✓ Way too randomizedThe game is good and very interesting, but even when you played it like 30 times or so, learned most of the mechanics and act the best possible way, the game still randomly kills you - like, sends you to a star formation where you can’t jump out from because your engines are not good enough (and you’re stuck and have to restart) or you just don’t meet a particular planet type on the way for a few steps and run of one of the resource (means, you die). It’s like punishing you randomly while you didn’t do anything wrong and you have to restart again and again. It’s not right..Version: 3.2
✓ (BUG) This is a great gameI love this game however, there seems to be a bug where if you land on some rocky planets you attempt to drill and it won’t let you. There’s seems to be an invisible confirm box slightly above the drill text box, once you hit it the character says “I have the impression this alien wants to enter my ship” but then the resource screen shows minerals as if you used your drill with no alien there. This sometimes results in a broken drill..Version: 3.2
✓ Bought it on saleI'm totally happy with this purchase. There is some skill to the game, but luck plays a big part too. If you're looking to get through the entire story right away, this is not the game for you. If you don't mind casually restarting a hundred slightly different scenarios to see how far you can get, then this is the game for you. ✓ FTL with no fighting and better writingExcellent, atmospheric game focusing on resource management and decision-making. Story is simple but engrossing, and presented in a pretty unique way for a game. Lots of random events with outcomes that feel less arbitrary than FTL. Note that roguelike elements mean a small mistake or simple bad luck frequently causes you to lose and need to start from the beginning. This adds a ton of tension to the game and makes you consider your options very carefully when in danger of running out of O2 or fuel, etc..Version: 1.01

✓ Atmospheric hauntingly lonelyLost in deep space alone...visiting star systems to gather enough resources for the next leap, always on the verge of running out. Random events and encounters help or hinder you. The story unfolds in weird ways and how my character explains it is unique....sad. I view it as part of my character...slowly going insane Out There all alone. Beautifully done. If you like this check out Year Walk. It's another game that stands above the rest. ✓ Great fun, questionable spellingThis is an awesome game, very fun. Not FTL, but if you like FTL, you'll probably like this. It's not without it's flaws, though. The spelling is awful. Developers: when you release a game, please make sure that you've finished it first. This includes spell checking the text. Especially important when the game is text heavy. ✓ Neat concept & pleasant writing contentI enjoyed the game because of the management, challenging decisions, and breadth of content. I gave 4/5 only because this game needs several UI updates - drilling/siphoning is repetitive and I think there is room to improve the risk and reward system (you can skim a gas planet x1 fuel at a time with no risk but takes a while) - if I drill/siphon beyond ship capacity would be nice to be able to use existing materials so I don’t have to juggle Managed a win scenario after 4-5 tries...not sure if developers scaled the difficulty down recently, but I saw a lot of reviews claiming this was “impossible to win” when it is in fact only moderately challenging at best..Version: 2.5

✓ Great game!When I looked at the game originally, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, but figured at 79p, how wrong can you go? This was definitely 79p well spent! The game, while simple, is incredibly immersive and although it is frustrating to find yourself back at the start of the game so often, you are drawn back in through the little stories and events that crop up as you travel through the cosmos. I've had a few crashes on my iPad mini, but the game saves where you were and loads back in the same spot. Perfect game for this platform..Version: 2.1

✓ Updated review! Used to work and still doesUpdated review: Forget what I wrote down there, a week or so later the devs released a new, updated version that works on the newest phones. Out There is back baby. Great little game, while it doesn’t offer a rich gameplay experience and can be fairly repetitive the game oozes with charm, is well written (in my opinion) and is totally unique. It can get frustrating but something compels me to go for one more run. I played this a lot a few years back and I don’t think I actually got to the end. I got real close once though and it felt like a real adventure. Luck is a factor which is a draw back but you’ve still got to consider your options carefully. Play it safe or take risks. No pay to play, pay wall, or any of that nonsense either. Overall I’d definitely recommend this product. Now it’s back I’m definitely gonna get to the end this time. Original review: Was a great game back in the day. Re-downloaded to have another go while waiting for Out There: Oceans of Time. The lag is unreal, constantly glitching. The game is unplayable. I’m using an iPhone XR with iOS 13.3, according to the store this should work on my phone. The game is old so fair enough is the devs don’t want to update it but if that’s the case it should be removed from the App Store. I don’t think it’s an issue with my phone as everything else seems to work fine. I was considering buying other games that are a bit old but to be honest I no longer think I’ll bother as now I’m worried they won’t be compatible either. If you have a new and up to date device. ✓ Great but very difficult depending on what you're expectingAn excellent sense of adventure through the use of great text descriptions, random encounters, and choices that never have you play the same game twice. Resouce managment is key along with a lot of luck! I feel in a sense this luck factor gives the game that feeling of danger of space travel. But also as game mechanics go, it can be quite fustrating as well cause ive been playing this game for over 3 months and still have never made it to the end! I have continuously run into bad luck with random encounters that drain my resouces, star systems that lack the planet resource i need, or just even on my best attempt, a star goes supernova and destroys my shop. For the game creators i suggest you might want to put in a difficulty setting? Its discouraging at times but i really enjoy the hame. ✓ Brilliant game!This is an absolutely brilliant little game! At times frustrating, always challenging, just keeping your little spaceship fuelled and in one piece is at times a result, but for a simple slightly 'retro' game it has a surprising amount of depth and fun story. When my sub-space reactor blew up one system from the ending leaving me out of range I nearly threw the iPad against the wall, especially when despite scrapping two spaceships for parts I couldn't rebuild it and ran out of air. But have finished two endings now so it can be done! Though was on a knife-edge til the end. Great game! ....And just to add finished all three endings in version 1 so thrilled to get version 2 where the much improved graphics make it even better. Still fiendishly difficult and the only reason that I don't play it more is that it takes real concentration and requires a few hours to play. Great, great game! ✓ CoolI struggled a lot with this game initially it felt impossible and unfair. However it finally clicked with me and I started doing a bit better. One thing that helped me was realizing that you can choose a new starting ship that you’ve unlocked by selecting new game instead of quick start. Anyway, I really like it now. The visuals, the music, the excellent writing, and even the challenge/RNG making you sweat. I would recommend it. Gotta love when you’re late game and all your 20 stack of Omega gets jettisoned and then an alien destroys your sun probe and your extra inventory slots are destroyed, along with the items in those slots being lost in space. ✓ A really good exploration gameThis is a good and tough game about space exploration and resource management. The narration is incredibly creative and I really enjoyed it. Atmosphere is intense and there are many moments of suspense: will I survive? Gameplay is exploring solar systems across a section of unknown the universe and manage oxygen, fuel, ship health, storage space and raw materials. It forces you to make tough decisions and gamble on survival. New ships and more technologies make survival easier and it is more likely that you discover the mysteries of why you are lost in space and what happened to earth. Hardly anything wrong with it, but in order to excel you would need to do some ‘homework’ and create a dictionary for the alien languages to maximise technologies you discover. That was my only issue, that one normally doesn’t discover enough technologies..Version: 1.04

✓ MegaThis my friend, is one hell of a game. I hope you're strategic in mind, because you're going to need that thinking cap of yours to maintain a ship's fuel, oxygen supply and iron. You play the game as a lone human being who has awoken from a cryogenic sleep to find themselves 'Out There', in deep space, alone, in a ship with little resources. From there you must travel and replenish resources from various planets in a plethora of solar systems. Decisions occur throughout the game based on encounters with the random (this is the unknown, after all), whilst obstacles (that I won't reveal) certainly do manifest themselves at times you could do without. Therefore, as I say, you'll need your thinking cap to beat this game. I am yet to do so, it's difficult but it's worth enduring for. The update is fantastic. Max kudos to the developers. ✓ Fun Strategy Managing RiskIt’s easy to write this game off as being too dependent on random chance. But that's completely overlooking that the game gives you many tools to manage the risk of bad things happening, and upside of random good things, which is where the deep strategy and fun comes in. The tricks take patience to learn/discover, but it’s rewarding when you do, and you’ll consistently be pushing deep into the game if not beating it each time. Aside from the gameplay, I liked the illustrated style, and the atmospheric music was nice as ambiance, though not too memorable. There are a few neat ideas here too like learning the language as you progress. The game works well in the mobile format - you can stop and start playing quickly, though it has that “One more jump...” addictive property, so maybe it will still be hard! My only criticism is that a decent amount of time spent in the early/mid game (basically until you get a better ship) is centered on doing the same things - drilling/probing. I wish there was a little more variety to break that up. But ultimately I think the deep strategy and accessibility as a mobile game make this a game worth playing if you appreciate that..Version: 2.5

✓ Finally no more lag!The game is fantastic and worth the buy! Enjoyed playing this game long ago before the omega update and was pleased with the updates they have made. One problem I did have was it lagged once I upgraded to a new iPhone and was sadden but just had to wait a little for the great dev’s to Deliver optimizations :D! Now there are two bugs that I have gone through with the recent update starting with, when I want to drill a random planet it won’t register then I press it a few more times and it acts like I went through dialogue and skips it like a missed event(love reading all the little events). Another was when I closed the game and came back later to resume and my ship had all bars at zero and screen prompt saying cancel and pressing it didn’t do anything and ship was supposedly back at square one but could still see all planets I passed through. ✓ At first you fail, but keep trying!This game is a real test for your mind, your morality and your promise. After awaking from a cryo sleep you find yourself drifting in space with a hinted location of your final destination. It is up to you to mine, probe and refill your key resources as you travel from system to system. Each time you jump a different scenario pops up. Will you risk resources (that you'll probably be lacking) to save someone/something, will you be rewarded or ransacked? The choice is yours in a morale stake. After 4 hours of gameplay and several restarts I still find myself making it halfway across the interstellar map. This game is hard, but rewarding. The visuals themselves are stunning along with the music ambiance, you feel so alone with so much space around you. I highly recommend this game! 4/5 as I still think it needs more! :-).Version: 2.1

Whenever I actually managed to finish a run, I would almost rather keep playing the same one instead of having to start anew, but that’s a personal problem I have. RNG certainly is a big factor in this game but that is also where the strategy comes in. You have to plan and account for inevitable bad luck. You also have to plan for good luck. I feel that if you prepare enough, then you can get out of nearly every situation in this game, by installing specific technologies or by storing extra resources. ✓ Not quite FTL but a decent imitatorPersonally I've been hooked on this game for around 9 hours or so which for me more than warrants the price tag. If you are familiar with FTL, the best way to describe this game would be to take the games explorative elements and put them as the prime focus over the combat. The game develops a good sensation of truly being 'lost' in space as everything is alien and the only understandable dialogue comes from the protagonist who's trying to return home. Obviously it won't be for everyone, but I resented in FTL the fact I was time pressured and thus couldn't fully explore the galaxy's you passed through. You were made to feel as if for your survival you had to pass thoroughly as quickly as possible, whereas in Out There fully exploring a and utilising what each area has to offer is crucial to progression. Few faults such as dead ends which can be frustrating as well as some clear translation errors for the English version, but for a fresh game it's really impressive and should keep people occupied until FTL is released at the very least..Version: 1.01

It is true that it's a hard game to play but I think that it because you're not supposed to finish it with the first or second try.
