✓ I would give a 4.8 to be more accurate if I could.Cons: it's very easy to give into the temptation of looking for cheats when everything is confusing and you don't understand the background lore. This game is definitely hard when you first play it without any background knowledge. I recommend exploring your surroundings and the game thoroughly in your first go around without the sole intention of finishing the game. Pros:This game is beautiful and weaves an interesting narrative. My biggest regret is not trying to explore more and instead rushing towards the end when I initially played it. The depth of the story, the twists and turns, the eerie vibe of the forest, the puzzles, everything comes together to create an experience that will stick with you for a very long time. In fact, it will stick with ME for the rest of my life. I have a tattoo of the game’s logo (the minimalist goat head) on my inner forearm. It was my first ever tattoo and I haven’t regretted it once. My only nitpick is that the game is too short, thus when you’ve gotten the hang of the puzzles and chosen to “walk again,” “Year Walk” is easy to solve a second time and, thus, the gameplay is quicker. But these are probably the best $4 I’ve spent in the App Store. This game deserves a larger following and all the purchases it can. Its premise is original, the controls are smooth, the illustrations stunning, and the myths behind it are intriguing. But some of the solutions to the puzzles are to obscure and I found the puzzles really punishing. And some of you may like punishing puzzles! But I found the game to hard, and I couldn't find any way to put up any hints. Also the puzzle with the sounds in the temple are for THE MUSICALLY GIFTED! I don't play an instrument and I found that level hard to play through. But at the end of the day, this game is gorgeous, beautiful, and amazing. Just don't expect the game to go easy on you! This game is amazing visually and the story is deep (especially when you include the companion app). My heart was racing throughout the game in fright multiple times. The story is deeply compelling, the visual landscape is so evocative, immersive and beautifully haunting, utterly dreamlike, like an art installation experienced on an iPad. 'Experience' is a good word for it, as it's more an experience than a game, one that will stay with you for a long time, and one that I can't wait to revisit. No hand-holding here - if you want to be told what to do this isn't for you. The atmosphere reminded me a bit of Blair Witch Project, and also the vast snowy darkness of a Scandinavian forest at night. ✓ What a great little game!The journey you are taken on in Yearwalk, as short as it may be, needs to be experienced by anyone that wants to feel a sense of connection to a game. The beautiful, yet disturbing artwork, the interesting creatures you come across, even just the way it feels to wander around through the woods at night, are all so cleverly crafted that you will find it almost impossible to put down. I say almost, because the gameplay element is to take notice of clues and solve puzzles, (which can get a bit tricky at times) all the while delving deeper into the mysteries of the Yearwalk. I recommend playing with a pen and paper nearby to record anything you think you may need to remember. The music sets the mood stunningly and the animations are sure to give you a few shocks along the way. As stated earlier, the only criticism I have for a game of nearly $5 is the length. I would love to see a sequel or an update in the future. 9/10 I also want to add that I was fortunate enough to be able to play through Yearwalk on a rainy night, with a pitch black sky and my window open so that I could still here the rain even with my headphones turned up pretty high. If you find yourself expecting these conditions then I highly suggest you put off playing the game until then. It will be all the more worth it..Version: 1.0

Does have a slow build up but, you get sucked into the game with it's atmospheric art and sounds. Recommend playing this at night. The puzzles are interesting to solve and I liked how you had to jot some of the clue downs, so that you can solve the later puzzles. Only problem I found is, now and again some puzzles didn't present itself as clearly and I was left completely blanked out on what to do next. Overall a good game worth playing, just wished there was a bit more before reaching the end. The puzzles are challenging and although I found myself frustrated at times, they are doable. A huge part of the game is the effort that has been put into the story and backstory. Based in folklore, the attention to detail adds a huge amount. The release of the companion app, which Simogo had no financial incentive to do, shows their dedication to this aspect. My main complaint is that the game feels a little short. I would certainly like to see more of this sort of app and would pay money to do so. Again, here, a small bit of advice for the developers: don't underestimate your audience. It's exactly my kind of game, I love the style, the music and the reason behind it as I am very into folklore myself. ✓ WowwwwwwSo at first I thought this is a really strange game. So I stopped playing considering it was difficult for me to understand the game and left it untouched for months. When my internet stopped working properly I got the urge to play the game again and this time it took me all my effort to finally complete all the puzzles. The game is extremely confusing without any background knowledge so I advise everyone to download the companion app after completing the game. It really explains EVERYTHING you see in the game it's just amazing. I'm really interested in this year walk and I'm keen to any new developing games..Version: 1.1
✓ Elegiaic.Just the right combination of mysterious, engaging and disturbing - the game invites you a long-lost corner the Swedish countryside using simple but highly effective and evocative illustration. It's moody but also hopeful and contemplative. The companion guide is a necessity for completing the game - an integral part of it, in fact. I was left wanting more. This is such an amazing game, it's eerie creepiness is perfect and leaves you to think. The world changes around you and I don't think it's could have been done better. ✓ Unexpected endingWhat the title suggests. When I first played the game I thought the artwork and graphics were a very creative choice and it set the mood for the story. At first I didn't know how to move around and I lost myself sooner or later but I guess that's just me and my forgetfulness. The story line was different from most games I have played and fit the story well. After a while I realised that there are hints and clues all around me and I thought that was perfect and new. It gave me that feeling that most people get when they figure a solution to an annoying problem or something to that affect. There were twists and turns in the game and when it ended I didn't expect that there was another game you have to download and it just added to the experience. The ending was unexpected and made me think for a long time what he actually did in the end. I hope Simogo creates more games like this with the same experience..Version: 1.1
