A cut down FTLDifficulty is too high, and there is no skill involved as you can't tell anything about the systems you are jumping to. No history means there is little motivation to continue playing long term, be nice if say the language you learned was kept between missions. Fuel demands are so high you can't waste it landing, a lot of the time, so have to skip planets, even if a system has gas giants you can't be sure you will get enough full, and since they damage your ship to visit them and getting Fe waste so much fuel you can rarely visit more than a dozen systems before you either blow up try to fuel or run out of fuel. How far you get doesn't seem to matter compared to how many jumps you do. Plus you can't judge how far you got because you can't zoom out the map. Needs work, to make longer play more appealing, still probably worth the price..Version: 1.0

Needs a version tweakThere is a good game here. Great style and writing, with smart touches. But really let down by a few things. The intro animation that plays EVERY time you start again ( you will do this often) then there is the total overuse of gamecentre awards! It's relentless. Lastly the game is simply too unfair in its randomness. I hope an update can cure these issues as there really is a great game here..Version: 1.01

Tough, and not always fairThis game has a definite one-more-go addictive 'quality', as you climb its learning curve and learn it's hidden rules. Each time you (usually) get a bit further, teasing just a bit more out of its moody, thoughtful prose. And it would have kept me going, but for a careful 2-hour voyage abruptly ended by an unfortunate random calamity - having my drive schematics erased, and the drive blowing up immediately after. The first truly unfair death (even my experience of getting stuck out of range of any new systems could be put down to a lack of preparedness) and one that adds a note more sour than poignant to an otherwise pleasantly atmospheric - if bleak - game..Version: 1.01

Too much RNGClearly some folks like this kind of thing, but in a typical game you only get to travel to a few stars. You either just didn't find enough fuel, oxygen, or took hull damage due to some random event. I just don't enjoy playing the beginning over and over. Who knew?.Version: 3.2

Space game where challenge > funThis tough game mixes space exploration with inventory management, but often the challenge overrides the enjoyment in playing. You'll visit a number of planets, encountering alien life and picking up supplies. However, much is down to chance and one wrong move can literally be game over. I did enjoy playing the game but it's certainly not one for the impatient, and not one I envisage being a regular for me to play..Version: 2.5

There needs to be more OxygenThere needs to be more Oxygen available at the start and throughout the game.Version: 3.2

Pretty fun at first...But gets frustrating as you get further in, I feel like there's no difference between easy and normal mode. Fuel is way too hard to maintain, you can't mine and search for fuel to get far enough in the game..Version: 2.2.2

Too short robe a great strategy gameThe game is too easy to finish to be a great strategy game. It frustratingly finishes too early, just when you're on a roll and have finally worked out a good survival strategy, which took me a week of casual playing. Turns out that's all there is to it despite the teases of something bigger, and I was left really underwhelmed. Nice idea but needs serious expansion..Version: 1.01

A love lost...I've had this game since last year, and have played many, many hours. The March 23rd update included a bug, which makes a main feature of the game unusable after all technologies are learned. I have also FB'd the creators. No response. Don't waste your time until an update is brought about..Version: 2.3

Game could be great, never got far thoughThis game tries to be a tough survival game and interactive story at once without mastering either. The survival isn’t particularly interesting because luck is just too much of a factor with little knowledge or player choices to mitigate it, and the second is simply hidden behind the stupidly difficult survival part. I can just guess what content lies beyond the early game because I simply can’t reach further due to frustrating loss events, poor fuel probing or missing critical blueprints..Version: 2.5

This game is interesting, it just isn’t funThis is a fascinating concept, beautifully executed, with great controls and a wonderful story. It’s a real shame that it just isn’t fun to play. Failure is built in to this type of game so failing a lot isn’t the problem. It is the fact that playing it just isn’t fun. You play, you die, new game world generated, repeat until you get lucky enough to unlock better ships. But that’s the problem. It is such a chore to do anything with the starting ship that it just feels like a painful grind getting anything else unlocked. What I’m saying is that at some point I realized I had been playing for an hour and was miserable. I wasn’t having any fun. At which point I wondered why in the hell I was even playing this. Just move on. It isn’t worth it..Version: 3.1

Almost unplayable on XSI bought this game after reading so many great reviews. It seems fun... but I can’t play it on my XS or XR. It’s so laggy, unoptimized. Such a shame because I paid for it, but mostly because I was looking forward to add this game to my mobile rotation..Version: 2.5

Really want to like this gameThis game has its moments but it’s just a little to cruel with the RNG. I’ve downloaded and deleted over 20 times. Each time I’ll play about 10 games or so and then delete in disgust. I play games to be entertained or challenged or for social activity. This game has proven time and again to be an exercise in frustration and futility. It’s gotten to the point we’re it’s all stick and no carrot and I regret having wasted my money and time on it. I would not recommend anyone spending their money or time on this game..Version: 2.5

Quite disapointing!I was expecting a strategy game, but the chance factor is quite important. Also, the mecanics are simple and don’t offer much deepnest..Version: 3.2

A mean gameHighly addictive and promising at first, but you soon realise that this isn't a hard game so much as a vindictive one. After numerous failures, you can finally be doing everything right, unlocking numerous techs and a palatial starship to take the pressure off, and then within 5 minutes it's all gone again, just through 'bad luck'. And that's on 'easy' mode. There is no strategy that can save you. So you'll give up. I give you three days tops. The core ideas here are good (and it sounds like you'll see some of them expanded on in the upcoming No Man's Sky) but this game has been hobbled by a developer who thinks kicking you is fun..Version: 2.3

Ground control to Mi-Clos StudioThe latest update introduced a bug that has ruined the game for me. I'm at a point where I'm the farthest I've ever gotten and I can keep going except that if I try to build any technologies all I get is the 'Technology' header and no list. The list is gone and I can't build anything! That's game over. Incredibly frustrating having invested so much time into the game.I visited the developer's site and emailed Michael Peiffert on April 2. It's now April 29. No response. Think twice about downloading..Version: 2.3

Has potentialThis game needs a re-balance...you have very limited space to carry equipment and resources and you always end up running out of one of the three resources you need in no time. Very irritating and sadistic gameplay, the game engine seems to always "randomly" rob you of exactly what it is you need at the time...if you actually had half a chance to explore anything it might be fun but very simple and limited gameplay even at its best.Version: 1.01

No sound and no saveNo sound on iPhone SE2-iOS 13. And the game destroys all save info on reboot!.Version: 3.1

Fun but RNG kills it half the timeSo far I have over 100+ plays on easy and I still haven’t come anywhere close to getting any ending, every run will start out great until some random encounter breaks all my equipment and then I run out of fuel due to somehow 10 solar systems in a row not having a single fuel source, or any other seemingly unlikely resource shortage. It’s a great and simple game, but that simplicity also means that most of the time you just literally aren’t going to win, period. I want to like it but in retrospect it’s all pretty dull, all the ships are mostly the same (the stats are “different” but as far as I can tell it only makes a difference of 10 resource use max) , no ship ever has enough space to build the upgrades that make any late game survivable, and literally on the easiest mode it’s just impossible to win even after 100+ tries. Fix the RNG and it could be good, hell even just make it so that there’s a higher chance for good RNG instead of a 90% chance to basically die instantly and a 10% chance to find 10 fuel floating around, just something that doesn’t make it feel like you’re just getting kicked in the teeth with every warp..Version: 3.1

No iPhone X supportThe screen is way to small on iPhone X.Version: 2.5

Exercise in frustrationNo thinking, skill or tactics required; just a random generator. Captivating soundtrack..Version: 2.1

Overly simplistic, not worth your timeOverly simplistic, definitely not worth the 15 dollar price tag. Okay this game is just meh. It is similar to FTL, but with combat completely stripped out alongside any actual gameplay. This leaves you with a resource management system that is bland - and which is the sole focus of the game. Basically the gameplay just involves sliding around materials. That’s it. How much you get when collecting materials is completely RNG based, heck the game is so simplistic the entire thing is unforgivingly RNG based. A good run can just end because of RNG. Practically: there is not strategy to how you use resources, the only thing that matters is RNG. On certain planets you can interact with aliens, which just comes down to ‘maybe you’ll get X material if your lucky’; it’s practically meaningless. The game has multiple endings but which are simply ‘go to here on the map’. They are badly written and unsatisfying. The same goes for the story of the game, lazy and unsatisfying. For a roguelike, the game lacks any replayability beyond the first couple of runs; there is very little to explore in-universe..Version: 3.2

Well made + FrustratingA beautifully made game that's immersive and impossibly difficult. Great graphics, writing and music won’t save this game from itself. Other reviewers have detailed the problem: gameplay is way too RNG!!.Version: 3.2

Good game, except...Out There is great, a real step forward for phone games. The writing is top notch and reminds me of the classic RPG-strategy hybrids that I loved when I was a kid. Your decisions have weight and you really have to be careful every step of the way. Yet I can't help but feel even casual difficulty is unnecessarily difficult - just tried the hardest level, and it's just a nightmare that goes beyond the threshold of playing for fun. Combined with the monotony of just mining planet after planet, dodging death constantly... it becomes a drag that loses its sense of enjoyment. I'm a big fan of Dark Souls and the feelings of stress and then reward, but as an adult with a job and a life it's hard to find time to sit down on my phone and do something that does nothing but stress me out for 75% of the time. I find myself wanting to share this game with my little brother, who really loved FTL too - but it's just too inaccessible and too frustrating for anyone who isn't a seasoned strategy lover. My main suggestion is that it would be nice if I could share this game with people who maybe aren't as good with strategy, because the story, writing and feel are genuinely, really fresh..Version: 2.5

Just too hard to be any funI like a challenge, I live FTL but this game just beats you down too much. There's no sense of making progress as every action is penalized so much. You spend 90% of the time chasing fuel or iron for repairs but each time you obtain one it's at the expense of the other. If they can sort the game balance there's some fun to be had here but right now it's just annoying..Version: 1.01

I thought there was strategy to it, but anybody can beat drilling hardcore.Yeah, I'm a tough strategy player, and all was cool with this title, even after drifting all the time, until I was greatly dissappointed when I realized drilling to failure was the only way to beat the game. So yeah, just do that and you can beat the game. Sometimes your probe will break, but you will have a surplus from all the jackpots. Also, you need to manage your resources to avoid running low on something..Version: 2.5

Game ruining glitchA great game, but one issue that has put me off ever playing it again. I made about 1.5 hours of progress in this game (good progress too, in terms of both story and resource collection), when I returned to a ship I had previously left behind. I had left necessary resources on the old ship and explored a bit with the new one, but when I returned to take my old ship back, any interaction with it caused all selectable options in the game to disappear. Even quitting out and reloading my save did not help. This is a great game and I was totally immersed, but a game breaking glitch so far in to a game like this is entirely off putting. If it weren't for this problem I would rate the game 5 stars easily, but now I doubt I'll ever pick it up again..Version: 2.1

Won’t work on my iPhone XRIs a horrible experience all around which is new to me because it was a blast to play! That’s the whole problem I can’t run this game on my iPhone XR without it freezing and stuttering. WEIRD PLEASE FIX. If you’re planning on getting it be nervous cause it might not even work on your phone! One star cause it won’t run. Otherwise GREAT GAME..Version: 2.5

NEEDS improvementsTruly fun game until you run into impossible-to-win scenarios. The alien races erase your technology to travel and make it impossible to go anywhere! It's horribly annoying to have to give up when you've been on a certain game for over an hour. Also, after finding abandoned ships, you can't even learn the technology onboard or when you switch ships, you can't even learn the technology of the new ship you're using!! That is counterintuitive to me. Lastly, you can't even play your own music to this app. Please make some improvements. This game has potential, and c'mon, I paid a whole dollar for this..Version: 2.5

Near missLove everything about the theme of this but the fuel economy is simply unfun. Glad I only wasted a dollar. It is way too easy to run out of fuel because everything takes fuel and you can enter systems with nine to harvest repeatedly and then you loose. Really disappointed..Version: 3.1

Not worth itI quit after a few days of playing. Many times I played, I will not be able to jump into solar system because they are way too far. You have to find the technology that will allow you to jump farther or it's game over. Not fun at all..Version: 2.3.3

Pretty fun time killerAs I do enjoy the game and it’s difficult nature, I do have one complaint. No matter what I’m doing in game, randomly the pause menu comes up. This is a constant (every 3 minutes) annoyance. It makes me second guess even playing..Version: 3.1

I wasted my moneyThe game has a great concept, but. Anyone can make a hard game, just make it so the person dies within moments of playing. The game has several things in it that cant be used for anything but space holding and its just overall a muddled up game, i love the concept but i think it could have had alot more work put in it for the huge price..Version: 1.01

Think of reading the best you've ever read...Then imagine that, before you got to that pivotal last page, the book burst into flames. That's what it's like playing this game. It's too hard to win..Version: 2.0.2

Nearly!I was really enjoying this game. It will hook you in, but, it's impossible to get far into it. Something will happen to end your adventure. On my best run, that I was really enjoying, I got ambushed by aliens, left with 0 resources and had to start again. When that happens a few times, it gets frustrating. The other reason this app lost a star is because even muted, it stops your own music. Very disappointing, because the soundtrack really is very repetitive and boring. This has every potential to be a 5 star game, and I'm sure the developers will fix these bugs. However, it can't be scored higher in it's current state. Still, worth a purchase though..Version: 1.01

Used to be amazing...I loved this game so much, I would play it whenever and wherever. But since the latest update it lags like crazy on my iPhone 4 and is unplayable ;(.Version: 2.0.2

HmmThis game has a cool concept but is ultimately unplayable due to the fact that the designers fail to reward the incredible amount of effort required to play it. For example, you can do absolutely everything right, and you just barely manage to keep going (the recurring theme of the game), and then at the end you end up stranded with no where else to go. How many times do you think I'm going to want to do that before I just get frustrated and delete the game?.Version: 1.01

3.5 starsI have mixed feelings about this title. Here are my thoughts. 1) I actually found it far easier than people claimed. I thought I was going to die instantly and I actually made it really far, even on my first play through. It’s certainly easier on Easy. 2) the game really shows its age in the graphics. The graphics aren’t very sharp, even on a pre-iPhone X device. And the text font is too close to comic sans for comfort. The music is somewhat bland. The environments are still pretty. 3) while I disagree about the difficulty, I do agree with the random chance people complain about. RNG does mess you up randomly when you’re pretty far along. I found it only does that when you’re low on two core resources so you must choose which one to fill. Then RNG never lets you fill the other resource and you die from lack of that resource. To combat this, I would just always keep resources above the halfway point when you can, even if you waste more fuel. This game is also far longer than FTL, so starting over isn’t as easy. Especially if you’ve gotten really far. Overall a satisfying experience well-worth a dollar on sale, but worth the standard $3.99 too. I suggest a sale if you’re interested..Version: 2.5

All that time!?Finally got a great mod, went to blow up a star to kill the aliens and the stupid game crashed!? It's a great but really tough game and when it came to being rewarded for hard work I was simply kicked out of the game!? What's the point in a super tough game if when it FINALLY comes to the payoff you worked for and all goes *poof*? I suggest seriously sorting out a really bad bug!.Version: 2.2

Frustrating mechanicsSuccess is largely based on chance, even on easy it is incredibly difficult to make it even 1/3 to your goal. Played many rounds and nothing is more frustrating than losing almost every time because you make it to a planet but don't have enough fuel to send your probe out to get fuel....Version: 2.5

Needs option to add less than whole amountWhy can't you add less than the whole amount to the resources bar? It means you always need an extra slot in the hull just to split resources. Especially a problem with iron..Version: 2.0.2

Good, but......while I like the style and the concept, the game feels like it's missed its potential by a long-shot. The mechanics are there, they just need to be more complex and involving, which will return a much more rewarding experience. I have completed the Green storyline so far, but been ultimately left with a feeling of disappointment and so little desire to try and complete the other 2. This game could have been so much more, but I live in hope that the devs produce a more developed and involving sequel - my money is waiting:).Version: 1.04

Not what I expected - boring afNot my kinda game I guess No combat makes it super lame and boring There’s no real fun it point to it Gave it a few tries but rather do literally anything else tbh One thing I’ll say is the aesthetic is really beautiful <3.Version: 2.5

This Game is so Difficult it's Not Even Funny...First off, let me explain that I'm NOT overreacting when I say this, but this game is very unforgiving. Don't get me wrong, I like this game, I especially love making fun of the alien species with my brother, but when you just want to beat the game, that concept is a total waste of effort. I have tried so hard to beat the game and I even reached Earth's Solar System again, but not before I run out of fuel as soon as I jump for the last time; I even had the Stellar Embryo (if you haven't played the game yet, that is an extra life element,) but my extra chance got yeeted out of the window when it put me in a crappier ship that couldn't even travel to the next star system. In conclusion, I'm conflicted about other people purchasing this game; If you consider buying this game, please take warning in the fact that even the slightest mistake (even on EASY mode,) this game will freaking PUNISH you via death/going adrift in space, over and over again....Version: 2.5

Cheap difficultyThis game could be truly exceptional but the difficulty the develops allude to is entirely random. Sorry but it's easy to make a game hard by giving the player nothing. The permadeath and then start an entirely new game EVERY time thing needs to be rethought. At least let us carry some tech or new ships into the next life..Version: 1.01

5 star game potentialGreat game concept but with silly flaws. You randomly forget tech which leaves you stranded with no way to progress the game. It's akin to a bug. Also the lack of an effective guide is a huge omission. It could also use a save progress feature so you can come back rather than playing straight through. Fix this and it's five stars for sure.Version: 1.01

Good game, lag is unacceptableSo I like this game but I don’t appreciate the jerky nature of the motion. I have the iPhone XS Max - it shouldn’t have any issues running this game!!!.Version: 2.5

Difficult, and dull...very dullOkay, so your ship is low on fuel. So you decide to visit a planet that is “rich in fuel”. Well, it takes fuel to get there, fuel to probe, and fuel to leave. End result: a net loss in fuel. So soon you’ll be out of fuel. Game over. I suppose that if you play the game 50 times, you might catch on to some trick that gives you a net gain in fuel. Any game designed like that is not for me. One star. On edit: I’ve played the game a few more times. It’s not just ridiculously difficult, it’s dull as well. Mine for fuel and iron. Then go on to the next solar system. Mine for fuel and iron again. Repeat until you run out of fuel. Game over. There are random events, but they are few and far between. And they usually hurt you. Do I sound frustrated here? That’s because I am. This could have been a great adventure game. But it’s too difficult, and too repetitive..Version: 2.5

Game of chanceI might just be no good at this game but I’ve given it 1 star on the basis of it being a game of chance/luck rather than one of strategy. There are good elements but when your path through the game is largely out of your hands then anything that you think you’re doing right is just luck and within a few turns the game can be over. This doesn’t come across as it being a difficulty question, which you navigate by learning, it’s just random. Which is a shame because there’s a lot of potential here..Version: 3.1

So much fun except for one little problemPro: Absolutely wonderful gameplay; The storytelling is excellent; The UI is precise. Con: The sound doesn’t work. Nothing no music no sound effects. Even when the settings for sound maxed out. It’s such a bummer. I guess they never finished that part..Version: 3.2

Games has issuesPlease sort out. (Have sent you video and message via messenger).Version: 2.5

PromisingWorks great on the latest iPhone - no issues. The writing is good as well. Game mechanics are good. It's what I was asking from FTL The bad part is that the game relies a bit too much on luck which isn't good given that the difficulty is high. I would go for their story book games instead: Out There Chronicles.Version: 2.5

Good but too hardI love the game but even on easy mode it is hard. Which is a shame because it’s so fun I just get sick of constantly dying. Would love for it to be made a little easier or something then I would give it five stars.Version: 3.2

No iPhone X support ;(Good game but screen ratio too small on iPhone X.Version: 2.5

PotentialGood game, but late game bugs really make it pretty awful after putting a lot of work in..Version: 1.01

Discouragingly difficult for no reasonFinding a lot of fuel? Well, time for a random encounter where half of it disappears and destroys your telescope. That’s alright, fuel’s been abundant the whole trip? Rest assured it won’t be for the next however many systems you jump to that have gas planets with no fuel. This game is not difficult; it’s punishing. There is no “playing it safe” or “living to fight another day”. On Easy difficulty, I’ve never had a game last more than 10 star systems - and of absolutely no mistake of my own save for trying desperately to enjoy this game. Alas, I cannot..Version: 2.5

Not badKind of like an interactive space novel. It's just too hard to find items that take you further, so you die and start over with zero. I wish some cosmic force could let you start with something you gained during your last go. In realistically, I know, because you're dead, but would make the game slightly more enjoyable..Version: 1.01

Could I have my money back?Hi I bought this game recently not knowing it doesn’t support newer screen resolution... there’s nowhere that says this. Since last update was over a year ago it doesn’t seem like this game is supported anymore either.. could you please refund me? Thanks.Version: 2.5
