..Version: 1.19

Doesn't workBuggy. Can't get this to work..Version: 1.38

Crashes During Private Key ImportI was able to import four private keys successfully, but the app consistently crashed when I tried to import another of my private keys. Frustratingly, the developer’s web site also appears to be broken. I eventually found that removing some old signatures from the key allowed for successful importation..Version: 3.6.9

Password problemThe private key is as strong as the password protecting it, for that reason the password is software generated and can’t be memorized. If pgp message is imported through clipboard the app would ask for password which you have to switch the app again to go copy it and return to the app to see the password screen gone!. I wish the developer make it possible to store the password in the app and enable it by touch/face ID.Version: 3.6.1

App won’t openI loved this app before I started experiencing bugs. Sometimes I’m unable to import a message or key and have to force close the app to get it to work. But now I can’t get the app to open at all very disappointing..Version: 3.6.38

Bugs bugs bugsThis all would be so good but too often the developer updates it and breaks it. So frustrating. I simply cannot rely on this app because one minute it works and the next update breaks it..Version: 2023.37.1

Do not waste your time on this garbage. The most frustrating non functioning garbage I’ve ever used.Version: 3.6.6

Won’t openCrashes every time I try and open the app. Worked fine for 10 mins and now won’t open. Tried to re-install, same thing..Version: 3.6.5

WoefulContacts import doesn't work properly with a large contact list. Limited functionality. No real information on security measures used. Bad integration with mail app. Definitely not worth the money!.Version: 2.5.8

Needs workWithout a way to import private keys this app is next to useless. If and when however they sort that problem out it would be a 5 star app!.Version: 3.0.3
