✓ Best text adventure since Douglas AdamsI'm a big fan of text adventures and when it comes to iOS I'm no different. Lifeline was innovative; Device 6 transforms the genre into something new. It's very easy to imagine this virtual reality space going 3-D filled with puzzles in the not so distant future. Bravo to the writers for a gradually unfolding mystery. Bravo to the musicians involved for creating a very unique noir aesthetic. Like a fine wine I will be recommending this game as a milestone game in the genre..Version: 1.2

✓ Genius game!I loved this little masterpiece. It’s basically a narrative puzzle, where you read the text and figure out which buttons to push. Incredibly clever and quite difficult, but never to the point of being frustrating. I always managed to figure out what I was supposed to do without using online hints, which is the mark of a perfect game - neither too easy nor too hard. The story has many twists and turns. Slowly, the “big reveal” dawns on you in the fourth or fifth chapter. I asked out loud, “Are they actually going THERE?” Yes, yes they are. And it works. No complaints here. It was a great purchase. No replay value unless I get a concussion and lose my memories. Or unless I receive a creepy doll in the mail..Version: 1.2
✓ Breath taking, chill inspiring, doll giver.I have never written a review for an app before. This app is a piece of art. I won't say anything about the game, aside from the fact that when it finished I was in awe. I had chills. I didn't know what to make of it and didn't want to. When I purchase a game, I am weary as to if it will fit my demographic. Thus, to categorize this game into a demographic, I would base it off of three things: Sudoku: if you enjoy mind boggling puzzles with numbers, letters and more, this is good. Reading: if you enjoy beautiful prose (and architecture of that prose), this is good. Mystery (but not like a whodunnit): this felt like what a mystery should be; something that makes the reader have to alter their perspective to solve or understand. If you like that, this is good. ✓ Absolutely StunningThis game is a step above almost any game i can think of. The concept alone for this game deserves 5 stars, but add in the visuals, music, story, and play and it will probably be one of the best games you will ever play. Really the only downside to this game in any way, is that it isn't long enough. I would want more play from a $4.00. ✓ Totally New GenreDevice 6 is an innovative and thrilling game. It brings with it a totally new game concept which could have worked really well or failed miserably. Device 6 has executed this concept really well. The game is beautifully crafted, with a simple but mesmerising format. Interactivity also plays a huge part, and works perfectly. ✓ Imaginative brillianceDevice 6 is an interactive thriller which is presented in a unique and incredibly entertaining way. You literally follow the story around, using your finger to swipe in the direction of the narrative, drawing you in and making want to work out what's going on. It reminded me a lot of House of Leaves in the inventive way it formats text to increase immersion. The puzzles are very well delivered too, and whilst some are easier than others, many will require a deal of thought and pondering, although all the information required to solve them is contained within the chapter. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a good puzzle, an entertaining story and a decent challenge. You won't be disappointed..Version: 1.0

✓ Very interesting gameMore of an interactive novel than a game (I'd still call it a game, but other people are insistent about this, see Kentucky Route Zero, which I love), I don't think anyone's mentioned The Prisoner, but it reminded me of that. In some of the stuff I suppose it reminds me of House Of Leaves (except that was a book (within a book (within a book))), while this is a game playing with the structure of a book. Looking back (originally wrote this review around 2014, this paragraph is new), I definitely think this is the sort of game Danielewski would write (or would want to write), although given that he's now in the middle of a 27-volume novel cycle, I don't think he'd really be interested in doing that. On the other hand, apps (and a sci-fi extrapolation of current devices) are strongly featured, especially at the start of vol 2, so it's clearly a subject he's interested in. Maybe it doesn't have much replayability, but it's still worth looking at. I'd be interested to see if they're going to do something else like this..Version: 1.2

✓ I have no regrets except one.This game is still the all time favorite game of mine. It's an immersive experience in ways other games never even thought of. From your sight to your hearing, every sensation is a delight and further adds to the mysterious, bizarre and magical atmosphere of the game. I've been looking for another one like it and I regret to say I've yet to find its match :( Please make more like these!!!! I love reading and gaming and this is the perfect marriage of the two. ✓ Stylish, dark puzzle-thrillerIt is difficult to classify this intriguing and beautiful game, but if you enjoy point-and-click puzzlers in the vein if Monkey Island, you will love this. Text forms both the story and the landscape, and with occasional highly-stylized images and audio, guides you through a series of locked-door puzzles. The story-line and artwork are reminiscent of 1960s TV series The Prisoner. It's a macabre and dark story, not really suitable for children. Audio and screen rotation are required to play. The game is linear, and is quite short, at around 3 hours, but this in no way detracts from the experience. Highly recommended!.Version: 1.1

✓ Something completely different that's worth the moneyI don't usually write reviews for apps but I have made an exception as this is an exceptional app. The use of graphics, sounds and the constant turning and scrolling is inventive and exciting. The puzzles are tough but fair and the 'plot' although becomes quite obvious towards the end is one of mystery and suspense. The extra 'bonus' questions, although sound plausible to begin with add a 'big brother' feel to the whole scenario an one is reminded of '1984' in some parts. This is truly a new, exciting game which is worth the extra couple of quid. Only takes a few hours to complete but that's what makes this app stand out from the rest. There is a clear end. None of these 'endless levels' which creates boredom and frustration. You feel proud when you solve a puzzle and progress through the chapters. I'm definitely getting another Simogo app..Version: 1.1
✓ Breaking Restrictions On Telling StoriesThe word 'game' is a misnomer, I would call it a reading experience rather than a game. I would re-read (or play again) after some time passed, much like other books. Five stars for originality, for reader experience, for ambience, for riddles that are complex but not difficult when a little thought and perception is applied. Device6 has a really nice tone and consistent theme all the way to the end. I can see a future for books and stories like these. For those who bemoan the expense, it's not really that expensive considering the quality. Our money will hopefully fund the next project which I hope to see soon. ✓ SensationalI put off downloading this game for some time - too many words, too much 'artiness', not sure about the gameplay etc. however, I finally did download it and was absolutely blown away. The story is told through a continuing prose narrative but the way it is told, with moving the screen to replicate moving through buildings is genuinely innovative and brilliant. The story itself is never properly explained but has a vague big brother feeling that keeps you interested - and baffled - until the end. The music and graphics have a sixties feel that is very fitting and there is a sense of easy 'cool' about the game. There are also a series of puzzles to unravel - there aren't that many but they do get you thinking and working and the important thing is that the puzzles feel like part of the game - not there just to give you something to do. Oftentimes you have to go back to the start of the chapter to use information that you have picked up along the way. To play this game you need imagination, an enquiring mind and a determination to look at and try everything. I feel that developers have not managed to advertise this game enough for general gamers out there and this is because this is one of those games that you only come across once - genuinely innovative, fresh and exciting. ✓ A little masterpeiceThis game absorbed me from the moment I picked it up. I played it for two hours, then went to bed. Then about thirty minutes later realised that I would have to keep playing and got out of bed again to play it through. Beautiful gameplay, lovely puzzles. I kept thinking about what it reminded me of. Think of a cross between Myst's geographic puzzles, Borges's surrrealism, especially in the garden, and the paranoia of the early episodes of Lost, when it was still good. Solving the puzzles is a delight, the solutions to the puzzles are ingenious and enchanting. Navigation brings new meaning to the word 'hypertext'. It is typsetting as navigation as art. Captivating stuff. I am now looking at Simogo's back catalogue, figuring I must have missed them somehow..Version: 1.0

✓ More a story than gameYou will either love or hate this. I loved it. Pay attention to everything - all the puzzles are simple if you pay attention, although there are some distractors as well. It isn't really a game - it is far too linear - but the puzzles do make you think, and make you pay attention to the rest of the details. You won't play it more than twice, even if you love it, I think. So a bit pricier than many other apps for the time you will spend on it (a couple of evenings) - but the target market is smaller, perhaps. ✓ Simply BrilliantFirst of all I am trying to describe an app that is beyond words. This is an outstanding game/book/what-the-heck-am-I-supposed-to-do? but that is the magical part of it all. Anyway, from the begining you don't know what is going on, then the pieces start to fit together and you’re like, "Yes, I get it!!" ✓ Groundbreaking and immersiveI've been an Interactive Fiction fan for many years, and although this isn't traditional IF, it is a solid, mutant evolution into another generation of the genre. Minimalist yet detailed, this is the first IOS game I've found that transcends the screen. Rather than drawing a player "into" the game, this actually feels as if it reaches out and envelops the player in a creepy, nihilistic future-punk environment centered by the device in your hand. Don't fixate on the little details too much; they tend to be red herrings. It will take some out of the box thinking, and be sure to keep the sound up so you can hear important clues. There are six chapters, but the last two are particularly short. Disappointingly short, as I absolutely loved this game and hoped to continue the experience longer. Well worth the .99 that I paid for it, and was impressed enough with their work that I went ahead and purchased Year Walk and Sailor's Dream, as well. I'll be looking for more of their games, and really hope there's a "Device 7" or continuation of this excellent production..Version: 1.2

Device 6 is a single player adventure game. I categorise it as adventure because like; "Tales of Monkey Island" or "The Walking Dead" it's mechanics revolve around puzzles and exploration. The story is a mystery thriller calm down, it's not another game where the protagonist suffers from amnesia, even if you play in a location you've apparently never seen or heard of before. One caution, the game has multiply lending based on what you do in the last chapter. I really though about what I was doing and got a great ending. My family member, however, didn't. I still enjoyed it this time as much as the first play through. Note that this is more of an interactive novel with a handful of puzzles rather than a game. As another reviewer said, it's absolutely perfect as a puzzler because it's just challenging enough for me to have to really think over the hints and clues given throughout the text and in the pictures and yes, even the audio, but not so difficult that I ever had to look up a walk through on the internet (you will NOT be able to progress without the audio, so don't purchase this game if you cannot listen to the audio for whatever reason.) The story is superb, and keeps the game from being JUST a puzzler. ✓ GeniusThis is the first ever game review I have written, and I was compelled to do so based on the fact this game is intelligently crafted and truly unique. The styling of the text and images, combined with the expertly assembled audio, somehow make what is essentially simple gameplay feel tense and exciting. The puzzles are relatively tricky, and whilst you do have to scroll back through the text to solve them I actually found this rewarding, and after the first few chapters I found myself fully immersed so as to not miss a vital clue as I went through the story. I was amazed this only averaged 4 stars, but looking at the 1 star ratings they are predominantly from users incapable of understanding the complexities of this game, so they should rate their education 1 star instead. ✓ Finally finished this game!This is the best game on the iPhone to sit down with and lose yourself. You really need to have a pen and some paper handy if you don't want to break down in tears every time you reach a puzzle. The story is haunting and is oddly reminiscent of George Orwell's 1984, pretty spooky, it's a daytime game. I'd recommend this game to most people looking for a proper story driven puzzle game, it is pretty tough though. If it hadn't been for the multiple breaks a took during the completion of this game I would've thought it to be pretty short. This is also the most satisfying game to complete a puzzle on I've ever played. Buy it..Version: 1.1

✓ Interesting story with a couple of puzzlesI wouldn't class this as a game, but an interactive book. Definitely enjoyable & I believe it was worth the money. There are not many puzzles, but some do challenge your thinking. Just wishing that I could play again & chose another path, therefore having an alternative ending. ✓ WowThis game is pretty spectacular. I've played some high end games and this one is up there with them. I consider it an equal to A Dark Room and the Lifeline series. This app is definitely worth it's price. I would have expected it to cost more, really. Just a few weeks ago, I played a story app that was the same price and it was no where near as good as this one. There's a reason it's in the AppStore essentials. Buy it! Also, to you developers, you guys are really cool. I like how you make this game feel like it's connected to real life. I really think it's cool how Jonathan Eng wrote an entire song for the game. It's really catchy. The only problem I have is the swearing. I know it's not real swearing, but I'd be a lot more willing to recommend the app to my little cousins if you removed those words..Version: 1.2

✓ Still the best iPhone game I've ever playedIt's been quite a while since I finished Device 6, and I've tried every game reddit's claimed is similar, but nothing's come close to this...except maybe the dev's other games; Year Walk is also amazing (I drew maps! I downloaded software to better render my maps!), and Sailor's Dream makes the phrase 'hauntingly beautiful' ashamed that it's ever been used to describe anything else (and the soundtrack is 60% of my 'Creepy sleepy music for bedtime' playlist). Still, really, _this_ game is...you know that feeling when you're like suffocating because everything is always mundane and profane, and all you want is something strange and glorious and terrible like Rilke and not like updating spreadsheets or acid reflux?
