✓ Not an upgrade to ‘Crush the Castle’Despite sharing a name and a vague premise with the original, this falls short. Everything explodes from the start, the accomplishments are unclear (% damage rather than # enemies crushed), and the graphics are much more cartoony. If what you liked about the original ‘Crush the Castle’ was figuring out how to aim projectiles to knock out critical pieces and make castles fall down (and graphics that looked like real blocks and model knights), this is not the game for you..Viking24601Version: 1.2.0

You can complete all levels without paying so this is a reasonable app for entertainment... I paid to remove ads but it didn’t work completely and still see ads. ✓ Accurate unbiased reviewThe game overall is a fun way to pass the time. The levels are creative and who doesn’t love seeing towers come crashing down. The aiming of the trebuchet however needs serious tuning. There is only a hair line between sending the boulder sky high and it falling short or sending the rock straight into the ground. It would be okay if the target was much wider/longer but often times. It isn’t. Adjust the aiming of your weapon and this game would be gold..The_snake_89Version: 1.2.0

✓ Lazy programmingThe physics often make no sense. Like a stone three times as thick as a the board you’re hitting with it just bouncing off like you through a pebble at a 12x12. Or the random angles that the flaming rocks bounce off at that make no sense because they lazily just program angles as large blocks that are 90 degree angles instead of the slope they’re supposed to be at. I breezed through all the levels, except the last one, in a matter of days. The first incarnation had multi screen levels. I especially liked the ones where you had to set a wagon in motion to crush another area. I liked the different destruction methods that are few and far between in this version. Yes I enjoyed it but it is very simplistic compared to the original. ✓ I hate having to constantly re-zoom outI don’t understand why the camera at the beginning is locked at the tiny pixel where your trebuchet is. ✓ Manipulative MechanicsI played this game a long time ago and had no issues. I stopped playing because I ran out of levels. After picking it up again recently and progressing roughly 20 levels, I came across two levels (189 and 198) in which the solution is obvious but impossible to target exactly where you need to because the trajectories are preset proximal to where in the arc you release your ammunition. I determined this by consistently landing my ammo in two EXACT locations just short and just beyond the the spot I need to hit dozens and dozens of times. Video walkthroughs from a couple years ago would have you believe it’s possible but, I think it’s likely a change has been made to the mechanics. ✓ 3rd dimension is used agains the player (you)Several levels, such as 151, leave you trying to hit a target that’s in front of your two-dimensional line of fire. You can demolish the entire target structure but if none of it lands on the person in the foreground, you just launch all the rest of your projectiles behind that final target. ✓ Very entertainingCarefully crafted layouts that may be destroyed in a variety of ways to achieve maximum destruction. This games requires you to utilize physics and be creative. Thoroughly entertaining and the ads are short which is a huge bonus! The game starts easily but quickly progress into more challenging stages with a variety of projectiles need to accomplish ultimate destruction. For those that believe that there are glitches, I have not experienced this at all - they are just not observing the set up and appreciating the creativity needed to complete the level. ✓ It’s okayIt’s game is fun kinda but needs work the level will end if you run out of rocks even tho the structures are about to fall on the last man to win the level it won’t play out. They have a 3D effect which is cool but there are invisible walls to stop you from throwing a rock through the beams. The hook is buggy it won’t pull something out I though maybe to much weight but it will pull out the bottom where all the weight sits so it’s a hit or miss. ✓ Good fun - then it becomes too preciseReally good, relaxing and fun game…. for the first 29 levels. To give you some example - I managed to get all three stars on those levels - bar one. Then when you hit level 30, the game descends into a task of surgical precision. Each shot is key - not just on the hope that it creates some additional damage, but in the vain attempt that you actually manage to complete the level. Level 30 itself must have taken me fifty+ attempts - by which point any fun had long since disappeared and outright frustration had taken over, simply to get past the level. Got to level 34 so far with each level between 30 and 34 scoring a single star. I never understand why with puzzle type games like this - that the devs don’t apply a zen mode. If people want a hardcore challenge - then crack on and enjoy. But for those who just want a bit of fun for a few minutes at a time, just make it easier. ✓ A Big MissCompared to Armor Games’ brilliant Siege Hero games this is poorly designed trash. I can deal with the constant ads but what I can’t deal with are the garbage controls and a projectile that refuses to behave with anything remotely resembling consistency. For example there’ll be 2 columns, one in the background with another in front of it & the projectile will go past the background column & only hit the one in front as it should, then you launch the next projectile to hit the column that’s second in the sequence however for some reason instead of going past the first background column as it should the projectile will randomly decide to redirect itself to hit the first background column instead of the second foreground one that it should hit. Why they designed the game in this ridiculous way one can only guess. I’m done with it & glad I didn’t waste my money to deactivate the ads..TheMetalWeaselVersion: 1.2.7

✓ Couple of issuesFirst of all, for some reason this app is a bit laggy when tapping to shoot the trebuchet. This is a device that can handle much, much, much more memory-heavy games than this one with ultimate smoothness. But for some reason this game, a simple one, lags. The second issue is that currently there’s a broken advert included in this game which causes most newer models of Apple devices to freeze, because it is so poorly optimised. The only way to resolve this is to hard-restart your device by holding the power and home buttons together for 30 seconds. This is not good. For UK residents, if damage is caused to your device as a result of you having to perform multiple hard restarts, the UK consumer law requires the app developer to purchase you a brand new device..Scott A.
