A couple of weeks ago it said I needed to update the app, after I updated it blocked access stating that I needed to repurchase the app. I have tried emailing the support team with the link provided in the app it comes back as mail delivery failure. Buyer beware!I bought a full version of Oxford Deluxe (ODE + OTE) which is another app from this company just over a year ago on Nov 28, 2021. There was an update a month ago, then a few days ago the app stopped working with a message saying “total failure” and opening it redirected me to this app. At the same time, the old app listed an update citing “security fixes”. I waited a few days for new reviews but decided to update anyway as my app was unusable. The update was 98kb and the result was the same. So I downloaded this app, and tried to “restore purchases”. “License not found!” So basically this developer made my $37.99 app unusable, and wants to charge me another $38.99 for the same app. How is this not theft? What’s to say if I did buy this app the developer won’t decide to do this again and make it unusable to charge me yearly or monthly based on previous behaviour? I will NOT be buying this app, and I will not be buying from this company again, and I will be writing to Apple about this. How is this allowed?——————————————— Feb 28 2023 update: I was able to update my original Oxford Deluxe (ODE + OTE) app, which is not this app Oxford Deluxe (InApp), as reviewer conqtc suggested, by updating it from the past purchases section. However, I am not changing my rating as the trust is lost. I have not encountered a licensing problem with other apps. The old app at one point was deleted from the app store (“no longer live”) though at the time of writing it seems to be back. When I tried to “restore purchase” on the new app Oxford Deluxe (InApp), it didn’t work. The reason given by the developer doesn’t ring true. If it was Apple’s fault, why did the app fail? Paid for apps don’t generally need to verify their licenses to work. I suspect there was an attempt to force users of the old app to repurchase the new, otherwise why did the app fail after an update and users redirected to almost the same app apart from it requiring an in-app purchase? And why was the old app deleted from the app store shortly after (even if it’s now back)? If there was an issue with the licensing system, why couldn’t I restore my purchase on this (new) app? The old app didn’t fail straight after an update, it failed some time after. Is my old app (now apparently restored) going to go into “total failure” again some time into the future? (Forebodingly, I got a notification right after I updated both apps that I need to download a new version! Again, when both are up to date!)——————————————— Maybe the developer restored the function of the old app to avoid being banned from the app store, as whatever happened, if it wasn’t the result of Apple’s licensing system, seems to have contradicted this guideline, or at least the spirit of it.———————————————App Store Review Guideline 3.1.2(a): If you are changing your existing app to a subscription-based business model, you should not take away the primary functionality existing users have already paid for. Update Violates My Original PurchaseThis is a very good app. Probably the app I’ve used the most since I move to a smart phone years ago. I PURCHASED the app for over $60. I made, what was at the time, a one time lifetime PURCHASE. But as of yesterday (01/23/) the app no longer works. Now when I open it an X and the words “Total Failure” appears on the screen momentarily before it redirects to the App Store. There I see the same app with the “Open” radio button you normally see there with apps you have previously purchased (v. “Get” or “Free”, etc. for apps you haven’t). Thinking “Well, the app on my phone must have somehow become corrupted, I hit the “Open” button assuming it would reload the app and it would work again. But now when every time I’ve attempted to use it, I get the message, “In app purchases are required to use this app.” Imagine buying a very useful product (not leasing or renting it), say your TV that you paid top dollar for. You use it all the time, until one day the manufacturer sends someone who enters your home without your permission or knowledge. He breaks your TV so you can’t use it anymore and leaves a sign on it that says, “If you want to continue using this TV, you’re going to have to start paying us to use it.” Would you ever do business with that company again? Don’t get me wrong, If this company decided to go that route for any NEW customer purchases of the app, they have that right. But to disable an app that a customer PURCHASED for $60+ as a one time buy is something like a breach of contract, a violation of consumer rights. But maybe - just maybe they will see this review and do the right thing by restoring my prepaid lifetime usage..Version: 13.3.2

Pay again £40 really?App restore do not work. Simple inactive. I bought it about 3 years ago. On iCloud backup this app not backed. From AppStore despair over Year ago and now is again. If you update your iPhone then expect pay again almost £40. When was working no complaints at all. I love the app when it works, but how long until it works is anybody’s guess. I’ll update again when 13.4 becomes available, which I hope is really freakin soon. Unidict blockedThis is absurd! I paid for the Oxford Dictionary and Thesaurus and have used it happily. Yesterday, without warning when I tried to use it I was shunted back to the App Store to buy it again. The name Unidict, which I had never seen before, is now attached. I imagine they have bought the company and feel that abusing the established Oxford customers is acceptable. Even if I have to pay again for a less fulsome dictionary/thesaurus from another company, I will gladly do it. Unidick needs to hire some consultants on customer relations or engage in deep therapy. I hope that anyone who has experienced this treatment will find another product that is produced by an ethical company.
