Cook's Country Magazine for Negative User Reviews

Want us to pay TWICE?I subscribe to the magazine and to the on-line version, and now to use the app they want me to pay for that too. This is a lousy way to treat loyal customers. Terrible app, lousy customer appreciation..Version: 1.5

Seriously?Everyone here correct: even with a separate web AND print subscription you have to PAY to get access to this iPad version. False advertising and shameless money grab by ATK. Seriously makes me consider cancelling all subscriptions to these guys..Version: 1.0

Why pay twice?????I agree with all those who refuse to pay to download issues when we pay for paper subscriptions. What is up with that????? I have subscribed to this magazine since the first issue, and resent the fact that I would have to pay again for a downloaded issue. Which I obviously will not do. If you pay for a subscription, you should have access to the web site and be able to download the issue to your iPad also..Version: 1.2

You are kiddingI pay for the magazine and an all-access membership and now they want me to pay to view it online. Are you kidding me? Hey Cooks: you just lost a customer for everything and I will NOT be spending another cent with you. Besides Chris Kimball started Milk Street and it gives me fresh recipes instead of Cooks just redoing the old stuff like Hollywood movie reboots. Free at last! Free at Last! Thank god almighty free at last!.Version: 1.5

Ios8 updateThis magazine was great until I downloaded iOS 8. I haven't had the time to call cooks country to try and fix it. Very disappointed!.Version: 1.3

A ripped off app!I paid for the subscription but I can't view the next issue! Don't waste your time and money! I want my money back! Disappointed big time!.Version: 1.1

A worthless iPad appRuns only in miniature portrait mode, saving is impossible. Since Chris left this site is headed for the outhouse..Version: 2.0

No Preview?Well I would probably have subscribed to this, however there is no preview of what it would look like on my Pad! None at all, very disappointed. We don't expect the mag for free but at least give us a sneak preview once we download to then decide! Deleted!.Version: 1.0

DissatisfactionI am reluctant to making any future purchases. Be careful!!!.Version: 2.0

Free should be freeAt least for a single issue, not that when you d/l it your faced with having to purchase it or a subscription just to judge if you like it and want to see if you actually like it..Version: 1.0

Great recipes, but...I keep hoping ATK will fix this app. Great recipes, but unusable as a cooking aid. When you find a recipe you like, you can't do anything with it. You can't save it, you can't print it... I finally started taking screenshots, but most recipes don't fit on one page, so you end up with a recipe over several pictures. I've had this a couple of years and like everything about it, except for this HUGE problem. I have an iPad full of screenshots and don't go use them because I don't know how to find what I want. Printing from the screenshots would involve a lot of cutting and pasting. ATK is great at everyone they do. Why has this taken so long to fix? I don't think I'll continue the subscription..Version: 1.4

Cook’s Country says they are not responsible for this app.The new update is worthless. Called to ask about changes in the online magazine. I was told they have Nothing to do with this App. I should call “whoever does” I was told on the phone they don’t know who to talk to. There are a step by step instructions on some recipes. Which I did find very helpful. Recently they changed the instructions on the step by step. It has become useless. It is odd that Cook’s Country won’t claim this as their magazine and can’t tell who to talk to..Version: 2.0

Where are my favorites????I loved this app until now, I can no longer save or access my favorite recipes. Older issues are in magazine form I can longer scroll to how to make step by step instructions and additional info is no longer available. Extremely Disappointed, will probably cancel my subscription..Version: 2.0

False advertisingPlease change the line from free to paid subscription required.Version: 1.0

Not FreeThey should ban all the apps that claim they are free but once you download them, you find out that you have to buy a subscription. They should not be allowed to say they are free...definitely false advertising..Version: 1.0

Beyond DisappointedYou have always been a leader in content, both on TV and in print, and I greatly respect your need to keep a tight lock on your revenue stream. Sad to say that you have less than no respect for the needs of your readers. If I understand the app correctly, the only way for me to reference a recipe when I am standing in aisle 6 at the supermarket trying to remember if it was 1 lb. of sweet potatoes or 3 lbs. of sweet potatoes is not to view the recipe on my iPhone Newsstand app (this magazine app is iPad-only), or to pull up an emailed copy of it on my iPhone (this magazine app is not capable of emailing your recipes), or to print it on paper (this magazine app is not capable of printing your recipes), but to have had the forethought to drag either drag my iPad to the store with me or write the list out long-hand?! This is 2012, the digital age, and I have provided you with a significant amount of money (relatively speaking) to use your content, get over yourself and respect my needs as a subscriber, wife, and full-time job holder. I don't have the time or patience to sit down at a desk like a monk and re-copy all of the most interesting recipes long-hand..Version: 1.0

They want you to pay twice?I already subscribe.Version: 1.5

No customer loyalty. Already get print version. Why pay twice???Will likely cancel all future renewals for all of their magazines. Don't like their marketing.Version: 1.2

IOS8 broke itAfter upgrading to iOS 8, all issues disappeared. Clicking download does nothing. Crashes the app. Hoping for a quick fix!.Version: 1.3

Abuse!I have a subscription with cooks illustrated, cooks country and buy books from them for many years! You are greedy and don't give a darn care about your base customer!.Version: 1.2

Lost Favorites and Restore not workingI relied on your Prime Rib with Vegetables recipe every year for Christmas and had it set as a favorite to access it quickly. Now, not only is the favorite lost and I had to spend 20 minutes looking for it, but when I try to open the issue you’re trying to charge me again to download it. Restore purchases says its successful but clearly it’s not given that this one isn’t restoring. Now it’s Christmas morning and I have to come up with another plan instead of spending time with my family. Cook’s has gone downhill ever since the last editor left..Version: 2.0

Terrible App!!!This app is terrible. You can not receive any new issues, even after purchasing a year subscription. The first issue was great and I loved it on my ipad, but then I never received a new issue after that. So in the long run just buy the printed magazine, because at least you know that will come in the mail and if you have issues you can call a real human being to talk to..Version: 1.1

AwfulPaid for a year membership through ATK. But can find NO RECIPES on this app. No search option???.Version: 1.5

Not freeI agree with previous reviewer. There is nothing free to review at all....therefore do not waste your time thinking you can review some of an issue to determine if it is worth while to subscribe to online. The answer is obvious to me..Version: 1.0

What the....?I subscribe to Cooks Country and Cooks Illustrated. In addition I have an all-access membership to ATK, etc. These subscriptions/membership cost plenty as it is. Now you want me to pay more for digital access to the magazine? Thanks, but no thanks..Version: 1.5

#1 ATK Fan Hugely Disappointed By This AppI subscribe to both Cook's Illustrated and Cook's Country, in print and online. That's four revenue streams from me to them. Not to mention the books I continue to buy. I have gone out of my way to meet Chris Kimball twice. I am also very Mac and iPad savvy. But this app, to which I have subscribed since May 24th of 2013, is a huge disappointment. Bottom line: good luck getting the new issue to download. I had to struggle to get my first two editions to download; this most recent seems impossible and I am giving up trying. I would cancel now were I allowed; as it is the soonest I can cancel is May 24th of 2014, which I have already done. Huge disappointment from an ATK aficionado..Version: 1.2

What's the problem?I am trying to access the October/November issue but I keep getting kicked out. Does this have anything to do with the release of IOS 8? If so, when will this app be updated? I have no problem with my other subscriptions. This is very frustrating..Version: 1.3

All Access does not work with this appI bought the all access subscription for CI, ATK and CC. I downloaded the apps and was able to log into ATK. No luck with CI and CC. Called support and they said their apps do not work with Safari. I canceled my subscription as all I have is IOS and MacOS devices. If it doesn’t work with the native browser then why bother creating the app? My advice, don’t waste your time if the technology decisions do not allow it work properly..Version: 2.0

Convertible option?I also am a web and print subscriber, and would appreciate the option to convert my print subscription to the digital version. Then it would be excellent! Otherwise I don't feel like it's worth it to get the digital version, I don't need two copies of the magazine..Version: 1.0

What good is this? All this does is let you subscribe to the magazine. This is useless for those of us who already have an online subscription and just want the ease of an app. No ease here!.Version: 1.4

Waste of money, I got nothing for $4.99This app either doesn't work very well or it is a complete ripoff. I downloaded the free app with the understanding that I had to pay to see content. I then paid $4.99 to purchase a single issue, Feb/March 2013. The information on my iPad changed from Buy to Download, indicating it was a successful transaction. I have "downloaded" the issue at least 10 times, but have gotten nothing. I can't access the magazine and all I get is a page that wants me to subscribe. I want my money back..Version: 1.1

Already subscribe. I have to pay AGAIN?I already subscribe to Cooks Country magazine. In order to access the same content on this app I have to pay even more?? No thanks..Version: 2.0

What a crock. This has been close to the worst use of memory space on my iPad. If I had known this app is just a lead designed to extract money I never would have given it any consideration. Avoid the app, searching the Internet can be a better use of your resources..Version: 1.0

New covid online issuesLove the magazine! Totally dislike the new format that they are blaming on “working from home”..Version: 2.0

Where are my saved recipes?!New redesign is nice, but I lost all my “favorited” recipes! Now I wish I had the hard copies with my little flags on the recipes I wanted to try eventually..Version: 2.0

Not a good app!!Down load the app and get NOTHING! It only allows you to purchase the online magazine. I can't see anything in the magazine to even help me decide if it is worth paying. I say, no good and will not take a chance on the product..Version: 1.1

Love the recipes but...I have always love the recipes from Cooks Country and was excited to get the app, however, It doesn't seem like you can share recipes and the icon for this app doesn't show up on my home screen!! Please fix!.Version: 1.4

Doesn't workPaid for a year subscription and can't access new issues without "restoring purchases" on my iPad. Several emails to Americas Test Kitchen's supposed customer service center have gone unanswered. I doubt I will renew when my subscription is up. The new issue should appear automatically without my having to go through the annoying process of restoring purchases each time..Version: 1.2

Issues not up to date & fees for online accessPlease post new issues in a timely manner and let us access the web site when we purchase a subscription and create subscriptions to multiple magazines you publish..Version: 1.0

Fix it!Fix your web sites, How often do you expect your customer to log in!? Once per session is enough! Fix it or lose me!.Version: 2.0

Horrible to their customers, lame appI have both the magazine print subscription as well as online. Now they want me to pay MORE to see the same info on an app? This is beyond insulting. I will no longer be subscribing and spending money on either. Ridiculous that I can't have everything linked - print, online, and app for paying subscribers. This is 2013, the digital age. Get with the program cooks country. Lame.Version: 1.1

DisappointedI’ve been a subscriber to the app for years now and am pretty disappointed in the newest update. Any of the back issues before this year are just PDF copies of the paper magazines. All of the step-by-steps are gone. I liked the app version for these extra features. The current year has this, but once the year is over, I’m sure those will be converted over as well. Seriously considering unsubscribing..Version: 2.0
