Give us a real world mapYou can't get 5 stars without a real world map. It's all very pretty playing on a random world map, but it all feels a bit... random (and pointless, frankly). It's like you've made all this effort simulating human civilisation, but we may as well be playing on the moon. Come on give us a real world map. Do it as an in-app purchase, if you want to make some money out of it..Version: 1.5.3

Needs Serious UpdateThis game is a spot on reference to the Xbox 360 version of CivRev including graphics, layout, and overall gameplay, yet with the 360 version you got to see just about every building in your cities including the wonders as well as watched your units change styles whenever they were upgraded to have a special ability. I think the makers could add to the graphics to let us see what buildings we have in the cities and also let us see the wonders that have been built. Also more scenarios would be greatly appreciated, and it Would be even better if the scenarios followed the outline for them that was written, like global warming, "water is rising and resources are becoming scarce" yet when I start the game it looks like any other randomly generated map on one huge continent with very little water separating the civs and plentiful resources. What's the point of a scenario if it doesn't follow the written scenario? And do barbs only attack the actual players civ? I have yet to see a barb attack a computer player and I have yet to see a computer player attack another computer player or even meet another comp player within the game, even in late eras, all of these are making me regret the $10 I spent on this game..Version: 1.5.3

M09It's grand. Has some of the qualities of the classic civ- But it's far too easy. Even on deity it's a cake walk if you know what you're at. The CPU doesn't attack with any great force or conviction even if you set it to all out war or only domination victory. Plus the CPU opponents don't attack each other or even seem to communicate/meet which takes away from the enjoyment. Please create more aggressive computer opponents and a more difficult level. And fix it so that the computer opponents attack and communicate with each other..Version: 1.5.3

Ok !Have played these type of games before. On the plus there are no in app purchase which is refreshing ! If you have loads of time to kill ?! Fill your boots as this game is great fun The down side is it is a little tedious ! The moves take too long, I mean I don’t need to see my troops move across the board ! Also some match ups don’t seem right ?. A group of fighter planes against archers ?!.Version: 1.5.5

TrashIf you like Civ 6, do not buy this..Version: 1.5.5

BUGGG!!!Good game but impossible to play there is too much bug and app crash all the time i want to make new troops.Version: 1.5.3

VersionThis game is not as good as its predecessor. There were my favorite of all time but the functions and the way the game works is not great. Wish I could load an earlier version.Version: 1.5.5

Computer Player is Laughably StupidThis game suffers from multiple issues including terrible computer players, bad interface and poorly tuned buildings and technologies. The computer players don’t know about each other let alone don’t attack each other. This renders the diplomacy mechanic useless. They also don’t attack the barbarians and so are often contained by them. The previous edition made working with stacks of units easy and intuitive. This version make it a pain, difficult to know what is selected. The old game had a different icon for an army this one does not. Similarly, the old game let you disembark an entire ship full of units with a single command. In this edition, you must do it one by one, often being taken to another map area in between. Finally, new buildings, wonders and technologies are interesting but extremely unbalanced compared to those brought forward from previous editions. What is frustrating is that correcting these issues would likely be straightforward and could make this bad game great. But, because it is so old it has been abandoned by the developer and yet they continue to charge a premium for it..Version: 1.5.5

Better Than ExpectedWhen I first loaded this up, it seemed to be Civ Rev 1 with some improved graphics. Didn't play it much. Lately I've been playing it more and it appears there have been two major changes - more leaders and improved late game tech/wonders. Some of the late game buildings now actually have drawbacks which makes the game a little more balanced. Several issues still remain - the AI always declares war, you can't upgrade units expect for one wonder, the AI cheats obviously in the higher difficulties (e.g. units magically appear out of one tile in the middle of your territory), there's no way to divert production to gold or science, etc. if you played Civ Rev 1 this list will sound very familiar. Still, a little more solid than its predecessor and diverting for short games..Version: 1.5.3

Great game terrible implementationI never write reviews. This game can be very fun but after seeing my units get defeated while having a 2x advantage and hardly being able to win a fight with even 1 point less I’m sick of it. The combat is stupidly unbalance so right when you get a good army or fleet the enemy can crush it with a much weaker unit. The game also auto plays so your units automatically go to the next place you put during your last turn. Automatically, despite changes in the battlefield or move to of enemy troops you can’t stop the auto movements and it slides away to the next unit even if you try to work another area of the map. I love civilization games but this port has pushed me to my last nerve. The previously mobile version was a much better game and I played it back in 2011. It is possible to win games on the highest difficulty but the computer has such vastly better luck it is painfully tedious building up powerful units just to see them crushed by enemies literally half as strong. It would be 5 stars if this didn’t fundamentally break the game so ridiculously..Version: 1.5.5

Great little versionI love this edition it's fun and easy to play. Few gripes about it though. 1. I don't like the time limit wish I could turn it off. 2. The AI county's don't communicate with each other. 3.in peace negotiations would be good if you could haggle more or choose what to give them and for how many turns not just a selection to choose from..Version: 1.5.3

RidiculousShame on the price, previous version was really good, this is not, traded better graphics for clunky game play save your money.Version: 1.0.0

Not an improvementI’ve loved this game since I played on my PC in the 90s. When it first came out on iPad, I was pretty excited and happy to pay to play the full version. When it stopped working after a recent iOS upgrade, it was disappointing it hadn’t been maintained, but eventually I saw it had been re-released in its current form, so I went to download it. I was more than a little annoyed when I had to pay all over again, but it used to be such a good game, I felt it was worth it. I was wrong. So much effort has been put into trying to make it 3D, it’s become almost unusable. There’s so much pointless detail in the artwork of every game component that the screen is incredibly busy and essential detail is hard to make out. The general game play is incredibly slow and takes far more time than it’s predecessor. There’s no way to zoom out and view the entire world. There’s no way to view your troops without activating them and there’s no way to pause a piece for one round. Overall, gameplay is just frustrating it you’ve ever played the old version..Version: 1.5.5

DisappointedThe game is good but so similar to the original that I feel like I wasted my money. Feels more like an update than a new game..Version: 1.5.3

Not badI would say it is very close to the old Civ 2 on PC as far as complexity goes. Could’ve been much better with a bit more thought into civilizations options, better city management and few less bugs. As a long term fan of the franchise I still got a lot of enjouement with this game but it gets a bit repetitive very quickly..Version: 1.5.3

Bad AI, needs multiplayer. The title says it all. No matter how good or how poor you're doing, every comp civ will wage war with you. Even if a much better target is within a much more reasonable distance, the comp will ignore it to attack you. If you pay off a comp to attack another comp (which is an option sometimes), nothing with happen. You'll pay gold for nothing. Despite this, the AI is terrible at expanding it's own civs, building 2 cities over the course of an entire game, and either funneling most of it's resources into it's armies (to attack you), or into cultural/scientific expansion (which you can't stop because you're too busy fighting everyone else). When I tried this app out, I got the distinct impression that the comps did not care who won, as long as I lost. These issues would easily be bypassed by a multiplayer function, replacing terribly coded comps with actual people. However, this is not a function, and as such, this throwaway app is not worth the $10 required to play..Version: 1.5.3

Buggy and annoyingDuring the game there are regular dialog prompts with 4 options. These most often give you the option to give tech to another player to avoid a war. The problem is that sometimes only one option is ever shown. This could mean that when you are winning a war you have no option but to give your opponent a gift and end the war. There is no workaround. Added to this annoyance, catapults are useless. There is no bombard option, only attack, this means that the catapult can be easily taken out before ever getting a chance to fire. Mine got taken out by the same archer, I had loads. I wasted hours today trying different approaches to the game. The dialog bug was the final nail in the coffin. I've requested a refund. Shame I like the series but this game is just an exercise in frustration..Version: 1.5.3

Terrible AI / No ChallengeThe AI in this game is outright broken. I’ve only played on Deity difficulty and do not see how it would be possible to lose. The barbarians are terribly weak and the AI does not attack them or capture their weak villages. The AI constantly goes to war with you but you get more threatening messages than units attacking you. Most of the time you have to defend at most one city from limited attacks. Cities are very difficult to attack and very easy to defend which makes holding cities a breeze. Cultural or economic victories can be completed way before you ever get that far through the tech tree. Oh and if an AI is performing well, just attack them and their wheels come off as they switch to a daft government type which contradicts the victory type they were about to win. Shame as it could be a good mobile game..Version: 1.5.5

Potential - FailThis would be a brilliant game, if not for some very simple failures. Upgrades & bug fixes are non existent. It seems once you've bought the app, they take their money and all is forgotten. Secondly, my favourite is the ridiculous unfairness when you are winning. The Greeks can go from 7 "Great People" to 13 "Great People" in 1 turn, and 7 turns later they win the game in 1790! A complete joke and waste of time. Please fix these simple issues. Happy to re-write this review if you get you act together! - 6 months later, still no changes..Version: 1.5.3

Levelling issuesI fully appreciate that, as an app over the real deal game, there are going to to be issues with controlling difficulty settings and the AI responses. But it is pretty frustrating to go from the second tier of difficulty, which is ridiculously easy to win, to third tier where it appears the AI has an endless stream of capital city defenders and somehow they are all superior in points value. Even against lower enemies with lower point scores, I am losing a ridiculous amount of fights. How the merry hell are you suppose to plan a campaign if a lower strength enemy can easily defeat you. It is incredibly frustrating. I am deeply unhappy with the random nightmare that is this game, representing an unholy alliance of the AI being predictably and pointlessly aggressive with a meaningless strength value for units. So unhappy playing this. Also, every time I have won, pressing the menu button has crashed the app..Version: 1.5.5

Awesome game, needs a lot of work.I've been playing on deity for a while and have never lost a game. Ever. At first I thought I was getting better but then I realized that this version was the problem. The ai does not seem to actively try to win. They seem to exist within their own cities in the game and nowhere else. Also, they never meet any of the other leaders, I've had two enemy cities bordering each other before and when I go to the diplomacy screen, they claim nothing but ignorance towards each other. The only thing I want is to be able to send Caesar to war with lady cleopatra but they just won't talk to each other. Also the ai will never attack barbarians, they just send a trooper to stand next to it for the entire game. Please try and update this and I will fully love you guys once again. But right now I feel taken advantage of and want my $$ back....Version: 1.5.3

Doesn't add much to the originalIf you played the original Civilization Revolution, there's not much new to see here. Ranged city attacks, a few new techs/units/wonders, and "improvements" to the graphics that make me miss the simplicity of the previous installment's more cartoonish style. There's simply not $15 of value here. The AI is also really odd. Computer players will never acknowledge having met each other, and never seem to go to war with each other. The computer players park units next to barbarian encampments, and never try to clear them. It’s a stretch to use the term “scenario” for the scenarios; there’s really nothing to them. And despite the fast pace of the game, the late game manages to be even more tedious than it is in the full-blown Civ games (in particular, the late-game run to wrap up a victory feels pretty much the same in every successful game). That said, it’s still fun to play—to a point—.Version: 1.5.5

TerribleHas the tiniest sliver of a civ game. Small scale and boring. I don’t recommend..Version: 1.5.5

Reasonably good game. It’s a fun conquer the world type game but has some issues. The first one is world size. It’s tiny. Your chance of going more than 10 squares in any direction without meeting another nation is non existent. There is almost no diplomacy. You meet the other nation and that’s it. You can swap some tech, threaten or be threatened and go to war. There is no such thing as an allied victory. Spying is almost useless. You can kidnap great people, steal money or destroy defences which doesn’t do much. There are no options to subvert cities or steal research / units. It’s like a really early test version of the original civilisation which I played on a 286. Could have been so much better..Version: 1.5.5

Good but still has issuesDownloaded this on my iPad when it came out a while ago, it was great but had some minor issues. The biggest one for me was the fact other civilisations don’t acknowledge each other. At the time I just assumed it was a new game that still had a couple bugs to figure out, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. But still, 2 or 3 years later, there is still the same issue. There’s been bug fixes in the game, but for some reason this problem hasn’t been addressed? It’s extra annoying because when you talk to other leaders, they will say “have you visited the Russian capital?” Or something along those lines, but when you ask about another leader, they always say they’ve never met them. Aside from this, it’s a decent game, but this issue does make the game a bit harder to play..Version: 1.5.5

Ehhh needs work before i feel they should charge for itThis game dosent feel complete. I love Civ games and I find the AI to be horrendous for a civ game:/ i can only play with 3 other civs and i have no option to choose which civs i play with. even the civs that i play with don’t give much diplomacy leeway. None of them ever meet so i can’t even use the option to make one AI fight another AI... why put something in a game if i can’t even use it????? it needs a “turn off fight animation” button, like i understand it took a lot of work to put the fight animations in the game but that being said the novelty of watching a firefight between 3 people wears off after about the 3rd take and sometimes i don’t have the time to watch those over and over again i just want to get through a game. and finally, the wait one turn button would be great. Overall however, this game has potential to be 5 stars but with some updates..Version: 1.5.5

CivilisationIt's a great game but needs updating. A few bugs, such as sometimes loosing cities when you still have defenders in them. Or defenders scores seem to vary from time to time make it a bit frustrating a times. Also the computer players don't play with a logic that aims at them winning at the top level. For example if one computer player is going to win, no one else will attack them to slow them down or refocus their resourses. Some common sense needs to be added. Otherwise still good to play..Version: 1.5.3

I don't work for 2k reviewLet's just name the cons as this game is full of them The thing that upsets me the most is the AI treats you like you're the only one on the island and everyone is against you. Even if you're allied with someone it will only be for a short time before they start to threaten you and you can't threaten anyone back...plus if you ask a ally about world events they always say I don't know anyone else...like why have that button if they always say that...you got other enemies walking through there cities and they still don't know who they are. Cities don't show building Battles are lame had a pikeman kill my fighter jet also a archer killed my submarine... Can't stop movement actions so if you tell a unit to move far and a enemy unit is in the dark you're screwed. If you are defeated it doesn't say who won instead you get 4 different brackets divided by economic military ect and you have to just guess...had one game where I won in 3 of the four categories but still lost because time ran out Small button interface will frustrate you Games are short and you can't add time to the length... In sure I'm forgetting some other bs but this is already long enough. Very disappointed..Version: 1.5.3

So far wish i passed on itThe first game revolution 1 was very good. Much easier to use the characters and was a blast to play. I had hoped this game was similar, but alas it is not. I might just be a bit harsh and will update review after trying it again. Why change with the entire game mechanics that worked well in the first? I held off on buying as I had the first and there was no turn limits on it. I missed playing so i took a chance, so far not thrilled but you never know it may grow on me.Version: 1.5.5

Game durationGreat game, honestly I love it, but I don’t like how it decides for me when to end the game. If I want to completely dominate someone, slowly, I should be able to with out being interrupted. Otherwise love this game.Version: 1.5.5

No sound, not able to log in to game centerAs in the title, on ipad4 am unable to get sound and cannot log in to game center for live events. This app does not work properly. Do not purchase..Version: 1.5.5

IOS 11 - but no soundReally great that it’s been updated for iOS 11, but it wouldn’t go past the loading screen until I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Since doing that it’s opened normally, but there is no sound! Tried the usual: turned volume on and off, closed and reopened the app, but still nothing. Take a look at the update 2K, I love this game as a time-killer when travelling and really want to rate it higher..Version: 1.5.5

DisappointingDisappointing and expensive for what it is. 1st game, played on easiest - won by domination 2nd game, played on second easiest - won by domination 3rd game, played on hardest - won by domination Third game wasn’t an easy win, but it wasn’t hard either. It would have been nice to have been challenged. On top of that, the interface is a bit annoying. When I go to the next unit, I expect not to come back to the current unit until I’ve gone through all the rest. Instead I keep coming back to the same units, making it difficult to know when I’ve been through all the units that have moves to use. It would all be handy to tell a unit to do nothing for just this turn. Instead you either need to fortify it and remember to wake it up next turn, or you have to keep skipping over it using the next unit button. Another annoyance, when you get the Special Forces unit, you can’t build infantry anymore, but infantry have a much higher defence..Version: 1.5.5

NO STARS!!!!! GET THAT ONE ABOVE OFF!!!!I've been playing Civ games since they first came out with the little counters. Some were great, some even with a world map showing where your units are! This attempt may have potential, except for the constant reminder message always on screen about how to use the two finger jeasture which is most annoying. Can’t find a way to disable it, perhaps they think we have a dumb brain. Surprised no one else has mentioned it. Am I missing something?.Version: 1.5.5

Could have been so much moreThis could have been so much more. I was pleased to find a new version of civ and bought straight away for £7.99. However very little has changed from last version apart from a graphics change. Where are the different map sizes and the create your own world options. Very disappointing poor show you guys..Version: 1.5.3

UnplayableHave enjoyed a lot from the Civ franchise. But this is unplayable. If you enjoy unnecessary 3D graphics (at the expense of actually being able to easily navigate, move, build, attack, etc.) then this is the game for you. If not - don't bother. Total let down..Version: 1.5.3

GarbageThe coding the game and the programmers for it are all garbage. Their entire families are garbage.Version: 1.5.5

An absolutely horrible gameI played several editions of Civilization on my computer over the years and enjoyed all of them. This version is just awful. The AI is the worst. I’ve finished all the leaders on the deity level utilizing the same strategy for every civilization. The lack of variation and same dumb AI made the game thoroughly un-enjoyable. For example the AI never attacks or gets attacked by barbarians, only attacks the player, gets veteran armies with generals without ever battling with them, gets a massive building bonus, etc. There’s a tab when you’re using the diplomacy to discuss other world leaders but when you tap it the only response they give is that they don’t know who they are. Even when there borders are next to each other and have troops traveling through them to attack me. It makes the game feel incomplete. I had better gameplay on the earlier computer editions from 20 years ago. There’s also a glitch that prevents me from finishing all the achievements. All in all this is a really crappy incomplete game and a waste of time and money..Version: 1.5.5

DisappointedI wouldn't have paid for the game had I played it first. Lacking what I enjoyed in the PC versions. It is also annoying for limiting the playable female leaders, along with sexualising what ones they do have..Version: 1.5.3

Fun gameGood game! The graphics are amazing. But I think that the game would be better if it had a bigger expanse of cultures. Wish there were Native Americans. The game is amazing as it is. I wish that it auto saved though. Twice in my one save, I had accidentally pressed the wrong button and lost a bunch of progress because I forgot. Also, for some reason when I attempt to get out of the notifications about achieving a victory, it brings me to the home menu. Again with the not-being-able-to-save. Great expanse of female characters! However, I feel in the tidbit of description about water vehicles should have a bit more about whether or not it can go in deep water. The last thing I feel that could be added is a setting that only allows you to war with one NPC civilization at a time. It got a bit tedious in one of my games, where I was just starting out and had a very small amount of forces- think I had just unlocked knights. Anyway, I soon found the Germans, the Indian, and the Japanese. The Indian declared war on me. However, as previously stated, I had small forces, and could only fight one civilization, when all of a sudden the Japanese made me give up something or another for peace. Then the Germans did it! I had to give in to them, or I would’ve been crushed!.Version: 1.5.5

Doesn’t work on the latest updateI have tried contacting developer for info regarding with this update will be ready. Got a nothing answer from them basically. Very disappointed, I have paid for a game I can’t play with zero support. Thanks heaps.Version: 1.5.3

I got ripped offFor the price of this game I thought I was going to have hours of fun strategically out witting the other players. I set up my custom scenario and the only way to win is to capture the capital of all the other players. After about an hour I’m setting up to get some of the items I wanted bombers/nukes Etc. (as a side note everyone’s at war with you! The other AI’s have no clue about each other nor do they care. So you’re fighting a 5 sided war. Just to put that into perspective the Germans lost WW2 because they were fighting a two sided war) so i’m about to start on the first opponent and it tells me in 5 turns the game is over! Wait I didn’t put that in my scenario! To bad game over and there’s no way to change that. Wow that’s $10 worth? What they have done is put a respected named game on a stripped down game to rip people off thinking they’re getting that game, you’re not! You’re getting WAY to easy or WAY to hard of a game. Save your money and get one of the others in this genre for free and just as good of gameplay..Version: 1.5.5

Couple of problemsThe game is really good, but unlike civ Rev 1 on Xbox 360, civilisations don't acknowledge eachother. 3 countries borders were connected, but when I ask them about world events they say they don't know any civilisations, despite the fact I see their drones near others cities, also they don't appear to be so smart or even have the ability to attack barbarians, and I know that because I saw a barbarian village which I couldn't reach because of enemy civs, but they never attacked it. It isn't a massive deal but it really does ruin the game because no one else goes to war with each other, and I can't bribe them either..Version: 1.5.3

Stripped downThis is a very stripped down and simplified version of CIV2, with small maps, a boring AI, and only a fraction of what was in the original. This is not worth the price. It is especially sad given how old CIV2 is, they couldn’t even match the features of an old NES game. The other problem here is the UI is not intuitive. You have to kind of guess how to play your way through and a lot of basic features you used to have in CIV2 like fortifying is changed drastically. I mean it’s OK, but for the price.. You’ll play it once, unlock everything, beat it on all modes in about 40mins..Version: 1.5.5

100% Honest ReviewThe title says it all. As you can see in the screenshots of this game it appears that you can see the entire planet as a ball. This is a Lie, you cannot see the planet. In fact when you launch a nuclear bomb and it zooms out to follow the bomb you see the end of the earth as complete emptiness. People are saying this game is different from the first which I have playd extensively, and it is not. The only difference is the graphics. The AI is poor and the hardest setting is very beatable. They ask you for money for a truce so they will not attack you Even If Your AboutTo Destroy Their Last City. They take a long time to create new settlements and thusly lose mid game if you just spam settlers early on. All of the leaders have the exact same bonus as civ rev 1. In fact the pictures for every technology is exactly the same as civ rev 1. Now if your a fan of textures and your willing to drop an extra five bucks that is literally all you will be getting in civ rev 2. AI technology and leaders Are Exactly The Same..Version: 1.5.3

Game that I purchased won’t even workI bought this game. Since the iOS update it won’t even play. It just goes to the title screen an does nothing. Absolutely pathetic from a big studio. Do not buy. Absolute trash.Version: 1.5.5

Big disappointment - not worth the moneyAfter Civ Rev 1 I was expecting some improvements, but this is a huge step backwards and definitely was not worth the money. The interface is appalling - half the time the buttons and unit info is in the way, and the other half of the time it disappears before I select an action. There's no way to know what building you've just built when you get the city info screen after building completion. Once you've built everything, you can't divert production in a city to cash or culture like on the PC version. If your production is high, and you choose to build units (your only option if you've built all of the buildings and wonders), you can end up with over 100 new units produced per turn in a single city, making the game completely unplayable. By the way, why on earth make modern infantry become obsolete? The graphics are full of bugs and weird sloppy modelling, especially when it comes to battles and leaders. Really limited choice of Civs - where are the Babylonians? Vikings? And just like Civ Rev 1, victories are completely underwhelming. The whole production screams of a serious lack of testing and zero interest in resolving issues other reviewers have already identified a long time ago now. Lift your game 2K..Version: 1.5.3

Stripped down design and no tutorial. Lacking throughoutBought this cause I played Civ 5-6 on my computer and even Civilization Revolution 1 on xbox 360. I remember Revolution 1 being quite fun but returning to Civilization Revolution 2 on here and other platforms, I’ve come to realize just how dull and limiting it is. Firstly there are so much fewer choices compared to the other games in the series and it does not perform very well on my iPad. While offering many enjoyable goofiness and characters, the gameplay and strategic choices available to people are underwhelming and upon finishing a game I felt little to no satisfaction or enjoyment from having played for 3-4 hours. That an there was so little direction or tutorial for differences or how many systems worked, I was and still am very disappointed in this game. The lack of choice and strategic options really kill it for me. Maps are quite small too. The player and AI can have massive death stacks of units (multiple units on the same square, an issue/design choice originating from Civilization 4 in 2005) means that movement and military options and viability are grossly limited. I really did not enjoy the design choices, as I feel many people who enter or are familiar with the series will reciprocate, and I do not recommend to purchase or to play..Version: 1.5.5

Not as Good as Civilization Revolution on XboxThere are somethings that I liked having in CivRev 2. The new additions added onto game were worth adding into the sequel. I found it really cool to see new Great Leaders and the new Korean Civilization to play as or play against with the new units such like the Top-Tier Special Forces unit or the Drones unit. The Scenario Generator mode was a feature I wish was available on the Xbox but instead only had preset Scenarios that were interesting but not customizable so I am glad it was added onto here and was improved slightly compared to CivRev 1 on IOS. But I felt that deploying troops was clunky and it made it really punishing to have so many units in your arsenal, especially end game. Even worse added onto that was a lack of the “wait” feature on some units like the ICBM or Great People that keep asking over, over, over, over, over, over, over, over, over, over, over, over, over, over, over, over, and over again where to be placed even though I intend to keep them there for later use. There is no longer the feature that allows you to sell your units so now not only do I have a huge number of units that is annoying to use but I can’t get rid of it unless I go to war, forcing me to play a certain way..Version: 1.5.5

Doesn't work on my iPad 2It unfortunately crashes on the loading screen. Back to civ rev...what a shame.Version: 1.5.5

Excellent game with potential.Excellent sequel to an excellent adaptation always an excellent game. Hoping for better things in the future, maybe some more countries and the possibility of a religious victory. It would also be nice to rename cities once you have them..Version: 1.5.3

Game is TrashI enjoyed the first civilization revolution game a bit, and love the series as a whole. This game is reminiscent of civilization 3 and is a disgrace to the name. The lack of options to turn of auto functions makes the game unplayable to anyone who is a true civilization gamer and wants to actually have strategy. Most of the game information is hidden and the interface is extremely clunky. At least let me turn off these features if you are going to have them, I want to click end turn every time so I can micromanage my cities and units, don't auto set production in cities when the finish what I had assigned them. It disappoints me that the series could go back to such a horrible game after the civilization 3 showed that automation is not what is good for a strategy game. Disgrace to the strategy genre in general because you can't have true strategy due to game mechanics..Version: 1.5.3

Great game, but as always, there's room for improvement.I love the new country additions, especially Korea. However, the AI countries don't interact with each other even if they both have forces fighting on my territory or are direct neighbors. Also, the scenarios are a little below their full potential, and some, like the American Revolution, are too difficult for me to enjoy. Also, if you could choose a preset map in the custom scenario menu, and select the AI Civs that are playing with you, you could recreate the era of your choice. Also, I would like the turn limit per game removed. It's only annoying, because sometimes you're only a turn away from building the UN or World bank, or a turn away from reaching Alpha Centauri, and someone you could easily beat ends up winning due to POINTS- WHAT?! Lastly, more countries would be more than welcome. I would enjoy these four in general: Carthage and the Huns to conflict with Rome, the Incas to conflict with the Aztecs, and the Ottomans to match Germany. Sorry for the length of this review and sorry for any grammar errors, I use the German on my phone..Version: 1.5.3

DisappointingI played the PC original and the civilisation app on iOS. I've tried to like this version. But it's a worthless game. Overly simplified game, irritating game play and frankly not a patch of the first iOS version of Civ Rev 1. That should be re-released with the memory utilisation bug fixed. Now with IOS 12 out, the old civilisation game from 2k is no longer available, I miss the wonderful gameplay that has been lost between the two versions..Version: 1.5.5

Developer had iOS 11 beta for the past year and still no update?!?So iOS 11 has been available to developers for the past year and any company who gives a s@$t actually spent time to update their apps for iOS 11 and had them ready to go at the release date. Obviously this company preferred to take peoples money and not provide any support or update to an app that I’m sure took them time to develop. What a wasted investment on the companies behalf and what a waste of the revenue all the users have provided already. If I do the math correctly looking at even an average of just people who reviewed this, let’s say 4000 people then that’s $40,000 on just the reviewed app. Now let’s say maybe about 10% of people who buy apps review it, which would be generous since all the research points to 5% and under. $400,000 (which is definitely a low estimate for this popular game) is quite a haul for hem not to have an update ready and waiting when iOS 11 came out. Either the business people for this company hate money, or are just stupid. Hope another company buys the rights to Sid Meyers collections and makes twice as much..Version: 1.5.3

Much of the same for lots of cashStupidly priced for what it is, this game is pretty boring, pretty much the same as the first one and a real shame..Version: 1.5.3

Ignorance80%+ ppl in China Do Not Speak Cantonese! And Mao Zedong definitely not! Stop using "Cantonese" to represent "Chinese" will you???.Version: 1.0.0

Not goodAvoid this game and get the original instead..Version: 1.0.0

The new interface is terribleI was a huge fan of this game but this new interface is terrible. The labels over the cities block your view and the game flicks your view across the map in no logical sequence. The later is very annoying when you are trying to invade a city. This game needs a major tweak..Version: 1.5.3

Not a bad gameRemains pretty faithful to the feel of original version. The maps could be a little larger though. I’d have given it a better rating, however it no longer works on iOS 11.Version: 1.5.3

Wish it was still worth the $$$I had this game on my console way back when, and once it came out for IOS I immediately downloaded it for whatever the cost, as it is one of my absolute favorite games. This iteration was fine, the load glitches come and go and aren’t really that bothersome if you have a more advanced device. The reason why I have finally decided to give this game such a bad review is because they released a broken version of the game and never came back to fix it. Unless I am the only person to experience this, my issue is that the opponents in any given scenario seem to be incapable of communicating with each other. The concept of colluding with one country to eliminate another is one that drives the core function of this game. For it to not even be available is just a shame. While I am sure they have made more than their $$$’s worth and this review is in no means an attempt to stop anyone from purchasing the game. No this review is basically a desperate cry for the game to be fixed... Please, PLEASE fix this game, or at least release an IOS version of Civ Rev VI so I can play again!!.Version: 1.5.5

Good but the original was betterI've played this new version on civ on the iPhone for over a week. At first I wasn't overly convinced as the controls felt clunky and difficult to use. Labels get in the way of you being able to touch units to control them and the inability to zoom out permanently makes it hard to get a better birds eye view for control of the map. After a week of playing it, unfortunately I still find the same things annoying. 3 stars is probably unfair to rate it as it is such a well put together game concept. However 4 stars is too high as it really is ruined by the lack of accessibility to the units and cities..Version: 1.5.3

OK, but interface poorer than version 1The game is a good version of Civ for the iPad. It’s about right in terms of length, a couple of hours will come to a conclusion. The current Mac version of Civ takes far too long, even on a tiny world. However, the interface for the original version of Civilization on the iPad was much easier to use and clearer. Other irritating features: After discovering Modern Warfare, you lose the ability to build Infantry (you can build Special Forces instead, which is better in attack and can be airlifted, but much poorer in defence), so you cannot build the strongest defensive unit in the game any more. Tanks are your next best option. There’s nothing like Mechanised Infantry in the Mac version. Some of the trophies are impossible to win, and the challenge to connect all your cities by road never works. After you have connected all the cities the app doesn’t recognise the fact. Also, the challenge to have 3 population in 3 cities doesn’t work if you have more than 3 population in your cities..Version: 1.5.5

Unplayable CrasherCrashes on every attempt to play. Completely useless. Spent two weeks talking to developer support only to end up being told they don't know and to ask apple. Shame because i liked the last game but won't be buying another iOS version. Learn from my mistakes and save your dollars. The game does not work on ipad and they cant help you!.Version: 1.5.5

Keeps crashing on iPad miniKeeps crashing after a few minutes of playing. Is there a fix for it?.Version: 1.5.5

Really weird?Ai's won't fight each other so you get all armies against you (needs to be fixed as would be fun to watch them fight). Ability to make nukes whenever ( not an essential fix) able to destroy a city as I was against Rome and they basically ruined my other city's tiles I took them back but then I was left lots of really bad cities and I would like to destroy them ( very essential). Reduce amount of war ai declare.Version: 1.5.3

InsubstantialThis game is a sequel with no substance. The better 3D graphics actually hinder the game play, you have to wait for animations to finish...etc - game ui now has harder to hit targets/touch points - stacking units is slower - getting a whole overview of the world is slower due to the 3d perspective - cannot see as much...etc - in-game menus are unresponsive - the reminder of the split-view gets old quick Seems to me that this was made with no thoughtful idea(s) of how to improve the general mechanics of its predecessor - even just expanding Civ Rev would have been better than this. E.g different units, animations, scenarios, structures...etc An example of throwing money and dev time at a product for no valid reason. I recommend sticking with Civ Rev for a more fluid experience until someone makes a more comprehensive strategy game based off this franchise on mobile.Version: 1.0.0

It's "ok"...The graphics are good, but the maps really are too small. Only 4 leaders on the board with no space to grow their civilisations. Given the iPad has more power than the PC's where this game started I was expecting larger maps. Also, the other civilisations don't recognise each other despite being next to each other. Kind of defeats the object of this game, based on previous versions on other platforms. Disappointing. How about online multiplayer?.Version: 1.5.3

ClunkyBasically the same game as the original with a redesigned interface and a few additional units, leaders, wonders etc. I find the interface annoying and clunky. There is too much animation. It is difficult to get a big picture of the map. Sadly, the original is no longer available..Version: 1.5.5

Too many bugsFrustrating in the extreme. With some civs your units don’t upgrade no matter how many victories they have. Your units repeatedly lose when they are four or five times stronger than their opponents - its not like it happens once or twice, it happens every time with some civs. I’ve deleted the app as its just too frustrating to play when it doesn’t behave in a reasonable way..Version: 1.5.5

Okay but not worth the priceI understand they wanted to make a smaller scale Civilization game option, but so many functionalities are gone so you’re at the mercy of the programming, which makes no sense. I’ve had archers take out tanks (2 to 20 strength comparison) and other lost battles that did not make any sense. Certain nations end up having a hate-on for you and you can’t do anything to fix it or improve the relationships. If within a game the computer decides an enemy is going to capture your city you end up getting bombarded continually with no end or logic to it. I’m fine with having enemies attack, but there needs to be some functions added in so you can at least try to save your player/city. The limited functionality is such I can’t do anything to win or have an enjoyable play. Please fix the illogical programming!! I’ve been a Civilization fan since the mid 90s and have always enjoyed the strategy, but this one has given no options for that side of the game. Frustrating !.Version: 1.5.5

Crashes all the timeI always loved this PC game and this one used to work but now it crashes all the time..Version: 1.5.5

Poor game controlsI find this game so frustrating in the game play and combat resolution 1. If you select a multiple turn move, you can't stop the unit and redirect. This is an issue if an enemy unit pops up into view after you give move, went commands. At least let me redirect between turns, but if you click on the unit to redirect, it moves along its preprogrammed path. 2. I was laying siege to the Chinese so had a battle ship off their capital city. They asked for peace which I gave and then found my battleship stuck, because under peace it can't pass through their waters, poor programming and travel rules 3 (this is a biggie) In Combat, some units are completely too powerful and others are not enough. For example, I researched advanced flight and brought bombers in (which are B17 graphics from US high altitude bombing in WWII) and they were shot down by archers!! Archers. Let's be clear Mr Meier, but when archers from the 1600s are shooting down bombers at 15,0000 feet altitude, you need to put down the crack pipe. I also had pikemen destroy my tanks and riflemen sink my battleship. Really? Stupid, stupid, stupid combat rules. 4. If you research the Manhattan project you get a nuclear missile. One and only one. It also doesn't work so well, leaving all sorts of enemy units alive. All said, this game is NOT worth $10. Let it be..Version: 1.5.3

Civ Rev Origional? Is it possible to get the original civilization revolution. That was way better than the second version..Version: 1.5.5

DisappointedI loved the first civ, however this one is just a touch up to the old one. Nothing new really, feels like playing the first civ with a better graphic..Version: 1.5.5

Update your app!! It's been 2 years!! 😡Please update your app. This game cost a premium when I bought it and it hasn't been updated since then! Nothing new added and I get constant warnings about it slowing my iPad down because it's so out of date!! This wasn't a cheap game at over £10 and I'd expect to be updated and have new things added. Feeling ripped off..Version: 1.5.3

Really love this game but..Really love the game as played it on Xbox a long time ago. The only issue i have found is that when you build a workshop it does increase your production, it remains the same. Also, the game crashes when loading save games sometimes. If it wasn’t for these issues, would be 5 star..Version: 1.5.5

Update neededThis game is great but can you update it so it can work on iOS. 11, I feel like I wasted $15 on an app that won’t work. Come on 2k and get your act together so this game is actually playable..Version: 1.5.3

No No NoTerrible, terrible, terrible! Minuscule so called buttons/icons that u can aim hence use! Changed all logical navigation of the army as well as the ability to for an army! Terrible! Then that 3d bird eye view .... No way someone had a meeting and signed this off! Do not buy!.Version: 1.2.0

Some suggested fixesI used to love this game however some additions to this game have broken it since the last time I played it, please bring back the north and south poles removing them makes the whole seeable map playable but allows the AI to play the part of the map you can't see (right now I'm playing a map were the computer put a city of mine on the edge and I suspect there's a city on the lower edge of the continent that I cannot see or invade basically making the game unwinnable) please also get rid Of the 100% defense bonus in your own city it's nice if you're defending but it breaks the game because you cannot attack it just ends up being an hour long siege for every city you pretty much need artillery with a general and naval bombardment to even have a chance and even still it's a risk.Version: 1.5.3

It’s a Civ game on a phoneIt’s a decent game not very good but it kills time when you’re away from home. This can’t be compared to other Civ games because it’s just doesn’t have the power to have that kind of depth. It is old school build a huge unit stack and unleash on the opposition. My issues is the game is thought to control and often frustrating. It. Seems kind of buggy as far as controls go. I often have to track down a unit in order to heal it because there is no skip action button you either have to make all the moves you can or defend. If your unit is defending it just gets skipped so if you have any wounded unit you have to track them so you can heal them. If you don’t they just sit there and don’t heal. The positive is it’s a fast paced game which it should be for a phone game. And it has very powerful wonders in the end game. So it’s a fun way to kill a few hours..Version: 1.5.5

What he saidIt’s slow. Detail is lost due to everything going on on the screen. Still no overall map Still a good game but could be so much better.Version: 1.5.5

CivRev FanA few annoying touch screen and HUD circumstances. The game in itself will always be great but there is lacking in the phone version..Version: 1.5.5

TimGood fun. A great time killer, especially if you can't get on line..Version: 1.5.3

Only 15% of the real CivilizationAll the features of the real Civilization that makes it an awesome game are absent or automatically controlled. There is no customization of the game or of the the way to play possible. The games are too short. There are no moment in the game where true strategy will take over and make a difference. This game is surely a fit for those who never played the real Civ. But those like me who are fan of deep strategy and tailormade experience, will not like this game..Version: 1.5.5

Good game but still needs a serious update!!!!! Don't waste your money. This is a good addition to the Civilization universe, but there are still problems with it. For one the AI is as dumb as a bag of hammers and that's insulting to the hammers. The AI hardly ever declares war on another AI civ and will go to war with you when you have tanks and aircraft and they are feebly attempting to invade you with legions. Also, and this is very annoying, you cannot capture enemy spies without declaring war on the civ it belongs to while they can capture yours with out going to war. Some wonders can be constructed completely out of era for example, and the AI does this a lot, the Eiffel Tower, Scotland Yard, and the SETI can be build very early on without regard to prerequisite technology. All of these problems diminish strategy and overall gameplay. If these problems were resolved it would bring the game up to the level that civ fans expect. So get on it!!!!!! It has been over a year without a significant update..Version: 1.5.3

Great fun, just wish it would get an update from time to timeGreat fun, but would it hurt to update it? Few bug fixes maybe a few new leaders, or new units just to keep it fresh..Version: 1.5.3

Would be a lot better if it didn’t...This would be a lot better if games could go on for as long as it took to win. The max amount of turns is foolish..Version: 1.5.5

FrustratingI have tried to win but even on the easiest setting the game ai is set too high and after 5 attempts I just can’t win. There are very annoying elements like the religious elements which are unnecessary and stupid. The barbarian attack later in the game has no warning and they just appear from nowhere in overwhelming force and destroy all the infrastructure I carefully built. Civilisation 3 was brilliant. CivRev2 is simplistic but good. This is just rubbish! I will be asking for a refund..Version: 1.5.5

Last bug fix.. July 2015....Really?I'm a huge fan of the civilization revolution games, but this version is pathetic. In a few days it is going to be an entire year since the last bug fix! Even longer since the last new content update, but the bugs are so bad no one cares about new content just fix the bugs!! For example no AI leaders will know anything about other leaders or interact with each other for the entire game!! Which throws out many strategies where you could put 2 civilizations against each other... And the special forces are completely useless, if you can research modern warfare you lose your ability to produce modern infantry (best defenders in the game (4 attack 8 defense)) inexchange for for special forces (which are complete assclowns costing 20 extra production and have 8 attack 4 defense). The tech modern warfare is a good way to lose a close game, but that's to say if you didn't get bored of all 4 AI's thinking your the only other leader in the game. There are many other bugs just read other people's reviews of this update since its been out for a year and only 1 out of many have given it 5 stars. I wouldn't recommend buying it until they put out a bug fix even then at 7$ it's still an abandoned game (was 15$ upon release which just goes to show its diminishing quality)..Version: 1.5.3

Constantly CrashesFun game but it's totally unplayable as it crashes nearly every turn. This release is not even beta test quality, no one should ever be charged for something this low quality. Running it on an iPad Mini current OS. Buyers should be offered a refund if the app isn't patched..Version: 1.5.3

DisgraceDisgrace to the franchise. Especially at this price..Version: 1.0.0

Not greatOk, there are some things I like about it: there are very few even remotely interesting strategy games in the App Store and at least this one is playable and doesn't crush you with in app purchases. However, I've got to say I find the thing confusing. Like, I genuinely don't know whether I'm going to win individual conflicts ever and it's not really clear why I would win or lose them, as even number or quality of troops doesn't seem to always play the major part, it seems to be luck. Overall I expected a kind of command and conquer with sequential moves strategy game and what I actually got was a bit more like d & d... but without the dice roll to see how you went..Version: 1.5.3

Has potentialI really enjoy playing this game, but, the enemy players do not interact with each other at all which is a big problem. It makes the game less real. The game is so close to being perfect. You should sort this problem out, let the computers interact with each other. Also fix the online mode, it would be great to play with real life people. Good game overall..Version: 1.5.3

Terrible. It does afford the ability to “kill some time”. Not much more will make sense of this. Enemy cities seem to have endless troops with archers overpowering tanks and other nonsensical results. Your cities are easily overrun regularly or simply “flipped” despite attempts to satisfy the wacky algorithm. An annoying occupation at best..Version: 1.5.5

Disappointing but still funI was a big fan of the first version on my iPhone. This one is an improvement in some small ways, but it seems to take some major steps backwards. The controls are awkward and I end up sending troops to the wrong spots frequently. The graphics are nice but it feels like the world is smaller. I think the AI is a bit more difficult to beat than in the first version but it's so predictable that every game looks almost exactly like the last (constant wars against me but no else seems to get attacked, not even barbarians!). I still haven't managed to unlock any of the new leaders. I think that was a major reason I bought the new version and I shouldn't have bothered. The app is never updated so now I get a warning whenever I start it from my iPad Pro that says the app will slow down my iPad and that the developer needs to update it. Ultimately, it ticks me off that I paid so much money for a new version of a game I already had that is so much less fun to play. It's still a good game though and I still play so it gets three stars..Version: 1.5.3

AverageOptions are limited....Version: 1.1.0

In game achievements have stopped working. This means that you can not unlock any of the extra leaders. I just tested with the credits achievement and at the end of the credits it just restarted then and nothing in the achievements section. I've been trying to unlock Churchill and have built the world bank while having the east India company and flight not discovered and he's still locked..Version: 1.5.3

DisappointedCivi 2 is a mear shadow or its predecessor. Having played the first civi app for years (dew to its replay value) l thought it would be a step up with the new version. How disappointing. The controls are cluttered get in the way and bog down the game. That could be worked around, however annoying, but they didn't use a random map generator. Having only played the game for a month, l have had 6 repeated maps. Not only the same map but the apposing civi capatiles, barbarians, resources, and wonders in exactly the same places making the reply value 0. Totally disappointed..Version: 1.5.3

Abandoned Game with TONS of bugsDO NOT PURCHASE THIS GAME UNTIL THEY UPDATE IT! I was excited to play this game after putting so many hours into the first one. It is nearly IDENTICAL to the first version with the the same gameplay except broken. See the last updated date? It's showing you the game is abandoned by developers. They added new leaders, units, and tech which is superb. HOWEVER the game itself is hardy functional. Being the first to finish technology past the first few columns presents you with a screen like you would receive a bonus however nothing happens! The AIs are even more useless than the first game. They can only recognize the player meaning they never declare war on each other, and you can never pay them to attack enemies. They just defend useless plots of land in front of barbarians for thousands of years before declaring war on you. They can literally stand next to another civilization, but the moment you ask about that civilization they'll reply with "I've not heard of this civilization". Come on! I have no idea how much they paid for the "editors choice" seal but it's obvious the editors never played the game because it's more broken than the first somehow. This game could easily be 5/5 if they fixed bugs making it unplayable. Developers quit caring for this game a year ago, they're probably doing a couple tweaks and you can buy the slightly more fixed version rebranded "Civilization 3" for another sum of money..Version: 1.5.3

Ho humWas expecting more. New graphics good but the UI is unwieldy especially as you progress with more units. Then crashes so often it makes it unplayable..Version: 1.0.0
