Soundcraft ViSi Remote for Negative User Reviews

App Now CrashesIt’s been a year since this app was updated. Came into church this morning to run sound and now the app will not open. Even tried completely resetting the iPad and reinstalling ViSiRemote and it still crashes. Before the issue of crashing I learned a valuable lesson, never trust this app! I discovered that if you use mute groups you can not unmute any channels that have been muted at the board. What’s worse is you may not even realize the channels are muted since the app shows a channel being on and green..Version: 3.5.1

Practically useless…I use my iPad to control a variety of soundboards and Soundcraft is by far the worst. I have almost nothing nice to say about this app; it loses connection constantly and can’t reconnect unless I reboot the board. Sometimes I can see the meters move but nothing else is functioning. I have a 3rd-party app that works better than this one. On a scale of 1 to 10, it’s a 1..Version: 3.5.6

Pure garbageI can’t believe it’s been years since the app came out and still the same issue. I had to downgrade to an X32. I started to loose customers because of that app. Fix the danm app. I love this board.Version: 3.5.1

FbcpmUnable to link to soundboard after update. Checked all setting, restarted multiple times.Version: 3.5.1

Crashes Often - Limited Functionality - Please add more features and improve stability Harman!!Works well once syncs up with console, but often crashes when ipad goes into standby or comes back to the home screen, which requires a restart of the app. The features are limited to input volume (faders), bus sends, bus master volumes, GEQ on all main buses ( LCR MONO, AUXES 1-14, MTX's) There is no channel eq or dynamics, and there is no system function for loading scenes or recalling, cue list, mute groups, etc. All of which should be possible if you have ever used the Yamaha iPad apps - which turn the LS9 into a console I actually don't want to vomit on when I see it now... Harman / Soundcraft!!! I love your console!!! Please keeping pushing improvements to this app and bring it up to the same standard as the Yamaha / Allen and Heath ones! I will use the SiC/Vi1 to tour then :-).Version: 1.2.4

Need to upgrade featureYou guys need to work on upgrading the features of this app to be compatible with any new iPad and also to work with more of the features that’s on the hardware a mixer itself be worked through this app as well then told me and free of the hardware mixer.Version: 3.5.6

App freezesSometimes the metering simply goes to all full levels, but at the other times all control is lost until the board is restarted. I can’t believe soundcraft has not implemented a fix for this app.Version: 3.5.1

POSNormally I'm not a reviewer, nor do I complain much, but this app and the SI series in general is such complete garbage that I honestly felt compelled to let everyone know. Buy a CL, QL, M32, or if you're stuck in the SI budget, buy an X32. Sorry Soundcraft.. Over the course of 27 years in the business, I've given you tens of thousands of dollars, so I'm a big supporter. Sad to say that those days are over..Version: 3.4.3

BasicThe app is obviously only used on Soundcraft digital consoles and works well and is reasonably stable...but is so limited in comparison to what virtually every other manufacturer has available for their digital console....channel fader levels, and buss levels and graphic eq's and that's it. No metering, no channel eq, compression effex, mute groups.....updated recently so you name the channels from the iPad, but c'mon Soundcraft get your act together and get a lot lot more functions happening..Version: 1.2.4

FreezesAbout 10 minutes into using app. All meters freeze, resetting router and app do nothing. Very frustrating..Version: 3.5.1

Yes, the meters freezeI have experienced the meters freeze using this app and the Si Impact 2.0 software. Restarting the app, toggling WiFi and restarting the iPad are of no avail; so I have to consider that the problem is with the Si Impact firmware update. I do know that it uses UDP for this connection, but I have not had time to diagnose what is happening. The meters costs 1/2 star. The other thing is that the virtual faders are displayed as per their channel IDs. If you're like me, you move and reassign faders to optimize your workspace. Problem is, that's not reflected in the app. That's costs a 1/2 star. The final thing is no RTA. I realize this is not an advertised feature, but it would be extremely useful. That costs 1 star..Version: 3.4.3

You lose FX features with this appGreat Board cool app but unfortunately you lose FX features with this app.Version: 3.4.3

Won't even launchI have a non-jailbroken, up-to-date iOS, iPad 3 and this app won't launch, even after shutting completely off and on, killing all multitasking, deleting and reinstalling; nothing helps. I'm considering buying an expression 3 but this app needs to work. The competition is about to get my business. Update: finally got it to launch just by installing and deleting several times. Now that it's open, there is no way to demo the app; you have to select a device, which is hard cause I don't have one yet. Even though the description says, "Use in standalone mode for familiarization with console functions." I guess this isn't a selling tool for them..Version: 2.1.4

AverageUnlike many other consoles, this has barely any main features. All you can really do is control the faders, adjust eq, comp and gate. Where's the gain control, linking, mute groups and metering to name a few?? I've noticed it also doesn't sync properly when the iPad comes back out of sleep if you have adjusted something manually on the desk. The app should be an extension of the desk, instead it's like you guys just found out that wifi exists and we should all be amazed how we can move a fader from another part of the room. Very average app..Version: 2.0.24

Non functionalNo support from Soundcraft on fixing this it has been two years and nothing. This app is about 4 years behind any comparable app on the market. Every other manufacturer has a better app, sad when behringers cheapest console has a better app then Soundcraft SI series, embarrassing one of the reasons I don’t use the console anymore for small venues..Version: 3.5.1

GarbageNo user pages. To much wasted space. The dials are nice. Can’t recall cues, no mute groups..Version: 3.5.1

Limited IP addressesLimited to 192.168.#.# addresses. This is completely unacceptable as many halls and businesses use a different ip range and subnet. Fix to allow other IPs like 10.100 and subsets. Update: unresponsive developers. Over a year with many issues and no updates. Soundcraft makes good mixers but needs to fix this issue as competitors are realizing the potential of tablet integration and this impacts customer choices. Side note: the ViSi-Listen app for musicians to adjust their own mix is even worse..Version: 3.5.1

Updates a disappointmentAn effects group with a Tap Tempo is standard on all other Apps except this one. What an epic exclusion! I appreciate that this is an ageing capability but I baffled as to how this has not been addressed since 2013! Otherwise I am happy with the functionality for my purposes. It's clearly time to upgrade the desk and move on..Version: 3.5.1

Fader reorderMy issue is. If i have piano on socket/fader 3 and singer on socket/fader 4, and I decide to remove piano from socket/fader 3, and put singer into socket/fader 3, then when I copy/paste fader 4 to fader 3 the app will see that the piano is gone but it still thinks singer is on fader 4. So when I adjust volume on fader 3 on the app It actually adjust fader 4 on the console. In other words I removed the piano mic from the socket. I then moved the singer mic over to socket/fader 3 on the console, yet the app still shows and operates socket/fader 4 and the mic had been removed from socket 4. We need mute groups and solo. How about a good walkthrough video on how to use the features of this app for those that are learning this for their church for example?.Version: 3.5.6

Sound check onlyI am a volunteer as the sound engineer at a small theater. We just got an si impact. I am responsible for a couple of holiday shows and then a handful of other live bands, theater performances, and talks through the year. Not a professional. I experienced the sound board locking when using the app. This is a major concern. I’ll live within the limitation of knowing I get 5-10 minutes on the stage before needing to close the app or risk having to reboot the soundboard. Hoping upgrading firmware will fix this. (Minus 1 star or more) Last night during rehearsal, I used the group mute feature on the board and then went down to the stage to help the musician balance the monitors. One of the mics stopped working. Ran upstairs to the booth to find the sound board had the channel muted but the app said it was on. Lesson learned not to trust the app output. With our previous board and remote tool, I could run the show from anywhere as the app gave me access to nearly everything. My first impression is the si impact has more features and the app seems to lack more things than the presonus versions. I may only notice the missing things in the app because I am trying to do more with the board/app. The mechanical faders help a lot when going back and forth between app and board. However, I’d like to have the app reflect the fader pages and the order I’ve set up channels. I’d like to be able to use the mute groups or cues from the app as for many theater shows that’s what I am primarily doing away from the soundboard. Lots of other wish list items. That said, I can set main and monitor levels and tweak the eq from anywhere. But I expect I will have to run shows with this board from up in the booth with the actual board and not from the floor with the iPad app which is why it only gets 3 stars from me..Version: 3.5.1

Come onCome on Soundcraft - how about some marketing hype about why this remote control app has given users access to control only faders, mutes & solo's - surely this isn't it? After waiting forever (well a long time since it original expected release date) this is it - Come on!.Version: 1.0.9

Good, but could be betterCompared to the iPad apps for Yamaha digital consoles, it's nice to have an interface more like the console itself as well as the ability to access graphic EQs. However, I have found two big drawbacks: 1. Most egregiously, there apparently is no ability to configure this application on a larger enterprise-level network such as the one in my workplace. You are only offered the ability to input a console type and HiQNet number, not an IP/MAC address, meaning that even though you may be on the same subnet and the console has been assigned an IP address from that network, the app itself only recognizes addresses in the 192.168.x.x range used by consumer grade home wireless routers. The app is essentially useless to me unless I want to set up a separate wifi mode just to serve these consoles. 2. It would be helpful if the app "saw" the fader layers as configured on the console; normally I have fader 14 set as a stereo input for background music but n order to access it in the app I have to scroll aaaaaaaaalllllllll the way o the no of 64 input faders to get to it or have multiple touch inputs to select that one input from a different fader bank, which kind of ruins the functionality of what is otherwise the very best of the current crop of budget digital consoles..Version: 2.1.6

I've lost all confidence in Harmon and Soundcraft.What a joke..Version: 3.5.1

Missing FeaturesWe use in a church setup that is based around the CUE List. Unfortunately, this app does not include a CUE capability. It has worked nicely for EQ and mix contrib around the building. Please add CUE List control..Version: 3.5.1

Update very overdueWhen will this app get updated? iOS 17 is out but this has not been updated for 3 years. Poor customer support..Version: 3.5.6

Workable but limitedToday's mixing demands the use of iPads and remote control for every part of the console, metering, dsp and most aspects on the surface of a console, that is quickly accessible at the touch of a finger. This app however for the expression consoles just isn't up to par, especially with the completion, the app having so many limitations to it makes me reconsider purchasing the console altogether. Would love to see some updates to this app in the near future..Version: 1.2.4

Unstable connectionFor a free App, it's a good start. Pros: two data sends. Not only does the App control the faders, GEQ, on inputs, busses, and main L+R, M. But it also receives those same settings from the console hence two-way. CONS: Ive successfully synced it with a wireless router and a wireless access point, but I have never seen a connection hold for longer than 1-2 minutes before the connection drops. Although it does reconnect eventually by manually re-syncing the console, this is a major No-no when it comes to running live sound. Recommendations: like any new app, it may take awhile to fix some of those bugs and add some other features. I would like to see the ability to access the parametric EQ on each input channel for starts. For me that is what makes this wireless tablet App (IPad 2) a gem once finally implemented. Because then I could ring out my microphones pre-show on stage where the feedback occurs. After that I would like to access the other console features for each channel such as Input, gate, compressor, etc... Overall. Good job, but please continue development for truly a GREAT App to go along with a Great console..Version: 1.1.2

Read this soundcraftOk if someone from soundcraft reads this, you guys need to hire a real group of software editors to make this app work! Copy the Presonus app for all I care and put a soundcraft logo on it for all I care. I would never have bought the Si expression 3 if I knew your apps were such garbage.... I'm designed iPad apps so I know that It's not hard to make a functioning program ... Also U guys make awesome products so I know you are just being lazy... I'm a FOH engineer and I have to have functioning equipment that has the features I require to get my job done properly. Get with the program and don't screw over the people who rely on u to release functioning products!.Version: 1.2.4

Needs a lot of workI’ve used the Mackie DL1608 and the software on that is FAR better. The ViSi remote allows no access to mute groups, tap tempo, FX editing. It also only allows you to swipe 8 channels at a time. If I want to see channels 3-10 at once, no luck. Also, on the main screen, it won’t show me what the EQ curve is for each channel. On the Mackie, where the icon is above the fader, it shows me the EQ curve. No such luck here. There are some nice features, like being able to change input gain from the iPad and having some nice visuals on compression, but this app has a long way to go before it’s useful for running an entire show from it. You still definitely need access to the board itself, even once everything has been set during sound check..Version: 2.1.4

Could not connectHad no luck connecting, and seemed to crash a lot on iPad 2, worked better on new iPad, but still unable to connect. Tried changing HiQnet address and ip address on desk several times, restarted desk, but still no luck. Followed all instructions I can find, think it needs better connection troubleshooting. We were using a Belkin router that works fine with Ion Lx desk. (it was only plugged into Si Compact when we were trying to connect) I think this app has a lot of promise and I hope it will work in the future, it's one I've been waiting for..Version: 1.0.9

Helpful app except when meters freezeAs others have mentioned, after 30-45 minutes all the meters freeze. The only solution is to reboot the board which is not an option mid-show....Version: 3.5.1

Freezes wayyyyyyy too muchThe app is half decent when it works, but it only works 30% of the time! Version 3.5.1 is absolutely horrible when it comes to reliability. I used the app for a concert that I was the sound engineer for and it froze 8 times in a one hour time frame. Eventually I said forget it and just worked from the board directly. Sound craft really needs to work on this apps reliability..Version: 3.5.1

Works well with newer iPadsI’ve been using this app on my SiExpression3 for several years. Metering was slow, sometimes my adjustments would not take on the console, when I had 2 additional users mixing their own monitors it would freeze on the oldest iPad in our group. Last year I bought a new iPad and router with mumimo support. What a difference. Metering is very smooth now. Even when I had 53 inputs over the holidays. I have 3 guys mixing their own iems on visi listen, and me using visi remote. Works great now. STILL the app lacks basics...NO MUTE GROUPS. NO ACCESS to ROUTING or other menu functions. Yes, I’ve worked on A&E dLives, SQs, QLs, Yamahas, plenty of others that have better apps. But for the price point, this works for me. If Soundcraft would open up access to the system settings and add a MUTE group feature in the app, I would give it 5stars..Version: 3.5.1

I can’t edit FX in the IPadPlease Harman, we need TAP delay In the App!!!.Version: 3.5.1

Works OK when it works!Works pretty good until about 15 minutes in, then the meters stop working. Fader controls and a few other things keep working. I thought it was me making a mistake with the setup but after reading the reviews I realized I’m not the only one who has this problem. Bug fix, Soundcraft please? This is serious setback for a board that otherwise works well for me. Hope it gets fixed so I don’t having to consider swapping it out for another brand..Version: 3.5.1

A Good start ........ but not quite mature yet. The iPad has great protential for digital live mixing consoles, but simply reproducing a cutdown version of pictures of the faders on the desk misses the value of integrating the tablet. It can and should be an extension/enhancement of the existing console, rather than simply a remote control. An example is the (rather excellent) interactive Parametric EQ curves -- one area the app gets right! Now the problems: The SOLO buttons/lights on the app do precisely nothing on my Expression 3. They don't press, and they don't light up to indicate they are active if the solo buttons are pressed on the console.. There is no mute group control via iPad (really? I would have thought this pretty easy to implement, and a fairly essential function) Suggestions: GEQ should NOT be split into 2 banks on the iPad. There is enough real-estate on the screen to have a single bank. Abandon the 'fader' graphics for some functions (eg GEQ) Monitoring functions (perhaps a spectrum analyser overlying the GEQ faders, aiding resoant freq and feedback detection) would be useful both away from the console, as well as adding to the usability with the iPad sitting on the console. The iPad screen should be configurable for a users needs (similar to the Fader layer setups) so that the most needed faders / busses can be accessed from a single screen. I can only hope that this App gets a serious workover to reach its potential. It is not quite the full deal, to match the excellent console..Version: 2.0.24

Freezes, mute groups, cue listThere are numerous problems I want to see improved on this app. The main problem is the freezing. When I'm mixing FOH and monitors the app often freezes for several seconds or has a delayed response. Sometimes the app will not unfreeze and I'll have restart the app. The app does not have mute groups like on the board. I work around it by using the VCA's to mute groups and as a bus. I wish I could use cues from the app. I suggested the Performer 3 for my church because of the iPad app control and because Souncraft is a reliable product but my bad experience with the app and board has changed my opinion of the company and products. I have the latest update and a new iPad Air2. I don't run any other apps on the iPad when mixing and I use a Apple Airport Express router only dedicated for the one iPad Air2. Please fix the App!!!.Version: 3.0.9

V3.5.1 Meters Freeze ConstantlyI love this app in general! UI and features are great! I have two complaints: 1) Even after buying a recommended and compatible router, the meters on the app freeze after about 10 minutes of use. 2) Now that the app supports 64 channels, I have to scroll ALL the way to the end of the channels to get to the FX faders. Currently our setup only uses 32 channels. It would be nice to be able to “deselect” unused channels so they don’t show up in the Inputs section..Version: 3.5.1

Unusable with Si Impact 2.0App locks up when used with the Si Impact. Only solution is to restart the board. Please fix the bug!.Version: 3.4.3

They don't careThe app freezes way too much! There is no way to access the fx units without going to the console itself. There is no tap delay in the app. I contacted them about the app and was told 2 years ago they were working on an update to address these issues and nothing has been done. It shows that they really don't care.Version: 3.5.1

Just badI work as a monitor engineer. I use this app with a Vi 1. I can manipulate faders and see it translate onto the console however adding gain, changing eq, dynamics, gates, hi or lo pass filters are not reflected. I have enabled hiQnet on my router following each step in the setup guide. I’ve updated the console and stage box, but still nothing has changed. This makes using the app virtually useless. Do yourself a favor and just mix the old fashioned way. Avoid the frustration..Version: 3.5.1

Meters frozenWhen the meters aren’t frozen, I really like this app. The SI Impact is my first digital console so I can’t compare to anything. Currently, all the meters are frozen. I have tried resetting WiFi, reinstalling app, reassigning new HiQnet address, and even replaced my iPad. Nothing seems to work. Meters still frozen. Useless..Version: 3.5.6

Does NOT Work, and Harman DOESN’T CAREThe app won’t connect, even though I can ping the sound board from the iPad. And forget about getting any support from Harman - they ignore their customers after the sale. When we had a board failure, I chased them for about four months just to get WARRANTY support. STAY AWAY FROM SOUNDCRAFT..Version: 3.5.6

APP STILL FREEZINGHarman where is the update?!? The app is still freezing without warning. App worked for about 10 minutes then froze during sound check and lasted throughout the two hour show yesterday..Version: 3.5.1

App constantly crashingPlease fix.Version: 3.5.1

Soundcraft owners deserve betterIf you read the older reviews much of the implementation has been stabilized, but fundamental problems remain. If no other issue gets fixed, where are the mute buttons? Seriously where are they? Ok, so I may be asking a bit to much to have the functionality of the console reflected on the remote, so throw me a bone Soundcraft, and at least display the mute (or just on/off lights) status of the channels??? This situation is so ridiculous that I cannot get it to sink into my memory that I have a master mute engaged when I walk out on stage to set monitors with the band and there is NO SOUND! Every other status or condition that the physical console is in IS reflected in the software, but there are no mute buttons or any display that the channels are OFF/MUTED!!!! Just for fun Soundcraft, download the Midas/behringer and the PreSonus remotes. It's free. You can learn for free..Version: 3.0.9

Almost there...The new version is much better than the old. Here are things that would make the app great. I use this app every Sunday mixing for church. - the fader layout should either match the board or be customizable within the app as well. It's a problem to have to swipe swipe swipe over to get to the stereo inputs. The app should have a custom layout just like the board - The greatest problem at least for me is that there is no security within the app. The board has all of its elaborate security functions and then app just bypasses those. I set the security on the board so that certain things aren't access by or accidentally changed by someone who doesn't know but then app bypasses all of that. Ideally, there we profiles for the app that would allow user to access only certain features. So a band member could use the app to mix his monitor but couldn't access anything else - visual representation of dynamics processing. A chart that could be touched and manipulated like the eq section - not sure if it's possible but metering would be nice too - an above and beyond feature would be to work some audio tools into the app like a spl meter and a spectrum graph These things would make the app five stars for sure.Version: 2.0.24

NoNice but does not work with iOS 11.3. The VU meters work and it showed the level but you cannot control anything..Version: 3.5.1

Wish I bought a BehringerI have tried to use this app with my Si Impact board multiple times. Every time it ends in frustration and regret. I have setup a stand-alone router, followed the instructions to the T, and nothing I can do makes it work. Please fix this ASAP. IF YOU ARE SHOPPING FOR A BOARD I WOULD AVOID AT ALL COST..Version: 3.5.1

L+RKind of alright platform but needs developing. Biggest thing for me is the L+R doesn't stay on the right and I find myself changing bus sends up and down instead of what I should be doing. Needs a good redesign. Mackie killed it with how basic and user friendly their platform is. Would be good to see soundcraft influenced by that!.Version: 1.1.8

Good app... Some way to goI like setting the iPad on the console to keep my VCA control open. To link to the console, though, I have to hit the 'add' button on the app, pick the console and key in the HiQnet number each time... that's aggravating. I wish you could save a profile! Also, the shelf for the iPad is portrait, but the app is landscape only, small thing, but still. Other that that, it adds functionality to a great board. And I recommend the app... The price is right..Version: 2.1.4

App is NOT professional at allHuge disappointment from Soundcraft. No mute group access, no cue list, very limiting, no offline mode(Demo Mode). Need this functionality to be considered professional app instead of me running back to the console to make scene changes or mute groups. Huge space for promoting Soundcraft By Harman instead of using this space for functionality (Cues, mutes, FX access, etc) We're already using the console, we know who you are. Behringer, Mackie, Allen Heath, Yamaha, Roland apps are all superior to Soundcraft apps. Was looking at Soundcraft console family but with an app like this I won't be buying one anytime soon. Deal Breaker..Version: 3.2.14

So many issuesI wish you guys cared about the products you made even if the product is a few years old..Version: 3.5.1

Functionality? Save show, profilesHey, I'm admittedly new to the digital audio realm. I've been mixing old school for years, and we just upgraded to the Si Performer 3. Cool board! Can you please update the app to allow us to save profiles and shows? Other apps for digital boards allow you to save a show....so all of your settings are already set. Log in, load your show, ready to go. Save your eq, gain, etc. labels, routing, monitor mix, house mix, etc. This would be hugely helpful, and seems to me like an obvious next step. Other major brands are already offering these options. It's a nice start, but we need more functionality for this to be really useful. Thanks! I'll update and improve my rating when functionality is added..Version: 3.0.9

UselessI just tried this on a Vi3000. I could access the mix settings but none of my inputs were controllable. Going to contributions tab then labelled the inputs correctly, but upon going back to inputs tab there was no functionality at all. After rebooting it all there was no difference although some of the mix names were correct but others were labelled as matrix 13 etc instead of "infill L" for instance. Weird! Very poor effort considering how well the A&H and Yamaha apps work. Please lift your game Harman.Version: 2.1.4

InconsistentApp needs to be updated to help access FX and many other features. Has been very inconsistent..Version: 3.5.6
