✓ Beautiful and short for the priceI want to give this game more, I really do, and I'm sure a lot of work was put into it, but it's like maybe an hour to 2 of playtime and then you're completely finished with it, no replay value at all. KEEP IN MIND that can be ok, not all games are meant for that, this game is super artistic and done really well. But my main issue with it is that it's FOUR DOLLARS, if I put that much into a game, even if it's not a repeditive arena game, I want to have MORE. ✓ Not convincedInteresting idea, neatly done. A handful of puzzles, some requiring either excellent memory, or physically writing clues down (which I'm not a big fan of). Some puzzles very simple, others require thought and skill. Odd storyline, and a rather flat ending, even with the clever use of the companion app. Quite morbid, though it stays true to its own style and the story. I was angry to find out that you basically had to break the rules of the game and do something you weren’t supposed to be able to do in order to progress. ✓ Can’t recommendThere’s a difference between being challenging yet engaging and rewarding and being completely obtuse and impenetrable. year walk’s puzzles are the latter. there’s also a difference between creating a creepy, haunting atmosphere and having jumpscares every time the player makes any progress. again, year walk is the latter. it would be cynical to say the obnoxious difficulty is to stretch the game’s length out to justify asking for 4 dollars, but unfortunately that seems to be pretty accurate. the companion is a nice idea but the lore it provides is pretty categorically not helpful. the art and sound design are nice. if you want good puzzles and/or creepy atmosphere i’d recommend something out of the cube escape series (many of which are FREE) or even this same company’s title DEVICE 6, which is superb. year walk, however, is just too unintuitive and poorly executed to recommend..DuavisVersion: 1.4

✓ Really don't know what the fuss is about.Ok, firstly this game does have some really beautiful scenes and a fairly unique story. BUT it seems to run solely on the theory that if they give the player as little instruction and direction as possible, the player will spend hours wandering aimlessly trying to figure out what's happening and thus detract from how little content is actually in the game by making it seem longer. Seriously, most of the game is boring with a few beautifully drawn scenes and you can complete the whole thing in 30 minutes tops once you know what you're doing. Oh and you have to download the companion app to get the full story of the game. It's really not worth the money at all. I think it was so cool to incorperate folklore into this game and I wish there were more games like this but there were a few issues. The game was really short and expensive. The game was also VERY confusing and difficult. I was very stuck on the part when you follow the Huldra into the tree and ended up deleting the game 3-4 times to get a fresh start and make sure I didn’t miss anything. I was also stuck on the part where you give the mylings to the kelpie (brook’s horse) and ended up spending about an hour trying to get the mylings, and 2 days trying to get out of the tree thing. ✓ Refund pleaseI LOVE puzzle games and this one was a huge disappointment. The navigation is confusing and you have no real sense of detection. You wonder around aimlessly in hopes to find anything that makes sense. I don’t like having to look up walkthroughs to get past areas or in this case see what the hell I'm even supposed to be doing. I found the creepy doll and the owls in the tree where you’re given no clue as to how you get back out of the darn tree. This is where I needed to look up where to go. There is nothing haunting about it at all. It is basically just wandering through the snowy landscape, which is always the same, occasionally encountering some puzzle. I spent 30mins trying to get it to do anything before finding a walk through, which instructed me on what I actually looking for to continue the 'game'. It too told me what extra controls were needed, and that I needed to have sound turned on (a feature I rarely use in mobile games - unless it is indicted). By that point, I'd already seen too much of the walk through to give a lot of the point of the game away and the experience was lost. And, like the description said, I did get the companion app, which told me little more than the backstory to the game that I could not work out on my own. I was also disappointed to see the length, as for the money I'd expect a much longer game with a lot more purpose. The navigation for a start was so confusing that I had to draw a map. Then I was stuck, and resorted to look at a walkthrough to get further (which I never had to do with Device 6). But when I saw the answers to the puzzles I never thought "Oh, why didn't I see that!", instead I thought "I'd never have thought of doing that in a million years" - not intuitive solutions at all.
