✓ Nearly missed an opportunityUsed the app to try and do an interview, but when it came to trying to record the video kept on saying something interrupted the video. No support, just some useless information on their website. It was lucky I was able to use a friends computer to complete the interview. I hope I don’t have to ever use this stupid non functional app again.Version: 4.1.0
✓ DignityIt was created so you can tell yourself " you were unsuccessful on this occasion "... already at the time you send your CV only someone pockets money for each person who will use it. ✓ Misleading contentI was supposed to play some games before my interview. There was button on the screen saying “practice now” I thought it actually let you practice the game so you get familiar with the games, but, it actually submitted the results to my interviewer immediately after the last game. That’s quite cheeky. I’m very much unsatisfied with my experience..Version: 4.4.0

✓ Unable to install on an iPhone 6sI’ve spent 2 hours texting back and forth with tech support and was unable to get the app to initialize on my personal iPhone 6s. The error screen insisted that the app had determined that I did not have sufficient access to grant it permission to use my phone’s camera and microphone. It suggested I contact my phone’s administrator. Checking under “settings” further showed that the app had access to my camera but had not requested (nor did I have the option to grant) access to my phone’s microphone. Tech support ran me through all the usual steps - restart the phone, reinstall the app, switch from WiFi to data, etc. but in the end they told me I need to try the app on another device. Is my 6s (with up to date iOS) really so old that it is no longer supported?.Version: 4.2.1
✓ Videos don't always record.The video interviews often don't record. The preview windows are fine and the countdown is fine but once it reaches 1 and removes the countdown and starts recording it just immediately freezes and nothing is recorded. The audio level bar also doesn't move. You have to force close the app. Sometimes force closing and starting it up again would get 1 question to work other times it needed 10+ force closes. Then I plugged my phone in to charge and it only needed 1 force close to start each question. Running an iPhone 6S 64GB so shouldn't have any problems just recording video..Version: 3.4.13
✓ App froze during interviewThe app froze during interview. There isn’t any help available to recover from it. I even killed the app and started again but it froze at the same point. Secondly, interview is a two way communication. Doing an interview through Hire Vue gives a feeling that potential employer can’t be bothered to take half an hr out to have a conversation. I hire people as part of my current role and I would never use this to interview potential candidates. Also, I’ll give a pass to an employer using this for an interview..Version: 4.0.5
✓ Zero starsFor an app that is supposed to be able to be used on a mobile device I was disappointed when my device received a call and my interview was terminated by the app, without a feature to resume the interview. when I don't get the job, the finger will be firmly pointed at this useless app..Version: 3.2.7
✓ Poor candidate experienceAs a Human Resources leader, I signed a contract with HireVue in my last position in an effort to increase recruiter efficiency. Now that I’m in the job market, I’m finding that many employers are utilizing this technology. From a candidate’s perspective, recorded video interviews like HireVue are incredibly impersonal and awkward. The whole experience reflects poorly on the employer, as all of the burden, time investment and inconvenience falls on the applicant. In an effort to increase efficiency, the employer is effectively giving candidates a negative first impression. Employers who continue to utilize this technology are ultimately doing themselves a disservice. In their effort to increase efficiency, they will ultimately lose out on the strongest candidates, as they will no longer be willing to participate in this cold, mechanical experience. For this reason, as time goes on I believe employers will discontinue the use of recorded interviews. After being on the candidate side of this process I will strongly discourage any future employer from utilizing recorded video interviews such as this..Version: 3.4.18

✓ This Artificial Intelligence has its own agendaI met with the hiring manager of a large retail chain, he said I was what they were looking for and he would hire me right now but I had to be interviewed by this artificial intelligence app. I had good lighting, no background noise, I practiced, I got all dressed up as if it were a real human interviewing me and it came back "unqualified". The hiring manager called me and told me and said to take it again. I did it all over and got the same result. I have never been fired, held my jobs for years, received many merit raises and now I just wanted a part time job to supplement social security and this bot says I'm unqualified to put shoes on a shelf! ✓ AnnoyingI completed my interview but was not ready to upload it.. Later when I tried it gave me a hard time.. It told me my Internet connection was holding up the data from being uploaded.. And doesn't give you an option to do the interview again to try the process again!.Version: 2.1.1

✓ Most useless way of interviewingThis is the most inefficient ways of interviewing, specially if it is a recorded interview with one way communication only. It defeats the main purpose of a professional interview, where it is just not the answers to the questions asked by interviewer, but also the whole experience of interaction between two or more human beings, where both parties can look each other eye to eye and communicate not just with words, but also with body language. This is a dangerous trend and will not benefit anyone in the end. The interviewer can never judge the correct personality and knowledge of a person by recorded answers. ✓ App behaves rudelyAs far as I can tell, this app messes with the audio and video. I did all the recommended set-up and testing and still had to re-boot my device in after the interview started in order to be seen and heard. After using this app, one seems to have to re-boot in order for FaceTime to work properly..Version: 3.3.3

✓ Missed an opportunity...Absolutely so upset with this app...I was given an opportunity to work with Optus and I completed all the video applications then began uploading my responses. It has glitched and is stuck on “uploaded 5 of 6 responses” meaning I cannot finish my application! I have emailed 3 different emails to try and fix the problem and it’s now been 3 days and the problem is still persisting...and I haven’t gotten any responses. I have MISSED an opportunity at an amazing job and am more than disappointed and absolutely devastated that I missed such an amazing opportunity at a job I was so passionate about..Version: 4.5.10

They must all be from millennials or younger! Even worse when I got a notification about battery levels it reset the question I was answering! So I had to start again. ✓ Why?I honestly did not like this whole video interview I would rather be interviewed in person. Talking to my phone is not necessarily something I would like doing I’m a people person. Not everyone wants to sit somewhere quiet starring at a screen I understand you can simply make the video recording not show yourself but you can still see yourself all they do is put a sheer setting over you. ✓ DO NOT USE—COST ME THE JOBI decided to use this app to do my interview. I decided to practice first and after 1 question it asked if I wanted to keep keep practicing or proceed to the interview. I made sure to click keep practicing but it took me to the actual interview without my consent or knowledge. ✓ Gets the job done, but impersonal.I suppose we will all be interviewing in this format so we should get used to it. The app does the basics without any extras that don’t need to be there. That being said, things like this are impersonal and make the interview process more nerve-wracking than something in person- “practice” questions, countdown timers and the ability to review your answers are only there to irritate and frazzle. Scheduled phone interviews and video calls where you speak and meet someone in or hired by the company don’t give you so much time to wonder if that job on the other end of this impersonal app is actually worth it. ✓ Poor setupThe way the app runs you don't submit your interview as one final product but for some reason as individual pieces. There is no reviewing the final product and the next button is also the submit button. I have never seen an online resume or application where when you go to the next page it submits the prior. This is not common practice and no one should have to wonder if they can’t finish their work and look at the whole picture. Also if your service is to act as a medium for interviews why would you choose to go against the common practice? Why make your experience and specific style a unique challenge that interviewees have to add to their interview preparations? Further I believe little real effort was made to account for this and ensure people are made aware.
