✓ Getting slow, crashy, and buggyI love Computer Music magazine on the iPad, particularly for the embedded video player. Watching music production tutorials easily inside the magazine instead of only reading them is a huge deal. However, this app is starting to hang while turning pages, takes a really long time to load the startup screen's current magazine details, etc... on my ipad 3. According to recent tablet sales figures, most people, myself included, do not plan to update their tablets anytime soon. Please make sure the latest app updates work well with older iPads. It's a magazine: page loading should be snappy and responsive to make for a leisurely experience..Version: 4.2
✓ To Haukur & MemphidelityUPDATE Sept. 6, 2015: First of all the quality of the content hasn't changed - editorially the magazine is the same. What has changed is the app. It's getting slower, fatter, more bloated, and frankly just worse with each and every update. It feels like it's due to just sloppy programming and development. It's just slow now and kind of leaves you feeling like a crash is always just around the corner, always. There is also the "New Issue" indicator dot which is permanent now and annoying. Yes, even if every issue has been read, it displays the indicator. OLD REVIEW: "To Haukur & Memphidelity" You're both absolute morons. The app IS free, were you charged anything for downloading it? More importantly, did you even bother to read what you were downloading? No, you obviously didn't. Why on earth would CM be completely free to read? The app you downloaded is just the vessel to deliver the content. It clearly explains everything in the description. Yet you give a perfectly good and perfectly functioning app 1 star because of YOUR STUPIDITY. Next time you're in a bookstore, please raise heII because you can't have the mag for free. Idiots. ✓ Updates, for most apps, are great...... unfortunately I have no idea what the creators of Computer Music have improved with the latest update. Can the developers can add a bit more information to the 'update' other than 'general bug fixes and improvements', also, if they could fix the bug that deletes all of my past issues when an 'update' occurs that would be great!.Version: 3.6.5
✓ ExcellentThe app is excellent!!! Navigating the mag is extremely easy with a variety in of tools provided; resizing the pages just works - even in my old iPad. I haven't experienced a magazine app that contains videos, links, pics etc that is so easy to navigate without freezing or hanging. The only complaint is that I can't readily see how to remove auditioned mags from my library. Oh, and that's another good thing - we can really audition mags by re-sizing pages so we can actually read them - unlike some other music tech style mags..Version: 4.9.3

✓ So what's wrong with showing a proper sized preview?Check out the Cooking Light app, now! While not perfect, there one thing that sets this app millions of miles above the rest. FULL PAGE SAMPLES!!! Because it doesn't have the micro-view offered by Zino and other Newsstand apps you can actually SEE what an issue offers. You almost want to buy every issue, matter of fact I'm getting a subscription! Imagine-FX, Guitar Techniques, Official Xbox Magazine, Zino and Future Publishing, pay attention and see how it's done right. Bravo Cookling Light Magazine! Great mag in the stores, but the jury is still out with the app. The previews for issues you can get are way to small to see what is being offered. ✓ Defective app fails to restore my purchasesAfter updating to IOS6, the app failed to restore my purchases. Magazine said to speak to Apple. I sent Apple copies of my receipts showing purchases. Apple said they can't explain why my magazines disappeared but they can't restore because magazines are treated like buying ammo in a game---once you use it, its gone. Don't buy magazine's through in-app purchases until they get their act together. No guarantees that your purchases will be secure..Version: 2.2

✓ Time to ModerniseI love CM, but recently I chucked out hundreds of mags - Guitarist, CM, Uncut, Future Music etc. Using an iPad has made magazine subscriptions so much easier, and it means no clutter in my home studio. However, I will not subscribe to the CM digital edition until they make the cover disc available as a download. Therefore, no more money from me CM until you get out of the dark ages as I'm not subscribing to the paper copy ever again..Version: 1.6
✓ Just a PDFI've only got the free back-issue, but it's enough to tell me not to buy any more. This should be so much better, but it's just like a non-interactive PDF on your iPad. ✓ Amazing but would be nice to read on my MacThis magazine is amazing and has taught me over 80% of everything I know about production and sound engineering. The in-app video is a briliant innovation. The only thing is I would love to be able to read to on my Mac, on a proper screen rather than a bloody phone. 3 Stars. 5 when I can read it on something bigger without having to buy an iPad specifically for the purpose. I recommend the paper copy (of which I have over a decade's worth stacked up in another room somewhere) to EVERYBODY who even remotely interested in composing music using computers..Version: 4.9.3

✓ What no more video? !I read this on my iPad. For a while they were doing more and more videos that I could watch directly from the digital edition on my iPad. This latest issue. There were 2 as opposed to an issue a couple of months ago where there were more than twenty. This was my favorite, but if there’s not going to be how to videos that can be easily accessed on my iPad, I may cancel my subscription. ✓ Crashing videosI’m very frustrated with how often this app crashes when trying to either play an embedded video or click a link. I’m using an iPad Pro, and running iOS 11. I have had the app crash no less than 20 times while trying to read one article tonight. ✓ CM is great.Glad they finally Sorted my Account !THE MAGAZINE IS GREAT BUT THE APP IS NOT !!! Finally, after MONTHS they got my back issues sorted. The CM mag is great for hints, tips and reviews of the lates progs. The downloads are excellent. HOWEVER, they have “simplified” the filesilo.Co.U.K. and now NOTHING APPEARS past issue 315. You have to answer 3 questions from the mag to access the downloads. You really need 2 screens and copies of the APP to do this. One to read and answer the questions. Another one to search for the answers. Because, if you try doing it on 1 App , then every time you go back to put the answers in you need to start again. Maybe they think you should write down all the questions, then find the answers and write them down; then put them in ! SIMPLE ! I DONT THINK SO. The App was first updated because of a change from myfavouritemagazine.co.uk to mymagazines.co.uk or magazinesdirect.com. Now I cannot get my issues from 2016 to 2020 nearly 60 issues. The CM App from Future Publishing say it’s nothing to do with them because they only deal with iTunes subscribers for the App….but they are the ones taking the money out of my BANK for my subscription ! I even wrote for help to Andy the editor of CM and he was very kind but !!!!!!.Version: 6.4

✓ Great mag, bad appThe app stopped updating my subscription, and attempts to contact customer service result in an auto-reply FAQ that does nothing to help or even acknowledge the problem. I have no idea if they are even aware there is a bug that needs to be fixed, as I have written them twice and received the same form response. ✓ Wow!Amazing material, but as of the past few months there have been numerous updates resulting in the redownloading of all my 31 issues. This takes an additional 30-40 minutes of download time. And now 2 of the issues arent showing up most likel because they were free when the app was originally released. Also the issues are jumbled in the app and not in any order. The browse issue feature has made browsing cery difficult because when you click on a page while browsing then go back to browsing, you have to restart browsing at page 1, even if you're on page 115! The search feature is awesome. But I can't even access any issues as of right now, so until that changes, this app recieves 1 star. The second this changes, I will give another 5 star review... ✓ Something of a SwizzleThis looks like a free edition of the mag. It's not. It's an app that allows you to buy the mag. I downloaded this, thinking to enjoy a review copy (even if it was out of date) to see if the balance of technical discussion to hip hop fanboyism was sufficient. I still don't know. ✓ Knuckle dragging obstacle course dubious softwareThe worst interface I've ever encountered. The most absurdly cryptic, barrier ridden, money trapping, obstacle course of coding to what should be a straight ahead, ordinary, magazine reader. This software has it's hand out asking for money on nearly ever button. I must have refreshed my iTunes subscription 4 times by now. It is happy to play ads for other stuff but to just download and read? Nada, zilch, try another button... Where is my one button that says: "You are recognised as a Subscriber. Press this button to download and read the magazine."???!!! The amount of price tags everywhere meant I cannot know what is mine and what is still theirs. The software did not recognise I'm already an iTunes paid subscriber multiple times and I'm pretty sure I'll need to go to iTunes to check my account hasn't been double dipped by the equally cryptic duplicate level of password protection offered by this coding carbuncle. It's been 8 hours and I still haven't read any of the subscription issues I've paid for. Convenience factor? Nil Anger value? High to Critical You might be better off buying it at the newsagent rack if you want to read the magazine. But if you want to get bored with ancient outdated payment/delivery methods then this is your best avenue. And you'd think, it being about "Computer Music" it might be ok... ✓ Used to be a valued sourceComputer Music used to be a valuable reference source for music producers that are focused on production from their computer, however in recent years it has taken a turn from that path to more of a pop culture style magazine. Not to mention the app needs a major overhaul. You can not minimize it and return to the app without it freezing and needing to be restarted, thus leaving you only one choice; scroll all the way down the huge back catalogue list to find the magazine you were reading. I know with the resources that CM has they can do much better and I sincerely hope they do..Version: 7.1.1
