The words allowed/disallowed are also questionable. But still the game is fun and strategic. For anyone trying to learn how to play scrabble, this is a good game to try. ✓ Nice little word gameJust like Scrabble and similar games. Additional twist - the app includes vocal commentary on your score, the word you used and random words of encouragement, etc.. Nice feature but could get boring after a while but you can always turn the voice off in the settings! Game plays well and it a clean and tidy layout. Dictionary used seems to be good unlike some other word game apps. Tried the medium level. Mr Word's score was visible but could not see mine! NEEDS UPDATING - the only time I know my score is once the game is over whether I play in Easy or Medium levels. And whilst you are doing this what about fixing the problem of crashing early in the game when you confirm your word and the screen goes blank. You don't lose your game but you do have to open the app to get back to where you were, then re-enter your word and confirm. Usually only happens once per game, so far!.Version: 3.2

✓ My Word for Mr WordHave just downloaded Mr. Word which is a very good and playable derivative of the old game Scrabble. After a while you get fed up to the computers comments but you can switch the voice off before you start. The "Easy" level allows the novice to win the majority of games and allows you to build up a confidence to play better. The "Define" function allows you to look at your opponents word and gives you the dictionary definition (useful if you can remember the obscure words).The game allows two letter words which I don't think Scrabble allowed (I might be wrong). Being able to see your opponents tiles is a big difference to Scrabble but it allows you to place tiles so you don't set your opponent up for a killer word. Ok, one is not playing with a real person which is a shame but that doesn't bother me. My main gripe is that in the conventional game abbreviations are not permitted and having them allowed is incredibly frustrating as "sib" (securities and investments board) was deemed acceptable yet "uk" or "usa" was not..I could give many other examples and this led to immense frustration as there seemed no logic as to why one was permitted and the other was not. ✓ Doesn't always score correctlyI'm really enjoying playing this game, but the bottom middle "triple word" square doesn't always work. Twice now I've noticed it not adding up correctly, the first time it added up the score but didn't triple it, the second time I should have had scores for 2 words plus the triple but it only gave me the score for one word (not the one that was crossing the triple word score, so again no triple points either). ✓ Mr. WordI have played Mr Word from the time I got my iPad, that is for about two and a half years. If I have no game going with another person on some other App then I play Mr. Word. I like the fact that I can choose different levels of difficulty and while I often lose to Mr. Word I feel that I am given a fair chance. I do sometimes wish that I could win rather more often. I do better if I am concentrating and that is as it should be. I am sometimes flummoxed by the words that Mr Word comes up with and wish that I had access to his dictionary. ✓ Great fun for freeIt's really cute, and I find it quite enjoyable. I think it's best played against another player in two player mode. At first I was smitten with Mr Word - he does play like a human. The real downside I've discovered is that there's no challenge. He moderates his play so that he stays roughly around your score. So when the description says he will 'match his play to your skill level' he sort of overdoes it - if you have a bad round and only score a few points, he'll play a ridiculously bad move so that he's still around your score, even if he could have played something a lot better. Basically, Mr Word lets you win while trying to create the illusion that he's not. The only way I've found to overcome this is to deliberately play extremely badly - constant two letter words, something like that. And that's hardly the point. So i'd love for Mr Word to be a bit more of a challenge, and maybe to have a high score list or something. Besides that, still giving it 5 stars because it's brilliant for a free app, and playing against a real person using this app is really super..Version: 1.1
✓ Almost Totally WonderfulI love this scrabble game! The graphics are brilliant. Having the dictionary at hand has been very educational for me, too. My only complaints are (besides that it's totally addicting) that the Pro Radio app ad pops up and freezes. The "Done" button doesn't seem to work, so I have to uninstall and reinstall. ✓ Great but a few small issues.Really great free word game but there's a few little annoyances with it. Firstly, when in player vs player there's no option to disable the screen rotation. Which is very, very annoying when the person you're playing with then has to flip the whole iPad upside down every turn. Secondly, the dictionary is a tad iffy. Some words such as "Prex" and other archaic/non_english words are accepted but stuff like 'da', 'com', 'zen' and other dictionary accepted words aren't allowed by Mr. Word. Although not necessary an allowed word editor would be a great expansion. Even if you charge for it. Sometimes it reuses the multiplier under a letter that has previously been used, sometimes it doesn't. I've played single mode on iPad every day since downloading weeks ago... ✓ Great gameI have enjoyed playing this game over a few months but when I downloaded an iOS upgrade it started crashing all the time, wouldn't give me a score and put all sorts of weird letters instead of my name. Consequently I had to delete it and reload, which seems to have sorted the problem but it's now wiped my score. It is frustrating when they use abbreviations I don't know and therefore couldn't use and also when you know a word but it won't let you use it, ie zen and zo (a cross between a cow and a yak)' also spelt dzo. So many times I could have used that when stuck with a z. However, it is a very good game that I will continue to play..Version: 4.1
